Here is Chapter 12 of the Blue Wolf. Will's final city reformation in Slaver's Bay ends up being his most difficult. It's the largest city in Slaver's Bay which presents its own problems and there are some last gasps of defiance from the Masters and people who want to hold onto the old ways and see the Conqueror dead. Unlucky for them as Will is very difficult to kill and he's someone who can adapt to situations when needed. The Conqueror decides to take the offensive. Enjoy!

The Conqueror secures his territory

295 AC: Meereen

Several weeks had passed since Will's first meeting with his men and advisors on what to do about Meereen going forward and some significant groundwork had been done. He was currently down by the docks waiting for the ship from the Iron Bank to arrive. He had sent a raven wishing them well but to also speak with them about securing accounts for Yunkai and Meereen. They were sending representative Tycho Nestoris to meet with him and discuss everything going forward. Setting up a meeting with the Iron Bank of Braavos wasn't the only thing Will and his allies had done.

They found people both former slave and not to make up the Meereenese council from various walks of life and backgrounds like they had done in the other cities. Will and the others brought them up to speed like they did with Astapor and Meereen and outlined their plan and development for the city. A new systems of laws was put in place with the word quickly spread throughout the city. It was fair, just, and didn't unjustly target any particular group of people in the city. It made them all equal which many weren't exactly understanding. A lot of the former slaves felt they were now above everyone else which led to some issues and incidents that Will and the others had to deal with. Much like in Yunkai they dealt with thefts, attacks, and attempted rapes. He dealt with them like he did with the others in Astapor and Yunkai: fair, equal, and without mercy. That earned him some anger from the recently freed but he was used to that during the beginning phase of renovating a city.

With the Meereenese council now formed and the new system of laws put into the place recruitment and training for the Meereen City Watch was underway. Will had the builder's guild begin tearing down one of the old Meereenese fighting pits and its accompanying slave dungeons to be rebuilt into the first City Watch barracks and training ground but that would take some time. Until the City Watch were properly trained and fitted for duty the Unsullied would protect the city in the meantime. Along with forming the Meereen City Watch Will spoke with the Meereenese City Council about his plans for building more houses, gardens, and fields in the city for more food and better water flow. The council was new to ruling a city but they liked the prince's plan and the most important thing is that it would provide a lot of work and distraction. And that wasn't the only thing they had working.

The work and teams Cedric lead into the Skahazadhan river north of the city was a well worth endeavor. They had found small deposits of iron in the river about 200 yards from the city along with flecks of gems and gold which meant there were untapped reservoirs nearby. After a few days they found the beginnings of an iron deposit and got to work on excavating it along with building a river mill to assist in the process. The river area was getting developed since there would be an iron mine and hopefully a gold and gem mine nearby as well. With those developments Will also put a lot of work into developing the land around Meereen for farming and living which would improve the quality of life and stimulate some additional trade. All of this was busy work and had its challenges but it kept everyone working, kept them from being stagnant, focusing on the wrong issues, and it helped the prince to further develop his spy network by getting his various guilds into Meereen. Trade caravans from Yunkai and Astapor came frequently which helped bring a good atmosphere to the city which it needed.

Along with the work in the city and outside, Will put focus into the harbor as well. Ser Davos was overseeing the overhaul and outfitting of the 93 Meereense ships in the harbor to get them ready for trade and transport. Along with the prince's four Swan ships and the 14 war galleys commissioned from the Arsenal of Braavos, he had 4 more coming with Representative Nestoris giving him 18. Those ships combined with the trade ships from the Iron Fleet and now the Meereense ship would help him protect Slaver's Bay. And one of the members of the Meereenese council was a well known trader and harbor master so now he had the resources to develop it more for greater maritime trade. It was still too early to tell if the citizens of Meereen truly regarded Will as their savior and that things were better then before or if they were going to revolt at any second but for now there was some quiet and peace in the city.

Will along with his brothers Edric and Gendry, Ser Arthur, Missandei and squad of Unsullied were waiting on the docks of the harbor which were thankfully full of activity from trade ships docked nearby that were offloading their cargo or people talking with fishermen about the best fish and shellfish they had. They were sitting around the docks while waiting for the ship. Will was unpeeling an orange when he saw some kids running around and playing. They waved at him and he waved back before tossing the fruit to them. They smiled and bowed their heads before running off.

"You couldn't offer me one?" Gendry wondered, sitting on an old barrel while Edric was sitting on the edge of the dock with his feet dangling over the water. "The Iron Bank guy is coming right?"

