When Daniel confronted the old man about his deception and he turned into Adria, Willow was scared. But not as scared as she was when Adria looked right at her.
"What Magic guards you? Your mind is Warded against me. Someone knows things they shouldn't know. What secrets are you hiding from me?"
Willow decided to be bold. Jesse had Warded her mind against intrusion with her permission, for just such a reason, to protect her from beings like Adria.
"My secrets are mine to keep. You and your false gods, can't have them."
"The Ori are the only true gods."
"They're not gods at all. And even gods can die."
"You're not as strong as I am, little one. Sooner or later, I will breach your Wards. You can't keep me out forever."
"I can try. And I can be pretty damn stubborn. Just ask my family." Willow was afraid Adria was right though, that she was stronger. It wouldn't stop Willow from trying though, protecting her family was what was most important, after all.
Later, after the quest had been completed and an actual dragon dealt with, oh boy, were the others going to be jealous when they heard that. She'd seen a real dragon! Once all that had been dealt with and they'd been transported to this new world and were talking to the actual Merlin, himself, a man once know as Moros of Atlantis, an Ascended Ancient, Cam had approached her and asked what Adria had meant.
"What did Adria mean, about you being Warded? What's that?"
"It's a method of protecting one's mind from intrusion. And I'm sorry, I can't tell you anymore than that. For one thing, I don't understand the process myself, for another, it's apart of those Classified things about my friends and I, that you're not cleared to know. I'm sorry."
"No, it's alright. I understand Classified. Just wondering."
When Moros died and merged his mind with Daniel's, in order to allow Daniel to active the small repository and use the knowledge in it, to begin building the Sangraal, Willow was scared again. This was a familiar fear. She felt this whenever her friends went out on an adventure without her. She'd been so excited when Daniel had asked her to join this project, she'd get to have her own adventure. And now they were cut off from Earth and her friends, her family, were the ones afraid for her.
She heard Cam berating Vala, heard him congratulate her, saying she was finally one of the team, because now she understood, it wasn't risking one's own life that was frightening, it was watching your friends, your teammates risk theirs, that was the hard part of this job. He was right, it was the hard part. Willow had been watching people she loved, risk their lives for a decade now. She would continue doing it, for the rest of her life, if she had too. The job was that important.
Seeing Vala looking so sad and lost, moved Willow to go and speak to her. Willow hadn't had a chance to tell Vala how sorry she was for everything that had happened to her. Now was a good time.
"When Daniel first told us what the Ori had done to you, Cordelia said, a child should be a gift, not a nightmare. The Ori took something wonderful from you. Your baby. They had no right."
"She was never mine, I knew that from the beginning. I hadn't done anything that could get me pregnant. I knew it couldn't be a good thing."
Remembering Abigail and how she had come about, Willow knew that wasn't true.
There had been a possibility that Vala's baby was good, could be good. The Ori had taken that from her as well.
"Vala, I have no doubt you could have ended the pregnancy if you'd wanted to. You believed in the potential of that baby. You went to great lengths to protect her, even getting married. You loved that baby and her potential. The Ori, like the Gou'ld, like Qu'tesh, take what they have no right to take. That is why they must be stopped. Why Daniel is so willing to risk so much. And why it hurts so much for you to see him risking everything. You care about him too. And the fight against the Ori may take him from you as well. One more thing, they have no right to take."
"The way the two of you bicker, reminds me Xander and Cordelia. They've been bickering like an old married couple since the day they met. I used to hate the connection they had. I didn't understand it, didn't want to. But they're so happy together. They understand each other, challenge each other. Daniel is afraid to risk his heart because he's lost so much. His parents, his grandfather, his wife, her family, their world. You've lost alot too, just as much as he has. But you risked alot coming to Earth. To see him again, to get to know him. It will take time and patience, but the reward will be worth it. Don't give up, Vala."
Later Adria tracked them down and when Willow saw her reach for the Sangraal, she reacted on instinct and grabbed the device. Daniel attacked Adria and yelled at them to get to the Stargate. They had just reached it when Daniel came flying out of the building, thrown by Adria. She struck out with her power and Daniel deflected it. Sam got the Stargate going and they all raced for it. Daniel was still fighting Adria and Willow yelled at Vala to grab him. She did. They made it back to Earth, all of them and the Sangraal too.
Daniel was protesting, saying he might have been able to stop Adria and Willow had had enough. "Listen, you self-sacrificing idiot. If you think we want to see you die, then grab a gun and shoot yourself. Otherwise, get it though your thick head, people care about you. We have the Sangraal. We'll deal with Adria and the Ori. In the meantime, I suggest calling the Asguard and seeing if they can separate Moros's mind from yours. Now could someone direct me to a phone? I need to call my family and tell them I'm still alive, before they storm the gates of the castle to save me."
