WOW! I HAVE NO IDEA HOW I MANAGED TO WRITE THIS ONE UP, GENTS!

Alrighty, this is a mighty big surprise for me. I usually hope between writing chapters for this story and my other Dark Souls one and it usually take me a while to get it just right. But I don't know if the god of FanFic's decided to bless me with inspiration, but I'll be damned if this the words just rolled out of the old noggin this time.

I was going to add a great deal more as I was REALLY getting into it, but I'm being sent off on a military training event tomorrow, so it was either wrap things up or not being able to work on things for about a month. ;-;

But holy moly, this came out amazing and I am usually TERRIBLE at getting the train of thought for a chapter started. (Seriously, I'm shocked I managed to get this together only two days after updating my other story.)

But enough bragging out of me. Enjoy the newest addition to the story guys. :)

Warning: Mind your step! This area is currently swept up in otherworldly fantasies reserved for gods. Prepare for spontaneous giggles, unexpected lovestruck stares, and soaring butterflies. Mortals may find their hearts skipping beats. Keep your composure, unless you're open to moonlit musings and long-term commitments to roaming gods such as Gwynevere, Cthulhu and the Flying Spaghetti monster.

The icy fingers of night slithered through the air, a soothing balm after a draining day filled with scorching heat and relentless sunlight. Beneath its chill blanket, everything seemed to exhale in the peaceful quiet.

Velka was in a peaceful trance within the confines of her chamber. Her wings were tucked snugly at her back, her eyes closed and calm, and her breath soft and steady. All of her stress had melting away, allowing her to commune with an inner stillness.

Her work for the day had been completed, many of which was very routine and uneventful. Though her official duty delt in the hunting of those who posed a threat to the city and royal family, during times of peace such as this, the might of Goddess of Sin was rarely required.

Which as something Velka took as a good thing. With peace now reigning in the kingdom, she was grateful that her assistance as the Goddess of Sin wasn't needed.

But even still, she remained vigilant, constantly training and honing her skills with ferocious intensity, as well as studying reports and documents of potential threats that could arise amongst the population. All too often her desk became piled high with paperwork detailing individuals that may require her attention in the future.

The day was softly drawing to a close, leaving behind a contentment in her heart that she'd made it a productive one. With the tasks of the day accomplished, she settled into meditation - an act that had become as natural and habitual as breathing for her. The soothing embrace of silence brought tranquility and respite from the busyness of her life.

But then, a knock at the door pierced the silence.

Opening her eye's, she looked up at her door curiously, wondering who it was that had come to her chambers at this hour of the night.

She rose with an elegant poise, her wings fluttering at her back, and went to the door. She opened it curiously, and there stood Kaylen, the human man with whom she was all too familiar. His presence brought a frown to her lips.

"And why the hell are you here?." she said rudely.

He smiled, a smirk that spoke of more than mere amusement. He stepped across the door threshold and into her space, his eyes lingering in her own. He responded with a voice that was sweetly seductive. "You already know why I'm here."

At this, Velka stood still with a look of clear surprise, rooted in place by his words. Before she could overcome her surprise at the suggestive tone in his voice, Kaylen had already walked into her room and shut the door behind him. Velka was too stunned to say anything, her mind racing as her cheeks flushed with a mixture of anger, confusion, and something else she could not put her finger on.

"W-What?" She tried to step away, but he followed, moving closer until their bodies were almost touching; Velka felt the heat radiating off of him. He refused to break eye contact as he reached out and placed his hand on her cheek. His touch was gentle yet firm, full of desire and longing.

"I—," Velka began, trying to form a threat or an insult that could send him on his way. Her voice came out wavering, the shock of it all still having a hold on her. "A-Are you stupid? Did you suddenly develop a death wish? I have the power to rip you in halve, should I choose."

Kaylen smiled softly, not in mockery but with admiration. He leaned in slowly towards her, his lips dangerously close to hers. "You could, but you won't."

At once, Velka felt her heart beat faster, and her mouth go dry in disbelief. She tried to speak, but any threats she could think of suddenly seemed to slip away from her. In that moment, all she could feel was the heat radiating off of him and an inexplicable longing within her own body.

Kaylen leaned in even closer and paused mere inches from her lips, their gazes locked together for what seemed like an eternity before he at last he tenderly brushed his lips against hers and then...

...Velka's eyes snapped open as if they'd been jolted awake by an electric shock. There she lay in bed, her breath coming out ragged and unsteady, her heart hammered within her chest.

A dream. It was simply a dream. A dream with him and her?!

Why was it so vivid? His fingers intertwined with hers, his voice echoing in her ear, their mouths merging in a passionate kiss that left Velka's cheeks flushed like rose petals.

Her skin felt like it was on fire and she could still feel the warmth of his strong embrace pressing into her body. It was as if he had been lying there in bed with her the entire time, his breath tickling her neck. The emotions that rose within Velka were overwhelming and unfamiliar to her.

She tossed and turned restlessly trying to forget it but each time she closed her eyes, the dream returned stronger than before, searing itself into her the forefront of her thoughts.

