My beautiful Angel of death
Ch. 2
Goku and Vegeta found Trunks in his usual hiding place, where Goku Black can't find them.
"Do you know anything about a girl named Ann that Zamasu and Black knows?" Vegeta asks Trunks.
"A girl he knows?" Trunks looked confused.
"Yes, there is a girl that was here in the city that apparently Black and Zamasu both know. Do you remember anything that might have been said about her? He seemed pretty pleased to see her again." Vegeta continued.
"Yeah and he flew away with her too." Goku added.
"I..I don't know…." Trunks stammers, thinking. Trunks shakes his head. "I don't know but I do know that he is especially angry with me because of the time machine. He said I made a mess of things and because of that I caused things to happen and that it was my fault and that he was going to make sure the mortals paid for what they did….. to her…." Trunks looks surprised. "That didn't make sense at the time but maybe she knows him and something happened to her?"
Vegeta shakes his head. "She doesn't know him. He took off his mask and he even let her hug him. He didn't even hurt her but she had no idea who he was. She had been down in that hole for who knows how long, without food. She thought he was the angel of death who had come to take her life. Then again, he did take your body in this timeline Goku, so maybe she knows Zamasu?"
Trunks sighs. "Well, he his wearing all black and has a scythe. I could see why she would think that he's the angel of death and considering what he's done."
"She doesn't remember what he did either. She remembers very little from what she has told him." Vegeta says.
"I'm sure he will be back at some point. We need a plan and try to found out more." Trunks says.
"Good thing I brought some senzu beans!" Goku says and Trunks and Vegeta just look at him, not saying anything.
:: Meanwhile back at the cabin::
After landing on the Balcony with Ann in Black's arms, Ann realizes they are at a cozy looking cabin. Someone walks out onto the balcony and Ann stares at him because he's unlike anything she has ever seen before but her first thought was how cute he is and beautiful. He has beautiful green skin, beautiful eyes and white hair. She blushes and looks away.
"I'm sorry for… forgive me for staring. It's just that you have beautiful eyes" Ann says, embarrassed.
"It's quite alright, my lady." Zamasu had almost said her name but caught himself. He didn't want to scare her. "My name is Zamasu, it is a pleasure to meet you."
"It's a pleasure to meet you as well. My name is Ann. Thank you for letting me stay here. How did you find such a cozy little cabin?" Ann says and looks the cabin and outdoors over again.
Zamasu smiles kindly. "That's a pretty name."
Ann smiles. "Thank you."
"We found it by accident. I am happy you are pleased with it." Zamasu says with a smile.
Ann lets out a yawn. Black squeezes her gently but Ann doesn't pay much attention because she has become so sleepy suddenly. "I'm sorry, I'm keeping you away from your warm bed that we have prepared for you. I know you are tired. You should rest and when you wake up, we will have some food and drink prepared for you. How does that sound?"
Ann smiles and yawns again. "That sounds very nice, thank you." in a groggy voice.
Black carries Ann inside, with Zamasu following. Zamasu pulls back the covers and Black lays Ann in the bed, gently. Zamasu then covers her in the blankets. Ann almost immediately falls asleep and they leave the room. Black and Zamasu take a seat at the table back out on the balcony.
Black adjusts his gloves. "I'm going back to the city. I am going to the place that they call their police station and see what information that I can find out about what happened after that day. You should stay here and keep an eye on her, if Vegeta and Goku or that brat gets involved I'll deal with them."
Zamasu looks concerned. "They didn't follow you here, did they?"
Black stands up. "No they didn't even stop me from taking the girl, but they did eavesdrop on the conversation that me and Ann had. They didn't seem concerned for her safety and rightly so, for we would never harm her." He looks at Zamasu.
Zamasu shakes his head. "Never. I'll be here, keeping an eye on Ann."
With that, Black flies off, back to the city. Vegeta, Goku and trunks all sense him coming close but then senses him fades away.
Trunks looks so confused. "That's really strange, he never files around that randomly. Usually he stays in one place and uses his senses to try and find me."
"Let's go see what he's up to." Vegeta says.
They then go to follow him. They see that he's at the police station, what's left of it.
"Why is he at the police station? It's deserted! No one has been there since this all started." Trunks says but the Vegeta and Goku say nothing but only stand some distance from the building, watching.
