Silver hugged Shadow who stroked their quills. "Thank you for understanding."
"Of course, the first time can be intense," Shadow said. Silver blushed but didn't really know how to respond. "But you do make it hard for me," Shadow whispered, "You just look so damn hot, it's hard to keep my hands to myself." Silver blushed madly and looked at Shadow, who placed a soft kiss upon their lips, "But you are worth the wait." He smiled softly and so did Silver shyly.
"Thank you Shadow," Silver said as they took out their phone to check the time, "Shall we get going? I was supposed to be at Tails' almost an hour ago."
They walked to the motorcycle and Shadow sat on it, "Now come on."
"Uhm, can you help me to get on this thing?" Silver asked a little embarrassed.
Shadow suppressed a smile and got up from the bike, he took Silver by their sides and lifted them up onto the motorcycle, just like a father helping their child up to sit somewhere too high. Silver shifted on the seat to get comfortable, 'That's so cute,' Shadow thought and smiled. "Now hold on tight and be good, if you do you'll get a lollypop," Shadow joked.
"Really?" Silver asked excitedly.
Shadow held back his laughter, "I was just joking because you look like a little child right now."
Silver frowned and folded their arms. "You shouldn't joke about that!"
"What, about you being a child?"
"No, saying you'll give me candy, when you're not going to," Silver said grumpy.
Shadow rolled his eyes and sat in front of Silver. "Just hold tight."
He started the engine, "To what?" Silver asked looking for something to hold on too. But Shadow didn't hear them over the roaring engine.
Shadow drove off and Silver almost fell, they quickly wrapped their arms around Shadow's waist as they couldn't find something else to hang on to.
"AAAAAAAH SHADOW!" Silver screamed as they were moving really fast and the motorcycle tilted from left to right while taking the corners. "SLOWDOWN! SLOWDOWN!" They shouted.
Shadow stopped the motorcycle in front of Tails' house. "So, here we are," He said. Silver didn't move and only held Shadow tight while shivering with their eyes shut. "You can let go now." He said.
Silver loosened their grip and got down off the bike with quivering knees, "I-I'm NEVER g-getting on that thing ever a-again!" Silver said while looking pale and shocked.
"Ow come on, it isn't that scary. You just need to get used to it," Shadow helped Silver to straighten up. "Come on let's go."
They walked to the front door and Silver rang the bell. Mrs Prower opened. "Hey Silver! We were already wondering when you would turn up, and you must be Shadow," She said with a kind smile and held out her hand for Shadow to shake it. "Silver has told me so much about you."
Silver blushed as Shadow looked over at them with a grin. "It's nice to meet you Mrs Prower," Shadow said. "I hope you don't mind me coming over as well?"
"Oh not at all, a friend of Silver's is a friend of ours," She opened the door further to let them in. She looked at Silver, "That looks good on you," She commented about their clothes as this was also her first time to see them wear girl clothes.
Silver's cheeks turned a shade of pink and smiled, "Thank you."
She winked and turned to Shadow, "Shadow would you also like to stay for dinner?"
"I don't want to intrude," Shadow said.
"It's nothing," She said, Shadow smiled and nodded. "Well Silver you know where to find Tails," She said.
Silver went outside and Shadow followed them. "Tails' mother is really supportive to you," Shadow commented.
"Both of Tails' parents are, they are really nice."
"Are you parents like that as well?" Shadow asked curious as he wanted to learn more about Silver's situation.
"They don't know," Silver responded with an emotionless expression. They entered the barn and Amadeus and Tails looked stressed. "Hey! Sorry I'm late," Silver apologised. "Is something wrong?"
Amadeus and Tails were working on the airplane which looked almost finished. "Something's wrong with the engine, it just doesn't seem to want to start."
Shadow walked over and looked under the hood. "May I?" Shadow asked Tails. Tails handed him the wrench. "I think I see what the problem is," He uncoupled the drive. "Did you use a new drive or recycled one?" Shadow asked Mr Prower.
Mr Prower looked confused, "Recycled," He replied.
Shadow took some metal parts and curved them a little by force. "This drive isn't really compatible with the engine you're using, but maybe this will work." Shadow placed it back and tightened the bolts. "Do you have some oil maybe?" he asked. Tails' passed the oil and Shadow carefully filled the oil levels and stood back. "How about now?"
Tails went in the cockpit and started the engine which started to roar. Tails smiled "Thanks Shadow!"
"That's impressive," Mr Prower said and held out a hand to Shadow, "I'm Amadeus," he said.
"Shadow," He replied.
"I figured," Mr Prower said and winked towards Silver. "Where did you learn to do that?" he asked while pointing at the plane.
"I'm a mechanic, normally I only work on cars and motorcycles but most engines work in the same way," He replied.
"Well thank you, that really helped. I have a deadline tomorrow to take the prototype for a test flight, so I really started to stress out when it didn't want to start. You really saved me!"
Shadow smiled proudly.
"Do you even have time for your research?" Silver asked Tails.
