Chapter Text
Ahem Ahem…
Before I begin this is a message for Piggy 8832.
I just wanted to let you I am thinking about your suggestions. I wasn't ever planning on writing a reunion of Jay and Nya in Part 2 because I prefer to leave things to canon show but this is a chance to change it up so this chapter is basically a prelude to Part 2 a.k.a the reunion.
However, I'm gonna need some effort from the Lego group or some spoilers just to give me a boost. So pray something happens soon.
Oh and thank you very much for your support :D
And a warning to everyone… yeah a kinda angsty Jaya date… yeah looks like I need to figure how to write fluffy Jaya.
Set after Quest for the Lost Powers
"So where are we going?" Jay asked impatiently, holding Nya's hand.
"Just a minute Sparky, we're almost there." Nya nudged him gently, but Jay still wanted to annoy her.
Nya and Jay were still on their lovely two-person tropical island vacation. Nya mentioned to Jay about going to a secret place on the island for a picnic date and he was out of the door before she could finish her sentence.
"Okay, close your eyes," Nya said, covering his eyes.
"But you're covering them?"
"You know what I mean!"
Nya and Jay walked like that for a little while longer, till Nya stopped, uncovering Jay's eyes.
"Okay, here we are!"
Jay opened his eyes and looked around. It was a beautiful field of roses, dandelions, lilies, and pretty much every flower you could imagine. To top it off it was covered with bushes, rocks, and a crystal-clear stream.
"It's beautiful isn't it." Nya gazed at the field.
"Not as beautiful as you are."
"Aww, your one-liners are also getting better!" Nya smiled.
"Shocking, am I right?" Jay laughed as he gave her a wink.
Nya looked back at the field and had an idea.
"Hey Jay," "Hmm?" "Race you to the other side!"
Nya ran across the field, making sure she didn't drop the picnic basket, she jumped onto a rock and waved to Jay. Jay waved back to her and was about to run after her, but he couldn't move.
He watched Nya, smiling, not a care in the world. At that moment Jay realized that this was the true first moment Jay has been truly happy in over a year.
If we add 1 year of depression, one spy mission, Nya's return, a couple of days of prison, breaking out of prison, running away from the cops, getting trapped in the Brt M12 subway car, getting trapped under rubble, then a full-scale invasion from Crystal/Venegstone Zombies, and finally moping about his birth mother and powers
that's crippling depression at its finest.
Of course, there were some happy moments, scattered in between the very depressing moments. Jay was already expecting something to go wrong.
"Jaaay?" Nya bent down and looked upward at Jay.
"Gah- Nya when did you?" Jay was startled out of his trance.
"Are you feeling, okay? You aren't feeling mopey again, right?" Nya took Jay's hand.
"I'm fine Nya, don't worry." Jay kissed Nya's hand just to be sure.
Nya didn't trust Jay to tell her the truth right away, but he would have to tell her…eventually or he would just blab it himself.
The couple walked across the path, hand in hand to the other side. They sat down under the shade of two trees quietly until Nya spoke up.
"How about I make you a flower crown?"
"A flower crown? You know how to make one?"
"Of course! Every kid from Ignacia knows how to make a flower crown, well except for Kai he was too stubborn."
"Prove it!"
"Watch me!"
Nya was really into making the crown. Jay swore that Nya had super speed. She wasn't kidding when she said she could make these. In a few minutes, Nya had finished with the crown and placed it on top of Jay's head.
"I told you so," Nya hummed.
Jay touched the flower crown and smiled.
"Can you make me one with yellow roses?" Jay asked innocently.
"Nope." Nya pursed her lips.
"What? Why?!" he
"Jay, do you know what yellow roses mean?"
"Ummm." What do yellow flowers mean?
"They stand for friendship, and I think we're way past that."
"Oh, come on, they're just flowers!"
"No yellow roses!"
Jay huffed thinking Nya was acting stubborn for a bunch of flowers but being stubborn was her most notable trait. Aside from her beauty.
"Can we eat now?" Jay asked, trying to lighten the mood.
"Of course!"
