Walking Dead: Building Your Own Hope

Chapter 16 of my Walking Dead story, enjoy.

Reviews

Boris Yeltsin: Yeah, he certainly pushed things too far.
Parent12D: Thanks dude, glad you enjoyed it; as for that, it's somewhat the case since remember Rick explained things to the chief, regardless it has caused things to catapult off for Shane true and well, it's not like he went around advertising it ;) Yeah, the breather part is nice and it helps make things calm down, Glenn, Maggie and Enid are certainly not sure what could have happened regarding the break in, but remember, Shane was meant to be investigating that. Yes indeed, he's certainly not happy with Carl and him being himself and that is sure to cause problems for Shane if it comes out to the police. Anyway, thanks, glad you enjoyed all this :)
Wolfgirl2013: Thanks :)

Now onto the story.

Season 2: Episode 16

Marissa smiled lightly as she brushed back her blonde hair with her hands, she could hardly wait for Andrew to arrive. They had decided, after things had finally calmed down and now that Marissa felt comfortable again following that horrible incident with the perverted coach, to have a date and had arranged to meet up at the location she was currently at. She didn't have any worries about Andrew not being here yet, she was actually early so she was waiting for her boyfriend to arrive.

'Boyfriend, I still can't believe that...that I'm actually dating something and we are actually happy together.' She thought happily.

She knew that unlike other boys, Andrew wouldn't care if she didn't dress up fancy, she wore something nice regardless. A pair of plain blue jeans, a white flowy T-shirt with a floral and butterfly pattern and dark blue flats.

"Well, look here, hello beautiful."

She sighed and rolled her eyes, turning to glare sharply at Spencer Monroe who stood there, giving a cocky smirk and leaning against the wall that she was sitting next to.

"What do you want?" She asked tersely.

Spencer just grinned. "Oh come, no need for such animosity. You know why I'm here, so nice to see you all dressed up and-"

"It's not for you." Marissa cut him off. "Now go away and leave me alone, my boyfriend will be here soon and we'll be having a date."

Spencer laughed and shook his head.

Marissa remained tense, getting to her feet but Spencer spoke before she could.

"Oh please, stop pretending that pathetic little boy is a real boyfriend, you need-"

Marissa had enough however. "Need what, a real man, well that's clearly not you. A pathetic little boy who thinks he is entitled to any girl he wants just because. You need to get a life, I'm not interested and nobody will ever care about you that way if you keep acting like this!"

"You...you…" Spencer gasped.

"I have a boyfriend and he is ten times the man you'll ever be, now fuck off and don't ever come anywhere near me again, or I'll show you just what I'm capable of in self-defence." She snapped.

It was almost comical how cowed Spencer looked as he turned and hurried away. It was then Marissa saw Andrew standing nearby, amused, and she blushed.

"Oh, Andy, I um…"

"That was quite possibly the coolest thing I've ever seen." He said. "You sent him off like a whipped dog."

Marissa sighed and shook her head. "Sorry about that."

Andrew shook his head. "Don't apologise."

Marissa smiled and looked up at him, he'd dressed up reasonably nice too in his own jeans, a dark blue collared shirt and brand new white sneakers, he'd tied his hair back into a ponytail.

"Hey, you look good."

Andrew smiled at that, blushing too. "Thanks, so do you...So um, ready to go?"

She nodded and they linked hands as they began their date.

Some time later, they both walked to the restaurant, laughing and enjoying themselves. They'd spent a wonderful day together, both taking turns taking the other to their favourite place. Andrew took Marissa to the book store and got to enjoy the sight of her eyes sparkling as she perused the various titles, looking for anything that caught her eye. When they'd finished there, with Andrew buying the books for her, Marissa returned the favour. She took Andrew to a music store that sold older music, namely music that appealed to Andrew's tastes. She had purchased the ones that caught his eye, namely The Beatles' White Album, Led Zeppelin IV and Black Sabbath's Paranoid. With all that and them simply talking and sharing their interests together, they had got into the restaurant and were on their way to their table when they saw someone familiar.

"Brian?" Andrew queried.

Brian looked up and smiled. "Ah, hi. I'm waiting for Beth, she'll be here soon."

"Oh, you took her out to dinner?" Marissa asked.

"Yeah, I just…" He paused and then shrugged. "She's been dealing with a lot of things, especially with her family. I just wanted to do this for her, give her something nice, so she can just relax and have a good time."

"That's lovely dude." Marissa agreed. "Oh, she's here."

They all nodded and Andrew and Marissa headed for their table while Beth approached Brian at his table. It was a wonderful time and finally, after so long, things were looking up for them all, especially for Andrew and Marissa having this lovely date.

Sitting at his kitchen table, scowling at the remains of his dinner after eating, Shane continued to stew in his anger and bitterness. He couldn't believe how things weren't working out the way they should be.

'This can't be...this isn't right. Lori was supposed to, Rick was…' His mind raced as his anger spiked. 'Urg, this has to change, Lori has to see the truth somehow. About us, about how Rick isn't good for her, how Carl needs to be fixed before everyone sees how pathetically unmanly he is.'

He swore then, no matter what, he would make sure Lori saw the truth somehow.
