Bewitched

Chapter 17: The End Of A Bewitching Saga

Danny had flown back up to the surface and dusted his hands.

"Glad that's over with. Maybe eternity underground will teach him a thing or two about messing with people's lives..."He said, as he flew off.

Soon, he rejoined everyone else.

"Danny!..."Star said, as she ran to him.

"Is it done?! Is Wufong gone for good?!..."Misty asked, looking nervous.

Danny nodded.

"Yep, unless someone in your family comes all this way here and dig 5 miles underground for a piece of a statue, I think we're safe..."He said.

Misty let out a sigh of relief.

"Thank goodness..."She said, almost looking like she'd pass out.

"At least it's over now..."Suyin said, patting her granddaughter on the shoulder.

One that almost pushed her forward.

"Whoa! Laolao... when did you get so strong?..."Misty asked, surprised.

"Umm... never..."The old lady said, looking embarrassed.

Misty, however, felt lightheaded all of a sudden and found it difficult to keep her eyes open.

"Ugh! I don't feel so hot..."She let out, as she place a hand on her head,

It was as if to keep her sense of balance as best as she can. However, the others noticed the expression on her face.

"Misty, are you okay?..."Martin asked, concerned for his sister's sudden grogginess.

He was shocked when his sister suddenly fainted and landed face first in dirt.

"MISTY!..."Mei said as she, Suyin and both her sons ran together to Misty's aid.

"Is she okay?!..."Danny asked, concerned for her.

Star dropped her feelings of enmity for a moment, surprised by what had just happened.

"What's wrong with her?..."Star asked, showing genuine sympathy for the fainted sorceress.

"She must have used way more magic than all of us. We need to get her in bed..."Suyin said, picking her up by the arms.

"We could take her home in the Specter Speeder?..." Tucker suggested, but Misty's mother refused.

"We're trying to save her! Not risk her heart going out!..." Mei shouted, still traumatized by the last flight.

Tucker looked away in slight irritation.

"It was just a suggestion..."He muttered.

"I don't think all of the temple was destroyed. Let's take her there for now..." Danny said, as he hurried over and lifted Misty with Martin's help.

"Okay... help me get a few things..." Suyin started to explain what she needed.

A little later

Misty had been relocated to one part of the temple that was still intact.

After sealing the hallway that reached the destroyed remains of the former temple, the heroes all gathered around Misty, who was still unconscious. Mei placed a wet cloth on her daughter's forehead, while Suyin and Martin both stood by her side.

"How is she?..."Max asked, worried about his sister.

"She'll be fine, Max. She's just...tired..."Suyin said, seeing that as the best explanation for Misty's condition.

As this continued, Danny, Star and the rest of Team Phantom were several feet away.

"So...what do we do now? Wufong is gone, but is Misty still someone we can be okay with after this?..."Star asked, looking unsure.

Danny was quiet for a while, not sure how to respond to this.

"I don't doubt there's good in her... but she's made a lot of mistakes..."He said, looking a bit unsure at the moment.

"Exactly, let's just get rid of the book and get restraining orders on her..." Sam said.

"And what do you think we should tell the court? That she tried to use magic to seduce a half-ghost superhero so she can have his baby someday?..." Jazz asked sarcastically.

"Okay... fair point..." Sam groaned, knowing that this is very complicated.

Danny sighed.

"One of the downsides of a double life..."He muttered, and Star sighed too.

"Mmm..."Was heard coming from Misty.

"She's waking up!..."Mei said, looking relieved.

"Remember... avoid giving her grief...at least for now..." Danny whispered to Team Phantom.

Star frowned but remained quiet as she agreed to do as her boyfriend asked...for now.

Right now, all of Team Phantom went to check on Misty's current condition.

Misty slowly woke up, and soon saw her family, her crush, Star, and the rest. Seeing all of them here, the dark haired girl felt guilt once more. She remembered everything that had happened, and felt awful right now.

"Please tell me that it was all just a bad dream!..."She said, feeling really small right now.

