Episode 205: Sora vs Gary
Night has come as Sora prepares for his battle against Gary. He did some research on his rival and he was amazed by how many Pokémon he had caught during his journey in Kanto and Johto. Gary had one of each type, same as Sora. Each and everyone of them were at a pretty high level and Sora knew it. His Blastoise was going to be especially challenging. He remembered watching Ash and Gary battle at the Indigo Plateau and how hard they went at it.
"Man, this is going to be way tougher than I think it is. I can't lose my cool. I have to give it everything I have. It's time to bury the hatchet once and for all," Sora said. Kairi woke up.
"Sora, why are you still awake?" Kairi asked. Sora looked at his girlfriend.
"I was just going over my strategy. Trying to figure out which Pokémon to use and everything," Sora said.
"I can be certain Gary is planning the same thing, but couldn't you have done it in the morning? You need your rest, because you'll be too tired to battle if you keep at it," Kairi said. Sora sighed.
"I guess you're right, Kairi. I should get some sleep," Sora said.
"Good night," Kairi said.
"Night," Sora said.
Sora and Kairi kissed each other goodnight and fell asleep.
Over to Gary, he was doing his research on Sora and looked over the Pokémon he has so far.
"Even though I got more Pokémon than Sora does, but he's going to be tough. He's even has legendary Pokémon under his belt and that's if he uses them against me. No matter what's thrown at me, I'm going to come out on top. Sora's going to lose big," Gary said. He heard a knock on the door. "Who could that be at this hour?" Gary walked over to the door and he saw it was Ash and Leaf. "Oh, it's only you two."
"Yeah, it's us. Think we can talk?" Ash asked.
"And no in case you're wondering, we're not spying on you for Sora," Leaf said.
"I know that. Sora would never ask you guys to do that. But why are you here in the middle of the night?" Gary asked.
"We just saw your light on and we decided to drop in," Ash said.
"It's been a while since we got together like this. Back when we were good friends," Leaf said.
"You could say that," Gary said.
"But there's a reason you're traveling in the Johto region and competing isn't there?" Leaf asked.
"Did Daisy tell you?" Gary asked.
"She didn't have to," Leaf said.
"You might as well just tell us what's on your mind, Gary," Ash said.
"If you must know. While I was traveling here in the Johto region, I've been thinking a whole lot. Trying to figure out something. What is it that I want to do in the future. You know what I mean?" Gary asked.
"I guess. What do you wanna do?" Ash asked.
"I don't know to be honest. I was trying hard to one-up Sora and well, I'm facing him tomorrow," Gary said.
"I can see that you want to win so badly, especially against Sora. But you shouldn't be afraid of losing. You can learn from your failures as well as you can learn from your accomplishments. Even your grandpa knew that," Ash said.
"Yeah. I found that the hard way when you beat me. And that's where and when the thinking started. But there's something I kept secret for a long time. The truth is, I was actually jealous of Sora," Gary said.
"Jealous? You? Of what?" Leaf asked.
"Well, everything that makes Sora, well, Sora. Back when we were little kids, Sora was a lot more popular than I was, and I envied him for it. Sora was the one all the girls had a crush on, and how he's the funniest kids in our class. And how brave he is. I bet you don't even remember that one night," Gary said. Ash and Leaf knew what he was talking about.
"You mean that one night in that cabin?" Ash asked.
"That's the one. All of the little kids there were all scared when that storm hit. When I said that I wasn't scared, the truth is, I was. I never told anyone because I didn't want to get teased and made of," Gary said.
"We wouldn't make fun of you, Gary," Leaf said.
"Yeah. None of us would thought any less of you. Not me, not her, not Sora," Ash said. Gary knew Ash was right about that. But he wondered what Sora would think if he did know his secret.
On the very next day, Sora woke up and he thought long and hard about which Pokémon he was going to use. He thought long and hard, so he decided to use Donphan, Tyranitar, Gyarados, Tauros, Heracross, and Charizard. He exchanged Raticate, Meganium, Typhlosion, and Feraligatr room for Tauros, Heracross, and Charizard.
