A.N. I do not own Inuyasha or Doctor Who. Thanks to anyone still reading! I know my updates are sporadic.
Clinking of glasses, low chatter, and sounds of socializing filled the restaurant. Air cooled by integrated AC made goosebumps rise on Kagome's skin. It was like another world here. Donna looked comfortable as ever, perusing the menu. "How do you do it?"
Pausing and setting the menu flat on the table, she tilted her head. "Hm? What do you mean?"
Glancing down at her own menu, Kagome shrugged. "I've dragged you everywhere… India, the Galapagos, Haiti, Chile, Brazil, Cuba, Mexico, and now the U.S. We have stayed in luxury, in hovels, been tourists and unwelcome visitors… You just adjust. Three nights ago we were camping in the desert and now we're looking at menus in a restaurant that feels like an ice box and everywhere, you seem at home."
Blinking, Donna looked at her curiously. "So do you. I thought this whole time it seemed you were the one at ease. You're level, steady. You take cues on how to behave and you have no fear. I feel at home, because we're together. I left the UK to take a holiday, thinking I'd be gone a month or two and we've been going strong for nearly a year now. You didn't even blink when I told you I should go home because of funds, you just took me along anyway. Even though I know you're holding out on me, I feel close to you."
Looking thoughtful, Kagome bit her lip. "You're holding out too… but I feel the same. I do not know how much longer I should put off going home, but also, home is with you."
Beaming, Donna raised her glass. "Cheers."