"He'll be here soon. Scouts saw his ship coming up the bay." Will told him and just like that he saw the ship pull into the harbor with two Braavosi war galleys as escort along with the four additional ones he requestioned from the Arsenal of Braavos. "There he is."

The ship carrying Tycho Nestoris and its escorts were directed to free spaces to dock while the new war galleys were anchored nearby where they would be outfitted to Will's design later. When the Iron Bank's ship was anchored into port and the ramp was secured, several Braavosi soldiers acting as security for the Iron Bank disembarked the ship followed by Tycho Nestoris.

"Representative Tycho Nestoris, welcome to Meereen." Will greeted him and bowed along with the members of his party. Tycho and his men bowed in return.

"Prince William Baratheon, it is good to see you again. The men of the Iron Bank of Braavos are glad you are in good spirits and in good health."

"Thank you. I imagine it has been a long journey. Please follow us inside from the heat for some refreshments." Will led them through the city to the pyramid of Meereen that Will and his company were using. They were led to a small meeting room with a balcony overlooking the city where the guards could be stationed outside while the duo had their meeting. "Would you like something to drink?"

"Water, please." Tycho answered so Will poured them two cups and placed them on the table. "It would seem that fortune continues to favor you, Prince William. It was only the dragon lords of Old Valyria who had a successful conquest as you have and then the Targaryens after."

"Well, considering the history of my family that does make some sense. The ancestor of my house, Orys Baratheon was the bastard half-brother of Aegon the Conqueror and then my great-grandmother was Rhaelle Targaryen, daughter of King Aegon the 5th so while it is diluted there is some blood of the dragon that flows through me. Not a lot but enough to matter in certain circumstances." Will explained as the two cheers their cups and drank. "And it's not conquering. It's more…liberation."

"Of course. And your liberation has fostered a very beneficial relationship between the Iron Bank and Astapor. Many of my associates were a little dubious to the account set up but have since welcomed it with open arms." Tycho Nestoris told him.

"I'm glad but like I promised before I wouldn't have wasted the precious time of the Iron Bank of Braavos with my business here if I didn't think it would be important or beneficial to all parties involved. When we spoke in Astapor I understood your trepidation in supporting my move here in Slaver's Bay but I hope that I've proven to be more then just brave talk." Will said.

"You indeed have. And word has already reached Braavos about the abundance of trade coming through Slaver's Bay. I imagine you will be changing the name going forward." Tycho Nestoris remarked.

"I will and there has been an increase in trade stretching all the way from Westeros to Yi Ti and the lands to the east. Not only has trade increased but the increased maritime patrols curtesy of the Iron Fleet and my own personal ships have made the waters safer. And there's more to come. I have plans to ensure the safety of Slaver's Bay and the cities of Astapor, Yunkai, and Meereen both strategically and financially. Plans that would be beneficial to the Iron Bank and their investment in this area." Will proposed.

Tycho Nestoris took his goblet and drank some water before he spoke. "I trust that these plans of yours have been thought through extensively and I will be able to provide my colleagues with some important details and information."

"Of course." Will stood up and went to the counter where a small leather bound book was laid. He picked it up and handed it to Tycho Nestoris. "The Yunkish and Meereenese council have provided valuable information and details for the Iron Bank going forward that I believe would be a wise investment. I did promise that next time we would meet that I would have more information to show that what I'm doing is indeed worth all the time and effort."

"Indeed, you have." Tycho remarked.

The duo continued their meeting and with Will providing Tycho Nestoris with all the possible information he and the Iron Bank could want in opening accounts with new cities and then providing investment. The Iron Bank needed to know that they would be getting their money's worth before they made a decision. Luckily for Will he had enough experience dealing with them and knew exactly what to do and what information to give. Even without slavery, Slaver's Bay was in a prime position in Essos making it a crucial hub for commerce and trade so he knew the Iron Bank would want to keep their investments in this area open. Not to mention with the discovery of the gem mines in Astapor and the iron mine in Meereen, it had resources that made it valuable. With Will's financial, political, and strategic backing along with the proposed plans put together with the help of the Yunkish and Meereenese council it was a no brainer for Tycho Nestoris. He saw a great opportunity here and while it may have some repercussions, the benefits far outweighed them. The Iron Bank, being the Iron Bank held accounts with various cities, organizations, and groups and several of them had hands in the slave trade. While slavery was outlawed in Braavos, the Iron Bank was just that, a bank so they were more focused on numbers and figures. Any person with half a mind had to estimate that the Iron Bank had accounts or did business with groups or people involved in the slave trade. It was just common sense but they weren't politically motivated or personally driven. The Iron Bank was essentially neutral in all conflicts which was the benefit in this situation. They didn't look at it as making a declaration against slavery, they looked at it as making a financial investment with new cities to stimulate growth and facilitate their own financial gain. And the added easement that this came with the support of a Westerosi Prince whom they had an account with and excellent financial history only helped.