After having a hardy breakfast, Sora is greeted by some familiar faces. It was Professor Oak, his mother, and his master.
"Hi, honey," Delia greeted.
"Mom? Professor? Master Rei?" Sora asked.
"We were watching your battles, Sora. You were amazing out there," Rei said.
"Indeed, Sora. When I heard you're battling Gary Next, I knew we had to come over," Professor Oak said.
"I hope you understand that I'm not going to go easy on him all because he's your grandson, professor," Sora said.
"I know you're not going to, Sora. I wouldn't want you to. I just wanted to wish you luck in the battle ahead," Professor Oak said.
"Thanks, professor," Sora said.
"Just do your best. And you'll be fine, Sora," Rei said.
"Yes, Master," Sora said.
Later, Ethan has won the battle against a girl with a Dragonite, using his Typhlosion on the Water battlefield. Ethan has lost his Noctowl, Steelix, Ampharos, Beedrill, and Kingler in the battle.
"And Ethan wins it!" The announcer announced as he and Typhlosion hi-five each other.
"I knew you could do it," Ethan said.
The next battle was about to begin as Ethan walks up to Sora.
"Great job on your win, Ethan," Sora said.
"Thanks, Sora. I wanna wish you luck in your battle against Gary," Ethan said.
"I might not need it, but I'll do my best," Sora said.
"I know you will, Sora. Just don't lose, because I want to beat you in the tournament," Ethan said. Sora chuckled.
"You're on," Sora said.
Percy has won his battle against a young man with a Tentacruel, using his Mr. Rime on the Ice Battlefield. Percy has lost only Slowbro and Weezing, and his remaining Pokémon were still able to battle.
"Percy from Postwick has gained his victory!" The announcer announced.
Professor Oak, Delia, Kairi's family, and Rei were watching the battles. Rei was proud of Ethan for his victory.
"That Pokémon reminded me of Mimey," Delia said.
"Yes. Mr. Rime is the evolved form of the Mr. Mime living in the Galar region. That Slowbro and that Weezing were very impressive. I was wondering what other Pokémon he had," Professor Oak said.
"I think the battle between Sora and Gary is about to start," Yuta said.
"This should be fun. Isn't that right, Seth?" Mirei said. She made it look like Seth was cheering for Sora. "Yeah, go, Sora, go! Yay!" The baby laughed at the mention of Sora.
It was now time for the battle between Sora and Gary. Kairi, Karen, and Ventus went with Sora to cheer for him as the rest of the group sat in the stands. Kairi had Angel, Togepi, Quilava, Chikorita, Jumpluff, Mismagius, Ampharos, Ledian, Smeargle, Corsola, Miltank, Sunflora cheering hard for Sora. Karen, Ventus, Blossom, Sparky, and the Pichu were cheering just as hard.
"Ladies and gentlemen! Our next battle is about to begin! Coming on the red corner is Gary Oak from Pallet Town! Coming in from the green corner is Sora Ketchum also from Pallet Town! Gary Oak is the grandson of the famous Pokémon researcher Professor Samuel Oak! It's Professor Oak's grandson against the Champion of the Indigo Plateau Pokémon League! This battle might go either way in this bout!" The announcer announced. The crowd roars with anticipation for an epic battle to watch. Gary's cheerleaders makes a return to root for Gary even after he had ditched them when he started his journey in the Johto region.
Over in Pallet Town, Daisy sat on the couch, watching the battle on TV. She just wanted it to be over because she loved both Sora and Gary very much.
Over in Odaiba City, Roxas, Axel, and Xion have tuned in just in time for Sora's battle against Gary.
Danny, Cattleya, and Yuki were watching it as well. Cattleya was feeding Yuki through her baby bottle.
"Now let's see which battlefield our two competitors will be fighting on!"The announcer announced. The randommizer goes off and the Rock Field is selected."And it's a Rock Field!"The battlefield is formatted into a Rock Field."It's time to see who shall be first to decide!"The randomizer goes off. Many of the girls in Sora's fanclub starts cheering for Sora hardily.
