Neji gently stroked the soft skin of Naruto's tummy. They'd heard the baby's heartbeat for the first time today.
"It's pretty amazing, huh?" Naruto said. "I'm growing our baby in there..."
"It is," Neji agreed, leaning down to softly press his lips to Naruto's tummy. Having seen the ultrasound today, there was something Neji wanted to try, but only if Naruto was okay with it. He looked up and met Naruto's eyes.
"May I?" he asked.
"Yeah..." Naruto breathed.
"Byakugan!"
Immediately he could see Naruto's immense chakra, a little duller than usual because he was burning up so much of it maintaining the sexy jutsu constantly, but still brighter than most ninja Neji had met.
He focused on Naruto's abdomen.
"Oh..." he said, delightfully surprised.
"What?"
"It's quite incredible."
"What is?"
"A chakra network. It's there already, I can see it. A tiny chakra network."
It wasn't as defined as Neji was used to seeing, but it was definitely there, glowing with life.
He blinked the byakugan away, and looked into Naruto's blue eyes again, overwhelmed with joy.
"You're really doing it, Naruto. Bringing a brand-new ninja into the world."
Naruto smiled and touched his face.
"I love how happy that makes you."
Neji touched Naruto's hand and kissed his palm, immensely grateful for what he was making possible.
"I believe this is the happiest I've ever been."
Naruto smiled, a soft smile Neji wasn't used to, but it suited him in this feminine body. Naruto looped his arms around Neji's neck, and pulled him down, so their faces were only inches apart.
"Me too, Neji. I love having you to share this with."