"Yeah we are done now, right dad?"
"Yes, just let me clean up, I will come and help you later," Mr Prower said.
Tails took some measuring equipment and the three of them went to the living room. Tails had already prepared some things, there were some different instruments, headphones, a vinyl player, a lot of records and sheet music.
"So what do you want me to do?" Silver asked.
"First I need to apply these electrode stickers which will measure your brainwaves. I want you to first listen to a song and then play it afterwards. I think that will be a good start. Do you mind if I record everything?"
Silver shook their head, "Do your thing," Silver said as Tails went over to apply the stickers, Silver looked over at Shadow as it must be weird to have those wired stickers on their head. Shadow sat on the couch while watching their little experiment. They silently smiled at each other. Tails started the recording. Silver put on the headphones and closed their eyes to listen to the music. Shadow just looked at Silver who seemed very concentrated, he smiled as he thought it just looked really cute.
Tails looked at their measurement equipment while taking notes. Shadow smiled as Silver was slightly moving to the music. Silver removed the headphones when the song was finished.
"Did you know this song already?" Tails asked.
"No I didn't," Silver answered.
Tails wrote it down. "Can you try and play it for me?" Tails asked. Silver nodded, went over to the piano and took their place and did as Tails asked.
"Lake Shore Drive?" Shadow asked guessing the song, Tails nodded but kept his eyes on the equipment a little confused.
Silver ended the piece and looked over at Tails, "Something wrong?" They asked when seeing Tails' expression.
"No no, that was great," Tails said a bit absent while writing some things down. "Let's just try something else, maybe the violin?" Tails asked. Silver took the violin and started to play the last part of the song. "Well that wasn't really what I meant, but that means you focus on multiple instruments at once when you listened to the song?"
"Probably, I don't know I just listen," Silver said and Tails took some other notes.
"Could you listen to the next song?"
Silver nodded and took the headphones again.
"So do you know this piece of music?" Tails asked when they removed the headphones again.
"Well it sounded familiar, was it from Bach?" Silver asked, Tails nodded. "Do you want me to play the first or second violin?" Silver asked.
"Second," Tails said a little surprised as he didn't even know their were two violin pieces. Silver played it flawlessly.
"Were you thinking about the first violin when you were playing the second one?" Tails asked when Silver was finished.
"Yeah I think so, how did you know?"
"Your brainwaves didn't match your movements, that's interesting."
Mr Prower came into the room, "How is it all going here?" He asked.
"Dad, could you maybe come and look, I don't really understand what's happening," Mr Prower came over and looked at Tails' notes and measurements a little confused.
"Are you sure the equipment is rightly installed?" He asked Tails.
"Yeah I think so, let's just try a new song then you can look at it with me," They nodded. Silver looked concerned over at Shadow as they didn't know what was going on. Shadow shrugged at Silver as he didn't know either. Silver put the headphones on again.
"This can't be right," Mr Prower said while he looked at the equipment. Silver just focused on the music and couldn't hear them.
Shadow came over to them to have a look. "What's wrong?"
"Well I don't know really, we should really try this experiment on someone else as well," Tails said a little confused.
"Could I help?" Shadow asked.
"Ow yeah that would be great, Silver is listening to a song for the guitar now, maybe you can try it after them," Shadow nodded.
Silver took the guitar and played the song. "I know this one," Shadow said with a smile.
Mr Prower took Tails' notes and wrote some things down himself while looking at the data.
"Thank you Silver, we really want to try this on Shadow now. So we can compare the data," Tails turned off the equipment and went over to Silver to remove the stickers.
"Does it matter I already know this song?" Shadow asked.
"Not for now, I just want to see what happens when you play it," Silver and Shadow switched places and Tails' applied the stickers. Shadow took the guitar and Tails' turned on the equipment again.
Shadow took hold of the guitar and was about to start, but suddenly everything went completely dark.
"What just happened?" Shadow asked.
"Malfunction," Mr Prower said concerned.
"What are you guys doing in there?" Mrs Prower asked moving towards the living room in the dark.
"Just a little experiment honey," Mr Prower answered.
"I just wanted to come over to say dinner is ready, but all of a sudden all the lights went out," She replied.
"I'll go flip the switch of the fuse box," Mr Prower stood up and Shadow went with him.
"That was weird, huh?" Silver said to Tails who was disconnecting all the equipment. "Did you get all the information you needed?"
"Well I would really like to do this again, but I also need to find some other people as test subjects for a control group so I can compare the results."
Shadow and Mr Prower stood outside to flip the switch. Shadow lit his zippo lighter so Mr Prower could see what he was doing. "Is everything alright with Silver?" Shadow asked.
"Y-yeah of course," Mr Prower answered uneasy.
"Are you sure?" Shadow asked.
"Well we really should collect more data before jumping to conclusions."
Shadow wasn't fully convinced by the words of Mr Prower, 'but if it was something to be concerned about they would say it right?' Shadow thought. Amadeus flicked the switched, all the lights inside turned on again. They went inside again.