Black searches the dark building. He uses his energy to create an energy ball for some light. He begins first looking in all the desks and filing cabinets. After searching for more than a half hour he finally finds Ann's file. He opens it and sits in a seat nearby and begins reading the case file. There are pictures of Ann and they are not pretty. There are some some of her when she was in the hospital, hooked up to an oxygen machine and her face covered in bruises and cuts, there were other pictures of other parts of her body that have bruises. He reads on about what happened that day they found her. She had been attacked and assaulted and so badly beaten, that she had went into a coma. The file state she was in a coma for months and when she had awoken and police had wanted to question her, however she had forgotten all that had happened. She had not forgotten her name but had forgotten many events in her life as well.
There was more in her case. They had her see a psychiatrist, who diagnosed her with amnesia. The files also go on to say that she had been staying in a psychiatric hospital for a while, trying to treat her for nightmares and other social issues she was having, it also states that she was still under care there and that the case was an ongoing investigation.
He let out a heavy sigh and tucked the folder into his shirt. He was so angry at seeing those pictures, he started tearing up the place throwing chairs and desks, getting his anger out. He then flew above the police station and with an energy ball, he blasted the station away, leaving only a giant crater behind. He then flew off back towards the cabin.
"Well, there goes any chance of us finding out what he was doing in there." Vegeta says.
"Wow, he must be pretty angry to destroy it like that." Goku commented.
"Now what do we do? We need to find out who this girl is. Maybe we can then find out why he's doing all this." Vegeta said.
They all stood there, thinking for a bit.
"If it was something bad that happened to her that there was a police report about it, maybe it was on the news or in the newspaper?" Trunks suggested.
"I'm too busy training to look at the news. Besides, it's depressing sometimes." Goku rubbed his head.
"Looks like it might be our best bet." Trunks shrugged.
They all nodded and flew off to the nearest news station. They had hours of work ahead of them.
::Meanwhile back at the Cabin::
Goku Black returned to the cabin, landing on the deck. Zamasu wasn't outside. Black stepped inside and immediately heard Ann talking hysterically and Zamasu trying to soothe her.
"I know they're here! They're here! I know it! I saw them come through the door! They're there!" She stated hysterically as Black entered the bedroom. "They have no faces! You have to go look!"
She was breathing heavily.
Zamasu caressed the side of her face gently. "shhh calm down, it was only a dream Ann. No one is here. It's ok."
She stared at him wide eyed and looked at Zamasu, then to Black.
Black came over to Ann. "I just came through the door. There was no one there. It was only a bad dream."
She was still breathing heavily looking up at him with worry in her eyes. "Are you sure?"
"Yes Ann. It was only a dream. Try to go back to sleep for a bit." Black gently grabbed her shoulders to coax her to lay down, which she did so, reluctantly but tried calming down. She didn't say anything more, only laid there trying to go back to sleep and trying to calm her breathing.
Zamasu spoke softly. "We will be in the next room Ann."
She only nodded and buried her face into the pillow and covered her face in the blankets.
They both stepped out of the room and into the next room. Black pulled out the folder from his top and handed it to Zamasu. Zamasu took the folder and opened it to start reading what Black had already read.
His face looked horrified. "How could such mortals be so barbaric and cruel!?"
Not taking his eyes off the files, he takes a seat at the table. "She doesn't remember anything?" He looks up at Black.
Black was already sitting in a chair with his elbows resting on his knees and head hung, deep in thought. He shook his head.
They both sit in silence for several moments, not saying anything.
Finally Zamasu spoke. "I didn't even get to see what they looked like, Master stopped me from even stopping them. What's the use in being a God if you can't even step in and stop them in their evil deeds!?" He balled up his fists.
Black Stood up finally. "Do you suppose any of them are even alive still?"
Zamasu stood up and looked out over the balcony and let out a sigh. "I don't know. That boy has been protecting some of the mortals in the city, maybe they are there. Besides, we don't even know who they are or what they look like. If Ann could remember what they looked like, then maybe we might know." He let out another sigh. How would they even begin to find out if they had already been killed or not. They had no idea where to start looking, since Ann didn't remember anything.
"Well no matter. We have found her alive. That was something unexpected. Maybe we should hold off on looking for them for the time being. Maybe she will remember something." Black stated.
