Chapter 2 is finished everyone, and I enjoyed writing it. Sorry it took so long to write it, but I do have my other ShadowSpider stories to work on. I'm still in the process of writing chapter 6 of my Evolution story. Looks like that may be another multiparter, unless you guys don't mind really long chapters. How's reading a 50,000 word chapter sound to ya guys? Haha. I'm also in the midst of writing the next chapter of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and Ultimate. So, bear with me.

Quick question: Are Peter and Kitty equally into each other? Like, does Kitty seem more into Peter than he is into her? Or, does it look like Peter is into Kitty for than she is into him? Be sure to let me know, so I can make it to where they are into each other equally in later chapters.

Anyway, be sure to review, till then enjoy the chapter.

Chapter 2: Origin of Spider-Man

New York City, Peter's Apartment, Sunday, January 25, 2020, 5:50 pm

Peter was in his room getting ready for his date with Kitty, well he was trying to get ready anyway, if it weren't for a blonde-haired annoyance, and no, this time it is not Fred. No, the annoyance this time is his hotheaded friend Johnny Storm, "Johnny, Johnny, listen to me, I am not interested," Peter said through his phone.

4th Yancy Street, home of the fantastic four

"Come on Peter, it's one date, she's hot, and she's a redhead," Johnny said

Peter's Apartment

"What does her being a redhead have to do with anything," Peter asked

"Well, I always thought one of the reasons that you gave MJ so many chances was because of her red hair," Johnny said

"I have dated other woman that didn't have red hair Johnny," Peter said

"True, but how many have you dated more than once. Pete, you need to get laid," Johnny said

"Goodbye Johnny," Peter said, he then hung up the phone. Placing his phone away, Peter looked through his clothes again, and decided to go with a white button-up shirt and khaki pants. He then got his laptop and brought it to the table. Peter placed the laptop on the table and then got the dinner that he made for himself, which was mac and cheese. Checking the time, Peter sees that it is 6:00, with that, he makes the videocall. The rings a few times, but there is no answer, "Heh, I wonder what's going on?"

At the ocean, Marauder, 6:25 pm

It is raining where the Marauder is, but that isn't the reason why Kitty was late, the Marauder was built to handle the toughest of storms, or at least that is what Emma says. No, the reason why Kitty wasn't in her room wearing a nice dress on a videochat date with her handsome boyfriend is because right now her ship is being invaded by Russians. Russia of all countries is invading her ship; she still can't believe it. Maybe this is some type of karma for leaving Piotr at the altar.

A Russian soldier is shooting at Kitty, but she phases through every bullet and charges the soldier, she then elbows the soldier in the cheek, and kicks him in the face knocking him to the ground. Another soldier then runs to Kitty and tries to bash her head with his gun, but she ducks, Kitty then punches him in the solar plexus causing the soldier an incredible amount of pain, making him bend over which Kitty uses to knee him in the nose knocking him out as well. She then charges three guys, two that have swords, and one a gun, "Swords, you're using swords against me. I should sue you for using my motif," Kitty said as she drew her own blade.

The one with the gun tried to shoot at Kitty, but using the slick surface, the captain of the Marauder slides low on the ground dodging the bullets. Kitty slid her way toward the three soldiers. Once she was there, Kitty gets up, she quickly disarms the one with the gun, jabs him with the handle of her sword, Kitty then sees a flash of silver coming at her and immediately phases. She watches as the sword meant for her instead slashes the man who had the gun face making him scream in pain as he held his bleeding face. Kitty grimaced at the blood, "Wow," Kitty said, she then looked at the man who tried to slash her, "That's on you," she said

The man then looked at Kitty in anger, "YOU BITCH," he yelled at he tried to slash her again, but Kitty brought her blade up, and in one fell swoop, disarmed him, and took his sword for herself.

"No, a bitch is someone attacking my ship when I was getting ready for my date. That is a bitch, me I'm just tict," Kitty said as she used her sword to slash the man's chest making him scream in pain. The other swordsman went to behead Kitty, but she blocked with her new blade, "Hey, I need this face for tonight. Leave one mark on my face and you will see my bad side." Kitty then smashes her elbow on the man's arm breaking a bone, making the man scream as he drops his blade. Kitty then turned around and kicked the other man on the chest sending him to the ground.

Iceman then slides on by, "Hey isn't your date with Peter at six," Iceman asked

"Yeah, why," Kitty asked

"It's 6:30," Bobby asked

"WHAT," Kitty exclaimed, 6:30, she is so late, oh someone is paying now. Unfortunately, the man whose arm Kitty broke tried to punch her, but Kitty was prepared, she caught the punch, "MAKE ME LATE FOR MY DATE," she said as she kneed the man in the solar plexus, she then grabs the man and walks him to the edge of her ship, "Well guess what? You can swim with the sharks!" Kitty then threw the man overboard her ship. Kitty then turned toward Bobby, "We have to end this I need to get ready."

"We're nearly done, ten more minutes," Bobby said getting a sigh from Kitty.

Bobby made the right estimate because ten minutes later, all the soldiers were defeated, either knocked out or in the sea swimming to the nearest shore which is very far.

"Finally, we got that finished," Pyro said as he threw a knocked-out soldier to the ground.

"They really took us by surprise," Bishop said

"Yeah, they did," Ororo said distractedly

"Something wrong Storm," Bobby asked

"All we're trying to do is build lives for ourselves, and yet every time we do that someone always has to step in and try to ruin it. They can't just leave us alone and let us live," Storm said

"I know what you mean Storm. What do you think Kate," Bishop asked only to not get a response, he then looked and saw that Kitty wasn't there. "Kate?"

Pyro, and Storm looked around as well, "Ah, where'd she go," Pyro asked

No one saw it but Bobby was smirking, he knew where Kate was.

In the Marauder

Kitty had just exited the bathroom having taken the quickest shower that she has taken, she made a quick stop to the kitchen and made herself a sandwich, she then ran to her room all the while repeating the same word, "Crap, crap, crap, crap, crap…"

Kitty finally made it to her room, dried herself off, put on her blue dress, brushed her hair. She then got her laptop and saw that Peter was calling her. Sitting on her bed with her sandwich placed in front of her, Kitty did a quick fix of her hair. Once that was done, she answered the call, and the picture of Peter Parker appeared.

"Hey Kitty," Peter greeted

"Hey sweety, I am so, so, so sorry it took me so long," Kitty apologized

New York

"Don't worry about it, it's funny, normally I'm the one keeping people waiting. It's weird to be on the other side of things," Peter said

"Yeah, well I have an excellent excuse on why I am so late," Kitty said

"What's that," Peter asked curiously

"My ship got attacked by Russian soldiers," Kitty answered

"Really," Peter asked getting a nob from Kitty, "Heh, irony. I used that right, didn't I?"

Kitty chuckled, "You have an IQ of 250 and yet you still don't understand irony," she said, she always thought that was funny.

"I really do not," Peter said smiling making Kitty smile too, "So, tell me about what happened."

Kitty smiled at Peter, and his interest in her work, she then started to explain what happened.

Saturday, January 31, 2020

It has been over four weeks since Peter and Kitty had gone on their second date, and so far, everything seems to be going good between them. They seem to always talk to one another and never run out of anything to talk about, which is amazing, Peter has never met a woman that he could have such conversations with. When Peter is with Kitty, everything seems to go by so fast. Whenever it feels like they were just talking for 10 minutes it has actually been an hour. He's had a lot of fun with her, and so far, they have gone on eight dates. Half were in-person dates while the other half were video-calls which wasn't so bad. Peter really doesn't mind how they have those dates, as long as he can spend time with Kitty. This week they are going on their nineth date and Peter is looking forward to it. Kitty truly is an amazing person, she's beautiful, kind, caring, has a great sense of humor, she laughs at his jokes. She's also independent, incredibly smart, seriously she has kept up with him on everything science that he's talked about, he has to say her smarts truly are one of her most attractive features. Oh, she's also a total badass.

