Sink or swim (READ TAGS/TRIGGERS FIRST, PG18)

The following chapter is HEAVY so read then you are up for it and take care of your mental health!

Tags& Triggers:

police violence, bloody fighting scene, sexual assault

If one of those topics are general triggering for you, don't read below.

For all who are unsure there is a small checklist of what you can expect if you scroll down.

All who have no problem with those topics may already skip down to read without spoilers.

Please take care of your mental health and only read if you are truly up for it. As always with such chapters you can leave them out there are enough references later without (hopefully) triggering content. I always make sure you can understand the story even if you leave these chapters out.

So again, don't read below if you don't want to read those topics at all and skip to The Drop to tipped the scale.

It's NOT gore, it's not worse than Desertia, at least I think so.

Sexual assault includes: unwanted kissing and once someone sliding his hand along the leg. Nothing "happens" it gets stopped, everything is written only as implied and isn't written out. I do NOT write rape and never will. But depending on how sensitive or how much you might have experienced yourself this can trigger you. So PLEASE, take this warning seriously.

Quiet steps echoed through the small street. A breath gasping. She had turned corners so often but couldn't shake her tail. An undefined sound like someone stumbled and got surprised by his own foolishness.

'Stupid ass,' Alyssa turned around a shiver down her spine. There was no one. "H-He-hello?" She flared up her dark magic. 'Someone was just there I know it…' She couldn't make anything out behind her.

Blade flew through the cold air, it was so relaxing after the fighting to stretch her wings. 'Need to put my meditation spots closer to the bar… but then again… they'll figure out that I am using my meditation as cover sooner or later… ahhh.' A shadow behind her rushed towards the clouds. Abruptly she stopped gazing at the clouds, "Show yourself!"

Yet only the breeze of the night air blew around her nose.

A stone clanged into the street from the side alley up ahead. Alyssa tensed up. "I warn you, I'm in no mood to play, fi you don't want to get hurt…"

"… you better come out now before I drag you into the open!" Blade warned one last time. She was close to her spot but not there yet. 'Shit.' Her hand reached towards her bracelet.

Silence. Alyssa forced her plants through the paved ground and surrounded herself with vines. It was quite too quiet.

Blade tapped the emergency button, this was beyond weird. There weren't a lot of people able to fly freely not to mention at this late hour.

"Yes, Red Fountain here, what's the problem?" A student asked. "Your stats seem fine…wait you are in the air!? But your coordinates…"

"Shhh, shut it, someone's following me," Blade scanned the clouds. "Dark Reaver. Whisper of creation…" she summoned her glaive weapon and snatched it out of the air. "I warned you!"

"Take that! Willow's grasp!" Alyssa send forth her vines as she finally could make a humanoid shadow out from around the corner. "You asked for it!" Her vines shot around the corner.

'There!' Blade amassed magic and sent a sickle into the clouds.

"Burning hands!" A male voice echoed out. The vines set ablaze and fire rushed towards Alyssa who quickly jumped into the air and evaded.

"Remedy!" a young female voice shouted out and a purple glowing sphere lit up in the clouds.

Blade could hear the shield spell shatter, and dashed upwards, "You won't escape me!"

"Iron bark!" Alyssa shielded herself, yet nothing else followed up.

Instead, a Council Guard stepped out into the open. His dark blond hair waved in the wind, "You know that is property damage if you tore open the street…" He crossed his arms.

"Council Guard? And what's it to you? You simply could have said so that you were around the corner. Stupid prick," Alyssa growled.

The guard shook his head, "Go home, kid, this is no time to run around in these parts of the city." He pressed his hands on the ground, "Stone terrain…" He fixed up the street.

"Asshole…do that again and you won't get away unscathed next time!" She hissed and dashed away.

'Unscathed? She couldn't even land a hit…kids…' The Council Guard turned around to the drunk guy at the wall in the side alley, "And you Mister… have earned a day in the brick." He pulled the drunk head up. 'Shit… I was supposed to cover the other one… but that guy had his eyes on her friend all night long. How did he even get such a talisman to hide from people… those black-market items… such trouble… gotta hurry. Iolas will have my head if I lose that redhead…'

Blade sent another sickle into the clouds, she wasn't at her full strength after two hours of fighting. So, she used the sickles sparsely.

"Gesh, stop!" Misery appeared out of nowhere a bit to the left of where the sickle had gone astray. "Are you trying to cut my head off?!"

"Misery?!" Blade stopped, "What the heck do you want? Creeping around like that! Are you nuts? I could have killed you."

"Pff, you wish, not with that shitty aim," Misery snorted. Her green dress and red fabric straps danced in the wind.

"Are you alright?" The student asked confused, "Do you need backup or not?"

