Chapter 28:

Scott:

"Why are you fighting it? Why do you refuse to see how right we are for each other? You're mine Lydia, no one else's." I heard his voice and whimpering that had to belong to Lydia. I pushed myself faster.

"No, I'm not." she choked out.

"Yes, you are. You just can't see past Scott. Why can't you see he is all wrong for you? I guess I'm just going to have to show you." He growled.

I could see a clearing and see him holding her by the throat, a gun pointed at her head. I burst through to the clearing with a growl, he turned the gun on me. I stopped a few feet away from them. He had blood smeared under his nose and a manic look in his eyes. Lydia's eyes were wide as she looked at me her eyes darting to the gun, and I knew she was thinking about the vision she had.

"of course, it's you. Always the savior huh, Scott. Can't let anyone else have a turn saving her." Greenberg said.

"You don't know how badly I want to rip you to shreds right now. Let her go." I growled feeling my control waning.

"Scott, don't." Lydia gasped, shaking her head. Her eyes pleading with me to not lose myself.

"She belongs with me Scott, not you. Not someone that would stab his best friend in the back and take his dream girl away from him."

I heard footsteps behind me. I didn't need to turn to look to find out who it was. "And here's your sidekick, now. Can't have one without the other." He turned the gun on Stiles, and I moved to stand in front of him.

"Tell me Stiles, how did it feel to have your best friend take away the one thing you wanted. To have your heart crushed. You of all people should understand where I'm coming from. We are in the same boat. He took her away from the both of us."

"No, he didn't. she was never mine to begin with and she's not yours either."

"She never saw you either. I know you love her too. Almost as much as I do. It was always him."

"No, that's not true. Stiles you know that's not true."

"Like hell it isn't. She was probably only friends with you to get closer to him."

"Stiles don't listen to him. You know I care about you. You're one of my best friends. He wants to get into your head and make you just as crazy as he is. Turn you against your best friend."

"Shut up." He snapped at her.

"He's jealous and obsessed and you are nothing like him. You don't feel that way anymore, remember. Don't let him get to you. You are not him."

"I said shut up." He snarled squeezing his hand tighter.

"ENOUGH!" I roared. "Let. Her. Go. Or I swear to God, I will end you."

From the left a bit closer to them then I liked, came Liam and the gun switched to him. I twitched in his direction but was torn. I needed to get Lydia away, but I couldn't leave Stiles exposed and I couldn't let Liam get hurt.

"Another sidekick. Is the whole gang here? Should I expect them to come out soon to play as well? I tell you what, Scott." He said, moving Lydia in front of him, keeping her close by the waist and pointing the gun back at me.

"While we wait, why don't we play a game. what do you say Lydia?" He said kissing the side of her head, her eyes closed tears leaking, and I growled. He looked at me and smirked.

"Since you like to play superman so much and save people, let's see if your faster than a speeding bullet. And since you're already protecting Stiles I guess I'll go for the little one, hmmm." He said swinging the gun back at Liam, who stared wide eyed.

"No one is dying here tonight and you're not taking Lydia." I told him, taking a measured step closer.

"Oh, you think you can stop me. I mean you do seem to have this uncanny ability to get out of jams, so I guess it's possible. Let's make it more interesting then." He said, again swinging the gun back at me and pulling the trigger. Searing pain ripped into me.

"Scott." Three voices called as I held my hand over my stomach, feeling the blood under my fingers. I heard Stiles move but stopped him.

"Stiles stay back."

"Hmmm, I thought that would put you down better than that. The woman I got these bullets from said they were specially made. She seemed to think that they would incapacitate you." He said. I felt it almost instantly.

"Wolfsbane." I whispered, falling to my knees metallic taste filling my mouth.

"That's better. Now that this game has gotten more interesting, back to you little one. Sorry kid." He said.

"Scott." Lydia cried. Using my hand as leverage I stood back up. I could feel the wolfsbane coursing through me and knew I didn't have much time to do something. Lydia shook her head as if she knew what I was about to do. I did it anyway.

Growling, my eyes switched to red. Greenberg looked panicked, focusing on me.

"What the hell are you?" He asked taking another shot as I charged forward two more steps.

My shoulder burned. A few more steps. Another shot. My arm. One more. I was feeling the effects now. He clicked the trigger repeatedly, but nothing happened. He was out of bullets. I grabbed his hand twisting it, forcing him to drop it. I pulled Lydia away from him and then used the last of my strength to toss him a few feet away into a giant tree. He slammed into it with a grunt then hit the ground and so did I.

"Scott." Lydia screamed and dove for me. more footsteps followed as the wolfsbane burned through me.

"Lydia, you have to get away. Take…S-s-ti…" My vision was going fuzzy, and my lungs were starting to protest the air I breathed in.

"Sshh… it's okay. I'm safe." She said gripping my hand.

"I'm s-s-so-rry, I sh-." I tried to say choking.

"Don't talk. We're going to get you help, okay? Just stay with me. Just keep your eyes on me." her fingers carted through my hair.

Faces appeared in front of me, Liam, Stiles, Derek. I heard the sound of a fist hitting flesh and a grunt. My head lazily turned to see Braeden hovering over a down Greenberg her double barrel shotgun pointed directly at him. I reached for Stiles trying to pull him closer.

"Need to…get her out-."

"Save your strength Scott. Well get you both out of here." He said.

"Scott. No."

I heard Allison scream. Running and there she was with Isaac. I could hear more footsteps coming but I was losing consciousness.

My eyes went back to Lydia. She was here and she was safe and that's all that mattered. Resting my head back on the ground I let my eyes close.