Peter Parker was in his room going over the clothes that he currently owns. He's taking Kitty out to lunch, after that, it's really just winging it from there. Peter was able to settle with a green collared shirt and jeans. Putting the clothes on, Peter looked at the clock and saw that it was 11:00 am. One hour till he has to meet Kitty, he should probably go so he isn't late. Peter then exits his room and leaves his apartment to meet Kitty.

Krakoa, Red Keep

Kitty is looking through her clothes trying to find what to wear for her date with Peter. They aren't going anywhere formal, so she doesn't have to dress up, but she does want to make sure she is wearing something cute. Gotta keep his eyes on her after all. It's amazing that she is doing this, Kitty never thought that she would be doing this again, fretting about what to wear for a date. Kitty smiled as she thought about her date. It has been over four weeks since she and Peter's second date, and since then they've talked on the phone almost every day and had eight other dates. All that ended well, she'd like to say. Kitty touched her lips as she remembered that on their second date, she actually kissed Peter. That kiss made her realize that the word amazing describes him in more ways than one. Kitty has to say that after eight dates going on nine, she likes Peter a lot. Peter, he's smart, incredibly so, when he said he was a genius he wasn't just saying so. He's also kind, caring, really funny, seriously the guy just keeps making her laugh. He also has this sense of responsibility, he always has to help people even as Peter Parker, not to mention the fact is that he's very handsome. Kitty can't help but smile and giggle a little, she remembers when he called her Kitty by accident, he apologized for it. The thing is that when Peter called her Kitty, she didn't mind it, she actually liked it, and when he went back to calling her Kate, she didn't like that. It's weird, after he called her Kitty, Kate just started sounding so impersonal to her, and she doesn't want that, she likes Peter a lot, so she wants things to be more personal between them, so she told him to call her Kitty. She may be falling for him, she's not sure yet. There is something there, she knows that much.

Kitty continues to go through her wardrobe, she's happy that she was able to bring her clothes from Xavier's over to Krakoa, Kitty's not sure how Peter would take Krakoa fashion. Kitty finally settles on a red blouse and black jeans; she puts on the clothes and looks in the mirror. As she looks herself in the mirror Kitty has to say that she looks good, let's just hope Peter agrees. Kitty looks at the clock and it's 11:00 am, she should probably get going, thankfully no one is currently at the Red Keep. That is good for a few reasons, reason one she and Peter are keeping their relationship to themselves for now. They'll tell eventually, but right now they like how things are, and they don't want to change that. The second reason is because Bobby has been trying to interfere in their relationship, and both really wish that he'd back off. Don't get her wrong, both she and Peter feel grateful to Bobby for bringing them together, but he doesn't have to do whatever it takes to keep them together or bring romance to their relationship. She and Peter want to be the ones to be in charge of how far and how fast their relationship goes.

Peter is a gentleman and is considerate of her and her boundaries and she is the same way. Both know that romance is blossoming but despite that, there are boundaries that they both have that they simply aren't going to let down after a month of dating. Kitty wishes that Bobby could see that. He obviously holds concern for them both and they are appreciative, but he needs to back off them and let them figure things out themselves.

Kitty puts on her shoes, walks out of her room, and exits the Red Keep heading down to the Central Park Krakoan gate. She isn't going there to go through the gate, she can't do that yet, which sucks because if she could she'd visit Peter more. No, she is going to the gate to meet Illyana so she can drop her off, Illyana is the only friend of her's other than Bobby that knows about her relationship. Illyana has promised to keep the relationship a secret, most likely because she doesn't think this relationship will last. She wasn't particularly supportive when she discovered Kitty was going on a date, she was even less thrilled when Kitty informed her that she was going on a second date with Peter. Kitty can't be angry with Illyana though, she understands, Illyana has been through a lot of shit that messed her up. Asking her to trust Peter when she didn't even know him was unrealistic. Kitty is sure that with time that Illyana will like Peter, his charm will win her over.

It took Kitty twenty minutes to get to her destination, when she finally got to the gate, she saw Illyana there waiting for her. "Yana," Kitty yelled getting her friend's attention.

"Katya," Illyana said as Kitty approached her and the two hugged.

"How has your morning been so far," Kitty said

"Nothing interesting has happened, I'm so bored," Illyana said getting a laugh from Kitty.

"It's funny for once I'm glad that nothing is going on. Just gives me an excuse to see Peter," Kitty comments making Illyana roll her eyes. She can tell that Kitty likes this guy, but Illyana doesn't think it will last, Kitty knows nothing about this person. How can she be sure to trust him? The guy isn't even a mutant, how is he supposed to help Kitty if he doesn't know what she goes through. A human could never understand the trouble that mutants go through. Not to mention Kitty should be focusing more on herself and getting better, than having to worry about a relationship. But it seemed that Kitty really liked this guy and is trying to pursue something with him. It won't really matter, because Illyana thinks that it won't last long, she gives the relationship two months tops until Kitty comes to her senses and breaks up with the guy. "I really want to thank you Yana for doing this. I know this may be an inconvenience for you, but I am thankful."

"You're never an inconvenience Katya. So, don't even mention it, I am always happy to help you," Illyana reassured

Kitty nodded, "Thanks," she thanked, "Anyway we should go, I don't want to be late."

"Katya, it's 11:25, you have a good 35 minutes till you need to be there. Do you really want to be standing next to the gate for 35 minutes waiting," Illyana said

"Hm, good point, we can leave in 20-25 minutes, I don't mind waiting 10 minutes," Kitty said

"If that's what you want," Illyana said, with that the two start to talk.

New York City

Peter was walking down the sidewalk heading to Central Park to meet up with his girlfriend, 'Girlfriend, sounds good,' he thought as he thought about Kitty. He can't wait to see her again to talk to her. Sure, he talked to her last night. Heck he's talked to her about four times a week for four weeks. Sometimes he calls her, and other times she calls him. Peter can't explain it, it's so easy talking to Kitty, the conversations they've gotten into. It amazes him, he's never connected with someone to this point to where he just wants to hear her voice. He isn't entirely sure, but he thinks that he may be falling for Kitty. How couldn't he, she makes it so easy to fall for her.

Peter was trying to figure out what he and Kitty should do after lunch, maybe they can go to the park, relax, and talk. Maybe she'd wanna go to his place and hangout, he's not sure that's a good idea. He'd like to keep Fred away from her. He's not worried about her or anything, frankly he would be more worried for Fred than anything. He says one wrong thing and he'll be black and blue all over. Peter smirked, now that he thinks about it, that would be funny to watch. But he'd rather not have Kitty go through the annoyance that is Boomerang.

Central Park Krakoan Gate twenty-five minutes later

Kitty appears in front of the Central Park Krakoan gate via Illyana's teleporting discs, as she takes a look around Kitty sees that Peter isn't there yet. She is proven wrong when she hears a voice behind her, "Hey beautiful," Peter said from behind Kitty.

Kitty smiles and turns around to throw her arms around the neck of her boyfriend and kiss him. Boyfriend, she still finds it hard to believe that she has one again, and after so long. But she certainly isn't complaining, how could she with one like Peter Parker. After a minute long kiss Kitty and Peter break apart, "Hey handsome, you're here early" she said smiling at Peter who smiles back.