"Depends…" Blade glared at the Sorceress from her class. 'Is this about Tasu again? But she isn't even here.' She sighed, "Did Griffin send you?"

"You're fine… little glow worm," Misery approached her. "I was just leaving anyways…"

"Yeah, you better…" Blade had not managed to get a read on that girl at all. She wasn't particularly mean nor nice. She was somewhat pushy, always lingering in corners and having an eye on Blade, but every time Blade confronted her she simply left and pretended nothing was going on. The one thing that was sure though was that she was interested in Tasu somehow. It was the reason why Blade avoided trading favours with her. And always added that she would not reveal anything about Tasu to all her other deals in Cloud Tower after the last hick-up with Gilliana.

"So, no backup?" The student asked again.

"Yeah, recall the backup… sorry for the mess…" Blade apologised.

"All good, we are here to serve and protect," The Specialist hang up.

"Eques Iolas?"

"Yes… what's up? Everything okay with the Sorceress?" Iolas asked the Novicius he had sent after Blade.

"Yes, she finished her missions ages ago and went into one of those bars to fight and earn some money. She just meditated for a bit and is heading towards Alfea, should I still follow her? It's not the right school… but it is clearly her path," The fresh Council Guard asked still irritated. They had nearly reached the City outskirts.

"No, that's fine. Anything noteworthy about her stay in the fight bar?" Iolas asked reluctantly.

"She had a friend with her, they got followed by some drunk head. He had one of those black-market talismans to hide a presence. Not a good grade but enough for tired students. I took care of him." He reported as he watched the Witch fly off.

"Anything else?"

"Eh… she's slower covering her left flank? Should I have seen something? Well, she used the image of that Ashfallow Fairy from the hearing, but you said not to interfere so I guess you already knew that? Should I arrest her?" The guard was a bit confused.

"No, no, all good, job well done. See you in Headquarters," Iolas hang up.

Blade shook her head as she landed on a building a few minutes later, "Fuck forgot to remove the mini-computer…" Quickly she got rid of it and with a snap of her fingers she recalled the tiny gadget and it vanished. "That Misery… I nearly send a squad on her ass. I don't get her at all…" She gazed over the skyline, it was not as impressive as in the centre but still high with lots of storage facilities and special gravity train routes to move the goods. "Magix City is nothing compared to Zenith, but they do have a decent amount of tech." She spotted some flickering lights to her far right, "What is that?" Suddenly an explosion and smoke rose and what seemed like hundreds of blue lights flashed up all around that area. "Holy electron! That fire will spread to the other buildings the wind will blow it to the residence area." She darted towards the side.

She hadn't even reached it when she heard gunfire in the streets. "Gotta hurry!" A scream of pain and rage hollowed through the industrial area. She could see the reflection of the blue energy bolts against the walls.

And a man scrambled around the corner running as if his life depended on it shooting behind him with a gun without aiming whatsoever. The sirens were loud in the background and other shouting mixed in with it.

'Is that the arsonist?!' Blade reached out with her hand, "Shattering spear!" She raced towards the guy. "He's escaping they are too slow! If he gets to the train station…"

"Fucking cunts," the gangster laughed maniacally as he crossed the wide-open street, as out of nowhere he was blasted backwards. "What the heck!?" A dark glowing spear was stuck in the ground right before him and a redhead gripped it by the shaft again, "HEY! YOU FUCKIGN BITCH! PISS OFF! I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR YOU!" He jumped to his feet and wanted to pass her by.

Blade pushed him back again, "You're going nowhere."

"Oh yeah?!" He raised his sidearm to shoot at her. He already could hear the footsteps of the rushing Police Officers and panicked.

Blade swiped with her spear to the side and the gun was sliced open, "Idiot, a simple gun can't match up with my magic." Blade stomped her spear down as she saw two Officers rush towards her.

In shock, the gangster looked at the young Witch in front of him as out of the blue a shot got fired at them both.

Blade ducked away quickly and blocked another with her spear, "Hey what's the deal!? I caught him for you!" She watched as the guy took his chance to pass her by and she pulled him back, "You stay," She warned him firmly.

"Drop the weapon!" The Officers shouted at her.

"Alright, alright…calm down, I'm on your side," Blade threw the spear to the side.

"You…" The older one glared at the gangster as he closed in.

"On the Ground," The younger one ordered, he seemed a bit irritated by the redhead.

Blade slowly raised her hands, 'Great, so much for getting home in time for the dome…' And took a knee without a warning that older Police Officer shot again, but not at her but at the gangster, the gangster wasn't following orders at all. "Magic dart!"

The Gangster went pale as he could only watch the energy bolt and dart clash and explode in front of him. He turned white as a ghost, "They going to kill us! Do something you stupid WITCH!"

