1. "Tongue Tied" by Eko

In the gymnassium at Windy Falls Academy, it was time for cheer practice.

"Alright, everyone... five, six, seven eight!"

Music playes as the cheerleaders began practicing

You remind me of Friday fever when the sun went down

I could try to describe this feeling but just come around

You've probably heard a lot of stories about cheerleaders being these mean girls with little to no brains who only date jocks like the star quartback or captain of the football team. Well, the cheer squad here wasn't like that. In part because this team had girls and boys on it, and at Windy Falls, all sports required students to keep their grades up. Cheerleading was no exception.

Lay it down for the night

Tell myself I'm alright

We're all a little bit tongue tied

I think you're just my type

We could do it up for life

Your call but I'll be waiting outside

On this particular team, among the best of the squad was a young Boba Fett-Skywalker, who wouldn't have guessed in a million years that he would be on the cheer squad, or living a royal life. But ever since he made the squad, he found it so amazing. He got to raise people's spirit, spend time with his girlfriend Roya, and all the cool moves they did were both fun and a great workout.

A little bit tongue tied

A little bit tongue tied

A little bit tongue tied

A little bit tongue tied

"Alright, Boba. Get ready for the lift!" The coach called.

So, Boba did get ready. Part of training involved everyone getting a turn to be a lifter or a liftee, depending on size, weight, and strength. Even some of the smallest cheerleaders were heavier than they looked. This time around, Boba got to put his aim, his strength, and jumping skills to the test.

With determination in his eyes, Boba took the run, flipped over and pushed himself up toward the target.

But just as Boba was about to land on the top of the pyramid, something magical suddenly happened in the form of Boba sprouting his wings, which threw the other cheerleaders off and made everyone fall down!

Boba was able to start flapping and land on his feet.

"Boba! What happened?" Omega asked, helping another cheerleader up.

"I don't know." Boba said. "My wings just burst out of nowhere."

Boba folded them in and made them vanish like any other time. That was weird, he thought.

"Alright, everyone. Take five and we'll try again."

As school started, all the kids went to class to do the school stuff. Now that the cafeteria was cleaned up and fixed, school could resume as scheduled. And that was a good thing because there were less than two months left in the school year, and the eight grade class graduation was scheduled to go on soon.

Omega felt glad to be back in a real school again too. When you'e spent your whole life in one place, a real school can feel like a great new journey, especially when you find out all the different extracurricular activities you can do and you discover your passion while doing it.

Geography and Social Studies were turning out to be two of Omega's favorite classes, as they taught her about so many places she wanted to see. Recently, Carmine showed Omega the travel dreams book that his grandmother had made, and she started making herself a book like it with lists of all the great things she wanted to do when she got the chance to visit the places she learned about in school.

Before starting school, Omega had never heard of summer vacation, so she was going to get the best summer of her life with all the plans her family and friends were making. For one thing, it wouldn't be summer without a trip to the beach, and Aqualia and her pony Summer offered to teach Omega how to surf.

"Careful, Omega." Hera said.

Omega and Hera were partners in science class today, and they were studying chemical reactions by mixing baking soda and vinegar.

"I know." Omega said, getting the test tube with the vinegar.

But as Omega was picking up the tube, her other hand was glowing.

"Omega, no using magic." said Mr. Humphrey, their teacher.

"I'm not." Omega said, then noticed her hand glowing. "Huh? That's weird."

Omega rubbed her hand on her apron, but it didn't stop glowing. Then she tried shaking it, and then the glowing stopped.

"That was weird." Omega said, then she gasped when she felt something pop on her back in the form of her wings.

"Omega, what are you doing?" Hera asked.

"I don't think I did anything. They just... popped out of nowhere."

Omega managed to fold her wings back in. But it didn't end there.

Later, during gym class, the eighth graders were running laps across the room to warm up. The clone twins were both fast runners, and they both quite enjoyed getting to go as fast as they could.

"Bet I can finish my laps before you, sis!" Boba teased, speeding ahead of his sister.

"Not if I get there first!" Omega said determined, and she ran faster.