"Well, I didn't want to be late, so I left early," Peter said as they broke apart and then started walking.

"How long have you been waiting," Kitty asked

"Ten minutes," Peter said

"Heh, I didn't expect you to be early," Kitty said

"And what did you expect," Peter asked

"You being ten to twenty minutes late like usual," Kitty said

"Ouch," Peter said making Kitty giggle.

"You are lucky that I downloaded the news app on my phone, at least now I'm much more well informed when you're late," Kitty said

"You're keeping tabs on me now? well that's not creepy," Peter said only for Kitty to smack his arm.

"Shut up. I have you make sure that you're still alive you know. Not to mention look out from any injuries that you try hiding like you did on our second date," Kitty said

Peter wrapped his arm around Kitty's waist then, "I didn't want to worry you, or for it to ruin the date," Peter said

Kitty leaned into Peter, "Well that didn't work," Kitty said

"No, it didn't, you found me out quite quickly," Peter said

"I did, and remember that talk we had," Kitty said

"Which talk, we had quite a few that day, we had the talk about you being bisexual, then we had the talk about your lame codenames," Peter said but was slapped in the arm by Kitty.

"SHUT UP YOU JERK," Kitty said, but she was smiling, "My codenames are not lame."

Peter gave Kitty a look, "You named yourself after a soda pop, and the Little Mermaid. That is lame," he said

"That is not where either of those names came from," Kitty said

"Sure, it isn't," Peter said

"It isn't," Kitty said

"So, the fact that your codename was Sprite, and Sprite being your favorite drink has no relation what's so ever," Peter said

"Yes, exactly. It's a coincidence," Kitty said

"Quite the coincidence," Peter said

"It is a coincidence, Sprite was Storm's idea, after the little mythical creatures that cause trouble," Kitty said

"Ok Ariel, mind explaining that name," Peter said smirking

"Ariel did not come from the little mermaid, that was Professor Xavier's idea, and he got is from The Tempest. Seriously Ariel is like number seven of my Disney princess list. Like I would choose number seven for a hero name," Kitty said

"Right," Peter said

"Why are we still arguing about this? You know where the names come from, I told you this the first time around," Kitty said, referencing to the discussion she and Peter had about the origins of her codenames.

"Honestly? I really love how worked up you get about them," Peter said

"You are such a jerk," Kitty said

"You're cute when you're worked up," Peter said as he kissed Kitty's head making her giggle.

"Dork. So where are we going," Kitty said

"How's Steak and Shake sound," Peter asked

"Sounds like we're sharing a milkshake," Kitty said making Peter laugh.

"Is that a problem," Peter asked

Kitty looked up in mock though, "Hm, no, just stay away from my fries," she said making Peter laugh.

Eventually Peter and Kitty make it to Steak and Shake where Peter once again opened the door for Kitty allowing her to enter the restaurant first. Being used to this by now, Kitty smiled at Peter, she really does enjoy how much of a gentleman he is. Once they both enter the restaurant Peter and Kitty find a table near a window. The server then comes by and gives them their menus to order from.

"Think I'm gonna go with a burger and French fries," Peter said

"Chicken tenders and fries for me, and of course," Kitty said

"Milkshake," Peter and Kitty said together.

"But what flavor," Kitty asked

"What else, strawberry," Peter said

"Um, I think you meant to say chocolate," Kitty said

"Nope, I mean strawberry," Peter asked

"But we're getting chocolate," Kitty said

"I do not remember agreeing to that," Peter said

"Peter, we both know that we're getting chocolate. Do I really need to bring out my weapon," Kitty said as she gave Peter a seductive smile.

Peter groaned, "You know, using you feminine charm on a lonely nerd just to get what you want is very mean, and conniving," Peter said

Kitty laughed, "I will do whatever I must to get what I want. If you won't give it to me, I'll take it, Kitty said

"As is the code of the pirates," Peter commented

"You damn right. So, chocolate then," Kitty said making Peter sigh.

"Ok chocolate," Peter conceded

"Yes," Kitty cheered, "Don't worry, I'll give you a nice payment at your place," she said as she looked at Peter proactively.

Peter smirked, "I look forward to it," he said, just then Peter heard a ring, he took out his phone and looked at the caller I.D. once he saw who it was Peter hung up the phone, and put it away.

"Who was it," Kitty asked curiously

"I was Johnny," Peter answered

"Storm," Kitty asked getting a nod from Peter. "Why is he calling you?"

Peter gave Kitty a smile, "He's been trying to set me up on a date," he said

"Oh really," Kitty said, her eyes narrowing a bit, she does not like the thought of Peter going on a date with another woman. Actually, that pisses her off. He's her boyfriend dammit, she's the only one who can go on dates with him, and she will fight anyone who tries. "Why am I just hearing about this now?"

Peter shrugged, "Didn't think it was important," he said, he then noticed Kitty's scowl. Peter grabbed Kitty's hand and squeezed it making her look at him, he then smiled, "I haven't gone on any dates Kitty. Every time Johnny brings it up, I say no immediately. I always tell him I'm not interested. Why would I be when I have you with me."

Kitty smiled at hearing that, and squeezed Peter's hand back, "Guess, I just really don't like the thought of you going out with another woman," Kitty said

"Ditto to you," Peter said

Kitty smiled, "Just women, or we talking men to," she asked

"Both men and women, but mostly women. Knowing my luck, you'd meet a woman that is better than me in every way, and dump me for her," Peter said making Kitty laugh at his joke. She likes how casual Peter is about her sexuality, how it doesn't bother him.

The server comes back to their table, "My name is Alice and I'll be your waitress. What can I get you," Alice asked

"I'll have some chicken tenders and French fries," Kitty ordered

"And I'll have a steak burger with French fries as well," Peter ordered

"We'd also like on chocolate milkshake for the both of us," Kitty said

The waitress wrote everything down on her notepad, "Ok, I'll get that for you right now," Alice said with that she walked away. Ten minutes later Alice comes back with Peter and Kitty's food. She puts them down on the table with the milkshake that has two spoons and straws. "I'll leave you to your meal. Have a nice day."

"You to," Peter said, once Alice left Peter and Kitty dug into their food, Peter getting his burger and Kitty a chicken tender. "So, how has everything been going with Krakoa?" in response to his question Kitty sighed, "That bad?"

"I'm not sure you'd say bad, it's just that the quiet council has been having a lot of meetings. Preparing for the Hellfire Gala, it takes a lot more work than I thought it would," Kitty said

"Party planning normally does," Peter said

"I've used my computer for video meetings more than I have used it to talk to you, and I don't like that," Kitty complained, "I'd rather be talking to you."

"I'd rather be talking to you to believe me. Especially after dealing with Fred and our search for the Lifeline Tablet pieces," Peter said

"How's that going," Kitty asked, Peter has told her all about his search for the pieces of the Lifeline Tablet. How Fisk is after the pieces as well, and the only one who knows where the pieces are is Fred Myers, also known as Boomerang, also known as Peter's roommate. And the only way for Fred to find out is to wait for a vision to come to him. Honestly Kitty doesn't like Fred near Peter, sure she knows that if need be, Peter could kick Fred's butt, he's been doing it for years, but that is only as Spider-Man, but she isn't worried about Fred going after Peter. She is worried about Fisk going after Fred and sending people after Peter to do it, and Peter being Peter wouldn't even try to fight back. All to keep his identity secret, he would let a bunch of men beat him up.

