January 21st, 2011 Saturday Brockton Bay, medical room ,4th floor PRT building. 9 pm.
"Her condition is stable." Druid offered with a small nod looking down at the girl laying on the stretcher.
The nearby doctor frowned and looked at the vitals on the devices hooked to the girl. "Stable!? She's dead!"
"And she's maintaining that condition quite well." Druid added with a nod.
"I feel fine." Taylor offered.
"And she says she's fine." Druid added.
"No she's not." the doctor grumbled smacking the side of the machine.
"Yes I am." Taylor offered.
"She is?" Druid asked.
"She isn't!" The doctor grumbled.
"I would really like to get cleaned up." Taylor muttered.
"Impossible you'll be stone dead in a moment." the doctor huffed.
"Are they doing a bit, or is this normal?" a nurse asked and another one shrugged.
Any further argument was cut short as the doors were kicked open and a blonde woman stormed in with a Aegis, the Deputy director, and a smug looking Alucard.
"You three, OUT!" Director Piggot growled at the doctor and nurses.
"What!? No! This is my medical center, you cannot just throw me out." the doctor huffed.
"Alright then. Are you prepared to fill out the paperwork necessary for Case 13 knowledge?" Director Piggot demanded.
"Hey look at the time, it's my lunch break." One of the nurses offered.
"Need a bio break myself, avoid the burritos from that gas station on fourth." the other nurse stated, both of them quickly power walking out the door.
The doctor blinked. "I have another patient to check on." And he too was out the door.
"Case 13?" Aegis asked.
"I hope your wrists are redundant too." Alucard chuckled.
"Druid, check him over." Director Piggot shifted her gaze to the girl on the stretcher. "Miss Herbert are you alright?"
"It's, um Hebert." Taylor offered
"Hmm sorry, though the question remains. "
"I guess." Taylor offered.
"Holy shit dude what the hell is with your body." Druid muttered her hand gripped tight on the now bare wrist of Aegis.
"Healthy living?" Aegis shrugged.
"Is he alright?" Renick asked.
"If by alright you mean no traces of being dead, then yeah he's fine. Shit we could probably remove his head and it would only be an annoyance." Druid muttered.
"Please don't" Aegis responded.
"No, seriously, you could nearly single handedly fix the organ donor issue as well as any lack of blood the red cross might have." Druid offered.
"Fraid not. I already thought of that idea and it turns out whatever my power does it also made a new blood type to do it. My organs and blood are incomparable with any other blood type." Aegis explained.
"Oh yeah, I see that now that you mention it. Huh, I could probably change the typing but it's easier just to turn excess fat from a normal donor into more blood." Druid nodded.
"Alright Miss Hebert. I have a few questions to ask you." Deputy Director Renick began
"Shouldn't I have a lawyer or at least my dad?" Taylor frowned.
"Yes you should." Director Piggot stated. "Which is one of the questions we have for you, as in what is his number? Though the most prevalent is what the hell happened to you? But that can wait until you get cleaned up. Renick have Mouse Protector... Have Miss Militia get some things for Taylor to wear from the gift shop, Druid bring her up to the Wards area to let her use the shower in your room and get cleaned up while we wait for her father to get here. This is already shaping up to be a long night."
"So since nothing is being discussed you kicked the medics out for no reason?" Alucard smirked.
"It's cathartic." Piggot grumbled. "It's either this or shoot you in the dick for a few hours."
"Kinky."
[January,21 2011 Saturday Brockton Bay, Director's office floor PRT building. 9:35 pm.]
Director Piggot hung up the phone with enough force to bounce a number of other things off her desk.
She took a deep breath and let it out.
"Director?" Armsmaster asked, the avatar of Dragon blinking on a tablet the blue armored man carried.
"The moment I said the name Hebert, Blackwell went on a five minute rant about how she was a delinquent troublemaker who was known to stage things for attention." Emily stated.
There was silence for a moment as that was processed.
"With the photos of the scene there is no way she could have..." Armsmaster began.
"I KNOW THAT, everything that woman said sounded like a preteen cartoon villain's rant... sorry." Emily exhaled, apologizing for snapping at the man. "Here's what is going to happen. Dragon are you willing to help out with this?"
"Of course Director, what did you need me to do?"