Nya took out the sandwiches and also brought some sparkling apple cider because it is liquid gold. Jay noticed a brown box hidden in the back of the basket and tried to reach for it wanting to know what was inside. It smelled sweet.
slap*
"Ow," Jay moaned. "Sorry, but that's for dessert. "I could tell that much."
The two ate mostly in silence, which was unusual for the couple.
"Hey Nya, do you want to hear the story about how I got in trouble for putting a tuna and pickle sandwich on the principal's desk." Jay wasn't sure why he brought up that random a story.
"What?" "Basically, my mom gave me a tuna and pickle sandwich for lunch that I didn't want so…"
Jay continued with his story, however, it felt odd to Nya. It wasn't a date if Jay wasn't complaining about something the other boys did or telling Nya a random story from his childhood like he was doing right now but it still felt different.
To Nya nothing had changed, she was happy to be back with Jay at least when it came to her and Jay's relationship. However, to Jay, it felt like everything had changed, and not in the best way. A whole year of missing Nya, it broke him. He was glad she was back but "What if?" still scares him.
"Since toys always disappear from the principal's desk, why not a tuna and pickle sandwich? I still think I'm right." Jay finished his story and his sandwich.
"That's interesting… perspective" Nya's voice trailed off. She wasn't sure what to say.
"Sooo, can I have dessert now!"
"Hmm, sure."
Nya finished her sandwich and took out the box.
Inside was a small cake covered in white frosting with dots of blue and purple frosting and topped with sugar pearls.
"It's so pretty! I almost don't want to eat it!" Jay licked his lips.
"The chefs did an amazing job! When I heard the hotel's restaurant makes custom cakes, I had to get one!"
"Welp now I'm going to eat it. It may be pretty, but I want cake! Wait, I sound like Cole now." Jay scooted closer and reached for a fork but bumped into Nya's hand. Jay was about to apologize when Nya gripped his hand. "Nya?" Jay looked at Nya and saw she had that look in her eye. A look he would normally be happy to see.
Nya held Jay's shoulder and leaned in closer. Jay froze, looking at Nya. Did he forget how to kiss Nya? That's impossible, right? It had been a while but still. Was it something else?
Jay's mind was overflowing with thought as Nya inched closer. Just as lips were about to meet, Jay noticed a bee flying right towards him and panicked. "BEEE!" Jay yelped, jumping back to dodge the stinger.
Nya also jumped up surprised at Jay's sudden outburst however when she did her hand knocked over the cake.
Jay was still trying to escape the bee's hunger for cake, he didn't look where he was going and tripped on a rock.
"Jay lookout!" Splash!
Jay fell back first into the water. Nya ran over to his side and helped him out. "Maybe that was the wrong time for a kiss?" Nya said, embarrassed.
Nya attempted to use her powers to dry Jay off but seeing as though her powers weren't fully back and instead her powers malfunctioned instead spraying Jay with even more water.
"I'm so sorry Jay!" Nya tried to clean him off with some napkins but that was working as well as you think.
"Nya it's fine. I'll just sit in the sun and dry off the old fashion way!"
Nya and Jay moved to a sunnier location and lay down on the grass.
"I really want that cake now," Jay complained, forgetting that Nya spilled the cake. "I'm sorry," she said miserably. Jay quickly jumped realizing what he said." No no no I didn't mean that I, uh, gah." He sat back down in shame.
The two looked up at the clouds, hands tight in each other's grip. Nya leaned into Jay's side and put her hand on top of Jay's chest. "You're gonna get wet." "Well, then I'll just dry off."
Jay snuggled in closer, putting his hand around Nya, and holding her close, as he drifted off to sleep.

Jay woke up 1 maybe 2 hrs later. He wasn't really sure. What he was sure of was Nya cuddling close to him.
Jay looked around and saw the purplish-red sky creeping in closer. He tried to move but Nya wasn't budging. She looked so peaceful, so Jay painfully decided to wake her up.
"Nya, Nya wake up. It's getting dark." he shook her multiple times. "What luck it's perfect timing," Nya said half awake. "What do you mean?"