"It's been going pretty well, we've found another piece just yesterday," Peter said

"That's good," Kitty said

"Yeah, the sooner we gather the pieces, the sooner we can get rid of them. All we need is a place to hide it, I was thinking about giving them too Strange. I'm sure he has somewhere he could put them," Peter said

"I'm sure, you know if you need any help finding the pieces. I'm willing to help," Kitty said as she squeezed Peter's hand.

Peter smiled, and squeezed Kitty's hand back, "I appreciate that Kitty, but," Peter said

"I know, if people see me fighting alongside Spider-Man, and dating you. They might get suspicious," Kitty said, they've had this talk before, because Kitty's identity is more public, if people were to see her all of a sudden fight beside Spider-Man, and then find out that she is dating Peter Parker, then people could get suspicious. People are oblivious, but they're not stupid. However, Kitty has a fix for that, that she is currently working on, and it will be done soon.

"I do appreciate you offering to help though," Peter said, it makes him happy to have a girlfriend who will be there for him. He then took a bite of his burger.

"That's what girlfriends are for Peter, well that and keeping their boyfriends in line," Kitty said making Peter laugh. The two then continued to eat their food with Peter succeeding in snatching some of Kitty's fries much to her annoyance, "Stop it you jerk, these are my fries. Eat your own."

"They gave you the good fries though," Peter said as he ate one of Kitty's fries.

"Yeah right, you're just doing this to be a jerk," Kitty said

"Well, you seem to enjoy calling me that every time we talk to each other," Peter said smirking.

Kitty smirked as well, "I call you that, because you can be a jerk," she said. Kitty then takes a fry, dips it in her milkshake, and eats it. "So, how's job hunting?" Peter gave a frustrated sigh at the question, "That bad?"

"That bad, every time they do a background check on me, they find out about the plagiarism charge, and then they say no," Peter said as he sighed in frustration.

Kitty frowned at that, she hates to see Peter so frustrated, she hates to see him struggle, he is so smart and has a lot to offer the world, but no one will give him a chance, all because of that plagiarism charge, it's all Octavius's fault. She eventually got around to asking Peter about his behavior with one of his team-ups with the X-Men, and how he punched Logan. Peter told her the whole story.

Sometime last month

Peter and Kitty were sitting on top of the Empire State Building, cuddled up together as they watched the city below. One of the many advantages of dating Spider-Man Kitty realizes is that he knows a lot of amazing places with amazing views for them to go to. And he has taken her to a few of them, but this one, this one she is making her favorite. The two were just sitting there cuddled up with one another happy to be in each other's presence. There is silence between then, but it isn't awkward, it is a nice and comfortable silence. It is a silence that Kitty enjoys immensely, because even though she does enjoy talking to Peter, it's just nice for everything to be silent allowing her to truly enjoy his presence. However, even though Kitty is enjoying the silence, she has had a question on her mind for a while and she figured that she's waited long enough to ask it.

"Can I ask you something," Kitty asked softly

"Sure, what's up," Peter asked

"Do you remember on our first date, you said that you would never cross Logan," Kitty said

"Yes, I remember," Peter answered

"Well, I remember a team-up between you and the X-Men where you punched Logan in the face, and you were a real jerk," Kitty said getting Peter's attention.

"Oh," Peter said getting a nod from Kitty.

"You were a real jerk and I snapped at you. It's just weird you being a jerk and then all of a sudden changing your attitude back to well what you are right now. I was just wondering what was up with that. What gave the attitude change," Kitty asked

Peter contemplated at what Kitty said, a team-up between him and the X-Men where he was a jerk. Peter hates to admit it, but he has been a jerk plenty of times over the years, either because the stuff that was happening in his life was getting to him, or it was him just not knowing where the line was with his teasing and joking. But when did he get physical with Logan? Last time he remembers punching him was when he was saying terrible things about MJ, Peter wasn't in the mood for his crap and punched him out of Avengers Tower through with what was supposed to be unbreakable glass. But other than that, Peter can't remember any other times that he recently punched Logan. Well, there was that time when Otto was controlling his body. His eyes then widened. Shit.

"Do you not remember," Kitty asked

Peter sighed, "No I remember, that, that is a complicated story," he said

"Really," Kitty asked getting a nod from Peter, "Well, I have time. Could you tell me?"

"Promise you'll believe me. I told this story quite a bit and while there are people who believe it, saying that it makes sense. There are those who calls it bull, and I'm just making up an excuse," Peter said

"You're not the type to make excuses unless they are true. I'll believe you Peter," Kitty said, she then kissed Peter's cheek, "I promise."

Peter smiled, "Ok," he said, he then sighed, "That time where I teamed up with the X-Men, when I punched Logan and acted like a jerk. That wasn't me, that was Otto Octavius in my body."

"In your body," Kitty said in surprise getting a nod from Peter, "How? Where, where were you?"

"Otto had cancer, he was dying, as an act of revenge toward me, he switched our minds. Where he was living my life while I was in the hospital dying of his cancer. Otto, he was screwing my life up, he was gonna use my powers for personal gain, I couldn't let that happen. I escaped the hospital and went after him, we fought each other. However, as we fought, I could feel the cancer take its toll on me. I didn't have long left; I knew that I couldn't beat him. so instead of beating him, I decided to teach him a lesson," Peter said

"A lesson? How would you teach that," Kitty asked

"When we switched bodies, I had gained all of Octavius's memories, from his earliest to his most recent. And believe me some of them were traumatizing," Peter said

"I'm sure, the atrocities that bastard did," Kitty said

"One atrocity in particular," Peter said

"What would that be," Kitty asked

Peter gulped, and Kitty wondered if talking about this was really painful to him. Maybe she should tell him to stop and forget about it. Before she could say anything, Peter spoke, "Octavius dated, and almost married my aunt," he said

That got Kitty's attention, ok she is starting to understand, "Did he hit her," she could see why that is hard to talk about one of the things she's learned about Peter is how much he cares about his aunt, he would do anything for her. Much to her surprise Peter shook his head.

"No, he never laid a hand on Aunt May," Peter said

Kitty was confused now, "Then what atrocity did he commit," she asked

Peter winced again, "Think about it for a minute, they dated, and they were gonna get married," he said, he couldn't say it out loud, it took him a long time to get those images out of his head, he can't go back to that.

Kitty was confused for a moment, but she thought of it, Peter's aunt, and Otto were dating, and were gonna get married. What can two people in their situation do that Peter would consider an atrocity. She'd figured Otto marrying his aunt would be an atrocity enough. She knows that if it was her, and she discovered her mother was marrying Magneto that would be a true atrocity for her. But she knows that isn't the atrocity, so what could they do that Peter could truly hate? The answer suddenly came to her, 'Oh fuck,' she thought as she then gained a horrified look at the images in her head.

"From the looks of it you figured it out," Peter said

"Oh, oh god, oh god," Kitty said in disgust as she then looked at Peter, "You saw that?" In response Peter nodded, "How, how did that not traumatize you?" God if she ever saw her mom and Magneto. NO, NO, she will not think about that, she will not even entertain the idea. If she does, then her nightmares won't only involve drowning.

"Who said I wasn't traumatized," Peter said

Kitty then kissed Peter's lips, "You poor, poor man," she said in sympathy.

"Can we move on, I'm doing my best to keep the images out, but the more we stay on this, the more the memory pushes back," Peter said

"Sure," Kitty said

Peter gave a sigh in relief, "Anyway, so when I switched bodies with Otto, I gained all his memories, well I thought maybe I can give him my memories like he gave me his. I knew it was a long shot but I had no other choice, I went for it. When I got close enough, I transferred my memories to him, and he saw everything. My entire life flashing before his eyes, he saw my happy times, my bad times, he saw my tragedies, and losses. He felt every emotion I felt in those situations, the happiness, anger, sadness, the pain. All of it, and through it all he was able to learn the lesson that I was trying to teach him."

