This really doesn't look like Cappy Town
Tiff was watching Tuff and Kirby play around in the castle courtyard enjoying the pure look of joy on Kirby's face. It seemed like just yesterday Kirby crash landed here in Cappy Town but in reality that happened just over 2 years ago. Tiff was ten when that happened and now she was about to turn thirteen. Tuff was eight back then and now he was 10 about to be 11. 'Time really does fly by' she thought.
As she was sitting there deep in thought her mind wandered to her best friend, Kirby. He really didn't seem to age a bit. When he landed he was just a happy baby that wanted to help the town and make new friends along the way and now he was still the same if maybe a bit taller and better at fighting.
Tuff was enjoying playing with Kirby though he really wished that Kirby would learn to kick the ball towards him and not towards pretty much everything else. It was getting annoying having to go get the ball every five seconds. He had told Kirby time and time again to aim but he never did and it was getting really annoying.
"KIRBY! AIM!" Tuff yelled at Kirby anger reaching its boiling point
"TUFF! Kirby's still pretty much a baby, he's trying his hardest!" Tiff stood up and walked over to Kirby who was starting to cry
"I know! But can't he try harder? It's not that hard to kick a ball over to someone who is no more than ten feet away from you" Tuff said crossing his arms
"Tuff…I know it's annoying but he needs time to learn." Said Tiff who was hugging the pink haired child
"He's had time, Tiff! He's had over two years!" Tuff argued with his sister
Kirby stood there in Tiff's arms crying. He didn't mean to make Tuff angry or to make them fight either. He hated when they fought, especially when it was over him. He loved the two siblings like his own brother and sister. But why did they have to fight?! He was trying really hard, he hoped Tuff knew that… It was hard to aim the ball. 'It just never cooperates' he thought as he wiped his tears. He wasn't going to cry. He got out of Tiff's hold and walked over to the ball and took a deep breath. He was going to aim this ball. He moved his foot to where he thought would be the best place to kick. And he kicked…and…It worked! He kicked it to Tuff!
Tiff and Tuff were still fighting when Tuff felt something hit his leg. He turned and saw Kirby who looked really proud of himself and he looked down and saw the soccer ball at his feet. He smiled.
"You did it Kirby!" Tiff ran over to Kirby and hugged him tight
"Yeah! You did it!" Tuff ran over to the child as well
"Poyo did it!" Kirby said happily
"Heya Kirbs…" Tuff said nervously
"Poyo?" Kirby said turning to look at the boy
"I'm sorry dude… I was overreacting…can you forgive me?"
Kirby didn't say anything and just hugged Tuff and gave him a smile. The two hugged for a bit then resumed playing their game as Tiff went into the castle to go get a book.
As Tiff walked through the castle she thought of what type of book she unwanted to read. Fiction, nonfiction? Fantasy, adventure, romance? There were so many types of books. Did she want to solve a mystery or go on an adventure of a lifetime? Then again she didn't really OWN a ton of books she mostly got the books she read from King Dedede's library but he recently said it was "off limits for renovation". Last she checked though there was no renovation going on in there.
Tiff got to her room and went through the books she had…she had read them all! Most of them she had probably read more than twice… 'But I don't want to reread something! I wonder if I can borrow from someone?' she thought 'But who?' she finished mentally. She went through people in the castle that might have some books that she'd be interested in, and landed on the head knight of Castle Dedede. Meta Knight.
As she walked to his quarters she started to wonder if he'd even have any books. After all, he does seem to be busy all the time. She got to his apartment and knocked.
"Come in." She heard
Tiff walked in to see Meta Knight sitting on their couch reading 'I knew he'd have books' she walked over to him.
