Ch 22 Saying Goodbye
"Kopa's dead," Cala said coldly as she rounded the corned. Jasiri's brown eyes went wide as she heard her mother say this. Cala approached the group, who were all glaring at her. "My grandson is quite the looker," Cala said, smiling down at Ajabu. But Jasiri quickly pulled her son away from her mother as she glared at Cala.
"What the Hell do you mean Kopa's dead Mother?" Jasiri demanded, her voice shaking with emotion despite her best efforts to keep calm. But the stress of the day combined with the hormones of just giving birth were taking their toll on the young lioness.
"I mean that he's dead dear," Cala said, her voice having no emotion to it. "Shida and Mtunga helped me kill him." Jasiri gasped and her eyes went wide with horror.
"No," she whispered as the tears came to her eyes. "No that can't be true." Then she looked at Cala with anger, "How could you do that Mother?!"
"Why I did it for you Jasiri," Cala said, smiling a her daughter. "You and my grandson. I couldn't have Kopa ruin both of your lives. Trust me darling its for the best. For both you and your son."
"How could you say something so cold?!" Jasiri demanded, glaring at her mother. "You've really gone off the deep end Mother! You are pure evil!"
"How is wanting my child and grandchild to be safe evil?" Cala asked, her voice a slight growl. "I know you're upset right now Jasiri but I promise you that you'll thank me someday for this."
"Thank you?!" Jasiri growled, baring her teeth at Cala. "Thank you?! I hate you Mother! I'll never forgive you for this!"
"You say that now," Cala said. "But in time you'll see that its for the best."
"How is for the best that I have to raise my son alone?!" Jasiri spat out, as she quickly wiped away the tears that were flowing. "How is it for the best that Ajabu will never know his father?!"
"Jasiri..." Cala began. But she was cut off by her daughter's furious cry.
"I hope you get the death penalty!" Jasiri spat out. "I hope King Simba puts all three of you to death! You can all rot in Hell!"
"Jasiri you don't mean that," Cala said softly. "You're just upset."
"Yes I do Mother!" Jasiri cried out. "I mean every word! You're dead to me! I have no mother!" With that Jasiri broke down sobbing.
"Lets go Cala," Simba said. "I've got some punishment to hand out to you, Shida and Mtunga."
"I understand Simba," Cala said softly. "But before I go Jasiri please know everything I've done has been because I love you and I want what's best for you and my grandson. I just hope one day you realize that a mother would do anything to protect her child."
"Go to Hell Mother," Jasiri spat out, her words muffled by Kiara's fur. Both lionesses had tears running down their faces as they wept for Kopa.
"Come Cala," Simba said, his voice monotoned. Cala just nodded wordlessly as she followed Simba outside the cave where Shida and Mtunga were already.

Later that day Simba had sentenced Cala, Shida and Mtunga to death for their role in murdering Kopa, whose body had been brought back to Pride Rock for a proper burial. Kike was devastated at the decision but the dark tan lioness knew that what her mother had done was unforgivable. "Oh Mother why didn't you listen to me," Kike sobbed as she embraced her mother for the last time.
"I'm sorry darling," Mtunga said. "But I did what I thought was best for everyone. Especially for you, Mjuku and Karibu. I'm not sorry for what I did and I'd do it again if I had the chance."
"As would I," Shida said, looking directly at Binti and Mwana, whose eyes went wide with surprise.
"Phh figures you'd say that," Mwana scoffed, rolling his light brown eyes. "Goodbye Mother. And good riddance." With that Mwana turned and walked away from his mother.
"Do you feel the same way Binti?" Shida asked, looking at her daughter.
"You know what," Binti said. "At first I was devastated but now I'm not. I'm glad you didn't succeed Mother. I'd rather see you dead than have Dhana grow up in such a twisted, sick world. Goodbye Mother." With that Binti walked away from her mother to retrieve Dhana from one of the other lionesses that was keeping her.
"Lets go you three," Simba said, motioning for Cala, Shida and Mtunga to follow him to where their sentence would be carried out.

Later that evening Kopa's funeral had just finished and Jasiri was sitting beside his grave, the tears going down her face. "Oh Kopa I'm so sorry," the rusty brown lioness whispered. "I'm so sorry you had to die at the paws of my mother and her deranged friends. I knew my mother had issues with you but I never in a million years would have guessed that she would resort to murder. I'll never forgive myself for not seeing that. Never." With that Jasiri broke down and laid on the ground, sobbing her eyes out. After crying for a few minutes she felt a nose press into her side. Looking up Jasiri saw Kiara and Kovu there, both of them having sad looks on their faces.
"Are you alight 'Siri?" Kiara asked softly as she laid beside her sister-in-law.
"This is all my fault Ki'," Jasiri sobbed, burying her face in Kiara's chest fur. "My mother killed Kopa because of me."
"Jasiri that's not true," Kovu said as he laid on the other side of Jasiri. Pain shot through Kovu's front paw and side but the golden brown lion ignored it and focused on his devastated sister-in-law. "Cala did what she did because she was insane. You can't blame yourself for that."
"I still do though," Jasiri said softly. "And it isn't fair. My little boy will never know his father and I'll have to raise him alone."
"You're not alone Jasiri," Kiara said. "You've got me, Nuka, Kovu, Safara, Chafu and Vitani. We're gonna help you raise Ajabu."
"And he'll always know his father," Kovu put in. "We'll make sure of that. Trust me 'Siri everything will be just fine."
"I...I don't know about that," Jasiri said with a sigh. "I mean I know you guys mean what you say. But its just gonna take time for me to really accept it."
"We get it," Kovu said, looking at Kiara, who nodded in agreement. "And that perfectly normal." Just then Kovu winced from his broken front paw.
"I knew you shouldn't have come back out here," Kiara said, rolling her green eyes in annoyance. "You need to go back to the cave to rest."
"Kiara," Kovu began. "I already told you I'm f..." Just then another stab of pain went through Kovu and he let out a groan despite his best efforts not to.
"You were saying bro?" Kiara said with an arched eyebrow. Kovu glared at Kiara and Jasiri let out a slight chuckle.
"I think we should all go back home," the rusty brown lioness suggested. "Its been a Hell of a day." Kiara and Kovu nodded in agreement and with that Kiara and Jasiri stood and after helping Kovu stand the threesome headed back to Pride Rock to get some much needed rest.

When Kovu, Kiara and Jasiri returned they noticed the lionesses were all standing around Simba and Zira, who both had glares on their faces. "What's happening?" Kiara asked, approaching Nuka.
"See for yourself," the Prince said, nodding towards Simba and Zira. Kiara looked over and her green eyes went wide with shock when she saw who was standing in the midst of the crowd.