"Go! Gary! Knock that loser out of here" One man called out, before the girls batted him silly for calling Sora a loser.
"SHUT UP!" The girls hissed.
"Ow! How dedicated can a bunch of girls get?" The man wheezed. The randomizer selects Gary to choose first.
"And it's Gary Oak who will be making the first move! Which Pokémon will Gary be sending out first?" The announcer asked. Gary takes out a Pokéball and tosses it.
"Nidoqueen! I choose you!" Gary shouted as his Nidoqueen enters the battlefield. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"You're up first, Tauros!" Sora called out. Tauros emerged from inside, ready to battle. Tauros snorted.
"Gary has chosen Nidoqueen and Sora has chosen Tauros! Both of these young Trainers are starting out in a big way!" The announcer announced.
"Nidoqueen! Rock Smash!" Gary ordered. Nidoqueen slams her fist into the rocky battlefield and sends rocks and they pelt Tauros. The Wild Bull Pokémon endured the hit to the best of his abilities.
"Gary is making very good use of that battlefield! Those rocks are doing a number on Tauros!" The announcer announced.
"Gary's not the only one who knows how to use the Rock Field! Tauros! Use Horn Attack to knock the rocks back!" Sora ordered. Tauros sways his horns, swatting the horns back.
"For a moment there, it looked like Gary had the upper hand, but Sora is making good with the battlefield by knocking the rocks back!" The announcer announced.
"Charge right in with a Raging Bull!" Sora ordered. Tauros charges right at Nidoqueen with his horns giving off a reddish-brown glow.
"Grab him by the horns!" Gary called out. Nidoqueen grabbed Tauros by the horns.
"Nidoqueen has taken Tauros by the horns!" The announcer announced.
"Hyper Beam!" Gary ordered. Nidoqueen fired Hyper Beam and sent Tauros flying.
"Tauros!" Sora gasped. Tauros hits a rock, knocked out.
"Tauros is unable to battle! Nidoqueen wins!" The referee announced.
"Gary has taken the lead in this battle! Can Sora hope to turn this around?" The announcer asked. Sora called Tauros back and he took out his next Pokéball and threw it.
"You're up, Heracross!" Sora called out. Heracross has come out to battle. Gary calls Nidoqueen back. Sora then figured out his plan.
"Okay, I'm gonna guess you're sending a Fire, Flying, Psychic, or Fairy-type Pokémon against me. Which is it?" Sora asked in his thoughts.
"Go, Magmar!" Gary called out. His Magmar emerged from inside, ready to battle.
"Fire it is," Sora said.
"Sora has chosen Heracorss, so Gary has substituted for his Magmar!" The announcer announced.
"Flamethrower, now!" Gary ordered. Magmar fired Flamethrower right at Heracross.
"Dodge and use Arm Thrust!" Sora ordered. Heracross avoids Magmar's fire attack and gave Magmar a series of hand thrusts.
"That Arm Thrust scores a direct hit!" The announcer announced.
"Use Seismic Toss!" Sora ordered. Heracross gave Magmar a toss into the air. Magmar then starts to come straight down. "How's that, Gary?"
"Magmar, Fire Blast!" Gary ordered. Magmar fired a Fire Blast and dove right into it.
"Magmar has gone inside its own Fire Blast!" The announcer announced. Magmar collides with Heracross and pinning it to a rock. "Magmar's Fire Blast explodes across the field! Extremely effective!"
"Heracross!" Sora called out.
"Flamethrower!" Gary ordered. Magmar fired Flamethrower at close range.
"Again at close range, a Flamethrower!" The announcer announced. Magmar leaps back and lets the fire do the job. "This could be the end for Heracross!"
"Okay, Heracross, blow the flames away, now!" Sora called out. Heracross does so by beating his wings.
"Incredible! Heracross has faced the flames and used its wings to blow them away!" The announcer announced.
"Not bad, Sora," Gary said.
"Okay, Heracross! Megahorn!" Sora ordered.
Heracross' horn starts glowing light green before he charges right at Magmar.
"Magmar! Flamethrower!" Gary ordered.
