On the way to the Great Plateau, Midna was telling more about the shadow beings of both sides to the others so they would know what to expect.
"The shadow beings on Father's side are tough but not invincible," explained Midna, "Their power is stronger than the power of those on our side because Father grants them the power personally."
"What about Thorin himself," asked Cynthia.
"Father has power far beyond his minions," explained Midna, "Add that to what King Link taught him, and he'll be a fierce opponent."
"That makes sense," said Felix, "By the way, are we almost at the Great Plateau?"
"It won't be far now," answered Zelda, "I suggest we stay here for a while and wait for the other armies." "We could use a break after that last battle anyway."
The armies that were present all heard the plan and as suggested, they set up a temporary camp in order to wait for their allies. During that time, Felix, Cynthia, Saima, Feray, Haru, Haukea and Midna were by a fire conversing.
"Mind if I ask why Cullen is the sub commander of the shadow beings on our side Midna," asked Feray.
"Well Cullen is the son of one of my father's most loyal followers from the rebellion," explained Midna, "Like me, he was against it all and after the rebellion failed, he also lived in Tarrey Town but all alone because both his parents were arrested." "Not long after I met him afterwards, we got along well and even started dating." "Once Father was freed and turned his followers and their families into shadow beings, Cullen and I gathered all of those who wanted to stop him until we gained our part of the army you see now with me being the leader and Cullen second in command."
"You must have gone through a lot Midna," said Saima.
"Do you think if Thorin is defeated then we could return the shadow beings to their original forms," asked Haukea.
"I don't really know," answered Midna, "But we should focus on saving Hyrule first."
"Well I don't know about you but I think we should find out if the Gorons, Rito, Zora, Gerudo and remaining Hylian armies are here yet," said Haru.
The seven of them were about to go and do what Haru suggested when Cynthia grabbed Felix by the arm.
"Is something wrong Cynthia," asked Felix.
"Well there's something I want to talk about before we go into this battle," said Cynthia, "I have some bad feelings that not everyone will survive this and I want to expect the worst."
Cynthia then got a hold of Felix's hands and kneeled in front of him.
"Felix," started Cynthia, "I know we just became a couple and we haven't done much as one yet." "But after everything that has happened since the Yiga attack, I feel like I should do this now." "So I ask you Felix, if we both survive this battle, will you marry me?"
"Cynthia," asked Felix in shock, "Are you sure about this?"
"My father is dead," explained Cynthia, "And I fear that Hyrule will deeply need me after all this." "I also worry about both our safety and Mother's."
"I see," said Felix, "Then in that case, when this is over and things calm down, I will marry you."
"Thank you Felix," thanked Cynthia before kissing Felix.
"I see you both are doing well," said Zelda to the couple as she walked over to them after the kiss broke, "It gladdens me to know of your engagement during this time."
"Is there a reason you came over Queen Zelda," asked Felix.
"The other armies are here," answered Zelda, "I figured that this would be happening while everyone else was checking on them so I decided to inform you." "By the way Felix, you can just call me Zelda now that you'll be joining the family."
After Zelda told Felix and Cynthia about the other armies, the three of them joined with the others to discuss about the battle.
"Now that everyone is here," said Zelda, "We should get to the Great Plateau right away, "If we go in now through the secret entrance, the enemy should be surprised by our attack which could give us an advantage." "Above all else, we should make sure that Felix, Cynthia, Midna and the ones powered by the dragon parts face Thorin so the rest of us will protect them until they make it to him."
After Zelda revealed the strategy, all of the armies charged right away to the secret entrance. By the time they got on the Great Plateau, enemy shadow beings noticed them and went on the offensive. The battle then started with Hyrule's armies taking on a bunch of shadow beings.
"I never thought Thorin had this many followers," said Felix while taking down one of the shadow beings, "There seem to be more on his side than ours."
"It's not just them but also the Yiga Clan survivors," reminded Cynthia while also fighting a shadow being, "I can also see more monsters coming at us."
"Don't worry about the monsters," said Midna after defeating a Lizalfos, "They're not as strong as the ones who guarded the dragon parts." "We should focus on finding my father." "Knowing him as he is now, he should be at the Temple of Time."
"Then let's tell the others and make sure they get us there," said Felix.
