"Happy two-month anniversary!" Two months. It had been two months since Miles and I started dating. Time has just flown by; he and I were getting closer each and every day, and I was falling for him- hard.

Miles peered over to where I sat at the vanity in my room. He had just changed his shirt and was doing up the buttons when he gazed to me in surprise. Smiling, I opened one of the white drawers with gold handles to pull out this little box. Then I beckoned him forward as he eyed the box curiously.

"This is for you. Happy anniversary, sweetheart," my grin intensified. Giving me a perplexed glance, he carefully took the box from me; I took care to wrap it up all nice and cute, with a pink ribbon on top. It was my turn to watch as he opened it, his eyes enlarging once he removed the cover.

Taking great care with his finger movements, he proceeded to take out this silver bracelet. Studying it intently, he held it up for a closer look, and I smiled again. "Do you like it? I got it from that one store in the mall; the one that specializes in men's jewellery. We can have the size adjusted if it's too big or small. I tried my best to get the perfect fit, but you'll have to try it on to see." He didn't respond, still staring at the bracelet in front of his face, cradling it with his other hand. I looked at him a tad anxiously, relaxing my shoulders a bit. "D-Do you like it?" I asked.

Only then did he look back at me…. and smile. He leaned down to give my cheek a kiss and I giggled happily. "I guess that's a "yes"," and he nodded. Miles held the bracelet out for me to take alongside his other wrist. "You want me to put it on?" Again his head nodded and I didn't hesitate to oblige. My estimations were right; the fit was perfect, like a glove. And it sure looked good on him. He seemed to agree, lifting his arm up for a better look a second time. My boyfriend was still smiling as he did so. Grinning myself, I gently shut my eyes. "I'm so glad you like it. That can be a promise bracelet if you want."

He glanced to me, raising an eyebrow in confusion. Ah, maybe they don't have promise rings or bracelets where he's from; makes sense. "It's like a promise you make to stay together; to be faithful to each other. Wearing that bracelet shows the world that you're promised to someone else, if that makes sense…. I-It doesn't have to be a promise bracelet if you don't want it to be! It was just an idea! I won't be upset if you don't want it to be. What's important is that you like it; that's all," I suddenly felt the need to tack on. I didn't want to pressure him into anything; it had only been two months, after all. I wanted him to make that level of commitment when he was ready- only when he was ready.

Miles glanced back at his bracelet, then at me again. Wearing this sudden brilliant smile, he softly, sincerely nodded his head. His face looked so happy, so ecstatic in that moment. My back perked up a little in comprehension. "Y-You want it to be a promise bracelet?" He nodded with such authenticity that I thought my heart might explode. My lips trembled as I mirrored his loving expression, nodding my head in total agreement. "Alright then…. It's a promise bracelet- a promise to be with each other for the foreseeable future." And he kissed my forehead, reaching his hand around to press against the back of my head. Our eyes were both shut momentarily until Miles's fluttered his back open. His face had this twang of remorse all of a sudden, and I leaned back from him a bit.

"What's wrong?" He pointed to his bracelet, then at me. It took me a second, but I figured out was he meant. "You want me to have one too? Is that it?" He nodded, not taking his stare off me. His hand lowered down from my head to my shoulder, resting on it tenderly. Wanting to comfort him, I tried to give him a reassuring glance, tilting my head to side slightly. "It's ok. I don't need one; I gave you your promise bracelet. I wouldn't have suggested that it be one if I wasn't willing to promise myself to you. No, I'm your girl, Miles….

You never have to worry about that."

Miles stared into my eyes for a long moment, clearly thinking things over. He removed his hand from me, and to my surprise he reached into his pocket to pull out a key I've never seen before. This was his only possession it appeared to be; the only thing he had on his person that first day we met.

It was one of those old-fashioned keys; like really old-fashioned, with two teeth. It was a brass key with a skinny base. The top had a tiny ruby on one side. Below it was the initials "M.M." engraved in cursive. On the back was the number "06" in the same style as the Ms. Miles took the key, and then reaching into my jewellery container- which was just a large shell- pulled out this thin sliver chain. I quietly, curiously observed as he threaded the chain through the brass keyhole, effectively transforming it into a makeshift necklace. My eyes widened when he next put it around my neck, doing the clasp to keep it in place. In a bit of a state of shock, my fingers rose to touch it, myself gazing into the mirror and then back at him astonished. Miles, for his part, grinned down at me, rubbing the back of his fingers on my left cheek.

"A-Are you giving this to me?" He nodded in confirmation before pointing to his bracelet, and then immediately to the key. I understood instantly, stroking the key again. "I see. This is your promise heh, necklace to me. This is my promise to you?" And once more, he nodded, affectionally closing his eyes for a second. I giggled in utter, profound delight, squeezing the key in my hand; my fingers and palm wrapped around it protectively….. possessively. My eyes lifted up and met his again.

"Thank you, Miles. I'll keep this forever. So long as I'm wearing this necklace, I'll be yours," and I had no intention of ever taking it off. He chuckled, shutting those beautiful eyes of his yet again, and leaned his forehead in to rest against mine. We breathed simultaneously, in pure, unadulterated, unwavering contentment. Miles's thumb came up to stroke my cheek repeatedly as we kept our heads pressed together like that. He sighed and I shut my eyes, never being happier in my life.

My lips opened a tad after a long, long moment of perfect silence between the two of us. "I'm yours and you're mine….." I breathed and he let out another sweet sigh. My hand raised up to cover his as he cradled my face so tenderly. This intense, genuine smile rolled across my face, naturally so. "I didn't know it was possible to feel this way about someone…. We've only known each other for a little over three months, but you already are so incredibly important to me. I don't know what force caused you to walk into my life…. but I'm so thankful. Thank you for being my boyfriend, Miles; I feel like the luckiest girl in the universe. You are the best thing that's ever happened to me."

Miles grinned, slowly reopening his lovely eyes. He looked at me, effortlessly so….. His lush lips parted, and his thumb stroked my skin again. "Promise me," he spoke, and of course the number on his wrist changed from "5" to "3". Staring up at him, beholding him so emotionally, so lovingly….. "I promise you, Miles. I'm not going anywhere. I'm yours….. I promise you that I'm all yours, sweetheart." His head leaned back over to kiss me….. A kiss that made me believe I had died and gone to heaven…..

And had met their most beautiful angel.