"Sorry, no such luck..."Danny said, gesturing to their environment.

Misty cringed, as her mother and brothers helped her up.

"Are you alright, Misty?..."Mei asked, not sounding like her usual self.

"I...I'm fine..."Misty said, looking nervous.

Now that the danger was over, she knew that it was time to face the consequences of her actions.

"Crud, here it comes!..."She thought, not looking forward to this.

To her surprise, her mother pulled her into a hug and started sniffling.

"Huh?!..."Misty went, only to hear her mother's sobbing cries.

"You foolish girl...don't ever scare us like that again!..."Mei sobbed, shaking as she held her daughter wrapped tightly in her arms.

"Y-You're not mad?..." Misty asked, surprised by her mother's reaction.

"Who says I'm not mad? I am but...I'm just... relieved that you're still alive!..." Mei said, still holding her daughter tight.

"We all are..." Suyin said, as she too hugged Misty.

"Ditto..." Max said, as he hugged her leg.

"Same here..." Martin went, as he joined the family hug.

Team Phantom saw all of this and, despite all that she put them through, they couldn't help but feel a little happy for Misty and her family.

"Guess that she doesn't have to feel alone anymore..."Danny said, as Star stood behind him, watching this.

"Her mother came all this way for her despite how frosty things were... all without a French pig or blissful ignorance for years getting in the way... I guess that I found something I envy from her..." She thought.

Once the hug was done, the realization of what happened hit them.

Really hard.

Mainly the fact that they all help a teenage superhero defeat an evil Chinese dragon.

"I can't believe this. It's over..."Mei said in a stunned voice, looking in awe.

"Awesome! We fought an evil dragon and won!..."Max said in excitement, still amazed.

"We did..."Martin said, as his little brother still celebrated.

"Technically that was him..." Misty said, pointing at Danny.

Her little brother just shrugged.

"But it was thanks to our magic that he was able to do all that cool stuff in the first place, so... I still say it was us..." Max said, earning a chuckle from the others.

"Sure..." Misty said with an eyeroll.

This caused all of the Smith- Yang family members to begin laughing at how surreal this night has been for them. As that was done, the recollection of what happened got to Star.

The blonde girl, finally relaxed, went to her boyfriend.

"Oh Danny, I was so worried..."Star said, as she hugged her boyfriend.

"No need to worry now, Starlight..."Danny said, as he embraced her.

Misty saw the loving moment, looking away with a mental sigh.

"He really loves her...doesn't he?..."She thought in bittersweet acceptance.

However, once Star became aware of Misty's staring, Misty decided to voice what she knew now was solid truth and an apology too.

"Star...I'm sorry...about everything. Danny is your boyfriend. Not mine. I see it now..."Misty said, looking guilty right now.

Star frowned before she took a breath.

"Well...according to Boo here...Wufang or whatever his namewas kinda increased your jealousy and craziness...so...I guess that I can't completely hate you...I guess..."She said, while she still glared at Misty.

Misty looked guilty and darted her eyes away, too ashamed to face them.

"Right..."She said before she turned to her family.

She was feeling like a quivering rabbit being cornered by an angry guard dog that's protecting what in her territory from intruders. Misty knew that the time for laughter had ended and any more would have to come much later. Rght now, she had to face the music from her family.

She lowered her head down in shame, expecting the worst.

"I'm so sorry...for all of this. I understand if you all want me out of your lives..."Misty said, expecting them to cast her out.

However, that never happened.

"Misty...What on earth are you talking about? Do you actually think that we would do that to you?..." Mei said, a little taken aback from what her daughter had assumed what they were about to do to her.

"We would never do that, Misty. Ever!..."Laolao said, looking appalled by the mere idea.

"Even I think kicking you out would be overkill, even if all this craziness did happen..."Max said.

"Plus, we came all this for you, after all..."Martin said, reassuring his sister and putting her nerves at ease.

"Really? After all this? After what I hid from you all?..." Misty asked, surprised by this.

"I still had tons of fun either way..."Max said, but got his ear pulled by his mother.