Will was becoming an excellent combat strategist but he had plenty of experience and knowledge in the finer workings of a city including finances. The meeting ended on good terms and Tycho Nestoris would spend the night in the pyramid as his guest before leaving tomorrow for Braavos. He would need to provide the information to the rest of the Iron Bank but Tycho Nestoris assured him that the Iron Bank would be happy to work with the freed cities of Slaver's Bay. That was good enough and Will knew no one would be stupid enough to try and make a move against the Iron Bank. That was one strategic defense secured.

The next day…

Will along with several members of his party were in the forge in the basement of the pyramid because Cedric said he had something to show them. Whenever Cedric wasn't helping the prince with what he needed, he had been working on something he had started in Yunkai but never told anyone what it was yet. His message said it was important so clearly something must have happened. They arrived in the basement forge underneath the pyramid and saw several workers going about their tasks diligently. Some were tending to the giant furnace while others were mixing certain ingredients together or working on what looked like a crude assembly line for building. What they were building no one had any idea but they saw Cedric over at desk talking with Gendry who was tending to the nearby forge. Will walked in and greeted the workers who were doing their task. They all smiled and bowed when he arrived and he smiled and bowed in kind.

Gendry looked up and saw Will and the others arrive so he nudged Cedric. "Excellent work everyone. Why don't you all take a nice break." Cedric said in Old Valyrian and they all smiled and put their tools town before leaving the forge. "Your grace, thank you for coming."

"We got your message. You've been very busy and made yourself comfortable here." He pointed out.

"Indeed. It took some time to set up but once we got everything the way I planned we have a very efficient work system here for the project I've undertaken." Cedric assured him. Will looked around and agreed that the area was set up to be efficient. Based on the bottles and bundles of powder over on the table nearby, Cedric must have made a new discovery with black powder.

"So, what new discovery in black powder have you discovered, Cedric?" Will wondered.

"It's not actually so much a discovery but more of additional research into what we already know and how we can use it in other ways. We've had plenty of experience so far with black powder that shows us it is destructive and powerful. We've used its destructive properties to great affect against the Dothraki and then again in Yunkai in a less forceful fashion. Now that I've better understood the powder I know how much I need to use for certain situations in order to get the desired effects. For example…" Cedric walked over and brought a small tube of tied up paper filled with black powder. "This amount of black powder would be ideal in accelerating the work being done by the river."

"That's not a bad idea. Small uses of black powder would speed in the work at the mines but it would need to be done very carefully. We know how dangerous it is and I don't want any needless deaths." He said and Cedric nodded.

"Agreed, your grace. I'm still refining the process but I believe small amounts of the black powder used would be able to clear large amounts of the cliff and rockface to make the process easier on the workers and much quicker. But that's not all I've been doing here. I have also been perfecting the work and design of weapons we have used before." Cedric walked over and picked up a black powder tipped arrow and then a much larger version attached to a spear. "We seen the powerful energy properties of the black powder and its ability to not only destroy but to send things over a vast distance. Our work with the Nest of Bees showed that we can use the black powder to more than triple the range of typical arrows and we used it again in Yunkai to send the fireworks into the air when you infiltrated the city. But even a small amount wrapped on an arrow was deadly and produced a powerful explosion. So, I've combined both ideas to get the propulsion of our Nest of Bees while also keeping the destructive power from a black powder arrow."

"And upscaling the powder for a spear which will send it further and make the explosion more powerful. Well done." Arthur told him.

"The Fire Lance provides an additional artillery platform, one that doesn't require the use of our catapults or even our ballistae but my biggest work is this." Cedric walked back over to his worktable and returned with one of his journals and a small model of what looked like a long tube made of iron. It was cylindrical in shape and was very well built. "I call it the cannon."

"Cannon. Interesting name." Edric pointed out.

"Cedric said it comes from an old Valyrian word Cannone meaning long tube." Gendry explained.

