Chapter 3: Prologue Part 3
—YEAR 412K—
*slap*
Was the sound of a book coming to a close, said book being placed on a shelf among others with different languages on the sides of them.
"Sky God Tongue, to think out of all the languages I would have the most difficulty in trying to perfect it." Muttered the cat-eared pre-teen.
"Compared to Human Tongue which resembles the closest to my past life's language, Sky God and Ocean God are tricky to fully grasp, and I thought Demon God was a challenge." Thought the now ten-year-old, in but five years the one called Gādian has gone through many changes to the point that adults and children now see him differently. One fact is his ability to grasp new things as if he were an adult in a child's body. In no time, he grasped the human tongue and could speak it quite fluently, better than even the adults while in turn the way of the sword, he grew exponentially, able to win against even a number of the adults but Gyes and the Doldia Village leader, Gustav who was Gyes father yet over the years he came to find out he could not utilize voice magic due to his lineage of being a Hybrid.
As of right now, he now wore his long hair in a ponytail along with looking closer to Ghislaine and in turn having feminine facial features, his eyes tho despite it being green the left had changed, over the years it was turning from green to a light shade of blue. His clothing tho, was an odd choice when compared to other members of the tribe, despite the pants originating from their tribe his shirt was more reminiscent of a kimono's upper garment but wore no shirt underneath it.
(Learned something new?)
He looks to his left, finding Leo walking into his room before jumping on his bed, the sight gaining an annoyed look on his face.
"Get off my bed." This got a 'woof' in response as the Sacred Beast starts rolling in his bed.
(Don't have to, I'm the Sacred Beast and can sleep in your bed whenever I want. I could also mark my territory on your bed.)
"Do you want me to give you a haircut?" That question gained an immediate whine from Leo who jumps off his bed while Madara sits down on a nearby chair at his desk, took a nearby book on it, and opens it to look over the contents inside.
"Sword God Style, North God Style, and Water God Style." He began while Leo tilts its head. "I've been gaining more knowledge from these books Gyes gave me but without a Sensei to teach me these arts, I won't fully grasp them. Tho the result of these three, if they fight, remains the same. Sword God Style practitioners find it difficult to fight a Water God Style practitioner, adept at defense and countering. While the Sword God style can overwhelm the North God Style as they mostly rely on the environment to fight. All three have their uses but so far North God appears to be the most lacking from what I could gather from the books." As he spoke, he glanced at Leo who tilts his head.
"What would happen if I were to reach the level of Sword God and Water God in the way of the sword?" At that point, Leo stuck out his tongue.
(Who are you trying to fight, a literal God?)
"Perhaps…" As he said those words, Leo stared at him and woofed before the two heard footsteps and turn at the sight of a cat-eared girl entering with a smile, immediately hugging Leo much to his enjoyment as the Beast falls from.
(I love cuddles!)
This merely got a sigh from Madara who looks out the window.
"Linia, remember what your dad told you about hugging the Sacred Beast." This immediately got her attention, appearing to pout with her cheeks puffed out and looking at him annoyingly.
(Silence you fool, don't end my cuddles!)
"But Big Brother Gādian, you always get to play with the Sacred Beast, mew!" She accuses, pointing at him yet he just turns towards her while laying on the beast that seemed to be glaring at him.
"It's not playing, he just follows me around. Besides, why do you insist on calling me brother when I'm just your cousin." He told her yet got the reaction of annoyance as she was now glaring at him, leading the teen to look away at the awkward tension.
"But that's not what dad says, he said you're like his son, mew." This got the reaction of surprise yet he just looks away and in turn causes her to look down sadly before they heard footsteps and all of a sudden, entering the room was one excited girl.
"GĀDIAN, I CHALLENGE YOU!" Shīrudo shouted, like him she too has gone through a change. She cut her spiky hair short to not get in the way of fighting while her common tribal clothing consisted of wrappings around her arms. The most noticeable thing about her was that despite her age, she already showed signs of muscle growth while her facial features now had a feminine look to it but still resembled somewhat of a boy with her hair also giving that impression.
"Again?" He, Linia, and Leo tho he just woofs in response as it stuck its tongue out.
"Yes!"
"We just had a spar this morning."
"Yes!"