"THIS kind of fun isn't good! Remember that, Maxwell!..."Mei said, not wanting a repeat of this.

"Okay, Mom..."Max whined.

Seeing the familiar family dynamic made Misty chuckle a bit, despite everything.

"I thought...for sure that...you'd reject me...that neither of you would want anything to do with me..."Misty said, pleasantly surprised by her family's forgiveness.

"We are a family, Misty. We never abandon each other, ever. Nothing is ever going to change that..."Suyin said seriously.

"Indeed. Not even an evil Chinese ancestor magic user haunting a spell book can change that fact..."Martin said, meaning it.

"Yeah, plus, who else am I gonna tease every day?..."Max asked in a joking manner.

Misty had slight tears in her eyes before letting out another chuckle. She began to shed tears that she couldn't stop, and these weren't just of sorrow. A little joy was in there too.

"You're all stranger than any spell in this book, but I wouldn't have any of you in any other way. I love you guys..."She said, smiling and letting out tears of joy running down her face.

The Yang clan then came together in a family group hug, feeling closer than ever. Mei then grab an extra handkerchief from her back pocket and turned to her daughter.

"Here..." Mei said, as she wiped away Misty's tears in a motherly fashion.

"Thank you, Mom. Again, I'm so sorry I hid all of this from you..." Misty admitted.

Mei heard all of this as tears formed in her eyes. Guilt and shame filled her for being so blind to her own children misery.

From discovering her son dropping out due to pressure, and her daughter's venture into magic...she knew that she was responsible for how desperate they had become and made sure drastic choices.

"It was all my fault...I pushed all of you too hard..."She said, feeling extreme guilt.

The mother knelt in sorrow as she sobbed.

"I just want the best for my children..."She said, as she cried into her hands.

"Mom...You didn't know about the book..."Misty said. "It was my fault for not saying anything and for keeping a huge secret from all of you..."She said, feeling bad that her mother was beating herself over it.

As usual, Mei remained stubborn even when placing blame on herself than her children for everything that's happened tonight.

"It only happened because I gave you nothing but grief, controlling every aspect of your life like those PGJ games..." Mei said.

"It's RPG..." Max corrected.

"You get the point..." Mei said, as she wipes away the tears on her face.

"Mom..." Misty said.

Despite the tone, Misty felt something was to happen between them.

Even so, It was hard seeing her usually stern mother break down like she did. Misty would be lying if she said there was no catharsis found in this predicament, but after seeing how Wufong manipulated her emotions and hurt everyone around…well, her heart would not let the mother drown in pain.

Her mother sighed, as the young sorceress just continued.

"I have a feeling things will be different, but I think we need…a talk?..."Misty replied, partially feeling awkward seeing her mother in this state.

"Of course we do..."Mei said, and Misty felt worse now.

However, she recalled that they kinda have an audience.

Everyone in the family has gone through enough today, and she didn't want to air more of their family's dirty laundry to practical strangers.

"Everyone? Give us some family privacy?..." Mei asked, surprising Team Phantom.

"Uh... we have to talk to Misty abou-..." Sam stopped upon seeing the scowl on Mei's face.

Not wanting to get into a fight with the stern middle aged woman and the look from Danny, the goth girl sighed.

"Sure..."She said, and the others nodded.

Team Phantom then excused themselves, giving privacy to those of the Smity-Yang family.

Now it was just them.

"So..."Misty said, wondering what is next.

Mei sighed.

"Even though I may hold responsibility here...I do realize that I have no reason not to ground you for life, you know that right?..." Mei asked, and her daughter nodded.

"Yeah..."Misty said, having expected that at some point.

That's when Mei exhaled out her nose before dropping her stern look.

"Even so...I have no reason to judge...especially since most of this wasn't really your fault since that awful Wufong controlled you...and maybe you wouldn't have fell into his grasp if it wasn't for my own mistakes..."Mei said, readying herself to admit her past misdeeds.