"Taking the force properties of when black powder is ignited and how we've seen it work with arrows, I believe we can use it to send other things at incredible speed to great effect." Cedric explained, showing everyone the calculations and diagrams that were in his journal.

"Send what exactly?" Will wondered so Cedric strapped the small cannon to the table while Gendry placed a stone brick on the other end. Cedric then poured a small amount of black powder into the back end of the cannon and attached a long strand of small rope. He showed everyone a small iron ball which he then placed in the cannon after a small, rolled patch of black powder was inserted first. Both were inserted into the cannon with a small stick until they were packed at the end. Once everything was done Gendry and Cedric moved over to the others and they all took several steps back behind a large table. "What's going on?"

"Just watch." Cedric used a candle to light the end of his rope which began burning down. He and Gendry crouched and got down behind the table while the others were still confused as to what was going to happen. Knowing that Cedric was both smarter and wiser then he was, Will crouched down with them. The others followed in their example and waited as the rope continued to burn until the fire finally reached the cannon. The second the burning rope reached the cannon it ignited the black powder at the back of the cannon which then ignited the black powder by the small iron ball. The iron shell of the cannon tube contained the explosive force and all that energy to go in one direction. It pushed the iron ball out of the tube with incredible force and speed.

Everyone ducked behind the table and covered their ears when the black powder went off before slowing picking up their heads when it was over. They saw the end of the cannon was smoking and there was a considerable crack in the stone brick. "Incredible…" Will muttered as Cedric walked over and picked up the stone brick to show everyone what happened. The iron ball was fired into the brick with incredible speed and force that it cracked it in half.

"Now imagine the cannon much larger and an iron ball several pounds in weight." Cedric suggested and they could see the great power a device like this could have.

"Something like that could tear through the hull of a ship or break down castle walls. Incredible." Ser Arthur said in amazement.

"It's not ready yet. I'm still working on the process and perfecting it. Black powder is dangerous so I'm taking all the precautions I can." Cedric assured everyone.

"Good thinking, Cedric. We all should know how dangerous black powder is. It's not something to take wisely so any use of it needs to be made as safe as possible. Still, excellent work." He praised him.

"Thank you, your grace. With some more time I think I'll have something larger to test." Cedric assured him.

That was something Will was willing to wait on. He had accomplished so much and still had more to do. He didn't want to get careless and let an accident be the reason for injuring him, others or Gods forbid killing them.

The next day…

The harbor in Meereen was busy as it usually was with trade ships coming in and out with varying destinations and origins from both east and west. There was a little more activity then usual as there were some more developments being made to the Meereenese ship yard which gave a lot of people work. They were moving lumber and stones via wagons and new structures were being built near and on the water overseen by architects or builders who diligently instructed their workers on what needed to be done, what needed to be fixed, and to fix any mistakes that were made. Women were helping out with the construction as well and those that were elderly or unable to perform the labor intensive tasks helped in other ways whether it was organizing material or making food for everyone. Even some children helped but they were few as most of them were in the newly built schools Will and the others had made. Many of the teachers had been former slaves who were highly educated and instructed the children of their former masters but there were some who were just citizens of Meereen who had teaching experience.

Ser Davos Seaworth, Stannis Baratheon, Ser Arthur Dayne, Cedric Angar, and Mr. Gibbs were speaking with the Meereenese ship masters and captains. They were going over various matters including the ongoing construction at the harbor, the upgrades being done to the Meereenese ships, the influx of trade ships and the new trade routes, and the general goings on at sea. With Mr. Gibbs being the captain of the Prince's four Swan Ships, he spent the majority of his time on the sea where his talents and skills were needed. He patrolled Slaver's Bay, worked as escort for various trade ships and did the occasional journey to and from various ports to deliver or pick up goods. Mr. Gibbs did encounter a few pirates who are no longer among the living and some slave ships. Said slaves were freed and the slavers were dumped into the ocean for the sharks. From one of the encounters, he learned that Volantis was feeling a great amount of pressure from Will's actions in Slaver's Bay. The slave trade was dealt a huge blow and with the prince's ships patrolling the waters in and around the bay, their usual method of transportation was now no longer viable. Will even told his uncle Stannis that any ship of the Royal Fleet that encounters a slave ship was to stop them. Stannis may not have agreed with what his nephew was doing in Essos but he was more than willing to deal with slavers. As a result, they were having to adjust. Many needed the conqueror dead but considering he already survived an assassination attempt and defeated a Dothraki Horde, the Second Sons, and now the Golden Company, it would take a literal mountain of gold to find anyone willing to take that kind of mission.