The more she fought against it, the more engrained the memory became within her mind until finally she couldn't take it anymore. Throwing off her covers and bolting from her room, Velka scarcely had time to grab a black robe and fuzzy slippers as she ran from the shadows of her bed and the dream.

Velka zipped through the castle like a hummingbird on speed, chanting "Nope, nope, no, no, uh-uh, no" over and over again. Her mind was doing calisthenics with visions of Kaylen that she just couldn't accept - not in a million years. She'd rather battle ten dragons back to back before admitting what her subconscious had conjured up.

In a complete daze, Velka made her way through the castle corridors. After what felt like hours, or perhaps it was only minutes or even seconds, Velka finally reached the door of to the one place she could think to go to for aid.

"Come in." Ciaran called out from the other side of the door before Velka could even knock. The Lord's Blade was already up and seemingly putting on her own white robe.

The moment she stepped inside his room, Ciaran could tell something wasn't right. But even still, she maintained an air of casual calm.

"It's a bit late in the night to be making such fuss storming around with those wings, you know." Ciaran said with a small yawn, her keen senses more than capable of recognizing the sound of Velka's approach long before she reached her door. "Knocking on the door is a bit redundant when you make yourself so noticeable."

"I have a problem...and I need you to promise me won't laugh when I tell it to you." Velka said plainly as she took a seat upon the queen sized bed within the room, causing Ciaran to pause for a moment in thought before an impish smile of amusement made it's way onto her lips.

"Very well." Ciaran said, almost immediately figuring out what, or rather who, this must be about.

"I mean it, Ciaran. I don't want to hear a chuckle, or a teasing remark, or...or..." Velka's voice trails off and she pauses for a moment and really listens to herself. Ciaran could only raise a curious eyebrow as she watched Velka's relax with a sigh and she placed her head in her hands. "I sound like a complete child."

"Heh, heh, well, you're certainly acting a bit out of character." Ciaran chuckled lightly despite herself. "Shall I go ahead and assume this surprise nightly visit is regarding our dear little human?"

Velka grimaced at the mere mention of Kaylen's person.

"I just don't get it. I just. Don't. Get it. Why am I-?...I mean, am I an idiot or something? I can't even sleep without-...UGH!" Velka groaned aloud, unable to even form the correct words to voice her frustration.

"Heh, heh, heh, alright, alright, let's just take this one step at a time." Ciaran snickered that much further. "First, what exactly is the matter? No need to beat around the bush or try to talk around it either. Such things don't suit you."

At this, Velka took a moment to take a slow breath to ease her temperament.

"Okay...I've been thinking him. A lot. All day. None stop. And I don't understand why. And now...now I'm dreaming about him." Velka said a plainly as she could, not hiding her frustration on things in the slightest. "It just doesn't make any sense. He's a liar, a thief, lacking in any form of proper respect. I am the Goddess of Sin. I am respected protector of Anor Londo. I am-"

"A little bit horny?" Ciaran interrupted with a light tease, which caused Velka to fight the urge to deny that suggestion as a deep blush came over her face.

"W-What?! I am not-"

"Heh, heh, I already told you, talking around things really doesn't suit you." Ciaran only laughed in response as she stood up and walked over to stand next to her friend to take a seat beside her on the bed. "We are gods, Velka." Ciaran said in what was almost a whisper, her face still carrying an expression of sly amusement. ""And just like humans have lust and passion and all the rest of it, so do we. I think you need to understand that it is natural for there to be temptations in life. It's nothing to be ashamed of."

Ciaran then folded her hands on her lap and looked at Velka knowingly.

"Things make sense when it comes to us because our desires and attractions are straightforward and uncomplex. It's simply our nature. We like what we like, we feel what we feel and no matter how hard one tries to go against the grain or our instincts...it always seems that our nature wins out in the end."

At this, Velka simply glanced away from Ciaran as a conflicted expression crossed her face. Her mind spinning wildly with thoughts of both denial and acceptance all at once.

"So what then? I just "like what I like"? I should just throw myself at him like some harlot in heat? Ridiculous." Velka said with a scoff.

"Heh, heh, not at all. But you do need to stop running from it. Seriously, there is no reason you of all people should be this worked up because of a human man." Ciaran said as she put one hand on her shoulder in a comforting manner. "You are Velka. I've seen you tear a mans jaw off with your bare hands because he bad mouthed you."

"Hmph. He suggested he knew better ways to make use of my mouth, so I'd say he more than deserved my reaction." Velka said with a smirk as she crossed her legs in a feminine manner.

"Yes, he did. And I'm sure Kaylen will learn the same lesson if he ever suggests such a thing." Ciaran said with a laugh as the two shared an amused look between them before Ciaran continued on. ""But back to the point, why let young Kaylen have such power over you? You don't need to just let yourself be at the whims of whatever affection you may hold. Confront him in your own way and on your terms. Test him and talk with him."

Ciaran's fingertips were feather-light against Velka's cheek as she reached up and pushed back strands of straight, black hair. Her complexion was smooth and luminous, a perfect canvas for her striking features.