"Scott, oh God, Scott."

Lydia:

"Scott, look at me. please open your eyes." I gripped his face, needing him to look at me. but he didn't. "Scott, please."

Argent showed up pulling a bag from around his neck and moved to Scotts side.

"Wolfsbane in the bullets, not sure what kind." Derek said to him. Argent nodded pulling out a syringe and a vial full of green liquid.

"Lydia, he's still alive. But I have to stop the spread of it in his system." He said. "Stiles get Lydia away."

"No." I protested shaking my head and holding on to Scott's hand.

"Lydia, I need to give him this serum. It's going to be painful, and I need help holding him down. Give us room to work."

I nodded and let Stiles pull me away. I gripped his shirt as I watched.

"Okay, Liam, Isaac, Derek, hold him down." He said as he filled the syringe as much as he could.

The guys took positions around him and held tight. Argent stuck the needle into the wound on his shoulder and plunged as much of the serum as he could into him then pulled it out. I watched and waited.

"It's not working." I shrieked trying to pull away from Stiles, he held tight keeping me from going to him.

"Give it a second." Stiles whispered.

Scotts, eyes popped open, and he screamed bloody murder fighting against the hands holding him. Suddenly his eyes went from brown to red and he roared. Peter came out of nowhere saw what was happening and came to help, gripping Scott's shoulders to keep him down. I couldn't watch, I turned into Stiles and squeezed my eyes shut. I couldn't shut out the sounds of his growling and screaming in pain. Sobs broke through the longer he screamed, and Stiles tried to reassure me.

Finally, the screams died out and I turned back just in time to see him puke up yellow and black goo before he fell back silent to the ground. I pushed away from Stiles and fell to his side.

"Stiles." Came from a distance. The sheriff came through with Parrish right behind him. Both with guns drawn. Stilinski looked around and sagged in relief when he found his son. Putting his gun away he took a survey of what was happening. Allison and Braeden were each holding weapons pointed at Greenberg who was still on the ground. Isaac, Liam, Derek, Peter, Argent, and I crowded around Scott. Stiles ran over to his dad, gave him a quick hug then explained what was happening. The sheriff jogged over to us.

"We have to move people. We are wasting time Scott does not have. The serum only staves off the effects for a while. Those bullets need to come out."

"Do it, take them out." I told him.

"We can't here. If those bullets had wolfsbane in them then it is still being released into his system. But taking them out now may cause him to bleed out. The serum I used is only combatting the wolfsbane, it won't last. We have to get him back to town and to the hospital." Argent explained.

"Liam, Isaac, Peter, sheriff we lift on three. Stiles, try and keep his head elevated. Keep him as steady as possible. Derek, you got Lydia?" Argent asked.

"Yeah. I got her." he said lifting me up.

"Greenberg." The sheriff said.

"I got him sheriff.' Parrish said, taking out his cuffs. "Up." He demanded, yanking him roughly from the ground slapping the cuffs on him and by the hiss he let out they were tight. He read him his rights as he marched him out of the clearing, Allison and Braeden following both weapons still drawn. I don't think they cared that he was in cuffs.

"1,2,3." Argent said and they all lifted at once.

"I hope he dies." Greenberg snarled and was shoved forward a few steps.

"You better hope he doesn't. you won't like what happens to you if he does." Braeden told.

"She should be with me." he whined.

"Shut up." Allison snapped.

I kept my eyes on him, watching as the guys were careful not to shake him too much as they walked across the uneven ground. Greenberg grumbled more and Braeden and Allison took great pleasure in threatening his life. Parrish may have temporarily gone deaf since he said nothing, or maybe he was just remembering that Greenberg had knocked him out.

The trees started to thin out and I saw the lights of the house come into view. I heard the door bang open and then Melissa was there.

"Oh my God, Scott. Scott." She screamed running towards us, Malia and Mason following.

"Melissa, we have to get him to the hospital. We need to hurry. Put the seat down in the back of my SUV." He instructed, and though I could see her fight the urge to stay be her son's side she did as he said.

Malia found Stiles and she looked relieved but saw what he was doing, so she didn't run to him. Instead, she caught up with Parrish, Braeden, and Allison. Greenberg was still spewing threats and desires for Scott's death.

"Is this him?" she asked. When they nodded, she reared back and punched him square in the nose, knocking him out. Then she promptly picked him up and threw him over her shoulder marching toward the cars. Braeden and Allison looked at her and then each other but followed after her. Parrish had stopped, mouth dropped open.

"Liam call your dad and tell him to prep a room." Argent said as they got Scott loaded in the back. Liam pulled out his phone and dialed.

"Put me down." I told Derek. He did near the car and Allison rushed to me, hugging me tight.

Allison turned to me. "Are you alright?"

I nodded and then shook my head. I was still shaking and with Scott hurt I couldn't think, couldn't focus.

"Come on, let's get you to Scott. You just need to hold his hand and let him know you are there."

I nodded and she helped me climb in next to Scott. Melissa got in the front passenger seat.

"I don't understand what just happened?" Parrish said holding the door open for Malia to dump Greenberg in the back.

"Explanation later, right now we have to get units out here." The sheriff said.

"I think I will ride with the deputy. I don't trust this guy." Braeden said climbing in the back of the cruiser next to Greenberg, weapon still in hand.

I wrapped an arm around his chest careful not to touch his wounds that were only weeping slightly now.

"Lydia…need to…" Scott murmured.

"Shh…I'm right here. We're going to get you help. Just hang on." I said kissing his forehead.

"Love you."

"I love you." I cried.