"Just do as they say! Are you crazy? They are Officers they don't kill people they already hav-" Blade protested yet another shot got fired at the guy, which she blocked again with another dart, "Are you nuts?!" She wasn't sure what the hell was going on. 'Are those even Officers?!'

"Leave us…" The older Officer trembled in anger as he marched towards them. The younger one was directly behind him his weapon aimed at Blade.

Blade knew that look, the glare of a killer, blood lust, her heart pounded, "You got him, there's no need for further violence!" She wanted to reach for her bracelet but the younger one was so on edge that he shot, but it went astray. 'Stay calm breath.' Instinctively she used her breathing techniques to keep herself from panicking as well.

"Keep your hands in the air!" The younger officer was shaking as if this was the first time he had to use the damn gun or maybe it was just the adrenaline from the chase.

The older Officer stepped towards the gangster his gun at the ready. "You son of a bitch. YOU KILLED HIM! He has family! Two daughters, you, asshole!" He pulled him up pressing the gun against his temple.

"What ya gonna do, Officer? The Witch is right, ya know? You already got me in custody shoot me now, it's murder," he agitated the Officer, even more, he felt oh so smart.

"Leave, you have seen nothing," The old man didn't even look at Blade.

"But Sir?" The younger one was so torn unsure what to do. "What you are proposing is an execution…"

"Only if a witness comes forward…" The older one growled. "Or are you okay with that fleabag getting away but your friend's in the ground?" He turned to look at his co-worker

In the blink of an eye, the gangster drew a knife, "DIE!" But the knife got shot out of his hand and the phanto-blade splintered.

Blade only now realised what was going on, that Officer was not a good shot he was a great shot, which meant the only reason that guy had escaped so far away from the main scene was because he let him. 'He's going to kill that… he did kill an officer, what? Wait… but he can't if he executes that he'll be in prison for life… that won't bring his friend back, it will destroy him!' Blade above all people knew how consuming those thoughts of revenge could get. She had struggled so much with it. Letting go was not a thing one could just do on a whim. With Shanna, she had talked for endless hours about Philopa and her feelings about her state and end. And while she had admitted to herself that she would have loved to slit her throat open despite the fact that she also wanted to gain justice in court. Only now with time and honesty, she had found acceptance that Philopa was out of reach and if she ever recovered would face justice. A justice that wouldn't destroy Blade herself, but might never feel good enough. But nothing could dispute the fact that nothing could bring Jewels back to life, not Philopa's death, not the death of other traitors. That kind of revenge simply wasn't worth losing all she had, family, friends, school, and herself. Jewels would want her to move on and have a better life and that was what she had decided to focus on. Yet that decision still tasted bittersweet on some days.

"Start running, you stupid waste of air," The old Officer bared his teeth and pushed the gangster away from him and shot at the ground, eyes so cold, "RUN, you son of a…"

The gangster stayed put, "HA, ahahahaha! Thank you, WITCH! I'll live because of you. It's all because of you! AHAHAHA" That guy lost it slightly. He seemed to be a bit high or something.

"Oh, you little!" The old Officer pulled the trigger.

Blade infused magic into her whole body, "No, don't!" She pressed the gun down. The shot left another scorch mark on the ground between the guy's legs. 'FUCK.' She stared into raging eyes. She gulped. 'Was that what Avalon and Palladium always saw when I went crazy!?' It scared the shit out of her and yet invoked sadness and pity.

"POLICE! LET GO OF THE OFFICER!" More police Officers had caught up.

"It's not worth losing all you have…I know it hurts…" Blade whispered to the Officer as she let go of his gun and stepped away as she raised her hands again. She would not fight them. She had done nothing wrong and it would clear up once she would get interviewed.

"You know nothing of pain, WITCH," He growled deeply and took her hand and slapped green Jade-enhanced cuffs on her. Blade lost her Shadion immediately, but her charm morph held up. "Take her, we don't have enough space for two in the station." He pushed the redhead towards the other Officers rushing in to take both of them into custody.

"No. I'm sorry, you did well capturing those two. But we have to shuffle, we don't have space for so many magic users they need to be split up before their friends come to break them all out at once. Plus, you already have other gang members in your cellblock, can't have them fight. So, no, you can't take him," The leading Officer of the raid declined as he stepped out of his gravity car, "Take the Witch."

"YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS!" the Younger guy complained. He still didn't seem to know what he wanted but certainly not that. He was close to tears.

"Oh, I am serious," The raid leader stepped up to them, "All the other stations in the area already have their magic users to take care of this raid. No single anti-magic cell is left anywhere, but yours. You know the protocol. She's to be treated, a second-level prisoner. We can't leave them out in the open, get a move on."