"Heh, he'll be more than eager to have his shot at you, no doubt. All you have to do is find out what his true intentions are, get closure on if what you feel is what you want and make a choice from there."

Velka considered Ciaran's words, letting them sink into her consciousness slowly before responding with a thought-filled nod of her head. It was true that she did not want to be at the whims of affections or desires and the idea of testing Kaylen was...interesting at least. But there were still questions there that both frightened and intrigued her alike; what if he passed? What would become of them then? How could she seek certainty and peace of mind with this human that plagued her thoughts?

Hesitation, doubt and excitement spurred within her all at once and Velka found herself feeling incredibly overwhelmed by the situation. Yet the Goddess within her remained resolute; she wanted answers, and she would get them no matter what.

With newfound determination brewing in her heart Velka smiled towards Ciaran in gratitude for bringing clarity into the matter before standing from her seat.

"You're right, Ciaran." Velka exclaimed with resolve in her tone. "I shall speak to Kaylen again and put all of this to bed. One way or the other."

Ciaran smiled in response, glad to have been of assistance. "That's the spirit. But do be careful in not making the mistake of underestimating him again. Kaylen appears to be quite capable of improvising and turning a situation to his favor when he needs too." Ciaran said with a smirk. "The goal is for you two to get to know one another, not to allow him to charm himself into a spot in your bed."

"Right," she laughed. "I may be sailing in uncharted waters, but I guarantee he won't be setting foot near my bed." She shook her head before heading out the door. She said with an amused roll of her eyes before making her way towards the door.

Before leaving however, Velka turned back to Ciaran and looked upon her with heartfelt gratitude brimming in her gaze. "Thank you for your advice, Ciaran. I really do appreciate it."

"Anytime, Velka." Ciaran said with a dramatic show of bowing her head.

Velka chuckled at Ciaran's showing before playfully shaking her head as she left the room. She had always known she could rely on Ciaran for wise words and practical wisdom. And although the journey ahead may be long and unclear it felt strangely reassuring knowing she had a friend like Ciaran in her corner. With a smile and newfound resolve in her heart Velka strode out of the door, determined to take back control of her feelings once more.

Ciaran smiled to herself as she watched Velka leave. She had always known Velka to be strong and willful, yet what the Lord's Blade had just witnessed showed an entirely different side to her. Something new and clearly exciting for her.

She then gives a small chuckle to herself at the thought of things.

"Goodness. She's only known the guy a few days and she's practically soaking beneath her dress. Heh, heh, heh...what would people say if they knew their "feared protector" had such a side to her." Ciaran remarks humorously beneath her breath as she headed back towards bed, grateful for the warmth of the bedsheets and still smiling at the memory of Velka's newfound resolve.

With one last chuckle for how things were turning out, Ciaran closed her eyes, knowing deep down that if Kaylen did manage to win over Velka he definitely owed her one hell of a thank you...

...a fact she would be sure to remind him once she inevitably seeks what she wants from him in earnest. Truthfully, it was all proceeding smoother than she could have ever imagined.

NO HOLD ON! JUST HOOOOOOLD ON! I GOT THINGS TO SAY!

Okay, firstly, I gotta say that I have ZERO idea where this chapter came from or why the heck I was going with it. I literally sat down and said "Ugh, there's no way I'm gonna be able to write a chapter before I get sent away with my unit for a bit" and then suddenly I'm like halfway done with one. (Why is my brain never like this when I actually have all the time in the world to write?!"

Secondly, I decided to put a bit more emphasis on the nature and emotions of gods. I always got the impression that in Dark Souls, Gods were more of a "This is a square box and I'm okay with that" sorta deal. While humans are more like "This is a square box...but I kinda wish it was a triangle and maybe a little more blue.". That is to say that I imagine the gods would prefer more certainty and structure, rather than simple leaving things to uncertainty.

So I thought it would be something of an amusing thought of having Velka fight against seeking out that certainty, even though her nature compels her to seek it out on way or another.

And lastly, with all that said, I'm hoping I didn't take away a bit of Velka and Ciaran's feel of "divinity" with making them a bit more down to earth like this. I figured that showing them having an intimate conversation like this would go a long way in showing that their very much close friends and that the trust is there between them.

But anyways, that's all I have to say this time around, ladies and gents.

As always, feel free to leave a review and tell me what you guys thought about this chapter of the story. Did Velka's attraction to Kaylen feel natural or should I have reigned it in a bit? Does her personality feel a little too unsure and hesitate for the Goddess of Sin? Did Ciaran come off as something a bit out of character or probably right up her ally?

Honest opinions are always appreciated as I'm always looking to improve my style of writing to make this story a bit more interesting for you guys. so don't be shy in telling me your thoughts about how things are going so far. Outside opinions will have a huge effect on how this story will play out.

P.S. For the many individuals who PM'd me regarding Ciaran being something of a potential love interest, I want to (Sarcastically) say thanks. Now I can't get it out of my head and I'm starting to feel like it would be kinda cute. -_- (My boy Artorias is RIGHT THERE, guys. How you gonna ship Ciaran away from the legend himself?)