"Misty...I know I have been harsh on you...and I realize now that I was harsher than even I realized..."Mei said, looking guilty.

"I'm sorry for everything but when I look at you...I sometimes see a part of myself that I had thought that I left behind back when I was younger..."She said surprising her child.

"I do?..."Misty asked, surprised.

"She does?..."Martin and Max both asked, also surprised.

Mei nodded, smiling nostalgically at her daughter.

"Yes, you do..."She said.

"But what does that mean?..."Misty asked, confused.

"It means that you are not the only one who made foolish choices out of love. Take it from me, I've seen your mother at her lowest moments of her young life, even when I tried to stop her..."Suyin said.

"And let's just say that It wasn't a pretty sight..."She added.

"Mother..."Mei said, as she looked annoyed and embarrassed at being reminded about her past.

However, Suyin sent her daughter a stern look.

"Mei, it's time! The children have a right to know..."The old lady said.

"Know what?..."Misty asked, wondering what else is about her family that she was about to learn more of tonight.

"What is this about?..."Martin asked, though he had a slight idea on what this might be about.

"Have you ever wondered why your mother had Martin at the age of 20?..."Suyin asked, being as calm and gentle as possible with telling this story.

"And why you kids rarely visited me when Martin was a little boy...before moving in and how your father left a few years ago?..."Suyin asked, hinting at the answer.

Misty and her brothers did wonder but never bothered to ask.

"I just... assumed that Dad and Mom just argued a lot..." Misty said, recalling her early childhood when her father was in the picture.

"It's because my daughter is very stubborn and reckless too. With a lot of pride, ever since she was a child. Too much pride to see who is wrong for her too..."Suyin said, making Mei look away in shame.

"Wait, what?..." Misty asked, as her grandmother continued.

"Part of the reason Mei acts so strict and hard as she is, especially on you Misty...is because she wanted to make up for past mistakes...that and too much pride..."Suyin said, as she sent her daughter a look as if to say she should confess.

Mei tried to look away, but Suyin's glare made it clear it was time. Mei wanted to argue but she gave in with a groan, as she knew that she couldn't keep her secret any longer.

It was time.

"Remember when I told you all that I met your father in high school, Matthew Eric Smith? Well, I did...he was my first serious boyfriend and I loved him...or I thought I did. Honestly, I'm not sure if he really loved me..."Mei said, frowning.

"Anyway, I was a girl in love and I felt that I'd never love anybody else. However, your Laolao here never approved of him, saying that he'd never make anything out of himself..."Mei said, regretting not listening to her. "And in hindsight, she was right..."She said in bitterness before continuing.

Misty blinked, while Martin sighed.

"Well, I don't disagree with that..."He said, since he recalled what a disappointment his father was.

His mother sighed, before she continued.

"However, I was a lot like you at your age. Always finding ways to excite my life and getting really into something that I like. I thought I found love and I insisted on it. I dated your father all throughout high school. He was something of a bad boy type and was very wild...I guess that was part of what attracted me to him...or rather, I was just a naïve girl who placed her trust in the wrong person..."She said remorsefully, upset with her past self for making such a foolish mistake.

But Mei never regretted having her kids or ever thought of any of them as mistakes, not ever. She loved all of them dearly. It's just their father she lost love in.

Anyway, the unhappy woman continued to talk about her past to her children.

"I dated him and by the time we graduated, he asked me to marry him. I was young and in love, and I wasted no time in saying yes. However, your grandmother here forbade it and said that I shouldn't marry him...and I didn't listen. I was stubborn and unwilling to obey her...so I eloped with your father after I turned 18 and ran away with him..."Mei said, crying a bit.

"Mom?..." Misty asked, as her mother continued.

"However, while it was fun at first...it wasn't the happy married life I thought it be. By the time I began to have second thoughts about everything, I was already pregnant with Martin, so...I had to kiss college goodbye for the time being..."Mei said, sad.

However, she saw the look on her eldest child's face and she worried he might misunderstood.

