A.N. I do not own Inuyasha or Naruto.
Gaara sat beneath the lone tree in the little desert garden, letting out a relieved sigh when he felt the brush of Kagome's energy, cutting through the distance to touch him. It was like she knew he needed reassurance at times. He looked up at the thin branches and remembered the last time she was here with him.
Kankuro came into the garden, holding reports. "Gaara? It's been two hours since you went to lunch… You have work to do still."
"I am aware, Kankuro." Glancing at his brother, he let out a sigh. "The office felt so confined."
"Do you want to work outside?" Coming to sit next to him with his arms full of scrolls, he glanced his way. "Or was this your way of saying you're done for the day?"
Lips thin, Gaara leaned back against the tree and closed his eyes for a moment. "I am done for today."
Sighing, Kankuro looked at his little brother for a moment. "You should write to her and tell her to come back soon. She is your intended. She should be at your side."
"Naruto needs her too. He has less control." Gaara met his gaze, his expression impassive. "Besides, she will be with me full time soon enough. Once he has control, she will be in Suna."
"True enough. Perhaps Konoha could have him escort her back for a week or two. Just because he needs her more, doesn't mean your needs don't matter. He probably misses you too." Kankuro gathered himself. "I'll expect to see you early tomorrow, Kazekage-sama."