"He's not my client," Blade protested straight away but instantly several weapons were aimed at her besides the fact that she could do next to nothing. Maybe a third year could bust the cuffs with a massive burst of magic and destroy the small amounts of Green Jade but even if she could that would take way too long. "I just came to-"

"TO SAVE ME, ahahaha, you saved me thank you darling as always. What a Fairy you are, I always told you, you missed your calling! HA! See you in prison dear… Fuck you all, suckers!" The gangster got pulled away by several Officers as he kept insulting them, "Oh and greet your friend at the graveyard for me! Tell him he should have asked for shooting lessons!" He simply wanted to create more chaos and rile them up. If they were to lash out now, it would help him in Court.

The older Officer without blinking traced how his target slipped from his grasp. He stayed cool to the outside but was boiling inside Blade could tell it was like a mirror of her past self.

"Get him out of here. What's wrong with you? Get a grip. Hey, Curtis, are you listening?" The raid leader addressed the Officer again. "You hold her till the Council or Red Fountain takes her off your hands, is that clear? I'll send word to them straight away once everything is sorted on my end, we have more than one magic user in this damned gang, be careful on the way back...who knows how many more will try to bust them out," He looked at him. "Let's move it, people, where are the Wizards? We need to get that fire under control. Search for the others, one group headed north. You, escort them to the station." The Raid leader ordered his men around, "Be careful" and stepped away.

"Yes, we'll be. Single-cell, you call the authorities…" Curtis turned to Blade, "Move." He took her by the arm and shoulder so hard that her first reflex was to pull away.

Yet everyone was so jumpy at the moment and weapons raised again immediately. 'Shit… their night must have been horror…. That ass of a… fuck… okay calm down, don't agitate them. Just follow suit. Red Fountain or Council is good. I can clear things up with them… they'll listen.' Blade breathed in deeply.

Misery trembled in fear, "No, no, no, no," She had hidden behind a ventilation system. "What do I do!?" She had witnessed it all and nothing of this boded well. 'I should just bust her out… I could use my sleep gas spell… no, no, no, never will work in time, too many, they'll shoot me out of the sky…' She hammered against her head, 'Just go there and tell them…' She shook her head, 'They'll never believe if I tell them Blade tried to stop an execution…but if he takes her… she's Tasu's friend, ally, can't just leave her behind… I… I….' She was in shock, never in her life had she seen an Officer act like that. Yes, Officers were aggressive at times but, this, this was a whole other story. She didn't even dare to move just yet with so many on the ground and hyper-vigilant, they would spot her casting, some definitely had at least a bit of magic training. She pulled out her phone under the cover of her dress.

Misery followed the police car from up above, her heart was pounding. The young Witches had set this chat room up across all years since the Desertia incident. Normally, it was a favour for a favour. But the Police were the one group they all had trouble with and with the tensions being high more arrests had occurred. To avoid endless hours being stuck in a prison cell for no reason and to keep possible injuries to a minimum they had created one massive group chat. Anyone could write if they had seen someone in trouble, where, what happened and the colour stated how bad it looked or could become in the alerter's eyes. Some Witches had boyfriends from Red Fountain after all; those created make-shift teams and waltzed in pretending to be on official orders and busted the Witches out and if necessary brought them to the infirmary. It had worked wonders and Griffin had told them plenty of times to watch out for themselves. Since they used their Specialists the Officers had not the authority to refuse the boys if they used fake warrants or answered the call to take them off their hands because space got thin in the cells. After all magical threats were Council's business and there for the school's responsibility as well.

Misery stopped she was panting; the car had reached its station. 'Where is the damn street name?!' She could only watch as the two police officers more or less dragged Blade inside although she didn't even resist. Someone even zapped her with a stun gun out of nowhere and so Blade got dragged inside like a wet sack.

Misery nearly dropped her phone so many messages got in and it buzzed so much. She sank down on another roof. 'Blade, stay safe…please…Tasu can't lose you…' She started to cry.

"You there, freeze!" An officer called out. She had been spotted.

"Remedy!" Misery didn't wait for a second and jumped into the air and dashed away as the shots hit her shield. 'Blade… hold out we're coming for you…' She bit her lip as she vanished into the clouds, there was nothing more she could do.

"Quick, call the Wizards! Guards, she's escaping!"

Blade got dragged through the reception hall and past the desk spaces and the stun was subsiding slowly. The station was in utter chaos from the raid it seemed and understaffed at the moment. 'A lot must have gone wrong if they were faced with several magic users that's not their responsibility. Probably most are still at the site.' This wasn't ideal but struggling wouldn't help her case so she stayed as unthreatening as possible despite their aggressions so far. The other Officers were called outside to help out with something. Curtis shoved her down some stairs to the holding cells in the cellar. The moment they stepped over the threshold Blade felt her sense of magic blink out. She couldn't feel her own magic at all, not even the faint presence of her bracelet, plus it shut down. Just for a millisecond, she had felt something hot right where her charm was between the collar bones as the runes of the walls lid up responding to her presence. She tensed up this was an awkward feeling much like the cancel spell but this was permanent.