"Don't get me wrong, I love all of you and I don't regret being your mother...I just regret how careless I was..."Mei said, wanting to be clear to her kids that she didn't regret having any of them.

"I...see..."Martin said, while his mother continued.

"As I was saying...I got married and pregnant at a young age. Your father and I had to settle for whatever jobs we could qualify for without a college degree and even when we both worked, it barely paid the bills. I even had to take a job mopping at a fast food joint at one point while he gambled at the horse races, spending half the time losing money than gaining..."She said with disdain in her voice, before she continued.

"A few years later, your Laolao and I came into contact again by the time Misty were born and we had probably the biggest and loudest argument that day. Afterwards, things died down and we began to reconcile...and it was around that time your father showed what a deadbeat he is and didn't bother leaving a note whenever he left. He just went out acting reckless, either drinking or gambling. I foolishly thought that he could change someday...that I could change him but he didn't. He didn't even try and didn't care. He was just a lost cause..."Mei said, angered by her poor sense of judgment back then.

"I stopped loving him a long time ago, but we already had three kids and barely making ends meet. I had to work, take care of you three and study through college after getting in. Not to mention, work late shifts in order to have a better chance of paying the bills...however...things got worse after your father got laid off and was spending more time away from home. And...I found out why it happened..."Mei said, furious and frustrated at remembering that moment.

"What exactly happened?..." Misty asked, having a bad feeling about this.

"It was another woman..."Mei said, struggling to say the last part.

"What?..."Misty asked, horrified while her brothers eyes widen.

Mei nodded, tears forming in her eyes.

"You all were too young to understand...and Martin was busy preparing for exams...I didn't want to tell you all out of fear of what you'd all think of your father...and of me...He wasn't even working at the time...but he spent the money I earned like it was his own...and he was seeing another woman..."She said, fist clenching a bit as she continued.

"It was some trampy girl he met at a bar and he fell for her looks like cat on catnip. Then one day, he left. He just left and didn't even bother to leave behind a note or say goodbye. Haven't seen him since..."Mei said, still holding a rage filled grudge against that man.

"Mom..."Misty said, feeling completely sympathetic for her mother.

"Mommy..."Max said, worried about his mother.

Mei let out a breath that she didn't know that she was holding as she continued.

"After he left, I went to your laoalo and admitted that she was right all along...but she forgave me. She didn't even lecture me about any of it and invited us to stay with her until I got a better job and saved up enough to get our own place...until we felt that we were finally ready to leave. That's why we are still with her now..."Mei said, relieved for finally saying it.

She gave a sad smile, finally getting that weight off her chest.

Martin, Misty and Max were completely silent after hearing everything and needed a moment to process it all.

"I...I knew Dad was a jerk...but...wow. He sounds... awful..."Misty said, frowning at the thought of her father.

"He was..."Mei said bitterly.

"I never expected that..."Misty said.

"Me neither..."Her mother said, sounding regretful.

It was then that Martin and Max, who heard all of this, spoke up.

"I always... sort of knew. Dad always was a loser even when he was living with us...so I'm not surprised that's what actually happened..."Martin said, as their mother sighed.

"He always was the most observant one in our family..."She thought.

"Well, that's how it happened..."Mei said, before sending a regretful look to her only daughter.

"Misty, I'm so sorry that I was always so harsh and restrictive with you...but I was trying to protect you from making the same mistakes I made. I didn't want you to throw your entire future away on some boy like I did and ruin your life...but it was because of me that you're entire life was almost destroyed by someone far worse then your father, and I didn't think that was even possible. I almost lost you because of that spirit and you almost became essentially breeding stock. Thankfully both those deadbeats are out of our lives forever and you are safe. But I'm still sorry..."Mei said, regret evident in her eyes.

Misty only had one thing to ask.

"Why didn't you ever say that?..."Misty asked.

"Because I was scared...ashamed of all my failures and I wanted to make sure that none of you went through what I went through...desperately hoping that all your hard work would lead you all towards a better life..."Mei said, sniffling a bit as she looked back at her recent actions.

