(Runs past holding cricket bat) Hi! I would love to chat and all, but, uh, well, something got into the Trench, and I can't find it. So, usual disclaimer, I don't own anything but the plot and OCs. Bit of a trigger warning due to someone being shot and first aid being used. Now, have fun and wish me luck! (Keeps running, then screams) It has wings!
After Beatrice reluctantly steered Agatha in the right direction, they four girls finally came across what they hoped was the house of the man who stole their spark plugs. They hoped it was because if it wasn't, they didn't want to know who else would live in such a place. It was a cross between a junkyard, a shack, and a farm, in all the worse ways. They stood at the tree line.
"Alright fearless leader, what's our plan of attack?" Beatrice asked.
` "I go up to the door, knock, and demand our spark plugs back." Agatha said. Beatrice and Cori both looked at her with deadpanned expressions.
"Right. Because the hillbilly with a gun and steals spark plugs is always one for negotiation." Cori said. Beatrice gestured at her with a thumb.
"Exactly, and now, thanks to you, we are probably stuck in an Australian horror movie." Beatrice said. Agatha and Kat rolled their eyes.
"Please, if we were in an Australian horror movie…" Agatha started.
"We'd be dead already." She and Kat said at the same time. They both looked at each other, pointed, and laughed. Beatrice and Cori sighed.
"Alright, if we are going to be making dumb decisions, let's make a few more. Since I have a strong feeling this guy won't be very open to chit-chat, Little me and I will gop looking for the spark plugs. Odds are, they are in the shed." Beatrice said.
"Which shed?" Cori asked.
"The smaller one, probably." Beatrice asked.
"Right. While Kat and I will knock on the door." Agatha said.
Beatrice and Cori crouched down and crept across the yard, moving between large piles of scrap metal and rusted machinery. Beatrice looked around each time they stopped.
"Nine times out of ten, guy like this is going to have a dog. Big dog." She said. Cori looked as Agatha and Kat walked across the yard.
"Well, nothing has come out after them yet, is that a good or a bad thing?" Cori asked.
"Can be bad. Means it don't need to bark." Beatrice said. The two finally made it to the shed.
"Stay out here and keep watch while I look around." Beatrice said. Cori nodded.
Meanwhile, Agatha and Kat made it up to the door. Kat was just as nervous as Cori and Beatrice were.
"Maybe this is a bad idea?" She said. Agatha gave her hand a squeeze as they walked up the steps.
"Don't worry. I've dealt with stuff like this before. You just have to stand tall and show you aren't afraid." She said. Kat heaved a breath as Agatha stepped forward to knock on the door. At that moment, Kat felt her senses perk up. During and after her time under Rita's spell, her instincts and certain behaviors had developed cat-like qualities. She could sense danger, storms, even an earthquake once. It had its downsides though. It wasn't great for a reputation when you hiss at the girl for calling you a blonde bitch.
At the moment Agatha stepped up to the door, all the hair on the back of Kat's neck stood up, and her mind, guts and senses screamed 'danger!'. Quick as she could, Kat pushed Agatha to the side, but it was too late. The crack of the rifle and the resounding boom tore a hole right through the door. And where Agatha's chest would've been, had Kat not pushed her out pf the way. Instead, the bullet went into her right shoulder, causing her to spin and hit the ground with a scream of pain.
Beatrice was out of the shed faster than the bullet, Cori at her heels. They ran up to Agatha, who was rolling on the ground, gripping the hole in her shoulder, and yelling in pain. Before they could get a good look at the wound, a barking caught their attention.
"You were right about the dog." Cori said. Beatrice wasted no time, grabbing Agatha and pulling her left arm across her shoulders.
"Follow me and stay close." Beatrice ordered the younger girls. They quickly ran down the stairs and across the yard. The two younger girls screamed as another bullet went over their head. They reached the forest and ran a few yards into the trees. Agatha was groaning in pain, taking shallow breaths and sweat was pouring down her face. Beatrice laid her on the ground, Kat dropping down on her knees on one side, Cori on the other. Beatrice gently pried Agatha's hand away from the bullet hole.
It was a jagged wound, soaked in bright red blood. As gently as she could, Beatrice turned her over.
"No exit wound. Means the bullet is still in there." She said.
"We should leave it in there." Kat said. Beatrice shook her head, digging into one of the large pockets of her cargo shorts.
"No. We can't risk lead poisoning, and we need to keep her infection rate low as we can out here." She said, pulling a small bottle of amber liquid. Cori raised an eyebrow.
"Is that what I think it is?" She asked. Beatrice shrugged.
"Hey, my uncle Vinny always told me if you are going to rob a place, take a bottle of alcohol. That way you have one last drink before the cops get you." She said, also pulling out her pocket pliers.
"But you couldn't grab the spark plugs?" Cori said. Beatrice stopped in mid movement and groaned.
"Damn it. Alright, first things first, take the bullet out. Then, you two will take her back to the jeep while I get the plugs." Beatrice said, pouring the bottle of scotch over the pliers and over the wound. Agatha groaned in reply.
"Do you even know how to do this?" Kat asked.
"Sure I do. When I was little, my cousin Mike shot my cousin Andy in the arm. We couldn't go to the hospital for… legal reasons; plus they were kinda babysitting me at the time, so Mike showed me how to use a pair of pliers and a bottle of my dad's whisky. Pop was madder about the whiskey than the mess on the carpet." Beatrice said. She got into position, and looked at the two girls.
"Now, I'm going to need you to hold her as still as possible. And hand me that stick. And your jacket." She told Kat and Cori respectively. She gave the stick for Agatha to bite down on.
"Alright, here we go." She said. Without any warning, she plunged the pliers into Agatha's shoulder. Agatha screamed around the stick, trying to twist away from the pain ot turn towards it, but Kat kept a firm hold on her shoulders, while Cori struggled to keep her legs from kicking too much. Blood was going every as Beatrice dug into the wound. After what seemed like hours, but was really a minute and a half, Beatrice pulled the bullet out. Quick as she could, she pressed Cori's jacket into the wound.
"Alright. Keep pressure on that, maybe find a way to latch it to the wound, I'm going back for the plugs. Beatrice said, pouring the rest of the amber liquid on the wound. Agatha was breathing deeper, but still panting, trying to fight the bile that wanted to come up. Beatrice stoof up, and made her way into the forest again.