"Hey, Rob, can you make the papers ready? Council will retrieve her quickly surely after that huge explosion, they probably are already helping to catch the other escapees. We can't make them wait once they arrive." The older Police Officer addressed the younger one with a calm voice.

"Right, right… papers… I'll get them done… form 693 no, no, 639…" The poor guy was still in a daze. None of them had said anything the whole way over, just grinding teeth and raging anger inside.

"It's 936, I think…" Curtis mumbled glancing at Blade.

Rob looked to his superior, "But…" He wasn't cool with leaving his partner with a Witch.

"Don't worry she's in cuffs, she can't use her magic here. Council probably is already on the way to take her off our hands, remember? We need to get the paperwork ready. I'll be fine," He said in a serene voice.

'He already calmed down that much?' Blade was somewhat impressed. That guy wanted to shoot a guy just a couple of minutes ago after all.

"Alright, shout if…" Rob stared at the redhead once more and left for the stairs and Officer Curtis moved Blade along.

Blade sagged into the arms of the officer, when Rob let go, Curtis simply dragged her half along the floor and halted at a huge door, full of runes and red and green Jade, 'Gesh, he's still pissed…though…' Blade noticed the camera in the hallway right at the stairs, before they vanished into the cell.

The Officer stepped inside with her and halted, "…" He stared at Blade as his face turned dark.

Blade finally found her footing again, "I just came to help. I saw the explosion and-" Her breath stopped. That guy had hit her in the throat and with her hands bound to her back there had been no time to block the sucker punch. Blade stumbled backwards and hit the floor gasping for air. In reflex, she tried to reach for her magic and runes lit up just like in the Council Headquarters and magic zapped from the cell walls all around towards her.

Curtis smirked the lightning was drawn to his gloves which had some sort of rune inscribed that protected him from the magic countermeasures. He could stand here all day as long as he was wearing those. "Hey! STOP RESISTING!" He shouted loudly and made the weirdest struggling noises as he glared down at Blade. He even jumped halfway backwards and skidded over the floor just to rush into the cell again.

'Fuck, I panicked and he's faking!?' Blade shook off the zapping that subsided as she stopped reaching for her magic. 'Ouch. Nothing against, Tessa's if she goes all out.' She jumped to her feet but couldn't break the cuffs. She was about to tackle him when she noticed his smirking. She stopped right before him. 'He's not going to lure me into a fight. That's what he wants, breathe, calm yourself, be smart,' Blade bared her teeth at him. "…" but her throat was still sore.

"Last warning!" the Officer shouted once more and drew his gun and shot at the wall behind her.

Blade's heart stopped for a second in disbelief she looked behind herself in shock she had thought he would kill her, 'What's wrong with him?!...crap! ...'

The Officer put her into a chokehold, "That guy deserved to die…" He whispered into her ear as he dragged her out of the cell, opened the one right next to them and squeezed through with her.

"Oh?" Six guys were all spread out in the small cell with two block benches on the long sides and inspected their new guests. They had all some sort of clan or gang tattoo.

"Found the Witch that killed your guy," Curtis pushed the redhead right into their midst. "Behave, Council will be here in a couple of minutes…" He spoke quietly as he turned around and sneaked out of the door and it fell shut.

Blade coughed as she finally could get some air again. She looked up, surrounded.

"You must have pissed him off…" what seemed to be the boss grinned.

"I... I didn't ki-ll your guy," Blade instantly stated, her throat still a bit sore.

The boss smirked, "Do you think I'm dumb? I already know who it was. Officers always think they are smart, but they are not. You're just fine," He stepped towards her.

Blade still felt like a sheep surrounded by wolfs. The guy meant his words, but the tension was still in the air. Blade took a step backwards, 'Gotta get them all in front of me and lined up…fuck…No, no fighting is the best fighting. There is no way I can win this, not with the cuffs. Shit,' She smiled back, "Well, then I'll just wait for my pick-up…" She still couldn't get out of those stupid cuffs, she had no idea how. Her back hit the wall.

The boss leaned his hand against the wall and looked down at her amused, "Why so scared, Red? Aren't we all friends here?"

Two to the left, one at the back, one to her right and one shadow behind the boss. Blade could feel the guy's breath on her face, "Sure…" Blade stared back into his eyes. 'He's playing me…fuck…stupid cuffs!' Her heart was pumping.

"Great, then we agree," he placed his elbow on her chest to pin her to the wall and came even closer whispering into her ear. "Now let's spend our time wisely till your taxi arrives."