Misty looked back at all the times that she thought her mother was lecturing her and making study nonstop, seeing it all in a brand new light and point of view.
It was her way of making sure Misty didn't repeat her mistakes.

"On top of it all, you're not the only one who I've micromanaged for a long time...or who I drove into making drastic choices..." Mei said, looking to Martin.

Martin shade a tear and steadied his nerve to speak up clearly.

"Mom...I'm sorry that I kept secrets and didn't tell you what I did. But...I had to..."Martin said.

"You dropped out of college after working so hard to get into it..."Mei said, upset.

"I know you're mad at me...and I don't blame you..."He said with a sigh.

He then grabbed something to present to his mother, in hopes of making up to her in some small way.

"I know this is not much but...here..."Martin said as he pulled something from his bag. "I meant to tell you everything at home and give you this...but I guess now is as good of a time as any..."He said, as he presented it to her.

It was an envelope, that he handed to his mother.

"What's this?..."Mei asked.

"Open it..."Martin said.

Mei did so and was stunned to see a large amount of money in this.

"What the?! Martin, there's thousands of dollars here!..."She said, shocked to see so much money.

"About 20 grand to be more precise..."Martin said, shocking everyone even more.

The rest of the family were surprised as they didn't expect Martin to have so much.

"It's some of the money you spent for me to go that college. It took a while for me to save that much up. I know that I did something bad by dropping out and not telling you..."He said, taking responsibility for his actions.

He pointed to the money in his mother's hand, a serious look on his face.

"I know that this isn't enough to cover all the money you spent on me, but I promise I'll work hard and pay the rest back as soon as I can. In the meantime use this money on Misty and Max. They need it more than I do..."Martin said.

"Martin?..."Mei said, touched by his gesture.

"Mom, I'm sorry but I wanna be a toy designer. It's been my dream for as long as I can remember. I wanna try and take a chance while I still can..."He said, being sincere.

"And you don't have to worry about paying for me anymore. I already got a job, filled out a loan and even qualify for some scholarships. I'll pay my own tuition now but just know that I've made up my mind..."Martin said, holding a serious look on his face.

With that, Mei took one last breath and smiled. Despite her own feelings, she knew that her eldest child is a man now and that these are his true feelings.

"Okay... I can't really control how you live your life anymore since you're already over 18. Legally speaking, I can't stop you even if I wanted to..." Mei said, before sighing.

"Okay, Martin. You're an adult now and can make your own choices. If this is what you truly want...I guess I don't have a choice but to accept it..."She said, before becoming serious.

"But I AM expecting you to graduate with at least a bachelor's degree at the very least! Also, this better be the LAST I hear of dropping out, got it?..."Mei asked, going back to her stern self.

Her eldest son chuckled at that.

"I got it. And trust me, I have no plans on leaving my dream school..."Martin said.

"Good. At least you'll be able to get a job when you're ready to graduate...so there's that..."Mei said, in a rare moment of compromise.

Suyin sent her a proud smile, happy that her daughter was finally letting go of her baggage and being more flexible with her family.

"What about me?..." Max asked, hoping to get more freedom too.

"You're not even old enough to see PG-13 movies on your own... you got a long ways to go..." Mei said, still being her protective self.

"Ugh!..." Max went.

The rest of the family laughed, feeling lighter than before.

That's when a certain goth cleared her throat as Team Phantom were at the temple entrance, waiting for them.

"Hate to interrupt... but isn't it time for us to go?..." Sam said, pointing to her watch.

"Right...I don't think we can all fit in the Speeder though..." Danny said, while Mei flinched.

"There is no way I am going to ride in that death trap again!..."Mei said, still horrified from that experience.

"Mom, it couldn't have been that bad, right?..."Misty said.

"It was..."Suyin said, just as freaked out, much to Misty's surprise.

"She's not wrong..."Martin admitted.

"I don't get what everyone is taking about. It was cool..."Max said in a childish way.

"Well, how else do you guys expect to get home?..."Star said, since they refused to use the Specter Speeder.

