Chapter 6: A Regretted Report
Jothan stood within the dimly lit cockpit of his starship, the gentle hum of machinery filling the air around him. His fingers danced over the control panel as he initiated the holographic communication system. Before him, a holographic projection of Rey, the head of the Jedi Order, shimmered into existence. Her brow furrowed slightly, her expression a mix of curiosity and concern.
"Jothan, you're transmitting from your starship. What news do you have that couldn't wait until your return to the temple?" Rey's voice carried a sense of urgency, a reflection of her position as a leader facing the challenges of a galaxy in turmoil.
Jothan's gaze met Rey's holographic projection, his own expression a blend of seriousness and determination. "Rey, I regret to inform you that the situation I encountered on a planet named Pitaki Primary is graver than any of us two could imagine."
Rey's holographic form leaned forward slightly, her eyes locking onto Jothan's. "Graver? What did you discover?"
As the holographic projection flickered with a soft blue luminescence, Jothan began to recount his findings on Pitaki Primary. He spoke of the planet's occupation by Sith sympathizers, their sinister plans to expand their influence, and their base in the capital city of Tipton. Each word he spoke seemed to deepen Rey's concern, the gravity of the situation becoming more and more apparent.
"Once I discovered where the signal was coming from I followed it to discover a planet that was not in our archives, worst of all was that a giant ship was above it, I found out that it belongs to Sith sympathizers who have not only taken control of Pitaki Prime," Jothan's voice held a somber tone, "but they are also plotting to extend their dominion over other planets, fueled by the dark side of the Force."
Rey's holographic gaze grew more intense, her expression a mixture of worry and determination. "This is a dire revelation, Jothan. The galaxy has seen its share of darkness, but their intentions pose a grave threat. What actions do you propose we take?"
Jothan's resolve shone in his eyes as he continued to speak. "Instead of a full-scale invasion with Republic forces, I propose a more focused strategy. I aim to assemble a team of fourteen skilled individuals who together with me can challenge the sympathizers within a wave maze they intend to construct. By defeating them in a trial of their own design, we can show that their malevolence can be defeated right then and there."
Rey's holographic projection regarded Jothan with a mixture of admiration and caution. "A wave maze is not a simple challenge, my friend. The allure of the dark side can be deceiving even to the strongest among us. Are you confident this is the best course of action?"
Jothan met Rey's holographic gaze without hesitation. "I understand the risks, Rey. But facing them head-on within their own trial may undermine their plans and reveal their weaknesses. If we can succeed where they expect to thrive, we might disrupt their ambitions significantly."
Rey's holographic form remained thoughtful, her expression a blend of concern and determination. "Your commitment to seeking alternatives is commendable, Jothan. Assembling a team for this trial will be challenging, but I trust your judgment in selecting individuals who can overcome this trial. The Jedi Order stands with you in this endeavor."
Jothan's heart lifted with a sense of purpose, a reassurance that he wasn't alone in this mission. "Thank you, Rey. I am prepared to see this through, and I'll choose my team with great care."
Rey's holographic image softened into a reassuring smile. "May the Force guide you, Jothan. The future of Pitaki Prime depends on you. Be unwavering, and know that the Jedi Order supports your journey."
As the holographic projection faded, leaving Jothan in the quiet of his starship's cockpit, he carried with him a renewed sense of determination. The wave maze awaited, its challenges symbolizing the opportunity to vanquish the darkness threatening a part of the galaxy. And with the support of the Jedi Order, Jothan's conviction burned brighter than ever.
