Do not own Dragon Age

13 Harvestmere 9:44 Dragon, Skyhold

Two years fly by. The Inquisition is meeting at Hamalshal for an Exalted Counsil. Solona finally left Skyhold a year after Iliana's birth. She ventured to the Deep Roads, stopped drinking the tea and even tried the Joining again. All tests proved that she was no longer Tainted, and in fact seemed to be immune to the Blight altogether.

She had returned to retrieve Iliana, then traveled to Denerim. King Alistair appointed her as the Royal Magical Advisor to the throne. A position that gave her the freedom to come and go as she pleased, and the opportunity to help the city prosper under her direction. Denerim was quickly catching up to Amaranthine, in terms of greater change to the benefit of the people. She was not well liked by some of the traditionalist Nobles, but the younger ones were following her lead. Helping to guide Ferelden into a new era of prosperity.

Every two months the couple would switch off, coming to visit each other. It was hard on all of them, but they would not abandon their duties.

21 Harvestmere 9:44 Dragon, The Winter Palace

Cullen is kneeling down, petting a mabari, oblivious to anything around him. Solona smirks, before sneaking up behind him, whispering in his ear.

"Hello, my love." she says, amused.

Cullen twists, and tries to stand, but falls over instead. "Maker, Solona! You scared the knickers off me!" he tells her, before chuckling.

Solona helps him up, the two kissing tenderly. The mabari is curious of the woman, sniffing at her hand.

"Not that I'm not enjoying the surprise, but what are you doing here?" Cullen inquires, resting his forehead on hers.

"Alistair asked me to come, to keep Teagan from doing or saying anything stupid." Solona informs him jovially.

"He does seem to be a thorn in the Inquisition's side as of late." Cullen comments, smiling.

"The Inquisition has been in his Arling for three years, doing his job. He is angry, but mostly at himself. If the Inquisition withdraws from the Hinterlands and allows him to take over, then his anger may abate." Solona explains, sympathetically.

"Well maybe if he stepped up, we wouldn't still be in the Hinterlands." Cullen remarks.

"I won't argue that one." Solona quips.

"I've missed you. How is Iliana? Is she here perhaps?" Cullen questions, hopeful.

"I've missed you too. And no. She is back in Denerim, chasing butterflies around the gardens. She is especially attached to Alistair and Elissa's youngest. He even set up a little desk for her, next to his. She is mostly just coloring, but she thinks she is helping." Solona shares, joy radiating from her.

"After the Counsel, I'll retire from the Inquisition. I want to set up a Hospice, for former templars. I want to be able to help them with their Lyrium addiction, a place for them to find comfort and support. Do you think we could set something up?" Cullen requests, optimistic.

"That sounds wonderful. I'll send word to Alistair. We have some land outside the city that would be perfect for such a venture." Solona agrees, "Perhaps when you settle in, we could try for a second born?" she hints seductively.

"I'd try right now, if I didn't think anyone would miss us." Cullen replies, his voice husky.

"Tonight at least? Please." Solona begs, her voice a breathless whisper.

"Tonight. Oh, yes. Tonight." Cullen reassures her, kissing her passionately.

"I thought you were married now Solona?" a male voice interrupts them, perturbed.

Solona pulls away, looking at the source. "Arl Teagan. I am, this is my husband, Cullen." she introduces.

"Cullen Amell, a pleasure to meet you." Cullen extends his hand, waiting.

"Oh, I see. I will leave you two to catch up then." the Arl states, never taking Cullen's hand.

They watch him walk away, Cullen looks at Solona, eyebrow raised.

"He has been married himself for ten years. He has a beautiful wife, and two children. He has been angry since learning of my marriage, to a 'lowly military commander'." Solona informs her husband.

"Well he can be angry all he wants. You are mine, and I am yours. Always." Cullen says, smiling softly.

"And forever." Solona finishes, moving to kiss him again.

They exchange a few more kisses, but temper themselves for the time being.

The discovery of the Qunari soldier and the gaatlok bombs has Solona using another Eluvian to return to Denerim. She sends out ravens to several locations, before returning to the Winter Palace, armed and ready. Talking with first Cullen, reassuring him of their daughters safety, before briefing the Inquisitor. Solona will accompany Ellana in her investigation, being familiar with Eluvians and there use.

Between Ellana and Solona they are able to translate a lot of the elven and qunlat writings they discover in the ruins. Solona is able to decipher the dwarven writing in the Deep Roads. When they come across the chained Dragon. Solona transforms, descending down into the room. Returning to her normal form, she breaks the dragons chains, and destroys the doors trapping it inside. It nuzzles her, before turning to the qunari soldiers, laying waste to their forces. When asked later why Solona freed the dragon, she tells them that all living creatures deserve their chance. Killing something because it is perceived as dangerous, is not right. It's how the Mage-Templar war began. The notion is shocking to Cassandra. She and Solona debate the issue as they continue to investigate.

Solona heals the Inquisitors arm, stopping the bleeding. She can do nothing for the missing hand. Ellana explains to Solona, and her companions, what Solas is, or who he is. But once Ellana announces at the Counsel that the Inquisition will disband, Solona tells Cullen to meet her in Denerim, after his affairs are in order, and not to forget the mabari. They do however spend that night together, not getting very much sleep.

The next day Solona leaves through an Eluvian, it deposit her in a forest glade. A statue of Flemeth is standing nearby. Solona walks up to it, saying a few words in elvish, the stone crumbles away, and the Witch drops to the ground. Solona places an amulet around her neck, and chants a spell in elvish. The amulet glows, and the woman breathes.

"Welcome back, my friend." Solona tells her.

"And so your promise is kept." Flemeth says, smiling softly.

"I would have done it anyway." Solona reassures, helping Flemeth to stand.

"I know. That's why I asked you." Flemeth tells her.

"He has taken the anchor. But He doesn't have enough power yet to accomplish the goal, even with what he took from you." Solona explains.

"And he will find that what he took is not even worth the price of his betrayal." Flemeth states cryptically.

Solona smirks, leading the woman through the Eluvian, taking her to a location deep into uncharted lands. Here the woman can recover. A two year old elven child runs up, hugging Solona around the legs. His soulful blue-grey eyes dance with happiness, seeing his adoptive mother.

"Is that?" Flemeth implies.

"Yes. I hid him here." Solona watches the child play with a few others, "Can you help Abelas watch over him?" she queries.

Flemeth laughs softly, "I so very much wish that you had been my daughter. And it would be a delight to watch over him." she agrees.

Solona smiles, before introducing the boy to Flemeth. Abelas kneels to Flemeth, who asks him to rise. Telling him that she has no title here save for friend. Flemeth looks around, a paradise surrounds them. A sanctuary against the coming storm. A creature that not even Mythal has seen in two thousand years trots into the area, causing the woman to gasp.

"Welcome to Hanal'ghilan." Solona tells her.

"The pathfinder. Fitting." Flemeth remarks.

10 Firstfall 9:44 Dragon, Denerim

Cullen arrives in Denerim a fortnight later. It is late evening, the guards let him pass, one offers to lead the mabari to the kennels. Cullen nods, then heads to his wife's quarters. Soon standing outside a bedroom, he knocks, and when the door opens, he sweeps inside. Solona smiles brightly, before they descend into each others arms. Three months later, they announce that Solona is pregnant with their second child.

Two more are built in different parts of Ferelden, all three become centers of care for templars wanting to withdraw from Lyrium. It has a few hiccups at times, but nothing that can't be remedied.
