Chapter 8
"I don't care that everything was clear, something's wrong with my brother. You need to do more!" Scott was fuming, he had been pacing around Mike's office for the past hour. Mike had done everything he could do, scans, tests, the lot, but nothing showed up.
"Scott, listen to me, John will wake up, in his own time. I don't think there's anything wrong with him that rest won't cure. Please trust me." Mike placed his hand on Scott's shoulder. He could feel the younger man was tense and scared. Scott turned and faced his father.
"Dad, please! You need to demand more scans!" Jeff held his hand up, Scott immediately stopped.
"You need to stop, now." Jeff warned. "Mike has done everything he needs to. We'll work out a plan of action when John wakes up but for now, we need to wait patiently." Scott sighed in defeat. He didn't mean to take his worry and frustration on Mike but he felt like no one was doing anything to help John. Scott left Mike's office and made his way to John's room. He laid still, but had an oxygen mask over his face to help him breathe. Scott grabbed John's hand and sat next to him in the chair.
"Please Johnny, I need you, please wake up!" Scott felt a little glimmer of hope as John's hand started twitching.
The lights were bright, he could feel his eyelids getting lighter and lighter. John could hear Scott pleading with him to wake up. He wanted to wake up but he didn't feel strong enough. John put all his strength into wiggling his fingers, he hoped he'd done enough to put Scott's mind at ease.
"I'm proud of you Johnny! Keep going, keep fighting." John could hear Scott encouraging him so he tried to open his eyes but suddenly his vision went red.
Maybe I should kill Virgil instead. How about that, John?
Scott smiled as he could see his brother trying to wake up. Suddenly, John's eyelids flew open and his eyes rolled to the back of his head as he started seizing again.
I will kill you, John Tracy
Daddy's first blonde son
John Tracy will be no more
An evil laugh echoed throughout John's head. He felt like it was a fire ripping through his temples.
Scott had never run so fast in his life. He ran straight into Mike's office where they were still chatting. Jeff and Mike were immediately concerned.
"He tried to wake up…. He's fitting… help!" Scott managed to get his words out but he was breathless. He didn't know if it was panic or too much running. Jeff and Mike ran out of the office and headed straight to John. Scott looked at Virgil and decided to stay with him, he knew Virgil couldn't run anywhere and by the looks of him, he wouldn't be able to walk far. Virgil had no colour in his face, and looked shaky.
Mike felt the weight of the world on his shoulders. He believed there was nothing wrong with John but obviously something was up. He shot around the room getting all the equipment he needed in case John stopped breathing.
"Johnny, if you can hear me, I'm going to put some medication in your IV which will calm the fitting. You'll be ok." The medication worked quickly as much to Mike's surprise. John calmed down and his eyes remained closed. Jeff ran his hand through John's hair, and whispered in his ear.
"If you can hear me son, please come back to me." John's eyes started flickering. He forced himself to wake up. It was time to grace everyone with his presence.
"Da….. dad?" John rasped. His head was pounding. What had happened? A big smile plastered on Jeff's face as he said a quiet 'thank you' to Lucille.
"I'm here John, you'll be ok. You're safe." John's eyes darted around the room which was unnerving for Jeff.
"What….. happened?" Jeff's eyebrows knitted together with worry. He looked at Mike.
"Can you not remember John?" Mike asked.
"I was on Thunderbird 5. That was it. I haven't been home for months." Jeff's heart dropped. John couldn't remember going home for rest.
"Can you remember having pains through your head?" John shook his head but the pain shot through his head as a protest to the movement. John turned to face Mike, giving him a confused look.
"Why am I on Thunderbird 5?" Jeff shook his head. Why couldn't John remember where he was? Something is not right!
"You're not, you're in hospital John. Scott and Virgil are here and Mike is treating you. You remember Mike.' John looked at Mike and frowned. He wasn't entirely sure.
"I'm meant to be dead. I was told that I'm going to die." The tears started to form in Jeff's eyes but he didn't let them fall. He grabbed John by the hand and looked at him in the eyes. Who told him he was going to die.
"Who told you that John? I need to know." John's eyes started flickering again. He wanted to sleep. He was so tired.
" John? Come on buddy, tell me who it was!" Mike demanded.
"The man .." John whispered as he fell into a deep sleep again. Jeff turned to Mike who shrugged at Jeff. The man? Who was 'the man'? Mike smiled sadly at Jeff, who had buried his head in his hands.
"Let him sleep, Jeff. We'll try again another time. His brain is all haywire at the moment." Jeff wiped the tears from his eyes and stood from his chair. He wanted to check on the other two boys before he thought about having a decent rest. Jeff's communication watch startled him as a high pitched beep sounded.
"Scott, I'm just on my….." Jeff was cut off by a panicked Scott.
"Dad, I need Mike. Virgil's stopped breathing!"