"Hey Meta Knight! How are you?" She asked
"I'm fine, what do you need?" He answered
"Oh, I was just wondering if you had any books I could borrow." She said
"Yes, I do have some. They're in my room if you want to go check them out. All I ask is that they are returned to me when you are done reading them." He said not looking up from his book
"So I can go in your room?" She asked, suspiciously
"Yes." He answered simply
"Ok…" She went over to the door that lead to the hallway
She got to his bedroom door and opened it. His room was nothing less than what she would expect from Meta Knight. His room was tidy and consisted of dark colors. His covers on his bed and his walls were navy and pretty much everything else was black except for the colorful bookshelf that took up an entire wall. Tiff felt like she was in heaven. The bookshelf was organized with one side being fiction and the other nonfiction. And beyond that the fiction side was organized by category and vice versa. It took Tiff a whole five minutes to find books to read. She found five. As she was walking out of his room she found herself wondering when he got these. They looked old and she had never heard of these books before.
When she got back to the main room of his apartment she decided to ask him.
"Hey Sir Meta Knight." She said
"Hmm." He replied
"When did you get these books?" She placed the five books she chose in front of him
"Oh those ones? I got those back in highschool from one of my…" His voice trailed off
"From one of your friends?" She asked, he nodded. "I'm sorry if I brought up some bad memories." She apologized
"No, it's fine. But those are some good books, I bet you'll like them."
"I bet I will! Bye Meta Knight!" She said as she walked to the front door
"Farewell Tiff" He said
Tiff had gotten back to the courtyard with the books and had started to read the first one she picked. It was called "One of Us is Lying" by Karen M. McManus. She opened it up to the first page and started reading.
Tuff and Kirby were running around the courtyard playing soccer again, it was Tuff's favorite game, and Kirby had finally, somewhat, got good at aiming the ball to Tuff and not kicking it away from him. After a while of playing soccer Tuff and Kirby got tired and went to go see what Tiff was doing she was, of course, still reading. If Tuff was being honest he didn't know how Tiff could spend that long looking at words.
"Tiffffff…." Tuff whined
Tiff looked up from her book
"Yeah Tuff?"
"I'mmmm booorrreeeddd" Tuff continued to whine. Tiff sighed she knew this was coming at some point.
"Tuff why don't yo-" She was cut off by a voice that immediately gave her a headache. She didn't even have to look to know it was Dreamland's tyrant. King Dedede.
"Well, well well, look who we have here." Dedede said, trying to be scary, and failing miserably.
"Ugh, what do you want?" Tiff said finally turning around
"I was dat little pinky gone girleh, and I have have to get rid of all of ya's I will!" Dedede said pointing an accusing finger at them
"And how are you planning to do that? Nightmare's gone." Tiff said
"With this!" Deded pointed to the weapon Escargoon was holding.
"What's that?" Tuff said
"My new weapon against Kirbeh, the…the…the.. oh whatever!" Dedede said, sighing, "Escargoon FIRE!"
"Whatever you say, Your majesty" Escargoon started "Yeah yeah, it's your weapon definitely not my creation." Escargoon whispered under his breath as he was charging up the weapon
Tiff and Dedede were currently arguing and Tuff was trying to get Tiff to realize that right now they could take the rare opportunity to escape to make sure they didn't get hurt, but his efforts were in vain because as soon as Tuff got her attention the weapon was finished charging up and a beam of light was fired and Tiff and Tuff were gone.
Escargoon wasn't expecting the beam to be that big…or that bright. 'That wasn't supposed to happen…' Escargoon thought. Escargoon stood horrified at what he just witnessed his machine do. As you know he had just used it on Tiff, Tuff and Kirby and had checked the compartment where they were supposed to be held and was horrified when they weren't there. He looked up and low and behold they weren't anywhere to be seen. 'DID I JUST KILL THEM?!' he thought horrified.
"Escargoon I thought they were supposed to be inside that machine of yours." King Dedede said scratching his head
"That's what I thought as well, sire…" Escargoon said wide eyed
"Welp there's no going back now!" Dedede said walking away
"I guess…"
Tiff, Tuff, and Kirby could only stare as they saw the beam of light coming at them at, to them, seemed like slow motion. They tried to run away but the beam hit them before they could and immediately they felt their body teleport away and then felt wind blowing against them.