"You know it won't make a difference…"
"Ye-no, I mean!" She shakes her head, tail wagging, and raises a fist with her smile reappearing. "Let's spar already!"
This merely got her childhood friend to use his hand as a headrest.
"I rather focus on my studies," He reaches out and picks up a book. "Such as achieving the ability to wield magic fully, books can only do so much but…"
He begins to open the book while Shīrudo looks very annoyed as her eyes narrow towards him until they widen upon seeing his left-hand spark with a ball of fire yet as soon as it appears it was extinguished much to Madara's annoyance yet Linia and Shīrudo were staring at him awestruck.
"How did you do that?!"
"Big brother, Gādian, that was amazing, mew!"
"It's simple magic tho I was trying it out without an incantation yet the results appear to be the same." He looks out the window in annoyance, obviously due to the frown stuck on his face.
"Could it be I appear to not have talent with magic as I would have liked, tho it could be I'm still too young but so far using incantations and not doesn't seem to have any difference yet that feeling, the moment I try using magic it feels like it goes somewhere else…? But it appears it's somewhat similar to Chakra." He frowns at his thoughts.
(You think too much.)
When he heard that, he turns and immediately has a blank stare at the sight of Linia and Shīrudo cuddling Leo who almost appeared to be smiling.
(Don't be jelly that Shīrudo isn't cuddling you.)
He just stares at the Sacred Beast, and for almost a split second his eye twitched while both girls spoke.
"Did you brush his hair today, Linia?"
"Yeah, mew. His hair started getting curled up and I wanted to straighten it."
And with that, Shīrudo hugs the Sacred Beast, cuddling its fluffiness much to the enjoyment of the beast while Linia did the same.
"Ever since he started hanging around Gādian, we got to secretly pet the Sacred Beast!"
"Yeah, if not for Big Brother being able to translate, no one would have known he loves being brushed and cuddled tho we aren't allowed to do the latter."
As they spoke, the beast just stared at Madara with the same expression while its tongue was out yet its words gave way to its real thoughts.
(The ladies love the fur!)
Madara just stares at the scene, unresponsive until the beast spoke again, this time causing the young one to go wide-eyed.
(So gave any thought to her becoming your mate later on?)
"What?" Madara frowns again and looks away. "We are still young, and thinking of something like that now has no interest to me, I rather focus my time on study and training, we don't know when the next attack will come to kidnap our people like the last few times. I must become far stronger, knowing my previous world will help me do so."
(Study this and train that, don't forget this isn't your world anymore. You shouldn't always be on guard, you should enjoy the life of having a childhood, and out of everyone, you seem closest to her, ever since she stopped those bullies. Plus unlike your world, the rules are very different here. I'm not saying now, I'm saying just consider her as a potential mate later on when you two become older.)
In response, Madara stood up gaining the two girls' attention.
"I'm gonna go find Gyes for some training." He proceeds to walk past the three before Shīrudo stood up.
"But why not train with me, Gādian?" She points at her chest with a smile. "That way we—" The four turn towards the opening upon hearing footsteps.
"Shīrudo, mom—" Walking in was a girl with dog features, an Adoldia just like the girl near Madara yet unlike her, this girl appears to be snacking on some meat until she came upon the sight of Madara and froze, eyes widening and immediately hides the food behind herself with a look of embarrassment, more so when Shīrudo approached her and pokes the girl in her cheek.
"Pursena, what has Dad told you about snacking." She said with an obvious smile of blackmail.
"N-Not to do so." She said, glancing up at the second oldest in the room before she looks down at her feet. "You forgot to help mom with the fruit pickings, she doesn't look happy that you skipped."
This caused her eyes to widen before a defeated look appeared on her face. Ears dropped along with her tail, the sight causing Madara to form a smirk which Shīrudo took notice of and immediately got in front of him, poking the older one in the chest.
"I see that smirk, is it really that amusing?"
"I said no such thing."
Despite saying that, he was avoiding her gaze that seemed to pierce into his soul if he made eye contact, her gaze intensifying and in turn making him look more awkward. In the end, she sighs while slumping.
"Whatever, I'll grill you later on it once I'm done." With that said she suddenly turns away, facing her younger sister. "Let's go, Pursena." With that said, she walks past her and hurried with the younger one turning to see Madara smirking which in turn caused her to immediately hurry after her sister, meat in hand.
