"And that was how my Spark awoke… but I could only remember just laying there on the floor, teetering between the real, conscious world and the unconscious Spirit World. Everything just… came out at once upon seeing that room. Everything myself and the other Wesker children had been through, it was just for him to further his goals. But now… I was more driven than ever to see an end to the nightmare that Spencer wishes to place on the world.

Still on the floor of the study room, which had vanished back into a regular room, Wesker slowly came to, his whole body feeling like dead weight. He unconsciously took a breath and faintly realized the water going into his lungs, setting his body into a panic. 'Fuck… no! The spell…!' He tried to activate it once more, but his magic was spent, and more water entered his lungs the more he breathed. As he waited for the inevitable suffocating feeling… it never came.

'What...?' He wasn't choking. He was still alive! But how? His magic was all but gone, so how was he...? He then looked down to his neck to the locket, which was shimmering. '... The locket?' Mustering what physical strength he had, he slowly sat up and looked down, realizing what had happened: The locket saved him. His mother had saved him! Finally, the knowledge of Oceania's artifacts came back to his exhausted mind, and he sighed at his stupidity once more. How could he forget? He was safe as soon as he put on the locket, he just didn't know it until he thought he was going to drown.

'Albert Wesker. Do you hear me speak to you?'

'Wha-... who..?' He thought, his head snapping up in surprise. Who was speaking inside his mind? It was a voice he'd never heard before. It sounded soft, like a mother's tone, yet it held hidden authority.

'I am… The Overseer. The return of magic requires an audience… and a conductor. I am also Oceania's mother. I speak to you, because she, her sisters and I require your help to save this world…'

Save the world...? Wait… SPENCER! She was talking about Spencer! 'If it means taking down that son of a bitch that lords over me, I'm in! I'll do whatever it takes for an opportunity to kill him!' he called back to the voice, fierce determination burning in his tone.

There was brief silence, but Wesker imagined he had just made the woman smile, for he felt a warmth come upon his mind, like someone petting him on the head. Then she replied, 'I am glad you are enthusiastic. Good. Savor that energy. You will need it for what is to come. We must protect the world from the vision that man wishes to create, and you must help us.' Before he could ask who she was, the mental presence was gone, leaving him alone. His strength spent again from sitting up, he leaned against the wall, tired as hell.

"Albert!" The door burst open and in swam Hawke, William and Oceania, the goddess worried for her son and his current state.

"Al, are you alright?!" William hovered at his side as Hawke went into doctor mode, checking him over. "Jesus, we felt that burst from outside the ship!"

"He's fine, but physically drained and his magic core is just about empty. He needs rest. Other than that, he should be fine… although, he looks like he's seen a ghost…" Hawke observed. "What… did you see...?"

"...The Overseer spoke to me… your mother Oceania… she told me that I'm important to her plan to depose Spencer… I couldn't have agreed more…" He said in short breaths.

Oceania's eyes widened at this. "M… Mother spoke to you?! But how…?!" She gasped in shock. How was she able to contact him?! So much time had passed since... that day. She must've been slowly regaining her strength. But the major question was: where was she? But she shook it off for now and turned to Hawke. "Help me get him out of here and back to the palace," she said.

"Right." He picked him up and slinging one of his arms around the back of his neck, swam out of the room with Oceania and William following behind them.

Now back at the palace, Wesker was gently placed on his bed and Oceania would cover him up. "... You did it, Albert. You passed the test," she smiled at him, stroking his hair.

"Yeah… and now we're fast tracked into your mother's plot to murder Spencer~" Hawke gleefully smirked, rubbing his hands together. "I can't wait for an opportunity to take a crack at that old bastard~"

"Wha… What do you mean…? I didn't… I didn't make it out," Wesker managed to say, confused as to why she was saying this. Didn't she say to bring it back to her? But… he blacked out in the room. He looked to Hawke, who looked ready to blurt out why.

"You weren't meant to. All you had to do was show courage. You did. And you also got the treasure, which is now yours by the way. Lucky bastard," Hawke snarked, annoyed that he got nothing.

Wesker's eyes widened at this. He turned to Oceania, who smiled back at him and sat down on the bed. "The test was to see how far you were willing to go, how far you could push yourself. And you did extraordinarily well in that regard. You never gave up, even when the odds were stacked against you. When you felt backed into a corner, you still fought on. Honey, I'm so proud of you. And you should be as well. You earned this rest… and that locket." She then leaned down and kissed his forehead.

"Say, that reminds me… once Wesker is rested, we need to get back to the lab. Not because we have to work, we don't, but because we still need to find a way into that high security room on Level 5… whatever Spencer's hiding in there, we need to see it," Hawke suddenly remembered.

"Of course, Master Hawke." Oceania then took a potion that was on his bedside desk and helped Wesker drink it down. "It's a Dreamless Draught. It'll help you sleep better."

Wesker drank it down and within a minute, he was fast asleep before he could say anything. "... He'll be fine now. In the meantime…" Her hands began to glow seafoam blue. "Time to give him his gift…" Weaving magical threads with her hands, she gently placed her palms on his bare chest and closed her eyes. "... Hawke, take the locket off his neck for a moment while I do this."

