The next day, Clarisse's body was found in the lunchroom. Percy was horrified. When the police asked who was the last to see her, Percy shared what he remembered from his previous conversation. As he was talking to the police, Percy made brief eye contact with the blonde standing around with everyone else.

Percy had only been at this company for three weeks, and already one of the two friends he'd made was gone. Not even because she found a new job, but instead in a gruesome way. Percy didn't even see the body, so he wasn't sure how she died. Not that Percy should be involved in the investigation in any way - right? So, why did it feel like he should be asking questions about Clarisse instead of answering them?

The company brought in grief counselors, but honestly, Clarisse didn't talk to anyone but Luke, Percy, and maybe Chris.

"Hey Luke, are you thinking of talking to the grief counselors? I feel weird about it. I've only known Clarisse for three weeks, but her death is still pretty shocking. Do you think it would help?" Percy asked as he rolled his chair over to Luke's cubicle.

"No, we need to keep our heads down and focus on doing our jobs." Luke almost sounded scared.

"Whoa, who are you and what have you done with Luke?" Percy joked.

Luke just stared at him blankly. It made Percy nervous. "Never mind, man …" Percy rolled his chair back to his station.

Meanwhile, Annabeth was having a weird day. First, a woman in tech support died in the office. It creeped her out - this had never happened at her other jobs. But also, she felt like she was supposed to be doing something about it. The elevator guy was even talking to the police.

Trying to focus, she realized one of the tech guys filled out a Theta requisition form instead of the new Epsilon form. She really hoped the elevator guy wasn't Luke. But, she figured that she would keep it pretty informal. It was an honest mistake with the new system. Calling him into her office, she printed off the Epsilon form.

Thankfully, the guy who showed up was not the elevator guy. But this Luke looked very shifty. He was almost shaking and had a terrified look on his face. Annabeth resolved to be as friendly as possible.

"Hey, Luke, right? It's good to see you. Please take a seat. This shouldn't take too long, just a small mix-up." Hopefully, her positive tone would help set him at ease.

He sat down, but the terrified look never left his face. "What is this about?"

"You filled out a Theta system requisition form, and we recently switched to Epsilon requisition forms. No big deal, here if you could refill this one out, we'll be all set." Annabeth held out the correct form over her desk for him to take.

"Oh no, how could I do this? I'm letting the company down." Luke whined and ran both his hands through his hair. He looked ready to start shaking. Annabeth was startled. It was a minor mistake.

"No, it's okay - I just need you to redo it, easy-peasy." She emphasized, still holding out the correct form. But it was as if she told him he was the reason the company was going under. He actually was rocking back and forth.

"Hey, bud, it's okay." Annabeth tried to calm him down, but nothing seemed to be working.

"I'm sorry. This won't happen again." He said and took the form from her. Leaving her office at a quick pace, he turned away from the elevator on this floor. Taking a second, Annabeth followed him. He was heading toward the kitchen on this floor - probably looking to get a glass of water.

Annabeth hesitated outside the kitchen door. But letting out a sigh, she reasoned that he seemed genuinely upset. So, she followed him.

Walking into the room, Annabeth couldn't believe her eyes. There was a woman who appeared to be a grandma - except for the fact that she was flying in the air via leather bat wings. She had a shriveled face (complete with yellow fangs!), a blue hat, and a crumpled velvet dress. Her hands had claws instead of fingernails, and one hand was holding a paisley handbag.

"Hey, Luke, how about you walk toward me?" She tried to coax him away from the scary flying woman.

"No, I'm a disappointment, and I've ruined the company. Mrs. Dodds, do your worst." He said and set the new form down on the counter.

"My pleasure," she said with a raspy and horrifying voice. She flew over to the kitchen table and grabbed a pencil before using Luke's hand to hold it and stab himself in the neck.

"Nice seeing you, honey," she said to Annabeth before disappearing.

Annabeth was in shock. Then she ran to the doorway and yelled out, "Help!"

Luke was dead. Annabeth had no idea what to say to the cops. She knew that she couldn't mention the flying lady. Who would believe her? Instead, she focused on the fact that he stabbed himself in the neck.

As she was talking to the police, Annabeth felt weird. It was like she knew what questions the cops would ask before they asked them. It was almost as if she had heard them before - only in her head, she was the one asking the questions. But that was ridiculous.

During her discussion with the police, the employees gathered on the floor to see what happened. Including the elevator guy, Annabeth noticed. He was looking at her with his piercing green eyes. But he didn't seem inclined to talk to her. She gave him a significant look. Yet, he just turned and left.