With this sight, Linia just sighs.
"Pursena needs to stop snacking all the time or else the others won't stop calling her fat, mew—ow!" She turns, holding the top of her head while he was looking down at her. "Big Brother Gādian, what was that for, mew?!"
"Don't talk behind others' backs, or else I'll tell your dad you've been sneaking in cuddles." He told the girl who looked guilty and turns to Leo for help.
(Oh I see, you were never interested in Shīrudo, you've set your sights on her younger sister. It makes sense now that I think about it but gotta say, I-why are you picking up those scissors?)
He said nothing while picking them up, giving a few snips.
(Madara talk to me, why are you picking those up I was just joking.)
Slowly, Leo starts to back up which confuses Linia to see the fearful look on the Beast's face.
(I think it's time for a haircut.)
In no time flat, Leo immediately got the hell out of there with his tail between his legs, yelping and whining which left Linia by herself with the older one just sighing and placing it back on his desk before he looks out the window to see Shīrudo hurrying towards her mother's location with Pursena following behind, once again snacking on her piece of meat.
—FLASHBACK, YEAR K407/5 YEARS AGO—
"Say something." A shove was given to Madara, he found himself backed into a corner by a group of kids, Dedoldia and Adoldia were the respective ones that stood in front of him. Due to the recent attacks that had taken place, it was decided that both Tribes, the Dedoldia and Aldoldia would live in the same village for a number of years until something can be planned on dealing with the kidnappings.
"My dad told me you mother was a monster that the village couldn't handle." Spoke the one with cat like features, smiling confidently at the boy who seemed disinterested much to his annoyance.
"Hey, aren't you listening?" He grabs him by his hair yet he doesn't resist. "Why are you ignoring me, you freak! You don't even have a tail!"
"My mom said she didn't even try to understand Beast God, she just growled and got into fights, not even Gyes and the village head could control her."
"I heard that his mom got kidnapped and became a slave to some human, she said that's why he doesn't have a tail."
"Oh so he's a freak!"
"Freak!"
"Freak!"
As they continued to shout those words, slowly his eyes narrowed and her forming as he hair continued to get pulled.
"Let go." Those two words shrouded them yet the leader just laughs.
"Or what you—" He froze, the moment the kid looked up and their eyes met, the kid was met with the eyes that don't belong to children resulting in the kid shaking confused some of them until they heard it.
"WHAT'S GOING ON!" That shout caused the group of kids to turn towards one silver-haired girl, arms crossed and glaring at them all before she marches up to their leader.
"Shīrudo—" They all just stare at her straight up punching the kid in the face, sending him to the ground.
"I HATE BULLIES!" She gets on top of their leader who tried to explain but ends up being repeatedly punched much to the horror of the kids who start to scatter before their leader did the same tearfully with bruises on his face, leaving behind the bully beater who had her arms crossed and breathing out of her nose deeply, appearing to calm herself while being stared at by Madara before she abruptly turns to face him and approached, standing before him with the same expression before all of a sudden a smile forms on her face.
"I'm Shīrudo, wanna be friends?"
—FLASHBACK END—
(It's a nice sunset, why don't you enjoy it?)
"No need, I just need to rest."
(But you never get such a clear sky at this time of day.)
"I don't care."
It was already sunset, leaving the sky baked in an orange tinge to be seen all across the sky. Madara, who was walking upon the wooden platforms up several steps to his home, had his attention on the sky.
"Reminds me of the time I and Hashirama watched the sunset…" As he thought that, he continued walking up the steps until he heard Leo again.
(Madara, don't come up the stairs.)
When he heard that, surprise formed on his face and he came to a halt.
"Why, you've been trying hard to stop me from going home today, did something happen?"
(Don't come upstairs, if you value this second chance at life.)
It was when he heard that, Madara's eyes widen as he took notice of the voices at the top.
"Why, did something—" He stops, a certain scent he caught with his eyes slowly widening.
"Blood…" It was at that point he could feel something grasping his insides as he slowly made his way up.
(Madara~~)
Leo was all but ignored as he made his way up to hear talking.
"I've already sent word to the Aldoldia Village head, he should be here soon."
"Father, we must take action now and if he finds out the Smugglers—" All talk ended upon the arrival of the Son of Ghislaine, Gādian who reached the top as he saw Gyes turn to him, along with one of the Village Heads, Gustav along with a few warriors as well as Leo who appeared to be upset as he hid his face behind his paws.