Zamasu looked over at Black and nodded. "Perhaps her dreams have something to do with the attack." He paused then turned to look at Black. "Take me to the place where you found her later when she wakes up. Maybe she will want to go back and gather some things of hers?"
Black nodded but he didn't say anything.
::Meanwhile back in the city::
Goku, Vegeta and Trunks had found the news center. They spent over an hour searching for anything to do with the events of that day. They only knew of Ann's first name and not her last name. They finally had found something but the article was so short. All it stated was that a girl had been attacked, they didn't even mention her name but they did mention the hospital where she stayed and that she was in a coma, So they decided to try there.
Vegeta was getting frustrated. "We're getting nowhere! We already wasted an hour looking and this is all we found! How are we going to find out anything about this girl!? We don't even know her last name!"
"Well then we will just have to do is look for someone named Ann that was attacked and in a coma." Trunks said.
Vegeta growled but didn't argue so they set off to try there.
::Meanwhile back at the Cabin::
Ann had finally woke up from her sleep. The bed was so comfy and the blankets so warm and cozy, she really didn't want to move. She laid there for a bit thinking. She remembered what had happened earlier. How could they be so real, both of them looked so amazingly handsome and beautiful she thought. Then she remembered that the city wasn't safe. What if the one that had destroyed the city came to where they were to destroy her happiness. The thought terrified her.
Just then Zamasu peeked into the room. "Oh! You're awake!" He gave her a smile and walked into the room. "I do hope you had a pleasant sleep."
She smiled in return and she sat up slowly. "I did, thank you very much!" She had a worried look on her face.
"Is something troubling you Ann?" He asked sincerely.
Ann sighed. "I had a terrible thought. What if the person the one that destroyed the city found us!? I don't want them to find us here!"
He sighed. He should have known this would come up but he didn't want to tell her just yet that they were the ones behind it. He had to think of something to tell her.
"We are safe here, I promise. You are probably the safest…" He almost said mortal but stopped himself and cleared his throat to make it seem that was why he stopped talking. "the safest person around. They will not harm you. You have my word."
She looked at him. She wasn't so sure that was true but from the way he sounded as he said it, he seemed very sure of it. She let out a sigh. What else could she do anyways. She was here and that was all there was to it. Not much she could do anyway.
He spoke again taking her out of her thoughts. "I assure you Ann, that you have nothing to worry about." He smiled at her.
She looked at him. Oh his smile made him more beautiful. She was staring at him. She blushed and looked away when she realized she was staring at him. "I..I..I'm sorry for staring. That was rude. It's just… just that you have a beautiful smile."
He gave a little laugh. "It's quite alright Ann. Thank you and you have a beautiful smile as well."
She looked up at him and smiled. "Thank you." Just then, her stomach growled.
"You must be very hungry. Black is down by the river, catching some fresh fish, he thought you might like some fresh meat to eat."
"Oh that sounds lovely! I love fish! I haven't had any in…." She stopped to think how long it had been. She couldn't remember. "I…I don't know how long it's been, for I don't even know how long I was down there for." She was looking away in thought and she looked upset.
"How long was I down there? I can't even remember what day it was that I hid down there. Come to think of it, I don't even really remember who I was with that day. Why can't I remember? What is wrong with me!? Why do I always forget things!?" she thought to herself.
She looked over at Zamasu who was watching her with a sad look. "I'm sorry, my mind doesn't really work like it should. I.. try to remember things and it seems like even the smallest things slip away from me. I don't even remember the day I hid in that basement." She said sadly. "Will I ever remember? Will my mind work normal again?" She let out a heavy sigh. "Maybe I'm broken."
"You shouldn't worry yourself with such things. I am sure they will come to you in time. Perhaps some proper nutrition and good rest will help." He assured her.
He didn't know how else to reassure her. He wasn't used to talking to anyone about such things, being as he is a Kai and they had little to do with mortals but only watched over them. He had been watching over Ann for quite some time. It was quite by accident, not something he, himself would normally do even though his master Gawasu liked watching mortals do certain things. Zamasu on the other hand was bored one day as his master was watching the God tube. It's like a TV they watched of events that happened to mortals. His master had assigned him to watch God tube to watch some of the mortals on earth.
