Emily woke up warm and cozy, she couldn't remember where she was when she felt movement and looked down. Jack was sleeping with his head and arms in her lap basically holding her down in his sleep, which was the cutest sight she could have.

She looked around and could see that Hotch was still in the armchair, they had all fallen asleep during the movie, it was still the middle of the night. She should probably wake Hotch and help taking Jack to bed before going home herself.

Emily slowly removed Jack's hands first and then she got up and put a pillow so that she could rest his head on. She walked over to Hotch and squeezed his shoulder to wake him up.

"Aaron? Aaron?" He startled awake and covered the hand on his arm with his.

"Yes? Hi. I'm sorry." He said trying to blink himself awake enough to understand what was going on.

"Aaron it's late, let's put Jack in bed and thenI'm gonna go." Emily said while yawning.

"Emily, you can stay in the guest room."

"Aaron, it's not necessary."

"Emily it's the middle of the night, I don't want to you drive to the other side of town when we have a perfectly good room upstairs." Hotch always had a way of rationalizing his wants that made Emily feel compelled to agree.

"Okay, but let's get Jack in bed." She couldn't see how they would be able to get him upstairs, he was almost the same height as her.

"Jack, son?" Hotch kneels close to the boy and starts rubbing his back so that he can wake him up without startling him.

"Don wanna wake up." The boy's reply comes with him trying to bury his face further into the pillow.

"Let's go sleep in bed, it's late. Come on." He half helps the boy up half carries him up.

"I didn't say bye to Emmy, Daddy." The boy whines not realizing she is right behind Hotch.

"That's okay, come here lay down." Hotch helps the boy in bed and then sits down to tucks his son in, something he hasn't done in a while. "I love you." Hotch mentions for Emily to come in, she had been at the door watching father and son.

"Have sweet dreams Jack." She leans down and kisses the boy head.

"Love you Em." He is mostly asleep as he says it, but Emily's heart feels warm at such a spontaneous show of affection.

"Love you too Jack-Jack." She can see a smile on his face as he stays asleep. "God, how do you deal with such a cuteness?" She whispers to Hotch.

"He is sweet, I'm glad every day that I have him in my life." He whispers back while caressing Jack's head. "But come on, let's put you in bed as well." He says getting up.

"You know you don't have to worry about me, right?" She says after they closed Jack's door.

"I know you can handle yourself Em, that doesn't mean I'll stop worrying." He explained not wanting her to get the idea that he thought she wasn't capable, but just that it was in his nature to worry about the people he cared about.

"Okay, let's go to bed then." Realizing how it sounded she blushed and tried to fix it. "I mean…Well, let me go to the guest room before I make this any more awkward."

Hotch laughed at her while telling her to wait a minute while he went to his room.

"Here, so you can sleep more comfortable." He handed her a pair of his pajamas.

"Thank you, Goodnight Aaron." She said taking the offered clothes and turning to head to the guest bedroom.

"Goodnight, Em."

The next morning Hotch tries his hardest to get his morning routine with Jack as quiet as he can, wanting to let Emily sleep for as long as she can. But it's no use, by the time the coffee is ready, and he is half dressed she walks downstairs.

"Good morning Hotchners." She says as she walks in the Kitchen.

"Emily! You stayed." Jack goes over for a hug just like he did when he was little.

"Hi sweety, how did you sleep?" She asks as they sit down on the table just as Hotch puts a mug of coffee in front of her.

"Good." Jack says already putting his cereal in his bowl.

"Good morning, Em. Anything else besides coffee?" He asks.

"Just coffee, thank you. I need to run home to get ready for work, JJ texted me that she needs to talk to me." She explains.

"That's okay, we already have another case. We are leaving for St. Luis as soon as I can talk to Garcia to check the case and brief everyone."

When Emily is finished and starts putting her jacket to go Jack comes over to the door where she is.

"Em, you are going to come over again, right? You aren't going to move away or stay away for a long time?" The boy asks with clear worry in his face.

"I can't promise that I'll be here for dinner every week, you know how work can be." Emily didn't want to give the boy false hopes, she would never do that with her child or any other. "But I can promise to be here as much as I can, and that if we can't be in the same place, I'll call so that we can catch up. At least once a week, okay?"

