Being an immortal, time had always passed very slowly in Elsa's opinion, depending on whatever was happening throughout her long life. Her escape from Arendale the night Anna died felt like it lasted an eternity as she ran through her beloved kingdom's streets. The day Arendale was burnt to the ground by the Nazi invaders felt like it would never end as Elsa watched her childhood home light up in flames. Her very existence was a drag, not being able to keep track of the days, weeks, months, and years.
Yet, being with Anna, being with Taylor made time fly by so fast that Elsa wished that it would slow down again, if only to spend more time with her sister. She lost track of how long they spent talking, and catching up with one another. Elsa had shed more than a few tears with the more painful memories.
"I've missed this." Elsa said once a short silence decided to settle in during a break in the conversation. The sisters were laying on the bed, with the two of them on their side, staring at each other. "I missed you."
Anna smiled back, and reached out her hand, caressing Elsa's cheek. "It looks like not even death could keep us apart ."
"Mhm." Elsa sighed contently. She had never thought about that, that reincarnation was possible. How many lifetimes did she miss out on reuniting with Anna because of her isolation? On the other hand, finding Anna amongst the billions of people around the globe would've been impossible, even for an immortal. The rain was still pouring hard, judging by the sound of the drops and wind that assaulted Anna's window.
Was Gale being nosy? Elsa didn't sense him.
"Your skin is cold." Anna said bluntly. She pulled on Elsa's cheek, pinching her skin ever so slightly, as if she still couldn't believe the former queen was here. Her eyes widened slowly. "D-Don't you dare say it-"
"The cold never bothered me anyways." Elsa murmured which led to a giggle. She sat up after a few seconds, stretching her back.
"What made you decide to pass by here? Arendale is on the other side of the world." Anna asked, she joined Elsa in sitting, crossing her legs together. She quickly raised her hands, waving them defensively. "Not that I'm complaining!"
I'm running from Ahtohallan and my duties.
Those words went unsaid.
"I'm tired." Elsa answered, closed her eyes and took a deep breath to control her powers. "Being alive for over a century, alone, isolated from the rest of the world turned living into a chore." She gave Anna a smile, opening her eyes.
"If I had known that you were here, I would've left a long time ago."
Bruni, Gale and Nokk would have done their best to dissuade her, but in the end their arguments would have failed. Nothing would keep Elsa from her sister. Anna pressed her lips together and looked away. Perhaps she had revealed a bit too much. Elsa cursed herself internally. First she doesn't reveal the whole truth, keeping secrets, and now she was a bit too honest.
She would have to work on that, it's been so long since she had a real conversation, those brief, awkward greetings during her journey to the United States didn't count.
"I'm sorry." Anna whispered so low it was almost hard to hear.
"Don't be." Elsa stretched her hand out, and brushed Anna's dark bangs behind her ear. "You did nothing wrong."
Ahtohallan was the source of all of Elsa's troubles.
"I'm still sorry, you've been through a lot." Anna continued, which made Elsa pull her into another hug.
Nothing would ever separate her from her sister ever again.
Their hug was interrupted by a knock that came from the door, causing Taylor to jump up, awkwardly freeing herself from Elsa's embrace. Dad would get suspicious if he found her hugging her sister from another life, even if he thought she was just a tutor from the library.
Wiping her eyebags with the sleeves or her hoodie quickly, Taylor avoided the slightly hurt look in Elsa's eyes.
"Yeah Dad?" Taylor grabbed a random notebook from her nightstand just before the door creaked open. Dad popped his head in through the opening.
"It's getting kinda late, and the storm is getting worse. Does your friend want me to drive her home?" Dad asked, turning his head towards Elsa with a small smile, one that the blonde returned.
"No!" That came out louder than Taylor expected. The words had escaped her lips without thinking. She needed to come up with an excuse quickly.
"It'll be raining too hard for you to drive safely." Taylor recovered fast. "C-Could Elsa stay the night? I don't want either of you getting hurt."
Dad's eyes widened slowly in shock. It's been years since Taylor had a 'friend' over. "O-Of course, as long as Elsa and her parents are fine with it."
"I'll stay the night." Elsa said a bit too fast. She rubbed the back of her neck awkwardly. "I, uh, live alone. My parents died in an accident a long time ago."
Dad nodded, deep in thought. He licked his dry lips. "I'm sorry to hear that."
"Thank you." Elsa's voice was light like always.
He started closing the door. "Have fun girls. Don't stay up too late, even though it is winter break." And he was gone, the door closed shut.
"Well that went well." Taylor gave Elsa a grin so large that it hurt her cheeks. It's been so long since she was able to truly smile.
"All thanks to your quick thinking." Elsa hummed as she leaned back onto Taylor's bed. "I'll have to find a place to stay, somewhere close hopefully. I don't want to draw too much attention-"
"Shh!" Taylor joined her sister and placed her head on Elsa's shoulder. "We can worry about that tomorrow after we get some sleep."
A thunderous boom came as soon as she finished speaking.
"Do you know what that means?" Elsa wrapped her arms around Taylor's torso. The Snow Queen giggled softly.
Taylor pressed her lips together to stop herself from smiling. Her cheeks were already numb.
"The sky's awake! So I'm awake! So it's time to play!"
A/N
I can't believe it's been over a year since I last updated this. Time passes by so quickly.
Looking back I was debating whether to rewrite this, or continue, and I'm still undecided so I'll continue it for now.
I just need to come up with a better name.