The attack fires and stops Heracross's momentum, but Heracross powers through the fire and nails Magmar hard.
"Magmar is hit by a powerful Megahorn!" The announcer announced.
"Magmar!" Gary gasped. Magmar fell on its back, beaten.
"Magmar is unable to battle! Heracross wins!" The referee announced.
"Great work, Heracross! You see, Gary? My Pokémon are powerful enough to win, even at a disadvantage!" Sora said.
"With a disadvantage against Magmar, Heracross still managed to knock its opponent out using guts alone! And now this match is tied at one to one!" The announcer announced.
"Wow. What an exciting match," Delia said.
"And its no small wonder Heracross is so powerful after sucking sap out of my trees for so long. And the fight against those Nobodies has helped out," Professor Oak said.
"Sora just lucked out. But his luck's about to run out on him," Gary said, taking out a Pokéball and he kissed it. "Blastoise! I choose you!" His Pokéball opened and Blastoise came on out to battle.
"Gary's third Pokémon is a Blastoise!" The announcer announced.
"He's sending out Blastoise now?" Leaf asked.
"If I know Gary, I can guess he really wants to end this fast," Ash said.
"I knew he was gonna send out Blastoise at me sooner or later," Sora said. Pikachu got anxious to battle against Gary's Blastoise.
"Pika," Pikachu said, wanting to step in, but Kairi stopped him.
"No, Pikachu, you're not battling today," Kairi said.
"Pika?" Pikachu asked.
"Sora can only use the Pokémon he registered for the match, and you weren't registered. And if he just sends you in when you weren't chosen as one of the six, then he'd be disqualified," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said. Pikachu looked at Angel and he knew she was right. Pikachu had to swallow his pride and let Sora do it his way.
"Okay, Heracross! Use Megahorn!" Sora ordered. Heracorss charges at Blastoise with his horn giving off a light green glow.
"Blastoise! Hydro Pump!" Gary ordered. Blastoise fired Hydro Pump and it heads right towards the Single Horn Pokémon. Heracorss then lands a hit onto Blastoise. The Shellfish Pokémon missed his target just before the hit.
"Use Arm Thrust!" Sora ordered. Heracross gave Blastoise some hits with Arm Thrust.
"Hydro Pump!" Gary ordered. Blastoise fired Hydro Pump, hitting Heracross, sending him against a rock.
"Heracorss!" Sora exclaimed. Heracross was down for the count.
"Heracross is unable to battle! Blastoise wins!" The referee announced.
Sora took out his next Pokéball and threw it.
"Your turn, Tyranitar!" Sora called out. The Pokéball opened and Tyranitar enters the battlefield. Tyranitar whips up a sandstorm upon entry.
"Sora has sent out a Tyranitar! Sora's Tyranitar is at a type disadvantage since it's up against a Water-type Pokémon, but a sandstorm kicks in as soon as it enters the battlefield!" The announcer announced.
"Wait, why is there a sandstorm?" Delia asked.
"It's Tyranitar's ability, Sand Steam. Upon entry, it kicks up a sandstorm. Using this, Rock, Ground, Steel-types, and Pokémon with the ability called Sand Veil are immune to the sandstorm, but any other Pokémon aren't so fortunate," Professor Oak said.
"Blastoise! Hydro Pump!" Gary ordered. Blastoise fired Hydro Pump right at the Armor Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Dark Pulse!" Sora ordered. Tyranitar avoids Blastoise's Hydro Pump and unleashed a Dark Pulse, hitting Blastoise. "Use Stone Edge!" Tyranitar unleashed Stone Edge right at Blastoise.
"Tyranitar dodges Blastoise's Hydro Pump and made good use with its Dark Pulse followed by Stone Edge!" The announcer announced.
"Use Crunch!" Sora ordered. Tyranitar lands a heavy bite onto Blastoise. Blastoise was also getting pelted by the sand.
"Hydro Pump all around the battlefield!" Gary ordered. Blastoise fired Hydro Pump all over the battlefield and washed the sandstorm away.
"Blastoise blew the sandstorm away with that Hydro Pump!" The announcer announced.
