A Hero to Their Core

Chapter 4

Sorry this took a while. I've been going over a few different ideas on where and how to introduce Joey, Lina and Heroman to the public in MHA. But I just had to rewatch some of the episodes in my head a few times to get an idea on where to go with the sports festival and the introduction. So on with the show.

(No POV)

With Joey and Lina working over all the students at UA with their exercises, some had felt more of an urge to drop out. Mineta and Koda from class 1-A had been the leading ones, and Tsubarabara from 1-B wasn't too far behind them. But in at least in the 1-A students case, they had been inspired by the will and courage of the new hero teachers and fellow students like Izuku. Meanwhile Monoma kept pushing his class on, to make sure that they wouldn't be left behind by class 1-A.

During some of the lessons with the Center City teachers, Joey would bring out Heroman. He explained that, "sometimes you'll be up against a foe who has a terrifying advantage in strength and durability. And even with as strong as some of your powers are, they won't be enough." To demonstrate, he had Todoroki freeze Heroman. Who not only broke out with little effort, but smashed through three more ice waves like they were nothing. And then got in close to slam the boy onto the ground. For the dense duo, they both thought they could handle what Heroman dished out. And they were promptly stomped up to their waists into the ground. Or magnetized to Heroman to use as a club. Or were both picked up and used to batter around the rest of the students.

Izuku was a different story. Joey and Lina had taken time to work with the boy a bit more than the others. "You haven't had your powers for long. And you seem to not handle what you can do that well. I'll focus on teaching you more hand to hand fighting." Lina said after asking him to stay back. Joey on the other hand considered a way for Izuku to better use his power. Noting that his own superspeed doesn't require him to think about it. "I think you need to get used to letting it flow. You mentioned needing to learn to reign in the power you can put out. But when you figure out the output, you need to do more than focus it in one spot." Izuku asks what he means, but Joey shakes his head before saying he had to figure part of that out himself.

Izuku eventually learned what his limit was, at about 5% power. But he still couldn't use it efficiently. Constantly trying to shift from one point to another. But on the other hand, Izuku had grown as a martial artist to a point. While he still couldn't land a blow on Lina, he had gotten better at anticipating all moves and attacks. As well as attacking and countering effectively.

Nezu meanwhile was impressed by the teen teachers work ethic when it came to helping the students. And he thought of changing up the usual student introduction speech. As well as telling the world who Joey was and what he was capable of. He already knew the three were moonlighting and either saving people in certain situations or were helping with construction and other public works. "They deserve to be recognized for their efforts even if they feel it isn't something special. And in many ways that is what makes their actions even more special." Nezu said while drinking tea in his office.

Most of the faculty agreed with the principal, but they were also concerned at how this matter and set of actions could affect the rest of the area. As well as hero society as a whole. But on the day of the Sports Festival, Joey was no where to be found. Nezu though had a few ideas and decided to ask Lina.

"Young Davis? A moment please." When Lina met with the principal he just asked a few questions about what she and Joey had been researching. Lina sheepishly mentions they had looked up, "the possible location of a really huge villain. Most don't think he's real, but Joey is more willing to believe that something extra dangerous is out there." She gives the location of a mountain range that they had identified as the creature's most likely haunt.

Nezu smiled even bigger before calling for a news helicopter to head to the coordinates. "Looks like young Jones's debut will be a bigger spectacle that he would have preferred." The rodent like principal chuckled to himself, while giving the news copter access to the big screens.

In the mountain range though, Joey has been searching for an hour when he finds the quarry he was looking for. "Who are you?" The large beastly villains shouts out. Joey isn't intimidated though and responds with, "just someone planning to take you down." This seems to anger the monster and he tries to smash Joey with his huge fist. Joey though has already sped out of the way and unleashes a normally paralyzing blow to the monster's neck. But the giant is barely fazed by this.

"Tricky little gnat!" the villain calls out trying to grab Joey a few more times. But he can never catch the boy. Who in turn is setting a few other plans and ideas in motion. One certain one, is when he gets right in front of the monster's face and uses his gauntlet to create a flash that blinds the giant villain. Said villain reacts violently and throws a punch right at his own face. Joey of course dodges, and Gigantomachia smashes his face so hard he makes his nose bleed.

He shifts to relying on the dog senses but Joey throws those off as well with sonic and concussion rounds borrowed from Lina. And while the monster is reeling, he pulls out Heroman and activates him. All the while, the action has been caught by the news copter that Nezu sent that way. "This is incredible! We need to go live NOW!" the reporter in the helicopter shouts. With that the fight between Gigantomachia and the Center City heroes begins in earnest.