He nodded and did so without saying anything. As she began to chant in a language Hawke hadn't heard before, Wesker's whole body began to glow softly in the sea's light. The entire room was filled with the warmth of her magic, illuminating the dimly lit area. William could only watch in awe before whispering to Hawke "What's happening to Wesker?"

"I… actually have no idea…" Hawke said, which was a first. Normally he always had some clue of what was going on, but on this occasion he hadn't the faintest idea.

As the glow brightened a bit more, Oceania began to use one of her pointer fingers to trace her symbol upon the left side of his chest, close to his left shoulder. Then her language switched to English as she continued to chant: "... The way of water has no beginning and no end. The sea is around you and in you. The sea is your home, before your birth and after your death. Our hearts beat in the womb of the world. Our breath burns in the shadows of the deep. Water connects all things, life to death, darkness to light. The sea gives and the sea takes. As I weave my gift into your soul, may the seas forever be at your beck and call. May you always know the oceans are your home. As I speak these words, may the Creator of Magic grace you with her knowledge. As I will it, so mote it be…"

There was a final burst of light and Oceania took her hands off her son, smiling softly. "When he awakens, he shall be a full-fledged Guardian. For now, let's let him sleep." With that, she led the boys out, closing the door behind her.

Hours later, Wesker awoke with a yawn, wearily opening his eyes. Once more, his neck felt light and initially began to hold his breath. But… something told him to stop and calm himself before inhaling lightly. He was still breathing and yet… he was alright, just like before. As he tried to move his legs, he found his lower half not moving. That was odd. Like something had tied them together. Hawke better not have pranked him while he was asleep, or so help him, he was going to choke him out before they get back to the lab. So, he drew back the blanket and…

"What the…!?"

Before him was a black and cyan blue spotted tail in place of his legs. "A… A tail!?" Was this… Was this what Oceania was talking about? Elation slowly filled his heart as he slowly moved it up and down, trying to get a feel for it. He… He did it! He was a Guardian! He recalled his mother talking of the full power of her protectors claiming once they passed her final test. The door opened and in came the other two boys and Oceania.

"Surprise!" The men yelled out happily while Oceania laughed a little.

"Happy birthday, Albert," Oceania says before giving him a big hug. "You did it, son. You're a full Guardian now. Proud of yourself?"

"I am. All of my work and training… it's finally paid off. I'm one step closer to getting my hands on Spencer," Wesker smirked back at her as he embraced her. "... Thank you, Mother, for pushing me and helping me realize what I can truly do."

"Of course… anything for you, my dear son," Oceania grinned as she caressed his cheek. "Now then… how about we give your tail a test drive?"

Wesker nodded before taking her hand and letting her guide him out of the palace. Once outside, he started out slow at first, his movements rather clunky. But soon, he got his pace and rhythm and began to swim about flawlessly, as if he had been doing it all his life. He really did it! His dream had been realized and now he can protect his mother fully. With this power, he can fulfill the promise he made to her all those years ago. As he picked up his pace, he somewhat noticed a current forming around him like a twister. Smirking to himself, he kicked his tail powerfully and took off in a burst of speed, leaving a trail of bubble clouds in his wake.

'This is... unreal!' The speed he could move, it was as if the entire ocean had suddenly gone still. He never felt so... free! It felt like he was flying, his adrenaline shooting through the roof and his excitement along with it.

He sensed movement behind him and spotted his mother behind him. But instead of dainty feet, she now sported her elegant tail and was in her own current with the boys along for the ride. Wesker couldn't help but marvel at the way she moved. Even though she was moving at the same speed he was, she moved with such grace and languidness, he almost became jealous. She got up beside him and reached out for a moment, taking his hand. One look in her eyes and he saw pride, making his own swell. That look spoke volumes to him and that reaffirmed that what he went through to get to this point, it was fucking worth it.

He gave her hand a gentle squeeze before releasing it and looked to his friends/partners. William looked like he was having the time of his life, giddily laughing as he soared in Oceania's generated current. Then, the blond scientist turned to the newly born Guardian and that grin widened, flashing a thumbs up. Wesker nodded back to him before catching Hawke's eye. The muscular male gave a small scoff and Wesker looked ready to snap a bit but stopped when he saw him smirk back at him, tipping his head to him in a sign of respect. Sure, the two didn't get along at times, often ribbing on one another and giving the other shit, but they still had respect for each other. And today, Wesker had earned a little more respect out of him. He didn't think he'd make it this far, but he will admit (albeit reluctantly) he proved him wrong. One thing was for sure, Wesker was one tough son of a bitch. Wesker smirked in return and nodded back, reciprocating the feeling.

Getting an idea, while still moving at top speed, Wesker thrusted out his right hand and threw open a portal. All four of them shot through it and back into the human realm like bullets. Yet, he did not slow down and using the momentum he had rapidly gained, he shot out of the water and soared into the air.