"No way!" Sora exclaimed.
"Use Hydro Pump!" Gary ordered. Blastoise fired Hydro Pump.
"Dodge it!" Sora called out. Tyranitar attempts to dodge, but he's struck hard by Blastoise's attack and knocked out.
"Tyranitar is unable to battle! Blastoise wins!" The referee announced.
"Tyranitar makes the third Pokémon Sora has lost to Gary! He's gonna have to rethink his strategy if he wants to win this match!" The announcer announced. Sora called back Tyranitar.
"Get some rest, Tyranitar. You've earned it," Sora said. He took out another Pokéball and threw it. "Your turn, Gyarados!" Stars swirls around Gyarados upon entry.
"Evolved from a gold Magikarp, we see a red Gyarados!" The announcer announced.
"Blastoise! Use Skull Bash!" Gary ordered. Blastoise launched himself at the Shiny Atrocious Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Dragon Pulse!" Sora ordered. Gyarados managed to avoid Blastoise's Skull Bash, and fired a Dragon Pulse.
"Use Rapid Spin!" Blastoise spins around and Dragon Pulse bounces right off. "Now use Hydro Pump!" Blastoise fired Hydro Pump right at Gyarados.
"You fire Hydro Pump, too!" Sora ordered. Gyarados fired his own Hydro Pump and used it to block Blastoise's Hydro Pump.
"Blastoise and Gyarados are locking their Hydro Pumps! They look equally matched!" The announcer announced. Gyarados pushes Blastoise's Hydro Pump back and lands a hit.
"That Gyarados is tough. I better switch with one of my other ones just to call it safe," Gary said, calling his Blastoise back.
"Gary is calling back his Blastoise! He must be substituting it for one of his other ones!" The announcer announced.
"Gary doesn't normally play it safe," Ash said.
"He must have saw how strong that Gyarados is and switched with one of his others," Leaf said. Gary took out another Pokéball.
"You're not the only one who can make a disadvantage work, Sora. Go! Arcanine!" Gary called out. Arcanine came on out.
"Gary's fourth Pokémon is Arcanine! It seems Gary has made an error in judgement in making that move, unless he has an ace up his sleeve!" The announcer announced.
"Use Wild Charge!" Gary ordered. Arcanine charges at Gyarados with a electricity emitting from its body.
"Dodge it!" Sora called out. Gyarados tried to dodge, but Arcanine was too quick for Gyarados to dodge. Sora calls Gyarados back and he took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"You're up, Donphan!" Sora called out. Donphan came on out to battle.
"Sora's substituting Gyarados for Donphan! Arcanine's Wild Charge will have no effect against this Ground-type!" The announcer announced.
"Donphan is it? That's not going to help you! Arcanine! Fire Spin!" Gary ordered. Arcanine fired a Fire Spin, trapping Donphan in the vortex.
"Doesn't look like Sora's going to make any switches as long as that Fire Spin stays in place!" The announcer announced.
"Use Rollout!" Sora ordered. Donphan curls into a ball and rolled out of the fiery vortex and nails the Legendary Pokémon.
"Super-effective!" The announcer announced.
"Rollout gets stronger the more times it hits! Keep it up!" Karen said.
"Pika!" Blossom said.
"Dodge it, Arcanine!" Gary said.
"Keep it up!" Sora called out. Donphan deals some more damage the more times he struck. Donphan lands one more hit and Arcanine ends up beaten.
"Arcanine is unable to battle! Donphan wins!" The referee announced.
"Sora has put a real dent, dealing with two of his Pokémon in a row! Which one is Gary going to send out next?" The announcer asked as Gary calls back his Arcanine. He took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"You're up, Nidoqueen!" Gary called out. Nidoqueen is sent back out to battle.
"Gary has sent his Nidoqueen out on the battlefield!" The announcer announced.
"Be careful, Donphan. Nidoqueen knows Hyper Beam," Sora warned. Donphan nodded as he understood.
"Nidoqueen! Use Body Press!" Gary ordered. Nidoqueen came at Donphan with a full force of her body.