After being informed about Thorin's location the armies of Hyrule focused their attention on reaching the Temple of Time. As they got closer, the shadow beings and monsters fought more fiercely which made many stay behind to fend off their enemies until it was just Felix, Cynthia, Feray, Haru, Saima, Haukea, Midna, Cullen and Zelda. By the time they approached the Temple of Time, they all noticed two shadow beings guarding the entrance.
"I know them," said Midna, "It's my mother and Cullen's father, "I'd expect them to be stronger than the others next to Father."
"I'll handle this," said Cullen, "I'd like to settle things with Father and I'll gladly do the same with your mother in your stead Midna."
"Thanks Cullen," thanked Midna while hugging Cullen.
Cullen then went to fight the two foes alone while Felix, Cynthia, Zelda, Midna, Haukea, Feray, Haru and Saima went into the temple during the distraction. Once they got in, they saw Thorin all alone.
"So you made it here," said Thorin, "I am impressed that you got through my forces but you're all only making it so I will kill you all."
"Stop this Father," said Midna to Thorin, "This is all wrong." "Why do you want Hyrule ruined again?"
"Midna," asked Thorin in surprise, "You dare betray me?" "So it was you leading the traitors.
"I was never on your side," admitted Midna, "I didn't even want to become a shadow being but I'm not going to let you get what you want." "Especially since that power made things worse for you."
"Worse," asked Thorin, "With this power, I can do what I couldn't ten years ago."
"It will take more than that to destroy my kingdom," said Zelda, "Hyrule is much stronger than it was during the Great Calamity."
"Hmph," said Thorin, "I'll show you, Zelda." "Take this."
Thorin then blasted a shadow beam at Zelda only for Felix to get in front, draw the Master Sword and use it to destroy the beam.
"The Master Sword," asked Thorin in shock, "That's impossible." "How can you wield it?"
"Because I have the same type of spirit as Link," revealed Felix. "Now get ready Thorin because this ends now."
The fight then started with Saima, Haru, Feray and Haukea using their powers on Thorin which ended up hurting him a bit but he quickly recovered right after. Thorin then drew a sword made of shadows and retaliated against the four of them.
"I think not," said Cynthia while making a blade of light and clashing it against the shadow sword.
Felix then charged at Thorin and attempted to slash the Master Sword at him only for Thorin to notice quickly and block the attack with another shadow sword. Noticing the chance, Midna unleashed her own shadow beam at Thorin which pushed him down while dropping the shadow swords. Once Thorin was on the ground all of his enemies were about to attack in unison when Thorin caused a shadowy explosion which ended up hurting everyone.
"Nice try," said Thorin, "But my power is superior. "It won't be taken down that easily."
Thorin was then about to unleash another shadow beam at his seemingly defeated foes. Before he could launch it however, Zelda managed to get up and quickly attack Thorin by grabbing hold of him which stopped the beam.
"What do you think you're doing," Thorin asked Zelda while struggling.
"After Calamity Ganon and Demon King Ganondorf, I'm never letting Hyrule get harmed again," shouted Zelda, "Everyone, try again and attack Thorin."
"But Mother, if we do that while you're holding on to him, you'll die," said Cynthia while she and the others were getting up.
"It doesn't matter," said Zelda, "The fate of Hyrule is more important than mine." "I entrust the kingdom and its people to you now Cynthia." "Just know that I wish for your happiness to surpass my own."
Cynthia, Feray, Haru, Saima, Haukea and Midna then launched their united power at Thorin and Zelda with awful feelings and right after, Felix went to Thorin and stabbed him with the Master Sword.
"No," said Thorin while dying, "This wasn't supposed to happen, "Curse you all."
Right after Thorin died, Felix and Cynthia went to check on Zelda who they noticed was barely alive.
"You all did well," said Zelda, "I am proud to die knowing that Hyrule will be safe." "Now I can join Link and we'll watch over you all." "Good luck Cynthia."
Zelda then died with a smile on her face and Cynthia started crying while Felix hugged her for comfort.
"We should see how everyone is doing now," said Midna, "Now that Father is dead, his followers should surrender."
The seven heroes then went out of the Temple of Time and noticed right away that the battle ended. After that, they went to the armies of Hyrule to check on casualties, gather the captured enemies and tell everyone what happened.