In those brief moments he hung in the air, he drank it in. His newfound freedom, his unshackled emotions, and most importantly, he now had his mother at his side, ready to bring down Spencer and his dark legacy. Around his body, a veil of cyan blue light shined brightly in response to his emotions, and his magic flew freely around him, mirroring his delight and now brightly burning soul. Finally, gravity took him back and doing a few twists as he fell, he dolphin dived back into the water with a splash. His chest heaved with pants, a wild look in his eyes and sporting a grin on his face as he floated there. In all of his life, he felt incomplete, just another drone under Umbrella's thumb. It had been droll up until this point. And all it took for his emotions to be freed was a remarkable woman.

No, a goddess.

His goddess.

His mother, something he had longed for since he was a child after he was ripped from his real one.

Her words, her guidance, her acceptance of him, they were the keys to his tightly sealed heart, which had been locked up by the old man's machinations. Righting himself once more with a flick of his tail, he and the others swam to the surface and swam towards a small alcove, out of any human sight. He pulled himself onto some rocks as Oceania did the same, followed by William and Hawke.

"That... That was amazing!" William panted as he pushed his sopping wet hair out of his face.

"That was the first time I got to ride one of your currents, Lady Oceania. Gotta say, that was fucking awesome," Hawke grinned at her, making the goddess giggle.

"Thank you, Master Hawke." Then she turned to her son, who was now staring at the setting sun, a smirk playing on his lips. Sliding down to his side, she placed a hand to his shoulder, to which he rested one of his own on top of it. "You did it, Albert."

"Yes... and soon, Spencer will know this prince's power," Wesker says, his eyes almost gleaming in the remaining sunlight.

"To think such a thing as magic could ever exist. I was raised in the mindset that science overcame anything and something like this was just fantasy, something that had no place in the world. But you know what?" William then turned to the others. "I want this in my life. I'm sick and tired of the monotony of our work, of working myself to the bone, all for some old man to take all the credit! I want THIS! To be part of something greater! After experiencing what I have over the last months, I want to help in any way I can. I may not have magic like you, Wesker, or you Hawke, but I want to do my part somehow. Just tell me what to do and I'll do it!" He proclaimed with passion, his voice rising slightly.

"I never claimed to have any special skill or magic..." Despite saying this, something about the look in Hawke's eyes suggested that he was hiding something.

"Oh, come now, Master Hawke. You revealed that you were raised by my sister and exposed to her magic. Why not just come out and say it?" Oceania would smile a bit.

"She may have... helped... raise me, but I possess no magic of my own. And she did nothing to support me... leave it at that." Hawke retorted, with a trace of anger in his voice.

The three of them went silent after that, knowing that she was a sore subject. So, for now, they just enjoyed the sunset together as Oceania leaned her head on Albert's shoulder while the waves rushed around the outcrop of rocks they sat on. Wesker took in the smell of the sea air before letting it out slowly. Here, in the sea, he felt at peace. He felt truly at home. He finally found his place in the world. But another thought soon intruded on the blissfulness, one finally spoken by Hawke.

"Now that you got your Guardian powers, we'll need to head back and start planning our next move. We can't waste this opportunity while it's hot."

"Right." Wesker's face settled back into that calm, collected mask he was known for. He turned to his mother, his eyes softening for a moment before the two embraced. "I intend to keep my promise to you, my lady. But Hawke is right. The more we can keep the old man in the dark, the better. And right now, we need to seize it while we can."

Oceania would nod in understanding before pecking his cheek. "I understand, my son. If we are to truly keep our home safe, that man must not be allowed to live any longer. He is a monster, one that needs to be put down as quickly as possible," she spoke with an equally determined expression in her soft ocean blue eyes. "And I know you'll do me proud." Then she turned to the other two boys. "Please be careful, you two."

"You got nothing to worry about. We got this," Hawke nodded back with that smug look.

"You can count on us, Lady Oceania. We'll do whatever we can to make sure your presence is kept secret," William chimed in. "Again, I may be human, but that won't stop me from doing what needs to be done."

"I thank you. Now then, you'd best be off, you lot. You have a lot to get done," Oceania says as she and the boys slide back into the water.

With Hawke and William taking deep breaths once more, they all plunged under the surface and swam back into the portal, only for Wesker to open the one that led back to his room. The first two swam through the portal as Wesker lingered for a moment more. He turned back to face her, giving her one more nod, now sporting that signature smirk.

"When this is all over, Spencer won't know what hit him until it's too late. This, I swear." With a flick of his tail, he vanished back into the portal and it shut behind him.

"... Good luck, you three. Especially to you, my son." A graceful turn and Oceania swam back for her palace.

"As I left the Endless Ocean, I was filled with a burning determination, now more than ever, to bring Spencer and Umbrella down. A monster like him couldn't live on this Earth. Monsters like him had to be put in the dirt. With Mother and Hawke at my side… my fight with Spencer had only just begun…

Look out, old man. You will know the wrath of the seas. And you will soon know the power of the Sea Prince."