"What was the lesson," Kitty said

"With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility," Peter answered, "He learned it, and finally I died."

Kitty's eyes widened at that, "You died," she said, she knew that it was coming but still she just can't believe it. Peter dying, her Peter.

Peter nodded, "I died, at least for a while, as you can see, I didn't stay dead. Part of my consciousness was left behind in my body, and because of that I was able to return. However even though I was back in my body didn't mean much back then. Otto refused to give my body back, he was the Superior Spider-Man. According to him, he was superior to me in every way. I watched as he lived my life, burned bridges, I watched how more brutal he was toward the criminals. He even killed a man once using my body he killed a man. That's blood on my hands," Peter said

"No, it's not, that's on his hands, not yours. He's the one who killed, not you. You would never kill anyone," Kitty said

Peter sighed, if only that were true, but the truth is if push came to shove, if pushed too far Peter knows that he is capable of killing. He can't help but remember when he went after Fisk, if Aunt May had died that day, he would have kept his word and killed Fisk. Peter decided to banish that thought that is not something to think about now. "Thanks Kitty. I watched as he lived my life, both as Peter Parker, and as Spider-Man, I tried to get my body back, tried to fight Otto, but he was too strong. He beat me, by the end of it, I was just fragments of who I was, I was very weak, but Otto had left some memories for me, the bad thing for him that it was some of the key memories that made me, me. After watching the memories, I gathered my strength and returned. By that time, Osborn was doing his Goblin Nation. Otto eventually realized that he couldn't beat Gobin, but I could, so he gave me back my body, and I saved the day," Peter said

"Wow," Kitty said, she then became sympathetic, "That must have been awful."

"It was, it was hard watching as he lived my life. It was hard to see him interact with all of my friends and family. It was also hard that none of them noticed, that they never thought of looking into the change in behavior. They all just thought that I…I became a jerk," Peter said, he couldn't help but get depressed, remembering how everyone just accepted that he became a jerk, and didn't even try to look more into it, didn't even think that it wasn't him. The Avengers looked a bit into it, but they only did a few tests, not extensive ones. It is upsetting.

Seeing the depressed look on Peter's face as he talked about what happened saddens Kitty. She hates to see Peter this way, gloomy and depressed. That's not how he should be, he should be smiling, and joking, and making her laugh. She can't help but feel sad, guilty, and angry, they should have realized that something was wrong. Spider-Man is a close ally to the X-Men and even a friend, and yet none of them expected anything. He is right, they just thought that he became a jerk, and she hates how right that is. She hates it more than anything, she thought that she was better than that. 'Obviously, I'm not,' Kitty thought to herself, what Peter says next surprises Kitty.

"I guess it's my fault," Peter said

"What," Kitty asked surprised

"I guess it was my fault, maybe if I was a better friend then maybe they all would have noticed," Peter said

"Don't say that," Kitty said getting Peter's attention. "That was not your fault Peter, none of what happened was your fault." Kitty then got up, sat herself on Peter's lap, wrapped her arms around his neck and looked at him, "It's our fault. It's our fault. We should have noticed, but you're right, we just accepted that you became a jerk. We didn't even think of investigating your behavior further." Kitty then rested her forehead against Peter's, "I'm sorry Peter, I'm sorry for not noticing, I'm sorry for not looking into it, I'm sorry for just accepting how you were acting. We should have known better, I'm sorry," Kitty apologized

Peter smiled, "It's ok Kitty, really, it happened, but it's over now. I have my body back, and I'm with you. Everything is ok," he said

Kitty smiled, "You're to forgiving Peter," she said

"Maybe," Peter said smiling as well.

The two looked each other in the eyes, and Kitty just leaned forward and kissed Peter on the lips, which he returned. As they kiss, Kitty makes a promise to herself, that if something like that ever happens again, she'll pay attention, and she'll look into it, no more just accepting what's in front of her.

Present

Kitty hates Otto Octavius, the bastard took over Peter's body, nearly ruined his reputation as Spider-Man, Peter is still working to earn back some peoples trust because of Octavius. And now the bastard is still screwing up Peter's life because he couldn't do a different project in Peter's body then he did in his, and Peter has to face the consequences of that. "Octavius really screwed you over," Kitty said

"Yeah, but I had a hand in it to, if I had just done something about the doctorate," Peter said

"What could you have done? Turn it in? Go to the board and say that you would like to give back the doctorate, because it wasn't you who earned it but another guy who took over your body," Kitty asked

"Well, I probably wouldn't have said it like that," Peter said

"Peter, there was nothing you could do. You wouldn't have been able to explain that, not without revealing yourself. You did everything that you could do in that kind of situation," Kitty said

"Maybe, that doesn't exactly help with what's happening now. I swear if I have to ask Fred to pay for my half of the rent," Peter said sighing.

"What about that thing with Gog, you know taking his picture and selling it? how's that going," Kitty asked

"We're making some money off it, barely enough for treats for Gog, let alone rent. Fred is adamant though, he says that Gog will be the next Lockheed," Peter said

"The next Lockheed? That's a bold statement, I mean don't get me wrong, Gog, he's cute. But Lockheed, come on," Kitty said

"I am telling Gog, you said that," Peter said

"Don't you dare. Come on, I love that little guy, but I've known Lock for years, I kind of have to stick with him," Kitty defended making Peter laugh, "Is there anything you can do?"

"Well, there is one thing I can do, although I told myself I would only do it if I really have to," Peter said

"Oh," Kitty asked

"A…friend of mine, Norah Winters is part of the Threats and Menaces news station, she is willing to get me a job, but I told myself that I would only do that if I had no other choice," Peter said

"Kind of sounds like you have no other choice, unless," Kitty said getting an idea.

"Unless," Peter asked

"Unless, I lend you the money," Kitty offered

"No, no, no," Peter said

"Why not, I have more than enough. Seriously, do you have any idea how much I make now? I make a lot, and I am willing to spend some of it on my man," Kitty said

"Kitty, I appreciate it, but no. I can't take it," Peter declined

Kitty frowned, "Why can't you," she asked

"Involving money in relationships is a bad idea for obvious reasons, especially when we don't know when'd I'd be able to pay you back," Peter said

"Peter, you won't have to pay me back. Like I said, I make more than enough money for myself now. I really don't mind," Kitty said

"I don't want to be a dead-beat boyfriend," Peter said

"You won't be a deadbeat boyfriend. You're trying to find a job, deadbeats they don't look for jobs. Deadbeats just laze around, doing nothing while letting other people take care of them. Trust me Peter, you are not a deadbeat," Kitty said

"Still, you shouldn't have to solve my problems. That is my problem, I need to solve it," Peter said

Kitty reached out and grabbed Peter's hand. "I'm your girlfriend Peter, and I'm always gonna be there to help," she said

"I know, and I appreciate it, but I think I'm just gonna go to Norah," Peter said

Kitty sighed, "Ok, if that is what you want," she said, Kitty can't help but feel a bit frustrated, this isn't the first time that she has offered to pay something for Peter, but every time she has offered to pay for his rent or something, he refuses every time. Says that he doesn't want to take advantage of her, says that it is his problem and that he can handle it. It makes Kitty happy, knowing that he doesn't want to be with her because of her position and the perks that come with it. But it is also frustrating, because Peter needs help, but he is stubborn and won't ask anyone for help. "Just promise me that if it comes to it, and you really need it, you'll come to me. There is no embarrassment in me helping Peter."

