The next morning, when Ruby, Margot, and Bliss woke up to find that the house was unusually quiet.

"Sam, are you up?"

But no one called back. Ruby went to his room, and knocked on the door. But there was no answer. She opened the door, and to her shock the room was empty. Panicked, Ruby quickly rushed downstairs.

"Girls, Sam's not in his room." Margot and Bliss were surprised.

The girls quickly searched the house, but couldn't find Sam anywhere.

"Oh my gosh, where could he be?"

"I'm sure he's around he somewhere." Margot told Ruby.

"He simply can't just disappear." added Bliss.

After looking around some more, they heard the front door open, and the girls quickly came. Sam had just walked inside.

"Sam, there you are. Where have you been?" Ruby wanted to know.

"I was just outside."

"You can't just go leaving the house without telling me, where were you?"

"It's none of your business."

And then Sam went up to his room.

"What was that about?" asked Margot.

"I don't know." Ruby replied.

"But something is definitely up with him." Bliss mentioned.

Later that day, Conner and Trevin came over and the girls told him about Sam's strange behavior.

"I think the only way to find out what's going on with him is to follow him." said Conner.

"That's a great idea, babe." Ruby told him.

"But we'll have to be sneaky." Trevin piped up.

It was true, Sam was able to slip in and out of the house without them noticing.

"Okay, so here's what we're gonna do..." Ruby started.

And she began telling her friends her plan.

That afternoon the teens were sitting in the living room watching TV, Sam was leaving with the bag. He made sure the others weren't watching, and then quietly slipped out the door. As soon as they heard the door close, the teens sprang into action.

They left quietly left the house, and started following Sam. He left the yard, ran across the street, down the street and to the house.

"Who's house is that?" asked Bliss.

"That's one of the houses my mom has on the market, it's empty." Ruby explained.

Sam then opened the door, and went inside. Now very curious, the teens went to the house, and went inside. They stayed as quiet as they could be, and then looked in another room. And that's when they saw Sam giving food to Connie, and that she was wearing her pajamas.

"Sam?" Ruby asked out loud.

The two kids looked shocked when they saw the teens.

"What's going on here?" Margot wanted to know.

Sam struggled to find his words, while Connie looked frightened.

"It seems that Sam has a little girlfriend." teased Trevin.

Getting the joke, the teens began to laugh and smirk. Then Connie spoke up.

"My name's Connie. Sam was helping me."

The teens stopped laughing and smirking, and looked confused.

"I found Connie hiding in the bushes a few days ago. She got washed out of the sea by the storm and needed help. So I brought her here and helped her." Sam explained.

The teens were surprised.

"Sam..." Ruby started.

"I didn't tell you because I just thought you were too busy with your friends and tell me to leave you alone."

The five then looked a little somber. Ruby couldn't believe that her usually annoying little brother could do such a nice thing. She then went over to him, and got down on his level.

"It's okay, Sam. This was a really nice thing you did." Ruby told him sincerely.

She then told Connie that she could come back to their house. With the help of her friends, they all cleaned up the house, and left.

Back at the house, Connie and Sam played a little, while Ruby got a hold of her Uncle Brill. That evening, Brill came on land, and showed up at the house.

"Thanks for coming, Uncle Brill." Ruby said.

"It's no problem Ruby. I know Connie's parents and they've been worried sick about her. So I'll be happy to take her home." he told her.

Everyone left the house, and went down to the docks, and Sam and Connie said goodbye.

"Thanks for helping me, Sam." Connie said.

"Your welcome Connie, hope we can see each other again." Sam replied.

The two kids hugged, and Brill picked Connie up, and jumped back into the ocean. They all waved goodbye, and went back home.

A couple days later, Agatha and Arthur came back.

"Kids, we're home." called Agatha.

"Mom, Dad you're home." Ruby said.

"Hi guys." Sam greeted.

"How was your time here?" Arthur wanted to know.

"Oh it was great."

"You two didn't get into any fights did you?"

"Oh, no. Actually I realized that Sam's a pretty nice kid." Ruby informed, putting a hand on Sam's shoulder.

"And Ruby's an understanding sister." Sam added.

Both parents were pleasantly surprised to see that their kids were getting along better.