"Gādian, your home early—" He stops upon seeing the emotionless look on his face as his eyes were glued on something behind Gyes, a few blankets were stacked in a row and appeared to be covering individuals, yet one of them he recognized the scent.
"Gādian—" He tried to say yet he was ignored as the younger one made his way to one of the blankets, only for Gustav to stand in the way while Gyes places a hand on his shoulder.
"It's best you not look." Yet it fell on deaf ears as he shrugged off his shoulder and pushed past the head, bending down he places a hand on the blanket yet freezes.
[We're Shinobi, we never know when we might die.]
Slowly he lifts the blanket, his expression remaining emotionless yet his eyes merely widen.
[I'm Shīrudo, wanna be friends?]
Gyes could only look away at the scene, not watching as he reached out to touch the face of the one behind the blanket. When he pulls back, he found blood on his hand that he just stares at it before looking up. All he saw was the corpse of his closest friend, a deep stab wound in her chest while covered in lots of blood.
"Chief, we need to hurry now." Gyes said, trying to regain his composure while Gustav was staring at the back of his grandson. "We must act now and save—" At that moment, he finally spoke.
"How did this happen?"
He turns to his nephew who stood up after pulling the blanket back over her, his back still facing them while he appeared to be staring at his hand that was covered in blood.
"Smugglers," Gustav began, gaining Gyes attention to see the seriousness on his face. "They attacked while they were picking fruit, she died along with her mother trying to protect her sister who was taken along with several children."
"Gādian, this doesn't involve—" He stops upon hearing it, a growl. He along with the village head and a few warriors turn to the Sacred Beast and were left shocked upon the sight of Leo baring his teeth in anger, his form shifting as it grew to the height of an adult while looking more ferocious, leaving those shocked at such a sight.
"Where were they taken?" At that point, Gyes turns to him to see his blood-covered hand turning into a fist.
"Gādian, go back to the house. I'll gather—" He and Gustav could not speak the moment he turned around to reveal his left eye, a trail of blood came from it while the eye itself had changed to reveal two rings around the pupil with three tomoes on each ring.
"Shut up!" His words was followed by a cold chill that took him and the others by surprise, the coldness in his eyes said it all while Leo got next to him and he jumps upon its back.
"Leo, find them!" He told the beast who turns towards the bodies, sadness could be seen in its eyes before anger took its place as it directed its gaze in one direction.
"GĀDIAN!" Gyes shouted as he ran up to Leo and himself. "Wait, if you go it will be dangerous, at least—"
"You'll only slow me down." Was the single reply he was given as the Sacred Beast took off, jumping to a nearby tree where it jumps to the next and the next by the side of the tree, leaving the warriors in shock.
"It was said, together with the Sacred Beast and his partner." Began Gustav, gaining Gyes attention to see the man simply watching from where he stood, a determined look on his face. "They will become the saviors that the Dedoldia Tribe was waiting for."
"But he's just—"
"You've raised him since he was a baby, are you telling me you don't have faith in him yet?" His words hit their mark. "From what I can see, he is already stronger than you."
It was with those words, Gyes could only turn to look at the covered corpses before turning to where they left.
"Gādian…"
—LOCATION: SMUGGLERS DEN—
The bandits moved throughout the hideout, throwing crying Beastfolk children in cells after arriving with them while feeding others they have captured, looks of despair and hopelessness on their faces. Among the men sat one of them, Gallus Cleaner the North Saint who directs his gaze towards one bandit who approached him.
"What newbie?"
"Boss, I wanted to ask you something?" This got a raised eyebrow and watched him point to a certain cell. "are we selling her?"
That single question got a snort from the man.
"No, we're not. In case they didn't tell you she's off limits, touch a single hair on her head you work live to see tomorrow." His gaze turns cold as ice, causing him to freeze. "So don't even think of trying anything on her. I'm merely holding onto her until a certain someone answers my little letter or I find a buyer that's willing to have her, she's the key to us making quite the payday so she must be left perfectly fine, it's funny that she was left unattended, even tho she's 'his' daughter." As he said it, he glances at the certain cell in question where a lone girl sat chained, wearing nothing but rags while her dark blue hair was messy.