"Dodge and use High Horsepower!" Sora ordered. Donphan avoids Nidoqueen's attack and rammed into Nidoqueen with his tusks. "Use Earthquake!" Donphan slammed on the ground, making the ground shake. "Use High Horsepower again!" Donphan rammed into Nidoqueen, dealing some extra damage, resulting in a knockout.
"Nidoqueen is unable to battle! Donphan wins!" The referee announced.
"And that's two Pokémon in a row that Donphan has taken down! That is one tough elephant Pokémon!" The announcer announced. Gary calls Nidoqueen back and smiled.
"Not bad, Sora. Let's see how you handle this one," Gary said, taking out another Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Scizor!" Gary called out. Scizor emerged from inside, ready to battle.
"And Gary's fifth Pokémon is a Scizor!" The announcer announced.
"Okay, Donphan! Use High Horsepower!" Sora ordered. Donphan charges right at Scizor with another High Hosrsepower.
"Dodge and use Metal Claw!" Gary ordered. Scizor darts at Donphan, quickly overwhelming him. "Use X-Scissor!" Scizor lands an X-Scissor onto Donphan, dealing some damage, but he was still standing.
"Donphan just took that, didn't he?" Mirei asked.
"That's because of Donphan's ability, Sturdy. It prevents one hit knockouts. A close shave for Donphan," Professor Oak said.
"Use Quick Attack!" Gary ordered. Scizor darts at Donphan, making the finishing blow. Donphan was knocked out.
"Donphan is unable to battle! Scizor wins!" The referee announced.
"Gary has put a real dent on Sora's comeback attempt as he has three Pokémon remaining as Sora has two," the announcer announced.
"Oh, just when Sora was bouncing back," Ventus said.
"Don't worry, Ven. Sora's going to bounce again," Karen said.
"She's right, Ven. Sora's been in the corner and managed to bounce back," Kairi said.
"Yeah!" Ventus said.
Sora called Donphan back and he took out his next Pokéball and threw it.
"Okay, Gyarados! Back to action!" Sora called out. Gyarados came back out with a swirl of stars.
"Gyarados comes back out to battle again!" The announcer announced.
"Okay, Scizor! Use X-Scissor!" Gary ordered.
"Use Flamethrower!" Sora ordered. Gyarados fired Flamethrower, engulfing Scizor in the flames, resulting in a knockout.
"Scizor is unable to battle! Gyarados wins!" The referee announced.
"Now Gary is down to two Pokémon remaining! Gary will have to think fast to Sora!" The announcer announced. Gary took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Golem!" Gary called out. His Golem emerged from inside the Pokéball.
"Gary's sixth Pokémon is a Golem!" The announcer announced.
"Use Stone Edge!" Gary ordered. Golem sends Stone Edge right at the Shiny Atrocious Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Ice Fang!" Sora ordered. Gyarados dodged and came at the Megatom Pokémon. Gyarados gave Golem an icy bite with Ice Fang. "Use Hydro Pump!" Gyarados fired Hydro Pump and pushes Golem in it, resulting in a knockout.
"Golem is unable to battle! Gyarados wins!" The referee announced.
"Gyarados has taken down two in a row, just like Donphan! Now all that's left is his Blastoise!" The announcer announced. Gary took out his last Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Blastoise!" Gary called out.
"I knew Gary was saving Blastoise for last after the last time. Gyarados! Use Dragon Pulse!" Sora ordered. Gyarados unleashed Dragon Pulse right at Blastoise.
"Use Rapid Spin!" Gary ordered. Blastoise withdraws in his shell and spins around, cutting through Gyarados's Dragon Pulse. Blastoise lands a hit onto Gyarados. "Use Hydro Pump!" Blastoise fired Hydro Pump and struck Gyarados down, resulting in a knockout.
"Gyarados is unable to battle! Blastoise wins!" The referee announced.
"And now Sora is now down to one more Pokémon. The next Pokémon Sora chooses will either make a difference or it'll cost him," the announcer announced. Sora called Gyarados back and smiled.
