Hinata's head was feeling dizzy on her way to the bathroom; she was almost certain that her dinner was about to exit her body together with the alcohol. But not the right way.
Her eyes were feeling lazy, and she couldn't really see what was going on around her. Her knees got so weak that she almost fell down when someone grabbed her by the shoulders.
"Hinata-chan!" Ino squeaked. "Are you okay?"
The bluenette felt her world spinning. She didn't feel like talking to anyone, not after all those toxins and especially after the situation that happened between her and her so-called enemy.
"Poor girl." Yamanaka took one of Hinata's hands and helped her to the bathroom. "No one inside. Go on, Hina-chan!"
"You are so sweet, Ino..."Hinata cried out, letting go of her hand and immediately entering the bathroom.
"Ino! We are starting the game!" someone yelled at her, making her go back to the kitchen table, which was surrounded by everyone else.
Many half-empty and some full bottles of different alcohols were arranged on the table, waiting for the teens. The view made Ino excited. Not only was the game Truth or Drink (which was always the first one they played) the game she liked the most, but it was her chance to find out if any guy had a crush on her, especially the school's most handsome guy, Sasuke. Her eyes went to him, who was, as always, looking handsome, but his facial expression was different. He was nervous, looking around like he was looking for something or someone. Yamanaka looked at Sakura, who was always staring at Sasuke, her face showing that she was excited and worried, probably about the game.
"Did you guys start?" Hinata came back from the bathroom, looking way more fresh than she was.
"No, come on!" Sakura answered, smiling.
Yamanaka's eyes went back to Sasuke. His expression was now even more strange. He was looking anywhere but at the table.
"Maybe Sakura was right that something was going on between these two." Ino thought to herself, taking a small sip from her drink.
The game was very fun, intense, and interesting. Most of the students were dead asleep in random places in the whole house, while there were just a few players left: Sasuke, Naruto, Hinata, Sakura, Temari, Shikamaru, and Kiba.
"Soo..." Kiba looked around. "Hinata!"
Hinata looked at him with one of her brows up, ready for a stupid question.
"Do you think I'm sexy?"
"Nope, not at all."
"That was fast." Naruto laughed, putting a hand on his stomach. "And brutal."
Hinata laughed as well, looking at Sakura, who looked like she was about to pass out if she had another drink. Which was the perfect opportunity.
"Sakura-chan! Do you think Naruto is handsome?"
"Yu-yuh...I guess so." She looked at him from head to toe. "He is okay."
Naruto could swear he saw a little blush on Haruno's face. He hoped it wasn't just the alcohol causing her body to heat up, but her feeling embarrassed as well.
"Hinata-chan. Back to you." Sakura was ready to ask her something spicy. "Out of these guys here, who would you sleep with?"
Hinata didn't hesitate to drink. She probably had to think about it more than she needed to. Right now, she wasn't sure what stupid nonsense would come out of her mouth because of all those drinks she had.
"Boo..." everyone said almost at the same time.
"I'm done." Hinata felt really sleepy after that one.
Her eyes about to close, she gathered all the energy she had left to go to the living room and find a place to take a nap.
"Whose turn it is then?" Naruto asked, looking around at the others, who were still not drunk enough. "Sasuke hasn't asked in a long time."
"Nah, I will pass. I think I shouldn't drink anymore." The Uchiha left without even hearing what his friends were saying back to him, and looked around for the Hyuga.
As he entered the other room, he found her curled up in a ball on the couch, shivering and almost asleep. He took out his phone and texted his brother to come pick them up. With Neji out of town, there was no one but the Uchihas to help Hinata. Sasuke always thought Hinata wasn't the type of girl to get wasted on a New Year's party, but there she was—telling him to kiss him, laughing, dancing, playing games, passing out. This year's game was intense; they couldn't even get to a second game before almost everyone was finished. There were a lot of spicy questions being asked, which made most of the students drink more and more, just not to spill some unnecessary tea.
The Uchiha walked up to the Hyuga and sat down next to her. His index finger moved to her left cheek, stroking it. He couldn't understand why he was even feeling concerned about the Hyuga girl, but even if he wasn't, his brother would make him take her with them back home. Sasuke tried looking for a home key in her pockets or purse, but there was no sign of anything looking like a key.
"Shit..."he whispered. "She probably lost it somewhere...Dumb Hyuga."
It was like she heard him when she moved her arms towards him, tightening him in a hug. The Uchiha was immediately embarrassed by her actions. She was doing it in her dream, it seemed. Still, it felt unreasonable that out of all the people around to hug, she chose him.
"Are you...awake?"