Peter smiled, "Dating for a couple of weeks, and you'd be paying for one of the biggest things in my life, practically supporting me," he said

"I'd do it for anyone in my life, anyone who I care about," Kitty said

Peter looked at Kitty, he didn't want to ever entertain the idea of asking her for a handout. It just doesn't feel right to him, you should never involve money in a relationship. He doesn't want to take advantage of her like that. But the determined and stubborn look on Kitty's face says that unless he agrees, she will not drop it. Peter smiled, "The most stubborn woman that I have ever dealt with," he said, Kitty really is an incredible woman, maybe, maybe now he should tell her. He knows that Kitty has been interested in his origins, how he became Spider-Man, but he hasn't said anything so far. He always found a way to avoid that topic. She wasn't pushy about it, probably realized that it is a touchy subject and is willing to wait till he's ready to tell her. Maybe he is ready to tell her, they've been together long enough.

Kitty smiled, she knew what Peter said wasn't meant for offense, that smile on his face giving it away. He is right though, she is stubborn, especially when it comes to the people who she cares about.

"Ok, if I find myself out of options, I will come to you, but you have to promise me, that even if it isn't by money, you will find a way to let me pay you back," Peter said

"Couldn't you being a loving, and caring boyfriend be payback for me," Kitty said

"Kitty," Peter said

Kitty sighed, "Ok, we'll find some way for you to pay me back," she said making Peter smile, only he would be happy of the prospect of someone holding something like how much money he owes them against him, and only he would be happy that some way would be found to pay them back, to pay her back. Well, isn't that one of the reasons why she likes him so much, because of his refusal to take advantage of others.

"That's good," Peter said

"Think I can go with you to see this Norah Winters person when you get the job," Kitty asked

"Sure, that would make me happy," Peter said smiling.

Kitty smiled back, "Good, I want to get a read on Norah," she said

"I've known Norah for a long time. Believe me when I tell you, when it comes to my life as Peter Parker, Norah is one of my least favorite people to be around," Peter said

"So, she's a bitch," Kitty said

"You could say that I guess," Peter said

"Hm, either way, I'd still like to come, I've always wondered what the headquarters of Threats and Menaces looked like," Kitty said

Peter smiled, "If you really want to, you're more than welcome," Peter said making Kitty smile.

The two then continued to talk while eating their meal until they were finally done. After they were done, they paid for the meal, left the tip, and left the restaurant.

"So, what else is on the agenda," Kitty asked as they walked down the sidewalk.

"Well, I was just gonna wing it the rest of the way, but I do have something in mind that I want to do. If you are up for it," Peter said

"Sure. What is it," Kitty asked

"You up for some web swinging," Peter asked

Kitty smiled, "I'm always up for some web swinging," she said, she loves web swinging with Peter, it is so much fun, she'll never forget about her first-time web swinging with him. She was so nervous, but so excited as well.

Sometime last month

Peter and Kitty were at the top of a tall building, Kitty was wearing blue jeans, a bright blue, dark blue striped shirt with three striped going down, over the shirt she is wearing a jacket, while Peter he was wearing his Spider-Man suit sans the mask. "Are you ready Kitty," Peter asked as he looked at Kitty who was looking down at the sidewalk below. She couldn't help but feel nervous about this. Peter notice Kitty's nervousness, "Hey," Peter said getting Kitty's attention, "You ok?"

"Yeah, yeah I'm good, just a little nervous," Kitty said

"Well don't worry about it," Peter said as he walked up and stopped next to her, "I've done this plenty of times. You're not the first person I took web swinging."

Kitty smiled, "And exactly, how many women have you taken web swinging before me," she asked

"Point is, I have never dropped anyone while going on a casual swing," Peter said trying to avoid answering the question. Kitty giggled at his evasiveness, she loves to make Peter nervous, he is just so cute. "So, you ready," Peter asked

"As ready as I'll ever be," Kitty said

"Hey, we don't have to do this. I just offered it, because I thought you'd like it, but if you don't want to, we can do something else," Peter said

Kitty smiled, "No, I want to, believe me I do. I've always wondered what it would be like to swing around the city," she said

"If you're sure," Peter said getting a nod from Kitty.

"I'm sure, let's do this," Kitty said

With that Peter wrapped his arm around Kitty's waist, "I got you, just be sure to hold on to me and not let go," he said

"Ok," Kitty said as she grabbed a hold of Peter. Peter put his mask on and got ready.

"You ready," Peter said

"Ready," Kitty said nodding.

"Ok," Peter said as he shot a web and it stuck to the building, "Here we go." Peter then jumped off the building taking Kitty with him and swung away.

"AHHHHHHHH," Kitty screamed

Present

Kitty smiled at the memory, it took her a while, but she eventually opened her eyes, and when she did the sight before her truly was amazing, all of the buildings, cars, people, just how high they really were. He took them low; he took them high, he took turns, and he did some easy trick that wouldn't scare her out of her mind, he swung her all around New York. It was like another world, and when it became night, that is when she really loved it, it just brought a romantic feel to it. When Kitty finally got comfortable, she just laid her head on Peter's shoulder, and enjoyed it all. That really was a great day, ever since that day, she has come to love web swinging with Peter, and will take every chance she can get to do it.

"Alright, let me change and we can go," Peter said, they then went to an alleyway so Peter could change into his suit.

As Peter changed Kitty kept watch to make sure no one came, she was half tempted to look in there and sneak a peek. Hey what can she say, he's her boyfriend, of course those thoughts would start appearing in her head. She's had a few daydreams, how could she not, his Spider-Man suit does a good job showing his physique. She does wonder when a good time to do that is, she knows that she tends to move fast. But is sex after a month of dating moving too fast? Would he think it would be moving too fast, Kitty doesn't want to push Peter into doing anything he isn't comfortable with doing. She wants them both to be on the same page. It's not like they ever talked about sex before, she doesn't even know how many women he's been with. Does she even want to know? This is something to think about later down the road.

Just then Spider-Man came out of the alleyway and walked up beside her, "You ready," Spider-Man asked

Kitty smiled, "Let's go," she said, with that Spider-Man wrapped his arm around Kitty's waist and she wrapped her arms around his neck.

"Aright, let's go," Spider-Man said, with that he swung them away and off into the air.

"WHAHOOOO," Kitty yelled in glee making Peter laugh which in return she laughed too.

"You really do love this, don't you," Peter asked

"Of course, this is so much fun," Kitty said as she brought herself closer to Peter smiling as she watched everything pass on by. There's just a beauty in this, she's been to space, other dimensions, and alternate timelines, yet nothing seems to beat this. Maybe it's because she's doing it with Peter that makes it so great.

Peter looked down at Kitty and saw how she was smiling and having fun. He's happy about that, happy that he can show her a good time. She is such an amazing woman who deserves the world. Peter doesn't understand how he's gotten so lucky. It's only been a month, and Peter already knows that he is falling in love with her. Peter gives another smile and decides to do a small trick. With that when they are swinging up, Peter lets go of the web and spins in the air getting a joyful laugh from Kitty. Peter then allows them to fall until they are close to the road, once close enough, he shoots a web and he and Kitty are swinging two feet off the ground, alongside the cars. Peter then pulls them up back in the air and let's go of the web, allowing them just to speed up in the air. Peter then shoots another web to a building and makes a turn, swinging them into an arc.

As Peter swung them around New York Kitty was just enjoying the ride, she couldn't help but laugh and smile at all of the things that he is doing. She knows that he is doing all of it just for her enjoyment, and she can't help but be happy about that.

