It was the first night that Lillian stayed over at his place. They had gone to the bedroom, where they unexpectedly started a second round of intimacy. Just before sunrise was when they were finally spent. When they quickly discovered his twin bed was too narrow for them to sleep in together, they pulled the blanket and pillows to the floor, curled up, and fell asleep in each other's arms.
It wasn't until she woke up at 10 o'clock that morning when she reached a rude awakening: she was late for work. She was going to have to figure out a logical excuse for not being there on time. With a hurried goodbye to a lethargic Eddie, she hurried out of the trailer and drove home. Thankfully, her dad had already gone to work. Not that she had to explain herself to him; she was pretty much a grown woman at this point. However, she knew he was likely curious as to why she never came home last night.
After getting herself the fastest shower that she had ever taken in her life (it certainly didn't help her sore neck that she developed overnight), she got herself dressed and hurried off to work. Patty's Crafts was right down the street, only seven minutes up the road, but that didn't save her from a lecture from the manager on duty. At the counter, Patty herself was drumming her long, purple fingernails on the countertop. This was the first time that Lillian had been late for work in the six months that she even working there. She liked to think that maybe her boss would cut her some slack.
Thankfully, one verbal warning was what she got. She most certainly learned her lesson. The campaign had gone on a lot later than she anticipated, but the episode that followed didn't help matters.
Lillian sleepily recalled last night rendezvous with Eddie. Despite everything, she would have done it all over again.
As she was nearly two hours late this morning, she volunteered to make up the time by staying later. This seemed to smother Miss Patty's fire. Around three in the afternoon, just before Lillian was getting ready to take her lunch break, the phone at the register began to ring. It wasn't the first time today. It was the third phone call, likely another customer that wanted to know about a certain product that they might sell.
"Thank you for calling Patty's Crafts, how can I help you?"
"I'm your turbo lover!"
There was only one individual in this whole world that would be serenading her out of the blue with Judas Priest.
Oh, my God...
"Eddie? What are you doing, you goofball? I'm at work!"
"Tell me there's no other!"
She couldn't hold herself back from a giggle, but her trying to be discreet wasn't easy. Patty was around the corner in the next aisle, assisting a customer with yarn.
"Seriously, I can't talk right now."
Breaking his goofy character, Eddie chuckled. "I just wanted to say I'm sorry for being so out of it this morning. Late night and all, you know?"
"Gee," she said with a lingering smile. "I wonder why."
"When do you get off?"
"7:30." She kept her voice to a whisper.
"You were supposed to give me a dirty response."
"Eddie, you pervert!" She realized she had raised her voice a little bit, and leaned over the counter to make sure that Patty was still occupied with her guest. Once again, she dropped the volume. "You know I can't talk like that right now."
Thank goodness there was no one else near her that could overhear the conversation.
"What can I say? All I've been able to think about all day is the things I want to do to you."
"Eddie..." her voice was warning, but quickly faltering, and her grip felt sweaty around the phone receiver. Then, she remembered that his uncle was supposed to return home tonight. There wasn't a very good chance that they would be able to visit each other this evening. "Don't torture me."
"Aww, Lily. I promise I'll make it worth the wait."
"How about I call you later this evening, and we'll continue this conversation?"
"Oh yeah, you got it." The energy in his voice caused her to crack a grin.
"Bye now."
Lillian inhaled deeply. The next few hours were going to be torment. When lunch time finally came, it allowed her a few minutes to recuperate. At least she had something to look forward to this evening, but it caused time to drag slowly. As 7:15 rolled around, her replacement at the register had walked in the door. By then, Patty had already left for the day. Lillian politely asked if she could go ahead and clock in early since she was there, which allowed her to sneak out the door a few minutes earlier than anticipated.
As she pulled up into the driveway of her home, she was only slightly disappointed to see her dad's vehicle was already parked in the open garage. He wouldn't be gone again until Thursday evening. Four days without seeing Eddie seemed almost impossible.
"Long day at work?" Her dad asked that she came into the house. He looked like he was cleaning a few things out of the refrigerator, tossing out an old jar of mayonnaise and some moldy bread that had been sitting in there since the War of 1812.
"Yeah," she replied simply. her first thought was to run upstairs and make her phone call, but who knew how long that would take? While her father knew about her relationship with Eddie (not that he was thrilled about it when he first discovered it, because he never forgot that he swore to end that rascal - now, because Eddie Munson was dating his daughter, Randy Ross was forced to be polite) after the first few months, it seemed he learned to stop biting his tongue and was a little more genuine. She briefly wondered how he might react if he knew his little girl had just lost her virginity the night before.
