"You're going to have to tell the mission board our plans," Neji pointed out, fairly sure that Naruto hadn't thought through the finer details of how all this would work.
"Why?" Naruto frowned, confirming Neji's suspicion. I love how incredibly naïve he can still be sometimes.
"Darling," Neji smiled, drawing closer and trailing his hand down Naruto's firm, masculine chest. "I think they're going to notice when you sprout breasts."
"Oh, right," Naruto blushed.
"Besides, I think you'll need to withdraw from missions for now."
"What? No way!"
"Do you really think you can maintain the sexy jutsu constantly and expend chakra on other jutsu? Missions require full attention, you owe your teammates that if nothing else," Neji pointed out, waiting for Naruto to concede the inevitability. He could see it playing over on Naruto's face, the stubborn desire to carry out missions by any means slowly giving way to reason and logic. "Remember our mission with Tenten to the weapon maker?"
On that mission Tenten had caught them not exactly paying attention to the mission like they should have been. In fact, it was how she had learned of their relationship.
Naruto huffed out a sigh, obviously remembering Tenten's objections too.
"So, no missions for nine months?"
"At least. We don't know how long it will take for you to fall pregnant."
"Nejiii..." Naruto whined dropping his forehead against Neji's shoulder, as though there were something he could do about it. There was only one solution if Naruto wanted to continue going on missions. He wrapped an arm around Naruto, rubbing his back soothingly.
"Of course, nothing is written in stone. If it's too much, if you don't want to give up mission work, we don't have to do this."
Though Neji wanted a child with Naruto very much, he understood that it was Naruto's body and ultimately the decision lie with him.
Naruto leaned back and fixed a serious look on him.
"Really?"
"Of course not. Whatever you decide, I'll support you. With or without a child, my love for you won't change."
Naruto frowned in thought.
"It's a big commitment, huh?"
"It is," Neji agreed.
"I'd have to give a lot up."
"You would."
Naruto thought about it for a minute before he spoke again.
"But I think if I don't do it, I'll be giving up more. We'll make the cutest kid, won't we?"
"Yes, Naruto," Neji smiled, booping Naruto's nose. "I believe we will."
"Okay then," Naruto nodded, the fire of determination filling him like Neji had seen many times before. And if he knew one thing about the man he loved, it was that he didn't stop until he achieved whatever it was he set his mind to. "I'll do it. Whatever it takes."
Neji pressed a grateful kiss to Naruto's mouth.
"You are an incredible person, my love, and you continue to amaze me every single day."
Naruto smiled and kissed him again.
"But," Naruto said. "I'm not the only one who has to make a sacrifice, you know…"
"Oh?"
"Yeah," he grinned, dropping his voice to a more seductive tone and running his hands down his body. "You'll be giving all this up."
It was true, he wouldn't see the man he loved for many months, but he would have the person he loved right beside him. Still... Neji wrapped both arms around Naruto and pulled him close.
"Well, we had best make the most of it then..."