"Okay, and If you are around, you will come over, right?" He inquires.

"Yes, I'll always come if you want or need me, okay? You just have to ask."

"Promise?"

"Promise."

Emily was able to get in before the morning rush when the BAU stopped to brief new cases, that way she would be able to talk to JJ without disrupting their schedule. She called JJ to one of the meeting offices close to Garcia's so that they could speak privately.

"Hey…Are you okay?" Emily could tell as soon as she entered the office that JJ looked very scared.

"Emily, I swear I didn't do it on purpose."

"What are you talking about?" Emily questioned.

"Assistant Director Barnes called me yesterday, in her office, after we talked. First, she started asking about cases, and things from the past of the BAU. And I didn't question her motivation. But suddenly she was taking wrong conclusions from what I mentioned about when you almost quit the FBI, and when the Doyle happened." JJ spoke fast as if she couldn't handle holding all her thoughts inside her head anymore.

"Okay…"

"And then she mentioned that there was an investigation against you, that the director wanted to make sure you were terminated for good from working on any and every agency in and outside the country." Tears fell from JJs eyes. "And all I said she was distorting to make it seem like you weren't just a rogue agent but actually one with a vendetta against the Bureau."

At that moment Emily understood where exactly the pieces of the puzzle had fallen, and that she had taken too long to put it together.

"Has she made any specific threats?" Emily questioned. "Against you or the team?" Emily voice sounded hard to her own ears, but her training always made her seem harsher when her anxiety spiked. A response to equalize the effects that she would have otherwise.

"What? No, Emily she is coming after you. She said the FBI is ready to charge you with Stephen's death and several other criminal offenses done on active duty."

Emily eyes unfocused while she thought of the next steps she needed to take. Hotch and Rossi, like her, knew about some of what was happening. But they didn't know the dept or how far the investigation had gone. She needed to warn them before it hit the fan.

"It's okay JJ. Excuse me." Emily opened the door and walked out.

"Emily?" JJ called after her, but Emily kept walking.

She went straight to Hotch's office, noticing he was alone in the office she didn't stop to knock going inside and closing it behind her.

"Barnes is coming to firing me today, possibly in the next hour. I need you to make sure the team is kept away from any charges or suspensions. Specially Spencer. Understood?"

"What? Emily." She cut him off before he could say anything else.

"I need you to promise not to say anything right now, I need you to keep the team shielded, I'll handle the rest, but I need you to keep the team handled and quiet so that no further actions are taken against them okay. Do you understand?" She knew she was being cold, but that was all she was able to handle it right now.

"Yes, I understand. But Emily…" The door opens before either of them could react and a woman stays at the door.

"Agent Prentiss, I need you to come outside." Emily understands this was probably Linda Barnes.

Emily walked out as requested, she knew it was a spectacle that Barnes was after. She wanted to do this publicly to humiliate her, and possibly get a reaction that reaffirms Emily's incorrect behaviors that Barnes wanted to prove.

"Ma'am?" Emily leaves the office and goes with Barnes to the middle of the bullpen.

"Agent Prentiss you are being permanently terminated from the FBI effective immediately, the Bureau will be charging you with misconduct on Agent Walker's death as well as other criminal actions that have been confirmed."

"WHAT? You can't…" Reid couldn't even finish his phrase before Hotch interrupted.

"Agent Reid."

"Hotch!" He turned his angry face to Hotch like he wanted to continue.

"Agent Reid, my office." Hotch says giving no room for argument. Reid doesn't move, but he stops any further protest.

"I'm going to unholster my weapon now and put it on the table in front of me." Emily says steadily and announcing all of her movements so that everything happens as smooth as it could. She put her gun in Luke's desk, the closest one to her. "My purse is in Agent Jareau's desk with my credentials, is it okay if I get it?" She could see that Rossi had left his office and was watching intently the scene, just like every other agent that was in the office.

"That is okay." Barnes replied, clearly taken back by the Emily's reaction.

Emily walks to her purse, gets her credentials and puts them with her gun, she wouldn't give Barnes the pleasure of handing it over, or even risk it as the woman could accuse her of acting hostile.

"If that is all ma'am." Emily asks the other woman coolly.

"That's all."

Emily turns around and walks out of the bullpen for the last time.