They opened their eyes to find out that they were falling from the sky. There was a bright blue sky surrounding them and the clouds were below them. In a different situation the scene surrounding them would be calming, but they were falling. They were falling fast. Immediately Tuff and Tiff started screaming in fear for their life, Kirby on the other hand was having the time of his life. Tiff looked down, big mistake. From what the girl could see there was no ground visible to them. They were falling from so high up that they couldn't even see the ground! Tiff started screaming louder and silently praying that this was all a dream and that she'd wake up soon.
"Tiff!" Tuff screamed turning to look at his sister his eyes finally visible for the first time in forever
"Yeah?!" Tiff looked at him
"I'm scared!" Tuff said, at this point he was crying
"I know! I-I… am too!" Tiff said "But we have to be brave ok!" She finished
"Ok!..." Tuff tried to put on a brave face…he failed
Soon enough they could finally see the ground below them, from what Tiff could see the place they were likely going to land at was a town. I looked like a mix of a city and a small town and it was clear that each neighborhood represented who lived in it. There was a very small neighborhood that had houses that were barely staying together, a neighborhood right next to it had houses that were small and not super well made, the next neighborhood was full of houses that looked quite normal. From there the houses got bigger and started to look more expensive until it got to the hill overlooking the town with a castle larger than Dedede's castle back at home…
Home… oh what Tiff and Tuff would give to be back home. As soon as Tiff thought that she felt her hit the ground with a large thud. Then she heard Tuff. Then she heard Kirby land on Tuff. Tiff got up surprised that the landing didn't hurt as much as she thought it would and looked around. It seems like she landed in the second neighborhood that she saw, the one right next to the houses that looked like they would fall apart. After making sure that there was nothing around that could be considered a threat she went to go check on her brother and Kirby.
Tuff was fine, Kirby was fine and Tiff could relax knowing that no one was hurt. Tiff, Tuff, and Kirby decided to go and try to find out where they were. As they walked out of the little clearing of trees that they landed in they saw that there were some kids playing at a playground nearby that looked like it could desperately use some cleaning. They walked for a little bit down the sidewalk taking in just how calm this place is. That is until…
"GOSH! ONYX YOU CAN'T EACH ROCKS!" A voice noticeably an adult male screamed
"What was that?" Tuff asked
"I don't know…" Tiff said
"Let's go check it out!" Tuff said
"POYO!" Kirby said
"Come on Kirby!" Tuff said as he and the pink haired child ran off
As they got closer to where they heated the sound they saw a man with what looked to be a 4 year old boy. The man had navy blue hair that was somewhat like a certain blue haired knight they knew, except he had two horns on his head, one that was red and one that was black. He had somewhat dark skin and it looked like he had vampire fangs, his eyes were red and he had two visible scars going over his face. All in all he reminded Tuff and Kirby of a demon but he looked…nice. The child looked like the man and had the same skin color as him but he had dark purple hair and red eyes like the man who Tuff and Kirby presumed was the child's father.
As Kirby and Tuff neared the child and father it seemed as though the two noticed their presence and turned to look at them.
"Oh hi! I'm so sorry you must have heard our conversation didn't you."The man said
"Oh yeah… we were just wondering if everything was ok here." Tuff said staring at the man
"Everythings…fine…here…umm…is everything okay with you?" The man asked
"Yeah everything's good…umm I never got your name." Said Tuff
"Oh! I am so sorry! My name is Midnight, Midnight Diaz and this is Onyx!" The guy no dubbed Midnight said, his happy tone not fitting his appearance
"Hi Mr. Diaz! My name is Tuff, Tuff Ebrum and this is my best friend Kirby…we don't really know his last name." Tuff said
"Well it's nice to meet you Tuff…if you don't mind me asking, how old are you?" Midnight asked
As he asked this Tiff had finally caught up with the two and stood next to Tuff and Kirby.