No response, just a little snore. Her face was all reddish from the alcohol she consumed, making her body hot. Seeing her cute sleeping face and hearing her snore, the Uchiha guy couldn't stop himself from getting his face the same color as hers.
"Dumbass."
"I can't believe you let her get that drunk." Itachi almost yelled while driving his car to Sasuke's apartment. "She is staying with you tonight. And I'm going back to the party I was at."
"But..."
"No buts, Sasuke. Her cousin is a friend of mine; you should have at least considered that or the fact that she is a helpless girl. Take her to your room and take the couch."
"Itachi, I would never leave her on the street or at Sakura's house. You know how my friends are—they would have probably made her drink even more. But you know...she seemed like she was having fun, and I told you, she hates me. Even if I said anything to make her stop getting wasted, she wouldn't have listened to me."
"The question is...do YOU hate her?"
"Um...I don't know anymore." His expression showed how uncomfortable he was after that question.
"That's not a yes. So you should have at least said something to her girlfriends."
Sasuke knew that he had no power over the Hyuga girl's actions and decisions. Even if he made someone else tell her to take it slow, she still would have done whatever she wanted; besides, it would seem like he was concerned about her. And he wasn't...right?
"We are here." Itachi looked at the back seat, where Hinata was sleeping. "I'm going to try and explain to Neji. Just...find her key."
"Why can't she stay with you?" Sasuke protested, opening the door.
"Because I'm older and still at a party." Itachi opened the glove compartment.
"Don't give me anything, you pervert." Sasuke read his brother's mind before he even managed to get anything out of the compartment. "I'm not going to take advantage of her. Even if I liked her."
"You are growing up, little bro." Itachi laughed. "I was about to give you aspirin for her head when she wakes up."
"Thanks..." He blushed once again, realizing his brother didn't even think about anything like that.
The sun's light shined in Hyuga's eyes, making her wake up slowly and look around. She didn't recognize the place she was in. She wasn't naked or anything, but still, that looked like a guy's room. She definitely wasn't at Sakura's or Neji's.
"What the fuck..."
Hinata got up from the bed; her head was killing her, but she was determined to find out if someone took her virginity last night or if she was at some girl's house by any chance. It didn't look like it, but she hoped for it. Not even a single memory after 11 p.m. crossed her mind—just a bad taste in her mouth. The bluenette opened the door to the other room, finding none other than Sasuke Uchiha sleeping on the couch.
"Sasuke, dumbass! Wake up, right now!" she yelled, immediately waking the Uchiha up.
"For fuck sake, Hyuga!" he yelled back, covering his head with a blanket.
"What happened?"
"You were wasted; that happened." He moved the blanket back down, away from his face. "I couldn't find the key to your house or any key-"
"Shut up. Did you...you know?"
Her concerned face made Sasuke almost laugh his heart out, but he decided to just look away from her, trying his best to stay serious.
"Of course not. I did nothing but put you down on my bed."
"Just you holding my body is enough for me to feel dirty..."
"It didn't seem like that yesterday!" he hissed at her, getting up from the couch and walking slowly to the kitchen.
"What do you mean?" she followed him, continuing on with the questions.
"My head hurts from your questions, Hyuga!" he said, opening up one of the cabinets. "First of all, you told me to kiss you right before the new year began."
"I would never-"
"Later on, you hugged me in your sleep!"
The Uchiha took out a coffee capsule, looking right into the girl's eyes. Hinata's memories were still blurry, but when he mentioned that, her right hand went up to her mouth, covering it in shock. She actually did it. But why?
"Forget it, Hyuga. Or shall I call you Hinata, since you called me Sasuke yesterday?" He grinned at her, taking her hand away from her face and making her look right into his eyes, which were not too far away from hers.
"I'm going home."
Her cheeks, once again blushing, made her run away from the situation. Not only did she know he wasn't lying, but she didn't quite understand why her drunk self would flirt with Sasuke out of all the guys at the party. As Hyuga walked to the front door, about to open it, someone else from the other side opened it before her.
"Good morning!" Sasuke's brother smiled at her, making her even more uncomfortable.
"It's not what it looks like," she stated, with her hands up in the air.
"I know, I know," he laughed. "Neji's outside."
Hinata bowed, grabbing her shoes without even putting them on, and ran to Neji's car. She opened the passenger door, making herself comfortable and putting her shoes on. Her cousin looked concerned at her, but right before he was about to ask her anything about yesterday, she put the volume up to the max on the radio, making him close his mouth and focus back on the road.
Neji smiled to himself, looking at Hinata's distracted behavior. Not only was she eating so fucking slowly, but she was zoning out every 5 seconds, making him suspicious.