'Shit, he's - I can't fight like this!' Blade tensed up as the guy smashed their lips together. Blade squeaked muffled, turning her head away. 'Fucking asshole, I'll-shit…Stay calm,' Blade glared at him. Those guys were too strong to fight cuffed and she had no magic to enhance her own strength here otherwise, 'Couple of minutes…it's just kissing. Grrrrr…' Blade bared her teeth. Her instincts told her to fight yet the outcome was uncertain. She still tried to get rid of the cuffs but there was no real point in trying.

The guy grinned amusedly as Blade glared at him. "Uhhh, you're feisty, but you know your place, heh, sucks to have no magic, doesn't it?" He breathed into her face and pressed her harder against the wall. "You Witches shouldn't piss people off." He snatched her chin with his free hand and pressed his mouth on hers just to grin at her again.

Blade was trembling in anger, 'I'll- breathe…won't be long…just gotta hold out.' She wanted to smash his face in so badly. It took all her will to stay composed since there was nowhere to run.

"Uuuh, I know that look, don't tell me, first kiss?" The Boss eyed her amused. "Top goods, ey." His gang chuckled, eying her like hungry wolves themselves.

"Give her the full bang for her buck, boss," the shadow, standing right behind him, joked.

"Hmm, what do ya say, Witch, should I ENCHANT you," the Boss let go of her chin and reached out to her high-waist skirt to tug at the laces.

"HELP!" Blade used her chance and screamed as loud as she could. She pulled away to the side after she had rammed her head against his teeth. 'I rather die!' No way in Magix she would let that happen. "Fuck off!"

"Oh, so, feisty! Where do you think you can run to, though? Give a man a good time. I won't see pretty girls like you for quite some time. You got to understand I need to quench some needs," The guy laughed as he reached out to grab her again and licked away some blood from his lips. He was so sure of himself and wasn't threatened by her one bit, "Come here, swe-" His breath faded as he fell to his knees, "Yo…u….Wit..ch…" Blade had nailed him right between the legs.

"BOSS!"

'Fuck,' Blade pivoted on her heel, hammered her shin into the boss's head. His sycophants only watched frozen as their leader's temple met the wall with a wet crack. A trail of red was left behind as he slumped to the floor. "HELP!" She screamed again.

"YOU BITCH!" A purple-haired guy charged at her.

Quickly, she faced her next enemy. 'FUCK!' Her heart raced.

"YOOOUUUU!" Purple Hair swung wide at her, while the Shadow checked the boss's condition.

Blade ducked under the punch and put as much force into her jump as possible.

Blade smacked her head into Purple Hair and the guy crashed into the one behind him.

The guy on the right, with the ugly mug, rammed his foot into her side.

Blade crashed into the wall as the bunch stormed in to beat her into a pulp. She bolted towards the bench but had to roll off it to escape a punch from Purple Hair who consequently smashed his fist into the stone where her head should have been. He cursed. "HELP!" Blade screamed at the top of her lungs again as she scrambled past one with a scar on his face and along the bench. 'No one's coming?! Why is no one coming?!'

The guy in the back, built like a bear, moved to tackle her, but Blade straight out jumped into him, he toppled, and they both fell to the ground. He hit his head hard and went limp.

"YOU BITCH!"

Blade tried to get up but was too slow. She gasped as Ugly Mug kicked her off Bear and then tried to jump her, but Blade held off his attack aiming for his knee. He stumbled backwards.

Blade catapulted herself onto her feet and rushed towards the other bench.

"You won't escape us!" One screamed from behind as they rushed after her.

Blade kicked off the bench into a flip and pulled her legs in; just barely she managed to slip her cuffed hands under her legs and got them upfront. Yet a fist rammed into her head before she could raise her hands and she crashed to the floor. The world spun around her sickeningly.

Her attacker pulled her up from the ground and smashed her into the wall burying his fist in her stomach.

Blade vomited as Ugly Mug grabbed her hair and yanked her head up. Her vision blurred. Swiftly she raised her hands and braised for another impact.

The guy hit the hard cuffs instead of the soft flesh. He howled in pain.

The cuffs hit her nose from the impact. Blade locked her cuffed hands behind his head and slammed them into her knee.

Ugly Mug crumpled and Blade toppled onto him, unable to release him with the cuffs hindering her.

A foot rammed into her side with an ugly crack and booted her off the body. She tore her hands free as Scar Face leaned over Ugly Mug, ready to stomp on her. He dug his foot into her stomach with his full weight behind it. Blade convulsed and retched. Quickly she turned her head so she wouldn't choke on it. Blinded by rage, Purple Hair seized her leg and dragged her towards himself. Blade clawed into Scar Face's trousers and pulled his leg with her. He lost his balance as his other foot got caught on Ugly Mug's body. The momentum carried him forward. He tried to catch himself but slipped and his head smashed against the edge of the bench block.