"It take a lot of money to buy plane tickets and Mei has made it clear she can't stand flying...and a boat would take too long..."Suyin said, while her daughter got an idea.

"Uh...Misty? How exactly did YOU get all the way here?..."Misty asked.

"With a spell..."Misty explained, while her mother sent her a desperate look.

"I know that this might sound ironic coming from me...but...can you use that spell to send us all back home?..."She asked, almost pleading now.

"Wait... really?..." Misty asked, and her mother nodded.

"I trust you..." Mei said, before cringing.

"And ANYTHING is better than flying in that metal menace..."Mei said, still traumatized by the whole experience.

"I see. Well, without Wufong, there is another spell but it would take a lot of magic..."Misty said.

"Then let us help out..."Suyin said.

"For real?..."Misty asked.

"Of course, family has to stick together...and I happen to agree with your mother. Anything is better than flying in that machine..."Suyin admitted.

"I'm not THAT bad of a pilot..."Tucker muttered under his breath.

"Yes, you are. And I'm driving next time..."Sam said, glaring at him.

Tucker frowned at that, but was ignored.

"Okay...well...we're gonna have to hold hands and chant the spell together..."Misty said.

"Oh boy, again..."Max said, looking excited to use magic again.

The Yang's soon held hands, ready to start.

Misty took a deep breath as she looked at her spell book and an aura surrounded her and her family. However, the aura was golden now and she regained just enough to send everyone home.

"Take us to the building I call home..."She chanted in Chinese.

"Take us to the building we call home..."Her family chanted as well.

Soon, the aura surrounded her, her family, Team Phantom and the specter speeder. In a flash, they were off.

Like a beam of light, they left China, heading back to the states.

Back in America

The group and the Speeder were now in Elmerton, on the rooftop of where the Smith-Yang family live.

"We're home. Thank goodness!..."Mei said, relieved.

"You did it..." Danny said.

"Yeah..." Misty said.

"That was so cool..."Max said, excited.

"Yes, it was..."Suyin said, with a chuckle.

"Hmm...I wonder if with enough practice, we'd be able to go any place...Like Cabo...or Vegas..."Suyin said, an intrigued look on her face.

"Mother!..."Mei said in a scolding manner.

"What?..."Suyin said, acting innocent.

As the two began to bicker, Misty let out a sigh of relief.

"I'm glad we're back..."She said.

"Uh...speaking of which...we do kinda have to talking about the...ghostly elephant in the room?..."Danny said, feeling awkward.

"Ghostly elephant?..."Misty asked.

Danny sighed, as he changed back into his human form.

"Oh, right. That..."Misty said, feeling awkward.

"I swear, I'll never tell anyone your secret..."She said.

"And we can trust you because...?"..."Sam asked, and the sorceress flinched.

"I know I messed up a lot, but I can keep secrets. I didn't even tell anyone about...well...that thing about Star from the last time we...met..."Misty said.

"What is she talking about?..."Suyin asked, confused.

Star sighed.

"Since you already know about Danny-Boo's secret, I'm Starlight Spirit..."Star said, surprising the Yang's.

"You are?!..."Mei and Suyin all went.

"Duh..."Star said, as Mei leaned closer to her for some reason.

"Huh? Now that I look closer...blonde hair...same height...how did I miss that?..."She asked, feeling stupid right now.

"Better question, how did we miss Danny Fenton and Danny Phantom?..."Max pointed out, and Danny flinched.

"Don't beat yourself up over it kid, no one else noticed either..."Tucker said.

"Anyway...it's sorta a big deal...my secret identity... and...any chance we can keep this between us? Nobody else knows about my powers, and I rather keep it that way..."Danny said.

Mei and Martin were quiet, while Suyin spoke.

"Danny, you saved my granddaughter from that awful stain on our family's history. We promise to keep your secret..."Suyin said.

"For real?..."Danny asked.

Despite her shock, Mei nodded.

"Yes, we promise. You did save my daughter and helped us get rid of Wufong. So, I won't say a peep about...uh...whatever it is you and your girlfriend actually are..."Mei said, still confused.