"Seems like I'm winning," he interrupted her thoughts.
"No, Neji. I don't like him that way. He just helped me, that's all."
"So you two didn't..."
"No! We slept in different rooms. Now cut it off."
Hinata got up from the table, leaving her dish not even half eaten. Neji let out a big sigh and a small smile. In his eyes, she was definitely crushing on the Uchiha. Sasuke was definitely the perfect choice in his opinion as well. They faced the same problems even at different ages, but still, they could understand each other way easier than anyone else could. From Itachi's words about Sasuke, he was actually a big softie deep down. He has never fallen in love, but it seemed like Hinata would be his first love—at least that's his brother's suspicion. For some reason, even if it looked like the two would never make a good couple, their families knew what was actually going on. The question was...would they actually realize the feelings they've been trying to hide and even 'remove' for so long?
"You can't just hide those feelings, Hina; that's the one feeling you can't hide." Neji whispered, hearing the front door close.
It's been a little bit more than a month, and the two teens didn't even speak a word to each other except "hello, dumbass". They both felt too awkward after New Year's to even insult each other in any way. That thing didn't go unnoticed by Sakura and Ino, who weren't as suspicious as they used to be. Naruto was desperate to make them speak like normal humans to each other, but it was useless. They were intentionally just looking away from each other, acting like the other wasn't there. But now, it was that day of the year when Sasuke Uchiha couldn't go unnoticed. Valentine's day. He didn't only receive presents, but also big confessions after school. Every year it was the same, but tonight he was saved by his brother, who had a birthday.
"I'm so glad Itachi has a birthday on Valentine's Day." And I made sure every girl knew it this year." Sasuke looked at his best friend, making a proud face. "So I won't receive any confessions after school," he said evilly to himself.
"Ah, I'm so jealous of you, Sasuke..."Naruto sighed, looking at his phone. "I haven't received anything when you've already gotten three confessions and six cards."
"And a few chocolates. The only thing I like about Valentine's Day" Sasuke took one out of his bag and took a bite.
Naruto looked at his crush, Sakura. Today, he was ready to confess. He had to do it eventually, or he wouldn't know if he should move on or if he would get her as his girlfriend. He dreamed of that happening, but she still seemed like she was into Sasuke. Uzumaki's look moved to Haruno's hands, which held chocolate and a card. Was she about to...
"Sasuke-kun!" She came up to the Uchiha. "I know I promised...but I can't just stop my feelings."
Her face now all red, she looked shy but confident as well when passing him the little gift.
"Thank you. But you know, I don't like you that way."
"It's okay." She tried her best to smile, but she felt like crying already.
And so did Naruto. He felt his head spin, and his arm got into a fist. He wanted to hit his friend so badly but held back. It wasn't his fault he was attractive. As Sakura walked away, Sasuke's hand moved to his best friend's shoulder.
"You okay, Naruto?" he whispered.
Naruto didn't want to answer or even speak to anyone. The only thing he wanted right now was to be by himself, at home, watching a movie on his own.
"Naruto..."
He wanted to yell at him. He wanted him to leave him alone, but at the same time, he was his best friend. He wasn't guilty of anything.
"I want to go home." He looked at the Uchiha with eyes that were about to be filled with tears.
He didn't even wait for a response; he just got up from his desk. He felt so stupid for having strong feelings for the Haruno girl. She was madly in love with his best friend, and he couldn't do anything about it. No one even considered Naruto anything more than a friend. And he felt like a clown at this point.
"Naruto? You okay?"
Hinata stopped him at the school entrance, looking concerned.
"I'm okay, Hinata."
"Do you...want to talk?"
He hasn't felt that way in a long time—like someone actually cared about him that wasn't Sasuke. Of course Sasuke cared, but it seemed like no one else did. But for the first time, he saw an actual girl worry about him.
"Let's say I got rejected by my crush. Something like that." He tried hiding his tears, but he wasn't really good at it.
"Naruto-kun... I'm not the best at giving advice, but...actually, do you want to skip school today? I don't feel like going today."
"Did you get rejected too?" Naruto asked jokingly, wiping off his tears.
"Nope. More like, I don't feel like meeting someone certain today."
"Your crush?"
Hinata just laughed in response, leaving his curiosity at that point, changing what they were talking about. She wanted to avoid all this drama today, and someone certain as well. But even if she tried, she was invited to his brother's birthday party later tonight. Even if she didn't want to go, Neji made her go. He explained that it would be too disrespectful not to. But for the Hyuga girl, it would be just a pain in the ass.