Purple Hair lost it, her leg in a tight grip he closed in to stomp her senseless. Blade kicked panicked after him as she watched Shadow, shouting angrily, rush in from the far corner. Blade gazed back to Purple Hair but where he had stood he was no more. Irritated Blade spotted him down on the ground holding his groin with all she got she hammered her feet against his head several times until he tipped over and collapsed next to Bear.

Shadow raced towards his comrades too late. He jumped over Scar Face's legs and slipped on the vomit the space was simply too small he caught himself above Blade, who tried to hit him in the head with the cuffs. Shadow caught her arms and pressed them down again. He was way stronger than her. With his sharpened teeth he grinned at her, "You messed with the wrong crowd…Witch."

Blade felt his grip tighten around her neck. She struggled to get her hands free to no avail. She tried to get onto her feet, but Shadow swung around his leg and straddled her. Blade squeezed her chin down to hinder the choke as much as possible. She couldn't free her hands but she could shift them. Blade readied her legs placing them down on the ground. She pulled the cuffed hands to the side and got an angle to bite into his arm.

Shadow flinched his choke on her weakened just for a second. At that moment Blade pressed her hip upwards with all her strength and flung him over her head. Quickly he scrambled to get hold of her again. They landed a series of punches and scratches at each over. Blade clawed into his face terrified to lose now. He bit into her hand to get her nails out of his face.

Blade couldn't care less about the blood that was drawn. In a split-second, she saw her opening with a straightened-out hand she jabbed into his jugular notch. Shadow lost his breath, coughed and turned in pain. Blade scrambled to get on top of him and hammered her tided fists down again and again with all she had left.

Officer Curtis walked down the stairs. He had ignored the first scream for help, he couldn't bother less. Yet with the last scream, he had to go check because Rob got a bit worried that something actually was wrong with the Witch in the single-holding cell. It was silent besides some muffled grunts and moans he unlocked the door just to find a blood bath. The Gangsters were all knocked out all across the room and the Witch was on top of her last victim. "What the fuck… STOP!" He shouted and drew his gun. Yet the Witch simply hammered down on the guy beneath her without any sense or reason. The guy already was out cold, bloodied face. Curtis shot to stun her. Yet she pressed on raising her cuffed hands yet again for another punch. "I said stop! TO THE WALL!" He shot again.

Blade felt something hit her back and her muscles gave way. Yet all she was concerned about was that that asshole stayed down on the ground.

"I SAID STOPP!" Curtis in disbelief that she was still up rushed inside and point-blank shot at her back again. He looked around, 'FUCK! Just how?!…if someone finds out….' He raised his gun and shot three more times at the walls.

Blade toppled over as her muscles went limp right on top of Shadow. Disoriented she tried to move yet nothing responded. 'The Boss? Did he get up?' She breathed irregularly, sweat dripping down her body, and her other senses came back to her.

Curtis turned around, entered the corridor and whistled, calmly he opened the door wide again of the single cell. He shouted worried yet also composed for his long-time force buddies and anyone else upstairs to hear "Gary! Russell! Clayton!" He stepped inside the single cell and waited shortly. "You Witch, the least you could do, is help!" He rushed back to the blood bath and grabbed the Witch by the hair full of sweat, blood and vomit. It was all sticky and yucky, but that wasn't his problem right now, he couldn't care less. Curtis dragged the bitch as close to the door frame as possible around the corner into the single cell.

A stinging pain from her head, shoulder plates and all over her body, every breath hurt she could feel warm streams run down her skin, but was also sweating cold, she face-forward hit the ground. Blade had a hard time staying awake, but she had to get up, she had to defend herself. Yet nothing responded.

Curtis kneeled down right next to her he had spotted the bite wound. Hurriedly he took out some first aid balsam and applied it, those were great for minor wounds after all. He already could see it vanishing. "What the heck even happened? ..." he mumbled to himself as he looked up as his buddies arrived.

Blade heard footsteps in the hallway, someone was coming. Confused over the two opened cell doors those people came to a hold. "How, what?" They shouted to each other, Blade could hear them talk even if they kept their voices down afterwards.

Pale they looked into the group cell and then noticed Curtis standing next to the redhead, that had aided that gangster who killed their buddy, in the other cell. "I get the first aid…fuck…" Gary rushed upstairs again. They all were tense but those old hands knew how to save their asses.

"Her handiwork…" Curtis ground his teeth, "Just wanted them to fuck her up a bit, stupid bitch, shit…" he cursed quietly as he pushed the cell door close and shook his head still in disbelief.

