Are We Fools? Chapter 1

This is a Bo and Lauren fanfiction; if you don't like them, well, don't read it.

Lauren looked at the pregnancy test in her hand, praying that the small pink plus sign was just a dream or her eyes were playing tricks on her. But it wasn't.

She let out a tired sigh, running a hand through her hair and tossing the test aside before flopping back onto her bed.

"What am I going to do, James?" Lauren asked, turning to see the young man lying next to her. James was one of her first real friends in the fae world. He had been like a brother to her ever since she joined. He was always there for her, and she really needed him right now.

"You can say it's mines ," James said, grinning. "Or we can pack up and cross the border before anyone realizes what's going on." He laughed. He knew he was only half-joking. Lauren chuckled. She could always count on him to try to cheer her up, even a little bit.

As much as I would love to have your love child, Jason would probably kill me, and besides running and hiding, it sounds like a good idea. But I can't do that to Bo. I mean, we had our problems, but...

Lauren trailed off, taking a deep breath to calm the various emotions coursing through her.

I mean, if someone had your child and didn't tell you. You found out about them five years later. How would you feel? Lauren asked, looking away from James as her mind filled with thoughts of Bo.

It's been almost a month since she told Bo she needed space; it wasn't like she wanted to break up with her.

Lately, it felt like Bo was focused more on her case than them. She understood that there were people and Fae who would always need her. But it felt like she was trying to get Bo to notice her, clearly losing herself in the process.

She had been in relationships where she was put second, and they made up for it. Hell, she was lucky if she was second in their minds these days. But after that talk...

Flashback!

Bo said, shocked to see the blonde in the kitchen. "Sorry, the door was open, so I decided to wait. We... um... need to talk." Lauren said nervously.

"This isn't a good time," Bo said, struggling to get out. Lauren didn't notice as she got out of the car.

Running a hand through her hair, she tried to calm down. Lately, that's what all of their "talks" started out as, but she had enough.

She was going to finally put her foot down for once. Bo could see Lauren was getting mad. Before she had a chance to say anything, the blonde cut her off.

Then when is a good fucking time Boo? I get it people will always need your help but what about us Boo? Because lately it's all about you Boo.

I can't talk because I have cases or I can't make it to our date because I have to help Dyson...Trick...Kenzi, they're always someone else!

Fuck! The only time I see you these days is when you need help or need to be healed. You might as well be dating yourself! Because that's all that this relationship seems to be about, not us, but you. All I want is a fucking five minutes to talk it out and tell you that I want a break!

Just to figure out where the hell I stand in this so-called relationship. If you can even call it that." Lauren snapped, knowing it was mean, but needing to get her point across and having done that for far too long with Bo.

Fine, you want space? Then let's just break up! Because, honestly, you're nothing but a piece of human meat who can't even satisfy anyone, let alone a powerful fae like me!" Bo shouted. Her eyes widened as the words left her mouth. She quickly regretted them when she saw the look on Lauren's face.

L.A., save it. I just need some space to think about where this "relationship" was going because you were always too busy.

But now I know how you truly feel. I would expect that from anyone else, but not you… Lauren shook her head, fighting back her tears, but she failed miserably.

"I never want to see you again, Bo Dennis!" Lauren ran out of the clubhouse, nearly knocking over Kenzi who had been walking by. She didn't care that Bo was trying to call after her; she was heartbroken and hurt.

End flashback.

She knew those words weren't Bo's, but they didn't lessen their impact on her. She hadn't seen Bo or the others since. Bo had tried to call her or see her at the compound. But she wanted nothing to do with him.

But now, with her pregnant, Lauren had no idea what to do or how Bo would take the news. All she could remember were those words he'd said.

She loves humans. She'll always help both humans and animals alike, and yet, she couldn't help but wonder if a small part of Bo really felt that way too.

Maybe she should leave. What was the point of staying? She had made it clear how she felt, and with Bo's and Trick's bloodlines, her unborn child was already in enough danger.

All their enemies would love to get their hands on the next in line for the Blood King Throne, and for so many other reasons.

It wasn't even born yet, and its unborn child already had some enemies lurking around them. Even more so once they found out who their child was.

She thought to herself, "Maybe it will be safer for the both of them and her heart to just leave before things get any worse."

"Tell her," Lauren said, giving him a confused look, knowing he would be the first to kick Bo's ass if she didn't.

1. First of all, Jason loves you, and I will kill him if he even thinks about laying a hand on you. 2. Although I don't like her for breaking your heart, I agree you should tell her. I mean, if I were in your position, I would want to know if someone had feelings for me.

I would like to know more about them. Be in their lives and do all those things. But you also can't force them to be in your life.

Based on what you told me, it seems clear she wants to discuss what happened between you two. You should at least try to talk through your problems and work together to raise this child because, like it or not, it's going to need both of you.

Don't get me wrong. I hate the bitch. But this kid...maybe he's fae. Even with our combined brainpower, I'm not a succubus. I have friends who would help in a heartbeat. If it turns out to be fae, wouldn't it be better for him to come here?

How did this even happen? I mean, I barely passed Human and Fae Sex Ed.; do you need a little something extra to make a baby?

Lauren thought about what James had said before answering his question. She knew he was right; if this child were going to have a chance to grow up, they would need both of them working together, not at each other's throats.

Yes, but Bo has been the only person from either the human or fae world I have been around since I could get pregnant. So, unless some other fae or human were to impregnate me without my knowledge, I mean, it's the fae world, anything can happen, so I can't rule that out or Bo...ah! Lauren yawned loudly in the last part of the sentence. Slowly closing her eyes, she drifted off to sleep before she even realized it. James just smiled, shaking his head at his friend.

He knew the stress of everything was finally getting to her. Getting up, he covered her up. "Don't worry, whatever happens, Uncle James is always here," he whispered to her belly, then kissed her forehead.

Lauren felt like the sister he had always wanted. The family he had never had. He couldn't shake the odd feeling that suddenly came over him. Being the type of fae he was, that wasn't a good thing.

He shook the thought off. "Guess I'll make a sandwich and see what's on cable," he said, not wanting to leave Lauren alone, especially with that bad feeling that had come over him.

Being a Quinn, he had many abilities. One was he could feel danger or when something bad was coming. This was something else, and he didn't want to worry Lauren.

So he decided to keep it to himself for now.

Tell me what you think, trash it, keep going. I promise I will explain the odd behavior in the next chapter. Until then...
