Bluey and Bingo had always been very close when they were younger. They would play games together with their parents, one big happy family. It was all Bingo could remember, how fun it was to be a child again.
Ever since Bluey started High School, she grew more distant as she needed more time for herself. You can't blame her, she must have had it tough. Bingo didn't know what kind of world was waiting for her.
The next year after, Bluey had asked for her own room. Bingo remembered the first time Bluey wanted her own room, it always ended up with them together. I guess not anymore.
Bingo would be starting High School soon, she would finally get to see what made Bluey become so different. It was her first time in this new environment, She wasn't sure exactly what to feel, all she knew at the moment was to get through it. It didn't feel the same ever since Lila moved away.
Bingo would occasionally notice Bluey with her friend group at school. Bluey was different, somehow. All Bingo could think about was how to rebuild her relationship with her sister. Maybe if Bingo did well in school, Bluey would finally notice her. Yeah, that might work. She thought to herself.
Bingo would later on win prizes, titles, and awards, but it only made Bluey more distant. She doesn't know what to do, all she can do is wait and see if her actions will produce meaning.
After a few more years, Bluey barely even had time to talk to her sister. She would only have time for her when the family would be together eating dinner, even then most of the time she eats alone in her room. It felt like Bluey was avoiding her now, Bluey became more passive when it came to her sister. It was as if she were talking to an annoying coworker she didn't like.
Bingo can only hope to fix what should've been a sister bond that lasts forever.
Bluey was always the more proactive sister, she wanted to get things done. She would always give her best, no matter the situation. When she would later move on to High School, it almost broke her. What she didn't realize was when you try your hardest, your falls will be just as hard.
She had tried her best, but her best wasn't good enough. She was not okay, but she had to put on a brave face, for her sister. She can't be discouraged, she has to present herself as strong as she can, so that her sister may not think lowly of her.
It would get continuously harder to fake a smile when Bingo always wanted to hang out. She finally decided to go get her own room again, and this time it was permanent. She would still miss her sister, but she felt it would be better for the both of them.
Somewhere in Bluey's mind was secretly hoping Bingo would fail. The idea was that she couldn't do better than Bluey so that she could comfort her little sister. It would make her feel less of a disappointment. But only time will tell.
Bingo would start going to High School soon, Bluey was nervous for her sister, but she was anticipating something. What would Bingo do? Was Bluey just useless? Is it something only she would struggle with? If you asked her, she couldn't tell you an answer. She would only walk away.
Bingo would only continue to have pretty normal experiences in High School, Bluey couldn't notice since she was still struggling with her own problems. Maybe she shouldn't have started dating at 16 so that she could focus on her studies. But that only added more to her workload. She barely had any time for the family. She would lock herself in her room to either cry or work on some new project.
After sorting out most of her problems, she could finally breathe. She can have a normal day at school with her friends, just hanging out and talking. No work, no worries, no stress. Then she saw Bingo looking in her direction, She looked worried or concerned but it quickly dissipated. She wasn't sure what to do, she practically ghosted her sister for a year. It felt awkward to talk to her, even if she wasn't busy.
Later on, Bingo would find many successes where Bluey had failed, it was as if Bingo didn't need Bluey. Bluey grew jealous of Bingo.
How come Bluey's best was Bingo's worst? I did my best and got nothing. Bluey thought.
Bluey hoped that Bingo would fail so they could fail together, but now it's different. Bingo had everything Bluey wanted. Because of these intrusive thoughts, she had forgotten why she had done this in the first place. Bluey had forgotten that all of this was for Bingo's sake.
Now she couldn't even think straight. It was always about Bingo. Bluey was living in her sister's shadow. She can't feel happy for her because she had done her part, but she wasn't recognized. She was just as great, but no one noticed. Maybe she tried too hard.
She didn't know what to do, neither of them did.
As Bluey and Bingo drifted to sleep, they awoke in a seemingly vivid dream. They do share the dream, but they wouldn't find each other.