"Well, if you want her to be fucked up, fuck her, now's your chance," Russell joked.

"I can help you later," Clayton laughed and placed a hand on Curtis to calm him down and they turned to deal with the bloodbath.

Blade panicked she wanted to scream, shout, run, anything but she couldn't. Still stunned she layed there on the cold floor as the door fell shut behind her. 'They wouldn't!? Come on respond, respond, RESPOND!' She begged her body to move do anything. She choked as some vomit got half stuck in her throat, the taste of copper in between. The soupy contents splatted right on the floor and into her face still more was stuck inside her throat. 'MOVE! DAMN IT!' She lost it. There was no point to it at all, but Blade tried to amass magic, she had to break the stun, she would drown in her own vomit otherwise. The runes lit up in the cell, they recognised that she tried to draw from her magic, which wasn't accessible here. A zap of light magic lightning hit her. But she only panicked more as someone bumped against the door outside.

"Shut it!" an angry voice could be heard from outside. "Don't make me come in…"

Blade tried even harder, 'No, stay away, stay AWAY!' More lightning zapped sparking over the floor. The runes tried to stop her from permanently damaging her magic system. Somehow from the uncontrolled jerking under the security measures her head fell to the side. Her airways cleared up a bit more. 'Someone, anyone! Get me out! Let me out!' She teared up, the smell of burned circuits in her nose. All strength she had regained fled her body.

She had no idea how much time really passed, it felt like days, she whimpered under the pain she couldn't escape. Without warning the door flung open. Rob came stomping in shouting, "WHAT ARE YOU?! REFUSING TO HELP HEAL OTHERS! WANTING TO HELP, MY ASS-" The door slammed shut again behind him. "…" He stared at the redhead and stumbled backwards. That was not the scene he had expected. "By the Great Dragon…" He rushed towards her, he fumbled around, he was so shocked as he tried to pull something out of his back-belt pocket. He turned her over, he was white as a ghost. Wide-eyed they stared at each other terrified. He pulled her chin down, nearly dropped the potion he finally managed to get out of his pocket and chucked it down her throat. "…What… how….?"

"ROB!" a Police Officer stomped in, "Are you nuts?! Get out of here!" He pulled his colleague away and pushed him out of the door and slammed it shut again between them.

Blade's heart raced, that was one of those guys Curtis had called.

He glared down at her, "Do you even know what mess you made, you stupid bitch?" He stepped closer raised his boot and hammered down.

Crack. Blade felt another shot of pain rush through her system, His eyes full of hate. 'Shit, no, that's the guy who…' But Blade still was stunned, Curtis had got her good with his gunshots.

The Officer just shook his head, "William's a fool, rotten to the core, that's the only thing you are." He spat in her face before he turned her over with his boot. He kneeled down and whispered into her ear, "Police and Witches don't mix. Stay the fuck out of our business. The only thing you're useful for is a good fuck." His tone of voice had shifted slightly from rage to disgust.

A shiver went down Blade's spine, his hand slid along her leg upwards, 'NO, STAY AWAY!' Her breath cut off, her eyes filled with tears.

"Ah, the sensation is just not the same…" the guy mumbled annoyed. And not a second later he chucked his gloves to the ground, one of them landing right in front of her nose.

'My Chance! NOT WITH ME, YOU, ASSHOLE!' Blade tried to amass all her magic. The walls lit up to suppress her magic again and the lightning zapped over the floor.

"Fucking, ouch!" The Officer got thrown off his feet, without the gloves there was nothing protecting him from the security runes. "Stop, yo-" he growled in pain as he clawed along the floor trying to reach his gloves. "Bitc-" his voice cut off under the zapping.

But Blade wouldn't let up, 'PISS OFF!' She ground her teeth this burned like fire, but it hurt him more. He truly had a hard time reaching his gloves, almost fear in his eyes.

"Clayton! Stop trying to convince the Witch, she won't help. Get your ass out here and help!" A grumpy voice could be heard from outside, "You need to help with the first aid… come on," another pounding on the door.

Finally, Clayton grabbed his gloves and put them on. The lightning got drawn to them and got cancelled. He sat there breathing heavily drooling. Out of breath, short of vomiting himself. His muscles twitched from the aftershocks. He glared at her, "Oh… you…"

"Clayton!"

Blade stopped trying to amass magic and the lightning subsided. She couldn't grin but inwardly grinned satisfied.

"CLAYTON!"

"Tch, bitch," Clayton had such a hard time standing up and staying up. "YES! I'm coming!" He shakenly made his way out.

Blade grimaced her breath was short, her sight blacking out again. This had cost her everything, but it had worked. 'Got to stay a...w…ake…' She heard the door fall shut, she was alone in the cell again. 'I have to…'