Finally, they approach the Empire State Building, Peter then lands them on the building. Once on top of the building the two let go of one another. Kitty then looks out at the city, and takes in the view, Peter really does know the best spots for the best views. Kitty then looked at Peter, "What are we doing here," she asked

Peter smiled and took off his mask, "I thought that this would be a good place for us to talk," Peter said

"About," Kitty asked curiously

Peter sighed, and then wrapped his arms around Kitty waist again pulling her towards him, "You are an amazing woman Kitty, one of the best that I've ever known, and this past month with you has been amazing. We never run out of things to talk about, it truly amazes me the things we can talk about. We've talked about important issues to the most insignificant things. We can literally turn anything into a full-blown conversation between us. I lose track of time when I'm with you, time with you always feels short. It never seems like we have enough," Peter said smiling making Kitty smile as well, and even blushing at what he is saying. "Your kind, smart, funny, caring, extremely beautiful, and let's not forget a total badass." Kitty laughed at that, because that isn't the first time that Peter has called her a badass, and as far as she can tell it won't be the last, not that she's complaining. "You're independent, and really stubborn, you were right on our first date where I just saw the tip of the iceberg of your stubbornness, yet your stubbornness is also one of the great things about you. You're an astonishing woman Kitty, and you've proved it even more today, for wanting to help me with my money issue. No matter how much I say no, you just keep persisting."

"It's because I care about you Peter, I don't want to see you fall on any hard times. I don't want to see anything bad happen to you. If it is possible for me to help you then I will help you," Kitty explained

Peter smiled, "I know, and you're amazing because of it. It's also why because of this I think I haven't been fair to you," he said surprising Kitty.

"What do you mean," Kitty asked

"You told me your story Kitty, how you became an X-Man. Yet when you asked me how I became Spider-Man I didn't answer, I evaded the question. You told me your story, you told me your reason, but I never told you mine," Peter said

"Peter, it's ok, really. I wasn't angry for you not telling me, I'm still not angry. The reason why you became Spider-Man doesn't matter to me. I'm not dating Spider-Man, I'm dating Peter Parker. That's all that matters to me. Whether you tell me a month from now, a year, a decade, or even never. I won't care, it doesn't change anything between us Peter," Kitty explained

"Maybe, but you deserve to know, most people who knows I'm Spider-Man knows the how and why. Bobby, Angelica, the Fantastic Four, Logan, some of the Avengers, even some of my exes know. It's not right for you to not know. You deserve to know," Peter said

"Are you sure," Kitty asked, she wants to know, she really does, she's always wondered about his origin story even before they started dating. Her wonder had only increased when they started dating, but seeing how he reacted when she asked the look on his face, she knew that whatever the reason couldn't be good. She didn't want him to go through any pain just to sate her curiosity, so she decided to wait for him to tell her on his own time, no matter how long that was. But now he is offering to tell her, she wants to know, but she doesn't want to see him go through any pain.

"I'm sure, I just hope you don't think less of me when you find out," Peter said

Kitty reached up and cupped Peter's cheek, "Did the others think less of you when you told then," she asked

Peter shook his head, "No," Peter said

"Then what makes you think I will," Kitty asked

"Everyone has different reactions. It's always a fear of mine," Peter said

"You can tell me anything Peter. I won't judge you," Kitty reassured

Peter sighed, "Let's sit down," he said, they then sat down against the wall. "When I first created Spider-Man, I did it purely out of selfishness," Peter said surprising Kitty.

"What," Kitty asked getting a nod from Peter.

"I originally created Spider-Man to make money, Spider-Man was never supposed to be a superhero. He was created to entertain people," Peter said

"What do you mean created to entertain people," Kitty asked

Peter sighed, "I guess I should start from the beginning. When I was in high school, I was your stereotypical nerd, round rimmed glasses, sweater vests, had the best grades in the school, teachers loved me, students hated me, even my fellow nerds. I was bullied a lot, I was called names, I was humiliated, I was beaten up. You name it, it probably happened to me. I tried to make friends, I tried to ask girls out, but it always wound up the same. With me being blown off. I always wondered why they did that; I was nothing but nice to everyone. I always wondered why they chose me to pick on. What did I do to them? Was it because I was smart? Was it the way I was dressed? I didn't know, sometimes I would find myself coming home crying," Peter said

As she heard that, as she heard everything that Peter has been through in high school, as she looks at his face as he explains what happened to him, when she heard that he was actually brought to tears because of the way he was treated, that made Kitty sad, and furious. Furious at how Peter was treated so horribly, he had done nothing wrong and yet they all were just so cruel to him for no reason, but what because he was a nerd. If she had been their Kitty wouldn't have let any of that stand, if she had been there, she would have punched the first person who said anything terrible to Peter. Those kids who were mean to him, they probably forgot all about it, all about him. They probably never even apologized to him. Well, if Kitty runs into any of them, she doesn't care how changed they are, she's punching them. Let's see them go through any of the pain they made Peter go through. Peter's voice took Kitty out of her thoughts.

"Everyone picks on the nerd like it's no problem, the thing is what everyone doesn't realize that while they do that. The nerd becomes angry, they become angry and resentful, and that just continues to build up until finally when there is nowhere for it to go, it just explodes. That anger, it changes people, some people become short tempered, and violent while others they just stop caring. Me, I just stopped caring about people, the whole world could have burned down, and I wouldn't care, the only two people I cared about were my Aunt May, and Uncle Ben. I told you about them already," Peter said getting a nod from Kitty, Peter has told her all about his aunt and how much of a wonderful woman she is. He's also told her some of his uncle, and from what she gathered he sounded like a great man.

"Uncle Ben and Aunt May were the only ones who seemed to care about me, they were always on my side, always supporting me. I knew that as long as I had them then I would be fine," Peter said, he then sighed, "One day there was a science exhibit at Empire State University science hall, we got to see a demonstration of the Isotope Genome Accelerator."

"The Isotope Genome Accelerator, as in the one that split you in half," Kitty asked as she remembered the story Peter told her on their first date.

"The very same, they were making a demonstration, but during the demonstration, what no one noticed was a spider that came down from the ceiling and was blasted by the Accelerator, the spider then came to me and it bit my hand. I'll never forget the spider bite it was burning. I felt sick, so I left and went outside. As I was walking, I felt a buzzing in my head, and then I jumped away from a moving car and stuck onto the wall of a building. I soon discovered that spider bite had given me powers. I had super strength, super agility, super speed, I could stick to walls, and much more. So, what do I do with these powers? I decided to show them off and make some money off them. I went to a wrestling match where the person who beat Crusher Hogan got a cash prize. I went home, put on some old clothes and a mask, and I took the challenge, I of course beat Crusher. That's when I ran into a man Max Schiffman, the guy wanted to make me famous, after that I made the suit, the web shooters, and Spider-Man was born. I went on talk shows, did wrestling matches, everything. It was amazing, I was making money, popular, famous, people loved me. For quite some time life was good," Peter said, he then became depressed which Kitty noticed.

"Peter," Kitty said

Peter sighed, one night after a show, I was leaving the studio when I hear something behind me, it was a guard chasing some guy. Apparently, the guy robbed the studio, and the guard was trying to catch him. The guard, he yelled out to me 'Stop! Thief! Stop him!' I watched as they approached me," Peter said

"What did you do," Kitty asked, afraid that she knew the answer. Peter sighed as he remembered what happened that day.

Peter in his Spider-Man outfit watches as the two approached him, the guard is yelling at him to stop but instead, he steps out of the way, and let's the man pass him and make the elevator, allowing him the escape. The guard then goes up to Peter, "What's with you mister? All you hadda do was trip him or hold him just for a minute," the guard said

"Sorry pal! That's your job! I'm through being pushed around by anyone! From now on I just look out for number one, that's me," Peter said as he then started to walk away.