"Heroman! I wouldn't bet he can feel pain! Let alone the fact of how dense his body is! So you can go all out!" Joey shouts to Heroman before activating burst mode. With that, large amounts of electricity start arcing around Heroman's body. He then rushes in and punches the arm of the giant. Which makes said arm crack from the impact. The giant doesn't feel this but can tell he's taken damage. "Who the strong one!? And where you go gnat!?" he shouts as Joey runs around using a variety of other things to throw off Gigantomachia.

This is all being seen by the heroes and the rest of the nation as the battle is being broadcast over the same channel as the UA sports festival. The reporter is giving his commentary about the whole matter with, "I don't know who the young man is, but he is facing off with a truly terrifying foe! This giant seems to possess either a quirk that makes him near invulnerable or something similar! And he's barely taken any damage from the strange electric hero down there!" When Lina see's just how imposing of a threat Gigantomachia is, she closes her eyes and starts to pray a bit for her two hero's safety.

For the students though, they are all seeing their new instructor and his partner in a new light. Some positive, some negative. But for said young man, he has been setting more and more charges all around the large villain's body. Some of the charges are specifically to recharge Heroman during the fight. But others have a different purpose.

When Gigantomachia tenses up his muscles to harden himself, the electro charges activate. Causing something akin to a full body cramp. "AAAHHHH! DAMNIT!" the giant shouts before getting barraged in the face with a mixture of punches from Heroman. Said punches not only break most of Machia's teeth, but even his jaw. With realizing that he could lose this fight, the beast tries to run using his mole quirk. But Joey uses a second set of charges to attack his hands.

These set his hands on fire, and even with pain blocking, Machia can't concentrate enough to make his claws work. Especially when Heroman recharges more and uses burst to punch and slam into the weaker legs of the monster. This sends him collapsing down, and Joey duplicates what he did against the Nomu and shield launches the monster into the air. Heroman follows him up, unleashing blow after blow. With enough power that it actually breaks a few more of Gigantomachia's bones.

Joey at this point has mag leapt up to the head where Heroman is and throws a variety of knockout and sleep grenades into the monster's mouth. Heroman then gets behind the monster's back and pulls him down into a spinning piledriver. With the impact that happens, the helicopter gets blown away a bit. After the dust has settled, Heroman and Joey are standing on top of the monster. With said beast's head buried into the ground. When the heroes get back on solid ground, Machia appears to try one last thrash before passing out.

He lashes out with his arm, but Heroman intercepts it with a punch of his own. And with Joey strengthening and pushing his power forward, Heroman's punch obliterates Gigantomachia's right arm. This shocks and slightly disturbs a few of the people watching. And while Nezu was a bit unsettled by the desperate measure that Joey and Heroman had taken he is still impressed with the result.

With that he announces, "that young man is not a hero from our world! He is a hero from a different one who has saved it along with his partner there multiple times! And his name is JOEY JONES!" At saying that a few of the images of what Joey has accomplished in his world appear on the screen. More and more people are amazed that this young boy could be a great hero equal to the great All Might. For one who came to watch his son compete in the sports festival, he sees this matter as a rather intimidating one.

Nezu continues with saying, "That is not all this boy has done. He came to our world by accident along with his other partner miss Lina Davis. She herself is a hero in her own right. Without powers, she has defeated multiple members of our hero class. As well as beating a few teachers, and the young man who has been considered to be the next number 1!" At that announcement, the videos of the hero course training sessions and the sparing matches from the day after the USJ incident are shown. This amazes more people and makes them wonder if anyone could do what she could.

All Might then comes in to announce that both teens were in fact the newest hero teacher at UA. "And that is not all. I'm sure a few have heard about the interruptions to certain raids. Or that some parts of construction and similar good deeds have been done around the country? Well… That young man down there is the one who has been doing it. He will not ask for a reward, or recognition. He only seeks to help or do the right thing….. because it is the right thing to do. And that makes him a true hero." With that statement, even more people are amazed by the young man on the screen.

Who turn finally notices the helicopter flying above him. And that it is a news copter. "Oh, come on." Joey says with a sigh and a facepalm. He disengages Heroman before saying to himself, "well, let's get this over with." As the helicopter lands, the report starts asking a few questions. But not before passing a piece of paper from Nezu

I knew you would probably try to avoid the sports festival and do something heroic away from everyone else. But in turn this could make for quite the spectacle on its own. Don't think less of me for using this to introduce you to our world.

With another annoyed sigh and facepalm, Joey accepts that he has been once again announced to the world. And how the world will react to this strange new hero, he may not know. All he does know is that, (with seeing police and other officers arriving to detain Gigantomachia) he stopped a very dangerous villain who could kill many people. And that was enough for him.

Yeah I'm getting a bit crazy knocking out a major villain but I wanted a serious sight for introducing the entire world to Joey and Heroman. Had to be on the series finale level. And while Gigantomachia isn't quite there, he was close enough for what I had in mind. Please review!