Boba did his best to keep up with his sister, and was catching up to her fast, when he suddenly tripped and fell on the floor. Luckily, Omega screeched to a stop and came back to check on him.

"Boba, are you okay?" Omega asked.

"I'm fine." But to Boba's shock, he found out his legs had turned into a tail. "Okay, this is weird."

"Looks like you sweated your legs away." teased one kid.

But that was the weird part. Mer-people's legs did turn into a tail if they got wet while they were in human form, but there was one exception to that rule. Sweat was the one kind of water that did not transform a mermaid on land. Especially not their own sweat.

"Correct me if I'm wrong," said Boba. "But I'm pretty sure sweat doesn't change a merman's legs into a tail. Even if it did, I'm not even that sweaty."

"It's true." Roya said. "Sweat does not transform mer-people."

The coach blew her whistle and asked Boba to turn back to human form and get back to running.

"Yes, Coach." Boba said. And he gave his tail a good whip, turning him back to human form, but as he got up, his wings popped out again and so did Omega's.

And then their hands started glowing again.

"What's going on?!" Boba panicked.

"I don't know!" Omega said, her wings just flapping and holding her upside down. It was a good thing she was wearing shorts at the moment, Boba tried making his wings disappear too, but he ended up making water appear from out of nowhere. Omega kept trying to control her powers too, but they just wouldn't stop! Within twi minutes, the gym was flooded!

Luckily, one of the other teachers saw and opened the door before the water could get any higher. And then, Boba and Omega both fell to the floor as they finally got their powers to stop. But... the look on the teachers' faces definitely signaled trouble.

Boba and Omega sat in the principal's office nervously as they were being sent home early. They hadn't even gotten to have lunch, and neither of them could think about food at a time like this anyway.

Mrs. Sumner heard a knock at the door, and in came Vice Principal Shamus.

"Principal Sumner, a Hunter Fett and Shmi Skywalker have arrived."

Since the clones didn't technically have last names of their own and not all of them got married so they could take their wives' names, the Batchers took on Jango's family name. They were clones if him too, like Boba and Omega, so biologically, they were Fetts, and they had to have surnames in order to be listed as trusted guardians, especially for the royal children. It seemed like the most logical choice since none of them were related to the Skywalkers or Jinns. Nevertheless, they were part of the family.

"Send them in, Parker." Mrs. Sumner said.

Moments later, the oldest Batcher and Shmi came into the office.

"Hi, Grandma." Boba said, looking embarrassed.

"Is everything okay, babies?" Shmi asked worriedly.

"Why are the twins being sent home exactly?" Hunter asked.

Mrs. Sumner explained to Shmi and Hunter that there were a few incidents reported earlier with the twins not being in control of their magic or their transformations in various classes.

"Has anything like this been happening at home, lately?"

"No. The twins have been fine." Shmi said. "But I'm not an expert on magic, so I cannot say for sure. Kids?"

The twins both shook their heads. And that was when Boba's legs became a tail again.

"Oh, come on!" Boba groaned. "That's the third time today!"

"Did either of you eat anything weird?" Hunter asked.

"I don't think so," said Omega. "Besides, we all ate the same things at breakfast this morning, and Gabby and Lamenta are fine. I think."

"I checked with Ms. Deera." Mrs. Sumner said. "Neither your younger granddaughters have experienced any magical mishaps to our knowledge, Ms. Skywalker. But none of us here are magical experts. Therefore, I suggest you take your grandchildren to see an expert on magic. I'll have Gabriella and Lamenta deliver your missed assignments for today later. You're free to go now."

Neither Boba nor Omega could believe this was happening. This was the first time they'd gotten into trouble at school to the point where they were sent home, and neither of them intentionally did anything wrong.

"Are we in trouble?" Omega asked her grandmother as they got to their vehicle.

"No, Omega. You and your brother are just experiencing something we don't know anything about yet."

"Do you think we could be sick?" Boba asked.

Hunter felt Boba's forehead and then Omega's.

"I'm not feeling any fevers." Hunter said. "Lets' get you two home so Garrett can check you out, and call a wizard doctor or something."