"Did you want me to make you something to eat?" she offered. Her dad being a real estate agent, he tended to travel a lot, and she understood that sometimes he did not always have time to keep himself nourished. After her mom had passed away, Lillian voluntarily took it upon herself to cook and clean around the house. Not that Lisa Ross did a very good job at keeping on either of those.
"No, sweetheart." Her father gave her an appreciative smile. "I already grabbed something on the way home. There's an extra chicken sandwich in case you wanted one. It's on the bottom shelf." He patted a plastic box that sat on the shelf he indicated to, then closed the fridge door.
"Thanks, dad."
"I have a few phone calls to make, so I'll be tied up for a couple of hours."
At this, her heart sank a little, but she tried to hide that disappointment from her face. No doubt, whatever phone calls he had were work-related and more important than the one she had hoped to make. They really needed to find a way to make it so that multiple people could be on the phone at the same time!
Trying to practice patience, Lillian went ahead and helped herself to the sandwich. As she did, she flipped on the local news. For a change, it was nice to not have to hear about strange deaths and murders. A lot of people had started talking about Hawkins being a cursed town. Between Jim Hopper, Billy, and a number of teenagers that had been either missing or killed, it was actually a relief when the worst thing you heard about on the news was a robbery at a drugstore.
At some point, Lillian had dozed off, even though it was only for about half an hour. With the lack of sleep followed by a long day at work, she was feeling pretty beat.
It was almost 9:00 now. Throwing away the trash, Lillian tried to hone her ears to see if her dad was still on the phone. The house seemed quiet, and so Lillian tiptoed up the stairs to investigate further. The light to the study was still on, but she could hear the scribbling of pen on paper. She thought maybe she might check on him before retiring to her bedroom.
Poking her head in the doorway, she gave him a sleepy smile. "Still working?"
"All done with phone calls, but I have a bunch of showings tomorrow to put on my calendar... I'm completely booked." He sighed, then looked at her "I didn't know that the Cox family had moved out down the street. They didn't even say goodbye."
"Wow, really?" The Cox family had a nice house. Two stories, five bedrooms, a little over 3,000 square feet. It was similar to the house that they lived in. It was bound to be a house everyone would want to look at. "Well, that sounds rough. Don't stay up too late. Baggy eyes won't help sell that house!"
Speak for yourself," he responded with a smile. "You look tired. Go get some sleep."
"Love you, dad."
"Love you, too."
With that, Lillian continued further down the hallway until she reached her bedroom. He would still be up for a while, which meant she was going to have to hold off on calling Eddie until the coast was clear.
Closing the door quietly behind her, she got herself changed into a cream colored, silk nightdress before climbing into bed. She found herself reading an erotic novel, which did not help her already stirring estrogen. She needed to keep herself awake, but why was she torturing herself? On occasion, she listened for any sounds of footsteps outside of her bedroom door that would indicate that her father was going to bed. It was nearly 10:30 once she finally heard them. ashe gave it another half an hour before she would quietly crack open the door. The faint sound of snoring from behind the closed, bedroom door assured her that her time had come. Closing the door once again, she all but jumped for the phone at her bedside. Eddie had always told her that his uncle was a heavy sleeper, so they were never worried about waking him up with the phone ringing.
Three rings in, and her heart was a steamhammer against her chest. By the fifth ring, she was starting to worry that maybe she had called too late. Had Eddie already fallen asleep? Then suddenly, the sixth ring stop short.
"Yellow?"
Yep. That was Eddie all right.
"Ah, so, the dragon has not yet fallen into his slumber."
"Aha! But he has to guard the grand treasure in his den. You won't catch him off guard so easily, my lady."
In the background, she thought she could hear him picking away at his guitar. He might not have had it hooked up to an amplifier at the time, but she could still hear some of the notes of the strings.
"You're not tired yet, are you?"
"Not by a long shot."
"Good, because I have a few strings that your fingers could be playing with right now."
A velvety smooth hum came from the other end of the line. "Now, that's more like it." She could no longer hear his guitar, which led her to assume that he had put it down. All of his attention was on her now. "But there's something I need to know, Dragon Queen Lillian. Are you all bark, or are you going to do battle with the dragon again?"
Did that mean he wanted to meet somewhere? She hoped it did. "I accept your challenge. Name the place."
"Skull Rock. Under the midnight moon, we will brawl again, and the dragon will show you what happens when you play with fire."
Lillian was already out of her bed, and in a husky tone, she solidified the deal. "I look forward to it." She hung up, bolting for her wardrobe to pick out something else to wear. Slipping into a black dress with a floral print, she took her car and drove down the road.
Skull Rock. She knew where it was, of course. She had been there a time or two to meet up with Eddie, but this was a bit of a different scenario. To start, they never came here at night before. It was a hot spot for teenagers to sneak off and make out, but the two of them clearly had other intentions to thoroughly taint its reputation.