"You battled hard, Gyarados. Get some rest," Sora said as he took out his last Pokéball and held it for a moment. "Okay, it's time to make a difference." He threw his Pokéball. "Go! Charizard!" His Pokéball opened and Charizard came right out to battle.
"Sora's final Pokémon is his Charizard! Gary has once again gained the advantage point since Fire-type Pokémon won't fare against Water-type Pokémon!" The announcer announced.
"He's using his own Charizard for this?" Leaf asked.
"It looks like history might repeat itself," Ash said.
"Blastoise! Hydro Pump!" Gary ordered. Blastoise fired Hydro Pump right at the Flame Pokémon.
"Charizard! Dodge and use Flamethrower!" Sora ordered. Charizard flies out of the way and Hydro Pump misses its mark.
"Charizard just avoids Blastoise's attack just by flying! What a miraculous save!" The announcer announced. Charizard fires Flamethrower right at Blastoise.
"Block it with Hydro Pump!" Gary ordered. Blastoise fires Hydro Pump to block Flamethrower and it creates a steamy mist upon making contact.
"The combined attacks of water and fire has created a steamy mist! I am having a hard time seeing where Charizard is flying!" The announcer announced. The mist begins to weaken as a glow is suddenly seen. "Wait a minute! I think I'm seeing something! It think it's the flame at the tip of Charizard's tail!" The mist completely vanishes. "Charizard is still in the air!"
"Wing Attack!" Sora ordered. Charizard flew down to strike Blastoise. Charizard's wings smacks Blastoise hard. "Now use Dragon Claw!" Charizard swipes right at Blastoise.
"Charizard is really giving its all to Blastoise! How will Gary respond?" The announcer asked.
"Blastoise! Water Pulse!" Gary ordered. Blastoise forms a ball of water and hurls it right at Charizard. When Water Pulse makes contact, Charizard fell to the ground, but it wasn't enough to bring down Charizard completely.
"Charizard was able to hold on after taking such a hit from Blastoise's Water Pulse! This battle is truly heating up!" The announcer announced.
"Use Slash!" Sora ordered.
"Use Rapid Spin!" Gary ordered.
Both fully evolved starter Pokémon came at each other and gave each other a strike on the mark.
"Those two aren't backing down in an inch! How long can those two keep going?!" The announcer asked.
"Again!" Sora and Gary shouted. Charizard and Blastoise gave each other the same attacks and with the same results. Charizard and Blastoise stare at each other before an aura has appeared on the both of them; red for Charizard with his flame burning even hotter than before; a blue aura surrounds Blastoise.
"Charizard and Blastoise's abilities, Blaze and Torrent has been activated! Now their Fire and Water-type attacks are increased tenfold!" The announcer announced.
"Blastoise! Hydro Pump!" Gary ordered. Blastoise fires Hydro Pump right towards Charizard.
"Dodge it and fire Flamethrower! Make it a big one!" Sora ordered. Charizard fires Flamethrower and it's much bigger and hotter than normal.
"Whew! Is it getting hot up here or is it the battlefield? Charizard is firing a much more powerful Flamethrower attack!" The announcer announced. The flames were so hot, all of the rocks on the Rock Field began to melt like a stick of butter. "Wait a minute! That Flamethrower is so hot, the whole battlefield is melting! It feels like we're close to the sun!" Everyone was at awe.
Flamethrower strikes Blastoise hard and engulfs in flames. The flame burns passionately for a few moments until the flames subsided. Blastoise had some burns on his body and is still standing on his feet. Both Pokémon ended panting for a few moments before Blastoise has fallen on its lower shell. Gary was at a total loss for words when he witnessed his first and most powerful Pokémon had fallen to the hands of his rival's Pokémon.
"Blastoise is unable to battle! Charizard wins! Sora Ketchum from Pallet Town wins the battle!" The referee announced.
"Sora has defeated Gary Oak! What a tremendous battle that was!" The announcer announced.
Gary's cheerleaders were disappointed that he lost, but as for Gary himself; he just closed his eyes and smiled. He didn't even care that he had lost.