Nya sat up and rubbed her eyes. "It means I have another surprise sweetie." Nya winked.
"This is like the third surprise. Are there anymore?" Jay laughed.
"Nope, this is the last one!" Nya held out her hand, guiding Jay to the next location.
Nya and Jay walked up a rocky staircase, finally reaching the top of the short mountain.
At the top of the mountain were white flowers, not even in bloom.
"Is something supposed to happen?" Jay walked around unsure. "Why are you so impatient today?" Nya huffed.
At sunset the flowers began to open up, a sweet scent filling the air, and soon the flowers began to light up one by one.
"There are moonflowers," Nya explained as Jay stared in awe at the flowers. "They only bloom at sunset and at night they glow and produce a sweet scent."
Jay watched as Nya picked two moon flowers. She put one in her hair and put one in Jay's hair.
"They match perfectly don't they," Nya leaned her head against Jay's class and just stayed there.
Normally this would feel like a very romantic moment, but the air felt very tense to Nya.
"Hey Nya, why are you doing this?"
Nya looked up at Jay and saw a serious face, a rare face for Jay.
"What do you mean?" Nya's voice was cracking.
"I mean why did you prepare so much for this date?" Jay's voice was tense and cold.
"Um hello, I wanted it to be special. It's been a year since our last one due to…"
"The sea thing?"
Nya moved out of Jay's grasp and finally spoke.
"Jay please, I want to know what's on your mind. Why have you been distant today?"
Jay faced Nya hoping tears weren't in his eyes.
"Nya, I spent 358 days in that lighthouse, hoping to even get a glimpse of you. Hoping you'd remember our time together and come back."
Nya took a step back, secretly gripping onto her medallion.
"Jay, I know I left you, but you know I still love you,"
"But you still forgot about me," Jay began to tear up. "I understand why you did it but the fear of you leaving me keeps repeating over and over in my head." He took a step forward to get closer to her.
Nya hung her head in shame. What should she say to Jay? Honestly, what could she say?
Jay looked at how conflicted Nya looked and immediately regretted speaking his concerns.
"I'm sorry Nya I just got emotional- "
"Stop apologizing Jay!" She spoke softly but deeply. "I chose to merge with the sea! I decided to abandon you knowing how badly it would hurt you. Now I guess I'm dealing with the consequences of that, but I want you to know that I WiLL stay with you for as long as I can because you are my other half, and I don't want you to suffer again because of my choices."
"Abandon is such a strong word." Jay joked hoping it would lighten the mood.
"Don't ruin the moment, Jay," Nya sighed, recollecting her thoughts.
"I can't promise that I'll never leave you because the universe loves separating us, however, I'm always going to try to find my way back to you," Nya held out her hand to Jay
Jay, still nervous about the future, took Nya's hand. "I promise I'll try to find you too, Nya." he smiled brightly for the first time in a while.
"Now that's my Yang."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The couple walked along the dark path back to the hotel hand in hand, stronger than when they came in.
"Hey, Jay?" "Yes?" "Can you draw a picture of me?" "Why?"
"Because your paintings of me were beautiful!" "Alright." Jay realized something at that moment.
"Hey, Nya?"
"How did you know about the paintings? I never told you about them?"
"Oh, well after I regained my memories I rushed to the lighthouse. That's when I saw the paintings."
"I'm glad you remembered me Nya."
"I am too, Jay, I am too."
Jay just wanted to forget the entire year of suffering he had, and unfortunately his wish came true at the cost of his happy memories with Nya.
~The End~
Authors Notes:
You know I randomly decided to write this because I was working on Red like roses part 3 lyrics than I thought Jay and Nya on a date in a field of flowers.
It took me two weeks to write this because I had writers block, so the Kai and Sora gaming chapter just came out of nowhere. Then I just decided to use a scenario I've had stuck in my head which wasn't meant for Jay and Nya but here we are. I was randomly writing some of this at a Somali wedding party and when my mom dragged me to MCA.
Then school started last week and finally finished it today. Well after this back to happy old dragons rising stuff until that part 2 trailer drops and I start writing a Jaya reunion for part 2 :3. I am not ready.