So, Boba and Omega were brought back to the palace, where Garrett was working on his next lesson plan for the magical members of the royal family. You could imagine he was surprised to see Boba and Omega back from school so early.

"What happened?" said Garrett.

"Kids got sent home from school because-" Hunter said until the twins finished the explanation for him with Omega's wings popping out and Boba falling down as his legs became a tail again.

"Because of that." said Omega. "Boba also flooded the gym, and I blinded one of the teachers on the way to the principal's office. It's been happening since first period today."

"Well... it is common for young Enchanteds to lose control of their powers during adolescence."

"But I feel fine." Boba said. "No growth problems lately."

"Omega?"

"Nope. Already had that time of the month pass two days ago." Omega shook her head.

Garret had Omega and Boba sit down and eat their lunch while he took some notes of what happened earlier that day and looked at some notes he'd taken on each of his students' progress over the last three months. He kept tabs on everyone's strengths, weaknesses, as well as how much experience they'd had in the past with magic.

Boba and Omega were a particularly interesting case. Since they were granted powers rather than born with them, they were a unique case. Garrett had never seen anything like this, and he was going to make the most of what he could learn from this. Along with being a hand-on experience explorer and professor, he was also an author who'd written many books about some of the great things he'd learned during his travels. He was on the verge of writing his newest book: With Great Power Comes Great Curiosity. As you can probably imagine, it is based on Boba and Omega earning powers rather than being born with them like most of their adoptive family.

In the history of all Enchanteds, the event of an ordina born child earning magical powers was practically unheard of. Sure, Echo got the power to talk to machines, but he didn't seem to exhibit any other magical abilities.

Garrett decided he needed to conduct a little experiment. But he would need his wife's help.

"Mari, Dear." Garrett called. "We've got research to do."

Boba kept his eyes shut tightly as he squeezed Shmi's hand

"Alright, Boba. It's over now." Mariposa said gently.

Shmi kissed Boba's head, and he sighed with relief when he saw a bandage wrapped around the underside of his elbow.

As it just so happened, Mariposa was a certified nurse. So, Garrett trusted only her to take a blood sample from each of the twins so they could analyze it together.

"Your turn, Omega." Mariposa said.

"Do I have to?" Omega said, sounding worried.

Given Omega's traumatic experiences back on Kamino, it was no surprise that Omega had a terrible fear of needles.

"Don't worry, Megs. You'll barely feel a thing. The needle is very tiny. You can have someone hold you if you want."

Omega looked at Hunter, and he let her sit in his lap as she hid her face in his chest so Mariposa could take a blood sample.

Hunter held Omega tightly and reassured her everything would be okay.

"Tell me when it's over." Omega said, still hiding her face.

"We're already done, Omega." Mariposa chuckled.

"Huh?"

Omega looked at her bandaged elbow and was surprised that she didn't feel a thing.

"You're a brave girl, Omega." Hunter praised.

"That's my brave little princess." Shmi added, kissing her granddaughter's head.

"Now we just need one from Echo as well, and from any Enchanted member of the family." Mariposa said.

"What exactly are you trying to do here?" Indira asked.

"After the incidents at the school this morning," said Mariposa. "We have reason to believe that Omega and Boba may be having a few issues adapting to their powers, given that neither of them were born Enchanted."

Neither Boba nor Omega needed to be reminded of that.

Boba recalled his days of feeling left out for being the only child with no magical powers, and then Omega came along, and they both earned powers that day they came to defeat Lady Morpha who captured their family and nearly got crowned the new queen of Solaris, and Boba sacrificed all the magic his family transferred to him to save their lives.

"But that was a long time ago." Boba said. "Why are we only facing these problems now?"

"It could be a simple case of hormonal imbalance," said Mariposa. "That is typically the main cause of loss of power control in adolescent Enchanteds. But we'll have to check your blood tests to be sure."

In late honor of St. Patrick's Day, I am going to create a chapter with a few lucky charms in it. Hope you enjoy when it's finished. For now, I hope you liked this chapter, and be on the lookout for updates on some of my other stories still in progress.