It was boring to him and he hated all the violence he saw sometimes. He would flip the channels. She was sitting at a place outside, with a friend at a table and having some tea. He liked tea. It was something he drank often. She was eating a cake of sorts and they were discussing something. He began to listen and watch only out of boredom.
::Flashback::
Ann Took a sip of her tea and took a bite of cake that had a strawberry on top, listening to her friend. They were sitting at a cafe.
"Did you see that new dress they had at the store?" Her friend asked her.
Ann looked at her friend with a confused look. "Which dress?"
"That new dress by Angel Girl, the pretty one with bunnies and strawberries on the trim."
"Oh really! Maybe after we finish our tea, we should go have a look in the shop." Ann said excitedly.
He watched them a bit more. They talked about different things and they paid for their cake and tea and headed to the store her friend had mentioned.
They went inside and they saw the new dress, hanging up in the store. They took the dress to the mirror and held it up to themselves.
Ann said sadly, all of a sudden. "Wouldn't it be neat if someone up above was watching us right now?"
Her friend looked at her. "huh?"
"Haven't you ever thought of things like that before?"
Zamasu was surprised. A mortal talking about something like that when he himself was in fact watching them.
Her friend thought about it. "Hmm not really but that's kind of unsettling don't you think?"
Ann shook her head. " no… I think it's pretty amazing, though I know it's not happening of course."
Her friend didn't know what else to say so she left Ann to her thoughts. This peaked Zamasu's interest, so he watched her longer just to see what she would do. She didn't do a lot just looked at the dresses and didn't buy anything because they talked about how expensive everything was. He watched them window shop in some stores, then go home.
This happened for a while. He would watch her almost everyday, but stuck to his other duties as well that his master had him tend to. He watched over her quite often. One day his master had finally decided to say something.
"Zamasu." His master Gowasu was drinking tea.
Zamasu was arranging the tea set on the cart. "Yes master?"
Gowasu took a sip of some tea. "I noticed that you have been watching over a certain mortal girl for a while now. Is there a reason you have?" He quietly waited.
Zamasu stopped what he was doing. He thought about it for a moment then continued what he was doing. "I am not sure myself master. She is but a normal mortal girl." As he said those words, his heart ached and felt a sort of sadness and he didn't understand the feelings that he was having, he had even said it with a sort of sadness in his voice.
Gowasu noticed but he decided not to say anything about the sadness in his voice. "And have you learned anything?"
He stopped again and this time he looked at his master. He then quietly placed his own tea cup on the table and sat down. He thought a moment and took a sip. "She doesn't bother anyone and keeps to herself. She doesn't trust others easily either. " He paused. "She cries at night sometimes, because she is lonely." He pictured her in her bed with her face buried in her pillow, crying herself to sleep. It made him feel sad though he didn't understand the feelings he was having.
He sighed and took another sip of tea. He was pondering on the last time he watched her. She was sleeping and she was restless in her sleep and talked in her sleep as well and woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't go back to sleep. He wondered what she had dreamed of, she looked as though she was tired still and he remembered she made herself a cup of hot chocolate and curled up on the sofa and only stared at nothing in particular.
"Zamasu? You seem troubled."
Zamasu had a sad look on his face. "Master, the last time I was watching her, she had been asleep and she was restless and she had been talking in her sleep and then she had awoken in the middle of the night and couldn't go back to sleep. I was just wondering what she had been dreaming of that she was so troubled with."
"Mortals are very troubled by things in their lives and with her I am sure it could be because of some fear she has or something she may be worrying about. Have you seen anything out of the ordinary?"
He let out a sigh, thinking. "No master. I try to do as you said and watch others as well, so I only watch her when I can."
Gowasu let out a heavy sigh. "Zamasu, you remember what I said? That we are only to watch over our universe and over time here." He paused and Zamasu looked at him sadly. "We are not supposed to interfere in the lives of mortals."
"Master, I understand but what is the point of being a God, if as a God, we can't help someone?"
"Zamasu, it could effect time in a negative way if we interfere too much."
"However something happening to them, could also effect time negatively."
Zamasu did make a point, but that's just how things were. It was a Kai's role to watch over them. "But that's just how it is. We are not supposed to interfere."
Zamasu didn't think it was fair but he only agreed. "Yes master I understand."