"I am authorizing a full investigation using any means necessary into this situation. I want every document, every computer , every camera in that building searched and checked, Armsmaster I want you to head down there and secure the site, if any one so much as sets foot in that school before we are done I want them held for questioning.
According to Hebert she was in that locker since Friday afternoon. Druid pointed out there was damage enough to her heart that she likely had a heart attack while she was in there.
Get a full Hazmat team over to the site go over it with a fine tooth comb, run out any local police as well, this is now a cape matter. I want to know EVERYTHING before her father gets here with whatever folders she asked him to bring with him. Dragon if need be, hack the systems in that school to get the files, also bring Mouse Protector along as well bring her up on the situation and if any one shows up tell her that she gets to the be the one to question them."
"You want Mouse Protector to interrogate people?" Armsmaster sucked in a breath.
"Director that is a violation of the Sommor's Rock treaty."
"Did I sign it?"
"No. Director meadows did." Dragon offered
"And she's dead. Also if Mouse Protector suggests something, check it out, I want a by the book, and off the wall investigation into this until I find the truth and I especially want to find out who and how this happened. I want some ones head for this Armsmaster. Figuratively or literally at this point. Keep me updated on what you find, but get out there as soon as you can, there's a squad there now for backup if you need it an forensics will accompany you."
"Yes Director."
[January,21 2011 Saturday Brockton Bay, Wards Area, PRT building. 10:15 pm.]
"Explain." Director Piggot stated her gaze shifting between the snarling visage of Taylor Hebert frozen in place at Clockblocker's touch and the collapsed heap of Shadow Stalker on the floor where Druid had gotten to her before she could counter attack, though there was a crossbow bolt stuck in the roof, it did seem the tranq type at least.
A squad of troopers, a medical team, and Miss Militia stood in the room , though there didn't seem to be a point as Clockblocker kept his hand on Taylor's arm to freeze her if she moved and Druid was on standby over Shadow Stalker, who had a temporary mask put on her face for some reason, her normal one was on the floor across the room.
"They know each other, " Druid explained.
"And clearly they are not friends." Clockblocker added. "So that really is proof that she knows Stalker."
"Druid, Militia, take Shadow Stalker down to medical and keep her there. Clockblocker step back once they're out and get clear, everyone else be ready to foam her if she remains hostile." Emily Piggot sighed and the mentioned trio moved out along with the medical team with Stalker. "Hopefully her father will be here soon."
"If you don't mind director I'm going to sit over there actually. If she comes out of this and is surrounded by faceless minions armed to the teeth she might have more issue." Clockblocker offered. "She at least knows I'm friendly and if she does come after me I can freeze her again."
Emily looked over to Clockblocker as some of the troopers grumbled about the 'minion' comment. She really needed to reevaluate some of the people she worked with.
"Right, stay back over there and make sure you are talking the moment she wakes up to calm her down. If she comes after you, she's getting foamed. This whole situation is a cluster fuck." Emily grumbled, heading back out of the Wards area as Clockblocker moved tot he far wall and pulled up a chair.
"So any one know any good jokes while we wait?" Clockblocker grinned under his mask." Or any particularly bad ones?"
January,21 2011 Saturday Brockton Bay, Wards Area, PRT building. 10:37 pm.
"... in summery Director, it seems the top of the locker row was opened as there are tool marks on the bolts holding it in place that were not there on the other locker rows and judging by the mess found along the top everything was dumped in after Miss Hebert was shoved inside the locker.
We found a step ladder and some tools in a utility room at the end of the locker row as well as some detritus that matches the sludge in the locker. Examination of the decay shows mixed results as some of the materials clearly had been left to rot, perhaps before the holidays.
The documented hazards found in the locker include but are not limited to, used female hygiene products, possibly taken from sanitary bins stationed in the girls restrooms of the school. Various food garbage, some of which seems mostly intact despite it all liking to the excessive amount of preservatives within, Mouse Protector has marked that as a basic school lunch program.
Basic garbage of varying types including shredded papers and candy wrappers. There were also traces of raw meat, scraps of chicken and pork with some beef and what appears to be deer going by my scanners. I have assigned several troopers to investigate local butcher shops, particularly any that may do their own slaughtering or work with deer during hunting seasons to find the source.