"Oh I'm eleven!" Tuff said then he finally noticed Tiff "Oh this is my older sister Tiff, she's fourteen!" Tuff introduced his sister
"Fourteen, I have a son who's fourteen. Don't tell him I said this but he's in dire need of friends. I think he's finally made two friends who he just can't stop fighting with. If you want I can introduce you guys to him." He said
"Yeah! Tiff can we? CAN WE?!" Tuff practically begged
"One second mister." Tiff said dragging Tuff away
Tiff was debating on whether or not to rust this guy. After all he looked like a demon but his cheerful demeanor and pure kindness he showed countered that. They did have Kirby with them though, and he pretty much single handedly defeated Nightmare… It wouldn't hurt to meet his son…would it?
"Tuff we can meet him but if anything remotely suspicious happens then we are out of there, okay?" Tiff said sternly
"Fine! Let's go!"
They told Midnight that they would love to meet his son and so he picked up Onyx and he let them inside their house. Their house was clean and organized and it smelled really good. The decor was simple and most of the walls were bare but in a way their house was calm…that was until…
"MOM! META WON'T DO MY HOMEWORK!" They heard a girl scream
"THAT'S BECAUSE IT'S NOT MY HOMEWORK!" They heard a guy with a thick hispanic accent, that suspiciously sounded like Meta Knight, scream back
"Dios mío…Galacta it's your homework you do it!" They heard as they saw a woman, probably the mom, walk into the main room.
She had light blue fade-in into a bright blue color hair that was pulled into a messy ponytail, she wore a light purple shirt with jeans and a white apron, she had flip flops on and her eyes were suspiciously the same color as the knight they knew so well, Meta Knight.
She then noticed the three, "Oh! Hola! What are you three doing here?" She asked in a friendly voice, she also had a thick Hispanic accent, like Meta Knight
"Hey! we're here to meet your son!" Tuff said happily
"Oh, you mean Meta right? He's in his room up the stairs and just down that hallway. It's the second room to the right." She said
"Okay!" Tuff tan off with Kirby following shortly behind
"Umm miss, if you don't mind me asking what's your son like?" Tiff asked
"Oh he's…different… you'll figure it out once you meet him…he's a complicated person." The lady said
Tiff went off to follow Tuff and Kirby upstairs and quickly found the room she was talking about. That's when they heard…
Thud "Hey bud!"
"MANDO, how'd you get in here?! I locked the window!" They heard the guy, Meta, scream
"It was locked?" They heard the other guy, now dubbed Mando say nonchalantly
That's when Tuff knocked on the door and it opened. When it opened they saw a guy with navy hair, somewhat dark skin, and yellow eyes. He was wearing a navy hoodie and black pants, he was also wearing black shoes. In all honesty he reminded the three of Meta Knight. The guy had a somewhat surprised look on his face.
"Hello?" He asked
"Hi! My name's Tuff, this is Kirby, and that's my sister, Tiff!" Tuff said pointing to Kirby and Tiff respectively
"Hi…" The guy said, unsure of what to think about what was going on in front of him
"We've come to hangout with you!" Tuff said very excitedly
"I…see… umm could you give me a second?" The guy asked
"Of course." Tiff said calmly understanding why he was so confused
The guy shut the door and Tuff wasted no time in asking Tiff why the teen, Meta, was so confused. That ended up becoming a lecture from Tiff in explaining that he probably wasn't used to random kids in his house knocking on his door saying that they had come to hangout with him.
Meanwhile in Meta's room
Meta shut the door and locked it. He didn't know who those kids were and why they were here but he didn't want to know. If anything it was probably his parents attempting to get him better friends who weren't climbing through trees to get into his room through his window. Example of that type of person: Meta's bestfriend Mando, who had just done that exact thing no more than thirty seconds ago.
"Who was that?" Mando asked leaning against the wall
"I have no idea." Meta said finally getting off his door
"Well… now that that's over with, I have news!" Mando said his serious face morphing into one of pure joy
"Oh great, just what I needed…" Meta said under his breath
"Cheer up grumpy pants, It's something you'll like!" Mando said wrapping his arm around Meta's shoulders
"And what is this 'news' you have for me?" Meta asked pushing Mando's arm off him
"I heard that a special someone wanted to go to lunch with you before school started again!" Mando said obviously very excited to tell Meta his news
"I see, and who is this 'special someone'?" Meta asked using his fingers to make quotation marks when saying "special someone"
"Who do you think, blueberry? ELIZA!" Mando said
Now yes Meta assumed it was Eliza, after all he had been told time and time again that she liked him but he never believed it. After all he was the typical high school emo nerd and she was popular and part of the dance team. Everyone loved her! Eliza and Meta were friends, in fact he would go as far as to say best friends. They had known eachother since first grade but really became friends in middle school and their friendship had only grown since then. In fact they had the exact same schedule at school and sat together in most classes.