"I'm a halfa...half ghost and half human...and Star is fully human. She only had powers temporarily..."Danny explained.

"I see..."Mei said, still not understanding but didn't want to look foolish again.

"Cool!..."Max said, before grinning. "And don't worry, I won't tell anyone either..."Max said, as he did the "zip it" gesture.

"I won't say anything either..."Martin said, being sincere.

"Well...okay...glad we came to an understanding...and we won't mention the whole "sorcery" thing either..."Danny said, using that as insurance.

"Thank you..."Misty said, knowing that's more than she deserves.

"And if you ever need a sidekick who can use magic, I'm available!..."Max said in excitement.

"Uh..."Danny said, while Mei got upset.

"No way, that's too dangerous, Max!..."Mei said in an overprotective manner.

"Aw, Mom..."Max said, while the others chuckled at this.

"Glad to see things are almost back to normal..."She thought, as one of Danny's friends approached her.

"So...any chance you could fix the Speeder and buff out the dents?..." Tucker asked, gesturing to the damage he caused on the way to save Danny.

Misty glared, unamused by his request.

"I'm a magic user, not a mechanic. You do damage to Danny's parents'... ship thingy, that's your problem..."She said. "Not to mention, I'm exhausted right now and I couldn't cast another big spell even if I wanted to..."She said.

"Worth a shot..." Tucker said with a shrug.

"And speaking of magic..." Star said, recalling more urgent matters.

Misty noticed just what Star was looking at. A certain object in her hands. Misty exhaled through her nose before nodding.

"I'm guessing you want the book, right?..." Misty asked.

"Duh..."Star said, frowning.

"Right now?..."Misty asked, looking worried.

"Well... after all this... I figure it's best to give you a day or two..." Danny said.

"Right... I'm so drained I can't even use a basic spell. That teleport is all I had left in me..." Misty admitted, before letting out a yawn.

"What is this?..."Mei asked, surprised.

"Obviously, this is strike three. Three times magic messed with us...so I think it's best to nip this now before someone accidentally summons an army of dragons next..."Star said, arms crossed.

"I...see..."Mei said, looking unsure right now.

"Do we have to? I think magic is cool!..." Max said.

"At least someone does..." Sam muttered bitterly.

Misty flinched upon hearing that, before lowering her head.

"I'll give it to you... just... let me rest..." Misty said, not wanting to fight anymore.

"Okay. We'll give you until tomorrow...Danny said as he turned his attention to everyone else, but Star seemed upset.

"But Boo?..."Star asked.

"She's not going anywhere, and she did come to her senses and stop Wufong. I think we can at least give her a day to rest..."Danny said.

"Sometimes he's too nice for his own good..."Star thought, before sighing and nodding.

"Let's go..." He said, since he was pretty tired too.

As they walked away, Misty turned her head and saw Danny wrap his arm around Star. For a brief moment, she imagined that was her before shaking her head.

"He loves her... and only her. Not me... I have to accept that..." She thought.

Once they were gone, her family turned to each other.

"Well...I think that maybe we should head inside now. It's getting late and I should get started on dinner..."Mei said.

"I'll help you, Dear..."Suyin said, as they went to the kithen though they also had things to discuss too.

"I'll help too..."Martin said, as he went to help in the kitchen.

That left a tired Misty alone in the living room with her little brother.

"Aww... now that I know you were crushing on Danny Phantom, getting him to be my brother-in-law would have been awesome!..." Max went, almost like a whine.

Misty glared in indignation.

"Really? I give up the first boy I love and NOW someone wants us together WITHOUT an evil or ulterior motive?..." She asked, exasperated.

"I didn't know..." Max said with an innocent shrug.

"UGH! I almost hope I fall into a coma!..." She groaned loudly, as she walked to her room to get sleep.

She would deal with being rid of magic later, she wanted to rest her mind and body right now.

For tomorrow would be the day she gives up magic for good.

3) It be strange.