The bucket placed on top had several holes punched in it in order to leak the slurry of pig blood, urine, and various other unknown liquids and semi solids. There were traces of duct tape glue around the holes leading to speculation that the bucket was prepared ahead of time then placed in the top for a slow leak onto the victim."
"Would you say this was premeditated?"
"Without a shadow of a doubt Director." Armsmaster growled. "We have also detained two employees of the school, a Miss Clauson who is the secretary of Principal Blackwell, and a janitor by the name of Lawrence Jacobs. The former refuses to speak without a lawyer, the latter has happily complained about being called in on his day off to clean up a row of lockers on Blackwell's orders. "
"Has Dragon found anything?"
"Not about Miss Hebert, something that in itself is odd. There are no records at all of anything save her enrollment at the school. She does not even have any grades or test scores on record, no vaccination information or anything else one would expect.
Only that she is here and her emergency contact information for an Annette Hebert. If she were to finish school, or try and transfer there would be no records of anything for her to even apply for a college program or to transfer to a new school.
Dragon says she is hardly the only one without any records kept. In fact the only records that Dragon has found in the database that seem complete are for the various sports teams the school has, nothing for any outstanding academics and only a few other students have any sort of a complete record.
There is something odd with the records keeping here, I have a team going through all the paper records as well. I have also suggested Dragon look into the schools financial records, there is no way that this place has passed any safety checks, many of the doors and windows do not lock or even close properly, and the basic level of hygiene in the school leads me to wonder what Mr. Jacobs even does around the school. "
"Lovely. I knew I didn't like the look of the place when we moved here."
"It seems far worse than that. If this is the state of education in the bay then it is small wonder so many join the gangs." Armsmaster growled. "Without a proper learning environment how can any one progress to a productive member of society?"
Director Piggot hummed at that before she froze and frowned as something occurred to her. "Understood Armsmaster, keep me informed of anything else."
"Yes Director." Armsmaster offered before hanging up.
Emily turned her chair to the computer and brought up a few files finding the one she was looking for.
"Agent Lawrence Brich." Emily muttered. "You were in that school for a year and never reported any issues... Transfer request? Immediately after Hess was moved too. Thank the stars for a paperwork snarl that prevented that. The paperwork for a investigation transfer from another branch would have been annoying."
Picking up the phone again Emily tapped in another number.
After one ring it was picked up and a angry sounding voice answered. "You're going to have to inform my wife why I'm late for dinner director." Major Kaisur growled.
"Major if shit is hitting the fan in the way I think it is, when it's all said and done I expect your wife will be more mad there wasn't more shooting. " Emily stated. "I need you to get a team together and track down Agent Lawrence Birch, there are a large number of questions I need to ask him and he seems to be a flight risk."
"Black bag op?"
"No, just escort him here and throw him in a M/S cell, inform him of nothing and don't give him time to talk to any one or gather anything, if you rip him out of bed so much the better."
"Sure hope he doesn't sleep nude."
"If he does have an agent grab him a pair of pants, but he doesn't touch ANYTHING in his house, I can get a warrant in a few hours, but I want him grabbed now before any one manages to tell him to cover anything up."
"Understood. I'll have a team mobile in five."
Emily hung the phone back up looking up as Renick entered her office.
"Three things director."
"Go ahead."
"One you have subordinates for a reason you do not need to have you fingers in every pie."
"Normally no, but this has potential to be a shit storm along the same lines or worse than the crap that happened up in Boston with Slayer, so I am staying on top of this. What else."
"Taylor Hebert has come out of Clockblocker's stasis and after a moment of some rather interesting effects with insects has calmed down thanks to Clockblocker."
"Good, Shadow Stalker still out?"
"Druid has decided to keep her out until this is all settled, just in case."
"These Wards are genius. And the last thing?"
"Miss De'liss is running late but Danial Hebert is here, along with a rather large selection of folders in a box."
"Send him up to his daughter, put them both in briefing room six, get Miss Militia, Alucard, and Aegis in there and tell Miss De'liss to go there as soon as she gets in the building. Get me the standard NDA form printouts, the Case 13 print outs and a basic Wards package with data sheet 12 ,17, and 22... add 11 in there just to be safe."
"Might I suggest just having a portable printer cart wheeled in. Daniel Hebert is head of the Dock Worker's Union."
"A union man? Great. More cluster fuck. "
"It does seem a night for it." Renick sighed.