Meta would be lying to himself if he said that he wasn't thrilled to know that Eliza wanted to have lunch with just the two of them, but he had a reputation to keep up.
"I see…" He said still shocked about the news
Mando could tell that Meta was happy. After you have known the guy for more than ten years you get to understand him on a more personal level…now to figure out who was at the door.
Mando sneaked behind the still shocked Meta and unlocked and opened the door. He saw a girl lecturing a guy who seemed to be her brother, and a little kid with pink hair who immediately upon seeing him started saying hi.
"Hey…dude…" Mando said, confused
"Hi!" the kid continued to babble
That's when the two other people, teenagers he thought, noticed him.
"Oh hi, I'm sorry you had to see that…" The girl said sheepishly
"No, dude it's fine." Mando started "Are you those people that were here to hang with Meta over there." He said pointing his thumb behind him at Meta
"Actually yes, I know it's weird but we just moved here and well…It'd be nice to…you know…have someone to chat with." said the girl
"I get you, I met Meta pretty much the same way, I'm Mando by the way." Mando introduced himself
"I'm Tiff, this is Tuff, and that's Kirby" Tiff said introducing them
"Hey, also you can come in. Meta might be rude but I'm not." Mando said inviting them into Meta's room
Meta's room was an exact match for the teen. His bed frame was simple and black and his bedsheets were black as well. He had a desk and a bookshelf in his room and there were many posters of the Galaxy Soldier Army hung on his wall. His dresser was…again black and on top of it there were photos of what seemed to be himself and Mando and some other people. His nightstand was also black and had some books in it. On top if his nightstand were some more photos and a journal. Overall his room was pretty clean and organized.
When they walked into his room they saw Meta himself, finally recovered from the shock, sitting on his bed reading. Mando quickly snatched the book from Meta's
hands and put it on his dresser. Meta was obviously not happy about that and immediately scolded Mando for interrupting his reading. That's when he noticed the three kids in his room.
"Oh…hi…sorry I was just about to let you all in…heh…"Meta laughed nervously
"It's fine!" Tiff said cheerfully
After introducing themselves Tiff, Tuff, and Kirby got to know Mando and Meta better. Turns out they were pretty much polar opposites. Meta liked reading, being by himself, studying and was really smart while Mando liked watching movies, hanging out with friends, hated studying, and was not the smartest but he wasn't dumb he made that clear. It also turns out that Meta had skipped a grade and was a year younger than Mando though it seemed as if Mando was the younger one. Meta tended to lean towards the darker side of things while Mando leaned towards the brighter side and Meta was the introvert while Mando was the extrovert. The thing that weirded Tuff out the most though was just how close they were. It seemed as if all of the differences were put aside and ignored when the two were with each other. That doesn't mean they didn't fight though because they fought a lot. It's like they were siblings.
Tuff ended up chatting with Mand more than Meta and Tiff chatted with Meta more than Mando, Kirby on the other hand was more interested in Meta's view of the city from his window. After a while Tiff went over to Tuff and asked if she could have a conversation with him in private. The two went over to the other side of the room.
"This isn't Cappy town." Tiff said
"I know." Tuff replied as they both looked out the window
AN: Hi! This chapter actually was finished pretty fast as I wrote most of it while having a mini panic attack at school, which probably explains why this chapter is a bit weird but I hope that the story gets better as it goes on. I would love it if you could review and give me ideas as to what I could add and or fix as this goes on. I should also tell you that this is an OC heavy story and it's very clear that I don't fully have Meta's character down yet but I hope to get better with it. Anyway I hope you like the story so far and have a great day!