"So, this is how it ends," Gary said to himself. He calls back his Blastoise. He looked right at his Pokéball and kept smiling. "Thank you, Blastoise. You and the others battled hard and gave it everything you had. I couldn't ask for any better Pokémon other than you."
Kairi, Karen, Ventus, Pikachu, Angel, Sparky, and the other Pokémon came to Sora and they cheered for Sora.
Back over to Ventus's house in Porta Vista, Danny and Cattleya smiled as they kiss each other as Yuki laughed and clapped her little hands.
Over in Odaiba City, Roxas and Xion just smiled as they hugged each other. Axel had stepped out sometime ago. Then they blushed when they realized how close they were to each other. They then blushed when they separated.
"Sorry, I was caught in the moment," Roxas said.
"So was I, Roxas," Xion said. She then said in her thoughts, "He hugged me. He felt so warm. I liked it."
"I can't believe I hugged her. She was so soft," Roxas said in his thoughts.
Axel came back to the room.
"Hey, guys. Did I miss anything?" Axel asked.
"You missed the end of the battle," Roxas said. Axel almost fell.
"Aw, shoot," Axel pouted. Roxas and Xion just laughed.
Over to Pallet Town, Daisy just tearfully smiled.
"I'm just glad it's over," Daisy said.
"I knew you would pull it off, Sora," Kairi said. She held her boyfriend's hand up with hers as the crowd kept on cheering. Rei just smiled, feeling proud of her apprentice.
"Good job, Sora," Rei said.
"I hope you're not disappointed that your grandkid lost, professor," Yuta said.
"Actually, I'm proud of the both of them. They both gave it everything they had, not taking defeat as an option. Gary actually respected Sora despite his jealousy. He also considers Sora as one of his best friends," Professor Oak said.
"I know Sora is the same way," Delia said.
That night, Gary is sitting in front of the lake. Sora shown up along with Pikachu. He had a treat for each of them. It was sea salt ice cream.
"Hey, Gary," Sora greeted.
"Sora, hey. Thanks for coming," Gary said. He notices the ice cream treats. "Is that ice cream?"
"Yeah. An ice cream booth was selling these, so I thought I'd share one of them with you," Sora said. He offered it to Gary. "Here." Gary accepts the ice cream bar. Gary took a bite.
"Hey, this is good. Sweet and salty," Gary said.
"So what did you want to talk to me about?" Sora asked.
"I've been thinking about our battle today. It was awesome. I don't even care that I lost," Gary said.
"I felt the same way during our battle. I kinda had fun battling you," Sora said, biting his ice cream.
"So did I. The reason I called you here is that I wanted to confess something to you," Gary said, taking another bite. This got Sora curious.
"Confess what?" Sora asked.
"The truth is, I was jealous of you ever since we known each other. Jealous that you were the most popular kid in our class; even more than me," Gary said.
"Me? More popular than you?" Sora asked.
"You heard me right, Sora. Everyone all liked you over me. Every girl in our class had a crush on you. All except for Leaf. Also you were the funniest kid, and you were the bravest. Remember that one stormy night?" Gary asked. Sora knew what he was talking about.
"Yeah, what about it?" Sora asked.
"Well, the truth is, I was actually scared that night, even though I said I wasn't. You were the only one who wasn't scared. I remember the jokes you told, and the songs we sang. You stopped us from being scared," Gary said.
"I never knew that," Sora said.
"Well, now you know. Another example of bravery I saw was when I first saw you fighting the Heartless with that Keyblade. I was scared when I saw them. And more so when that Damian guy turned into one," Gary said.
"Well, to be honest, I was scared when I first saw them. It was the day you, me, Ash, and Leaf got our first Pokémon. Because I wanted to keep Kairi, Pikachu, and her Eevee, Angel safe. And that was when I got this," Sora said, summoning his Kingdom Key. "It's funny how things happen for a reason. My mom did say things happen for a reason."
"They sure do," Gary said, taking his last bite of the ice cream. "Anyway, I want to wish you luck, Sora."
"Thanks, Gary," Sora said, dismissing his Keyblade. He shook Gary's hand.