"I oughtta run you in," the cop said

"Save your breath buddy! I've got things to do," Peter said

Present

Kitty looked on in shock at what Peter just said, she just couldn't imagine that. Peter just blows some guy off like that, letting another guy get away without even doing anything. That is so unlike the Peter that she knows now, but 'That kind of anger, it changes people. That anger made Peter stop caring,' Kitty thought, she can understand that anger, it takes a lot to push through that anger and do the right thing. There have been a lot of times where she just wanted to stop caring, and just not do anything, but she had friends and family that helped her through that. Peter, he didn't go to anyone, she wonders if his aunt and uncle even knew of the bullying. They probably didn't, from what she's heard from Peter his Aunt May doesn't seem like the type of woman who would do nothing while her nephew was bullied. Knowing Peter, he probably didn't want to worry them, and decided to take it on himself.

"I didn't care, it wasn't my problem. Why should I have helped. No one helped me. If people wouldn't help me, why should I help them? That was my thought process at the time. Then one night after making a personal appearance, I get home to see police cars," Peter said, he then fists his hands as he remembered that night, that terrible night. The night that changed everything for him.

"Peter," Kitty said as she rested her hands on his fists, Peter looked at Kitty and he unclenched his fists as he felt her gentle hands. "You don't have to continue Peter," she said as she placed her hands in his, she can see that talking about this, bringing up these old memories is causing him pain. She doesn't want to see him in pain, so she won't know the full story. She doesn't care, she just doesn't want to see Peter in pain.

"No, you need to know this. this is part of me, it is a big part of who I am today," Peter said, Kitty nodded, Peter then took a deep breath and continued his story, "I saw police cars parked by, and I go to see what's going on, I run into one of the officers, and he told me what had to have been the worst news of my life," Peter said

"What did he say," Kitty asked, but she's afraid that she knows.

"He told me that my uncle was shot, murdered. It was a burglar, Uncle Ben took him by surprise, and he shot him," Peter said as he lowered his head as he remembered, he then feels Kitty squeeze his hand making him look at her, she just gives him a soft and supportive smile, that smile makes him continue. He just hopes that smile stays when the story is over, "The officer told me that they had him cornered at the old acme warehouse, right when I heard that I took off running to my room. I got out my Spider-Man costume and put it on. I didn't think the cops would get the job done, so I went to the warehouse, the burglar may be able to hold off the police there, but he wasn't gonna hold off Spider-Man. Using my web shooters I swung there, I entered the warehouse, and I found the guy. I heard him talking about waiting for the moon to go down so he could escape in the night. I wasn't about to let that happen; I got his attention. I spooked him, he tried to run away but I was able to jump right in front of him, I snatched his gun away with my web, and then a gave him a nice hard punch in the face, knocking his hat right off. I grabbed the scruff of his shirt to continue beating him up. But then I saw his face, and I simply couldn't believe who it was. I was horrified," Peter said

"Who was it," Kitty asked gently.

"It was him, the man who robbed the studio, the man who I let go. He was the one who shot and killed Uncle Ben," Peter said

"What," Kitty asked shocked at what she just heard.

"When I saw him, I webbed him up, and left. I didn't know what else to do but to cry. It was that night that I finally learned Uncle Ben's greatest lesson. It is a lesson that I dedicated my life to living by," Peter said

"What's that," Kitty asked

"With Great Power Must Also Come Great Responsibility. That was my uncle's final lesson to me, and I abide to that lesson, even to this day," Peter said

"Peter," Kitty said as she looked at Peter with sympathetic eyes, for him to go through something like that. No one should have to go through that, least of all Peter.

"So, what do you think," Peter asked

"What," Kitty asked

"What do you think…of me? You still want to be with me, even after hearing that," Peter said

"Of course I do. Why wouldn't I," Kitty asked

Peter looked at Kitty, "Because it was my fault," he said surprising Kitty.

"What," Kitty asked

"It was my fault, I'm the reason Uncle Ben died. I'm the reason my aunt no longer has her husband," Peter said

"Peter no, no Peter, don't think that," Kitty said as she looked at Peter, "You are not the reason why he's dead Peter. That burglar is the one who killed him, not you."

"I could have stopped him Kitty, if I had just tripped him or held him for a minute, then Uncle Ben would still be alive," Peter said

"You didn't know Peter, you couldn't have known," Kitty said as she cupped Peter's face with her hands, "It wasn't your faut Peter, you're not the one who pulled the trigger, you're not the one who killed your uncle. He is, not you."

"If I hadn't been so selfish," Peter said

"You were angry, you were a kid. What happened was a terrible unfortunate event. It wasn't right, but it was not your fault Peter, it wasn't," Kitty tried to convince, she can't believe it, all these years, Peter has believed that his uncle's death was his fault. She has to convince him otherwise; she will not let him live the rest of his life with this belief.

"Kitty, so many people before you have told me the same thing, everyone who I have told this story to have said the same thing," Peter said

"And none of them have convinced you," Kitty asked

"No, they haven't, Uncle Ben's death, it was my fault and I accept that. The only thing I can do is continue on as Spider-Man and continue to help people and do what's right. I have great power, and it's my responsibility to use that power to help everyone I can," Peter said

Kitty looked at Peter, "You're not gonna believe me, are you? When I tell you it's not your fault," she asked

Peter smiled, "People have been doing that for years Kitty, I think they all gave up at this point," he said

"Well, I'm not gonna give up," Kitty said, she then wrapped her arms around Peter's neck and kisses him, after a second, she breaks the kiss and rests her forehead on Peter's, "I don't care how long it takes me, I will show you that it wasn't your fault Peter, I promise you that."

Peter smiled, "Good luck with that," he said

Kitty smiled, "I won't need it," Kitty said

Peter and Kitty just sat there in that position for a while until finally they decided to leave.

In the air, Peter wearing his Spider-Man mask was swinging across the city while holding onto Kitty. That conversation was heavy, and they both knew it, but they were both happy that Peter told Kitty. Him telling her brings them closer together as a couple. Him telling her brings a new understanding between them. It shows just how much trust Peter has in Kitty, and that makes Kitty happy. As Kitty looks at his masked face, she wants nothing more than to take off his mask. Seeing that they were high up to the point no one could see Kitty took the chance and took off Peter's mask. Once she sees his face, she observes his brown hair, hazel eyes, his sharp jawline. Once she observes the face of the man before her, a man who has gone through a terrible thing and has endured and kept on moving forward, Kitty can't help but think, 'I'm falling in love with him.' The thought itself makes her smile, she's falling in love and she's happy about it.

Once he found that his mask was gone Peter looked at Kitty and saw her holding his mask. He was about to say something but then he saw her smile, seeing that smile words escaped him, that smile she is giving him truly must be one of the most beautiful that he'd ever seen on her. He's sure of it now, he is falling in love with Kitty, and that makes him happy.

As they looked at each other, Kitty leaned up to Peter and kissed him, and he couldn't help but kiss back. As they continue to kiss Peter continues to swing them away into the sunset.

End Chapter

Chapter 2 is done, hope everyone enjoyed this, it was fun writing. I put that Peter originally became Spider-Man out of selfishness because that is what it looked like to me. I don't think that he could have given the money he made to his aunt and uncle, not without giving an explanation of where he got the money, and it was obvious they didn't know what he was doing. Besides Ben was working, so there was no reason for Peter to help with money. Not that I'm saying that he didn't want to take care of them, only when the time came Peter would do that. Probably when he found some excuse of where he got the money from. Be sure to leave a review, till then, That's All True Believers.