It didn't take long for her to get there. She admitted to herself that she might have jumped the gun a little. It was only thirty minutes before midnight. So, she shut off the headlights and turned on some Motley Crue on low volume.
She was antsy, waiting for the final, few minutes of the night until she heard a slam from behind her. Her body spun around, but there was nothing there. She held her breath, reaching for a crowbar that had been sitting in her backseat. There was no telling for sure if that was her boyfriend just messing around, or if someone else was here to hurt her.
She sat, stiffened in silence, heart racing against her chest. turned the key towards her to cut the engine in the music. As she slowly pulled the handle on the car door, it opened, and she gradually lifted herself from inside the car. "Eddie?" she called out cautiously. "If that's you, you can knock it off."
She looked towards the back end of the car. There seemed to be no sign of anyone there.
Then, there was a loud sound behind her, like a man-made roar as she was pushed against the car. She hadn't even had time to react. She cried out, but was quick to realize it was only her devilish lover that had come up behind her to antagonize her.
"Eddie, you asshole!" She was squeezing the crowbar, knuckles as white as flour. "That isn't funny!"
"Don't play with fire, and you won't get burned." His hands took the crowbar, gently pushing it up against her stomach, pinning her between it and himself. In turn, he would sway, almost if he was making her dance to the sound of the crickets chirping in the woods.
"Dearly noted,"she exhaled. Having gotten over the scare fairly quickly, she turned herself around to face him with a smile. "I guess I am but a moth to the flame."
Looking victorious, Eddie pulled away from her, and gave her a moment to collect her car keys and lock up the Ford before they took their two-minute walk into the woods, holding one another's hands. It didn't take long to reach the notorious landmark that was Skull Rock. Thankfully, Eddie was smart enough to bring a flashlight, as well as a few other things that he had tucked away in a backpack that he was carrying over his shoulder. Once they reached their destination, he reached into the bag, pulling out a couple of blankets and setting them on top of one of the boulders. A hint of the almost-full moon could be seen glistening its reflection on Lover's Lake. If Lillian recalled, last night had been a full moon, but they couldn't see it because of the storm that had rolled through. Tonight was different, as everything about it was quiet and pristine. For now.
Eddie gave the two of them a bit of mood lighting with a lantern, setting it on the ground close by. Then, they sat down on top of their platform, and he wrapped his arm around her. They were given just enough elevation on the rock that they could better see the lake beyond the trees.
"So, how was work?" he asked her.
"Dull, at first." She rested her head against his shoulder, and she could smell his leather jacket. She grinned a little. "And then some weirdo called the store trying to serenade me... don't know who he was."
"Oh," he replied, feigning deep interest. "Sounds like you have an admirer. Someone I should be concerned about?"
"Hm, I don't know. He definitely left a lasting impression. I couldn't stop thinking about him all day."
"Funny you should say that," he responded, his tone changing a bit. "When I was playing with the guys, all I could think about was last night."
"All good things, I hope?"
His voice suggested so, but somehow, she just wanted to hear him say it just for solidity.
"Definitely."
She felt his arm encircle her waist, and he pulled her into a gentle kiss. Lillian melted into it, her hands finding his curls and brushing through them. Unable to keep down her libido, she eagerly permitted him to lay her down on the blanket, which she was glad he had taken to bringing, otherwise the giant rock would be digging into her back. The silence around them only allowed their breathing and whispers to elevate, and once things really got heated, she fought to keep quiet.
Not that it was likely that anyone would be out here at this time of night, but she didn't want to take the chance of getting caught. Nonetheless, the thrill was exhilarating.
Eddie, who clearly was feeling more bold since the night before, slid his hand up her medium-length dress. He wasted no time finding her center with his fingers, as if he had every intention to accept her invitation from earlier. She gasped, and as his skilled fingers went to work, the smaller breaths evolved into moans that she was still trying to keep hushed.
"Eddie..." she whispered, painted nails clutching at denim and leather. "Don't stop..."
His smiling response made her melt. "You'll wish you hadn't said that... because I could do this all night."
A pair of digits slid inside of her, deep enough that she could feel the coolness of his metal rings against her skin. He hovered over her as he stimulated her, leaving Lillian to writhe and twitch beneath him until her body was ready to give in. He seemed perfectly satisfied with just making her come. As she shuddered from the overwhelming, paramount pleasure, she watched as he sampled the juices from his hand. Under the faint glow of the lantern, her cheeks flushed a bright pink. She didn't even know if he could see it, but he had that same glint of satisfaction in his eyes as if he was eating figs and her front yard again.
"What sweet music you make."
As their rendezvous continued in the solitude of the forest, a reddish, violet haze brushed over the night sky, giving an ethereal glow to the surface of Lover's Lake, and further in the distance, there was a spark of lightning that neither of them seem to notice.
