Sailor Moon: Along Came A Spider
Chapter 1
You all know the drill at this point, so let's take this from the top. My name is Peter Parker. I am thirty years old, and I work as a scientist at Stark Industries. 15 years ago, I went on a field trip to my then-future alma mater, Empire State University, where I was bitten by a radioactive spider. And ever since that day, I have been the one and only Spider-Man. I'm pretty sure you know the rest.
'With great power, there must also come great responsibility.' *BANG*
I saved a bunch of people, I fell in love. *SNAP* I… l-lost that love.
Then I saved the city a whole bunch of times and fell in love again just as many times, now that I think about it, before finally marrying the perfect woman: Mary Jane Watson-Parker, actress / supermodel extraordinaire and the mother of our adorable daughter: little Mayday (named after my favorite aunt), the most perfect angel in the entire multiverse.
That's not to say that I've only ever saved the day by myself. Far from it, actually. I've teamed up with heroes from all corners of this world and others. Even other versions of myself from across countless Earths and timelines. Crazy, huh?
Just recently, I was inducted into the big leagues: The Avengers. Tony Stark himself took the liberty of paying off all my family's debts and gave me a position as one of his top scientists. Even got a shiny new suit. Literally.
But at the end of the day, I'm still your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. And no matter how many hits I take, how many times I get knocked down, I always find a way to get back up. Because while I'm not the only thing standing between this city and oblivion, I'm still an important part of that. And I have a lot to fight for. To live for. And no one can take that away from me...
He couldn't remember what had happened. All Spider-Man knew was that his head was throbbing, and his ears were ringing. This was not a new experience for him. Suddenly, his eyes shot open, and he sat up with a gasp. It took a moment for him to steady his breathing, his heartbeat following shortly after. Looking around, he saw that he was on the roof of a tall building. Also, not a new experience.
Looking up at the sun, the wallcrawler could estimate that it was around noon. Standing up, he decided that web-swinging would probably help get the old memory working right. But as he approached the edge of the roof and looked down at the city below him, he was met with a surprising revelation. He was not in New York City. The landscape was completely wrong. There wasn't as much car honking. There wasn't even any yelling! But the dead giveaway was the words on the buildings and billboards. They weren't in English. They were symbols that he actually recognized as Japanese kanji.
"Okay," said the web-head to nobody in particular. "I'm in Japan. But which part?" That's when a metaphorical lightbulb went off in his head. "Lyla. Are you there? Lyla?"
He then started fiddling with his suit, while mentally pleading 'Please be working! Please be working!'
"P-Peter…?" warbled out the feminine voice of his suit's personal A.I., filling him with immense relief. "What happened?"
"Oh! Thank the Weaver you're okay!"
"Everything feels weird. What happened?"
"Well, we're somehow in Japan. Mind calling the Avengers for a ride back home."
Some seconds then passed, but Lyla's response came as a bit of a shock. "Um, Peter?", she asked shakily.
"What is it?"
"I can't find the Avengers network. Or even the networks for S.H.I.E.L.D. and Stark Industries!"
The eye lenses on Spider-Man's mask widened considerably at that revelation. He then had a thought he hoped he was wrong about. "Lyla…"
"Yes, Peter?"
"Look up the world's superheroes."
"Searching… oh boy."
"What's 'oh boy'?"
Rather than give him a verbal response, Lyla pulled a picture of a newspaper clipping onto his mask's HUD. On said picture were five teenaged looking girls in weird sailor outfits, with the caption reading (in Japanese) 'SAILOR GUARDIANS SAVE THE DAY ONCE AGAIN!'
With a dejected sigh, Spider-Man came to the only logical conclusion. "Welp, it's official. We're on a parallel Earth. Again."
"Looks that way."
Before the conversation could continue, an explosion went off in the distance.
"Lyla," Spidey shouted, "access the CCTV cameras in that area! If they have any."
"Already done. Relaying footage to HUD."
In said footage, the wallcrawler found an all too familiar sight: a bank robbery in progress. The police were holding them off as best they could, but they were outnumbered and outgunned, with a couple of them even sustain gunshot injuries.
"The mystery of how we got here can wait. Time to go be a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man." And with that, Spider-Man leapt off the rooftop and swung off in the direction of the bank, ready to what he does best.
AUTHOR'S NOTES:
AND WITH THAT, THE FIRST CHAPTER OF MY FIRST EVER FANFICTION IS COMPLETE. AFTER 2 WHOLE YEARS OF PUTTING IT OFF. WATCHING ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE AND SAILOR MOON CRYSTAL (AND THE ETERNAL MOVIE) GAVE ME THE INSPIRATION FOR THIS PARTICULAR STORY.
LET'S ADDRESS SOME IMPORTANT PARTS ABOUT THE STORY TO AVOID CONFUSION. THIS TAKES PLACE ONE YEAR AFTER THE BATTLE WITH SAILOR GALAXIA.
ALSO, YES, I PUT 2099'S LYLA IN PLACE OF KAREN. IT JUST FELT RIGHT.
BTW, SPIDEY'S "SHINY NEW SUIT" IS THE SPIDER-ARMOR MK-IV.
SPIDER-MAN IS VOICED BY JOSH KEATON. THE SAILOR MOON CHARACTERS WILL BE VOICED BY THEIR VIZ DUB ACTORS. GRETA LEE SOUNDS RIGHT FOR LYLA. SPIDER-VERSE FANS KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT (I HOPE).
PLEASE DO NOT FLAME IN THE REVIEWS.
UNTIL NEXT TIME.