After they finished talking with the Meereenese captains and dockhands they went to find the Prince and inform him of their findings. And where was he? He was helping.

It was a hot day so he had removed his tunic and undershirt revealing his well-built and toned physique which he achieved after years of hard work and training. Strong arms, a defined back, and a resting 6-pack. He was sitting on the yard for the middle mainmast, tying the ropes secure to the wooden beam as the new sail was lifted into place. From his time during the Greyjoy rebellion on the ships with his uncle and Ser Davos to his most recent sea faring adventures with Mr. Gibbs, Will knew enough about ships and how they work to assist in their repair. The ship he and the other dockhands and sailors were working on was one of the many ships that was being reoutfitted or fixed up.

Once he finished tying off one section of the rope he grabbed the end and began climbing up the mast to reach the top sail where he handed it to the dockhands working up there. "Thank you." They replied as they took the rope and secured it to the post. "Ok, we're set!"

"Your grace!" He heard and looked down to see Ser Arthur, Cedric, Mr. Gibbs, Ser Davos, and Stannis waiting down below on the deck. "Can you come down?"

"One moment!" Will grabbed onto a rope and jumped off the mast so he slid down to the deck. His actions drew several looks of surprise and shock but he had done that before so he knew what to do.

"Is that really necessary, your grace?" Ser Davos wondered and he shrugged.

"I've done things more dangerous than that." He pointed out. "The ship is coming along nicely. Thank you again for your assistance and knowledge with all of this, Ser Davos. You as well, Uncle."

"My pleasure, your grace. To be honest the only time I've seen such a large and well organized ship yard like this was the Arsenal of Braavos." Ser Davos informed him.

"You've gotten quite the handle of things here, Nephew but was working on the ship really well worth your time?" Stannis wondered.

"They needed help and gaining new knowledge at any opportunity is worth it." He replied. "Mr. Gibbs, how are we here?"

"Making solid progress, your grace. More than half of the 93 Meereenese ships here in the harbor are in good enough condition or have been overhauled to the specifications required. I've spoken with the captains and such and they'll be ready to head out for trading or patrols within the week." Mr. Gibbs answered. "Slaver's Bay is secure and all of our trade ships and vessels are fine. A few run in with pirates but nothing serious and those pirates are now no longer among the living. Same with the run in we had with any slavers."

"Excellent. What about the word and rumors being spread out there?" He wondered.

"I do have some word coming from Volantis. During one of our encounters with a slave ship, one the slavers was more than willing to speak up if he thought it would help his chances at survival which it didn't. The Masters of Volantis worry has reached newfound levels. Your securing of Slaver's Bay and all its major cities have had effects in the slave trade no doubt aided by our efforts on the sea." Gibbs explained. "The masters and all slavers understand that travel by sea is no longer safe. They have lost many ships and a substantial amount of gold in the slaves we have liberated. They are looking into other means of transportation."

"But there is really only one. If they cannot travel by sea then they must travel by land. Admittedly land caravans are much more labor intensive, cost more, and take longer but with the work your ships and the Royal Fleet have done against slavery it is their only option." Ser Davos said. "I was a smuggler but I knew a few less then savory folks in my time before I met your uncle, your grace. Among them were slavers and all of them avoided transporting their stock via land caravans. Leaves them open to attack and takes much longer."

"Does anyone have a map?" Will asked so Cedric retrieved one from his rucksack and unfolded it. He placed it on a barrel and flattened it out so they could all see. "Securing Slaver's Bay has essentially cut off the slave trade from any territory to the east. That includes the Gulf of Grief, the Basilisk Isles, the Red Waste, to the Straits of Qarth and even the Jade Sea. They know by now that we patrol these waters so that leaves them the west. Realistically, Volantis position at the bottom of the continent gives them free reign of the Disputed Lands to the west, the Flatlands to the north up to Pentos and Norvos, the lands of Qohor and the Rhoyne river straight up through the continent, and as far east as the lands of the Demon Road and the Lands of the Long Summer. That's still a large territory but financially they stand to lose half of their profits."

"The Royal Fleets increased trade and patrols in the Narrow Sea have secured it from Slaver ships leaving them stuck to the continent and trading within the area on the western part of the continent." Stannis added.

"Volantis is still the key slave city and that won't change but Slaver's Bay was a big lynchpin. It's loss can't be understated which means that the Masters will do everything in their power to secure what they have left. Uncle, when you and Ser Davos return ensure that the Iron Fleet keeps up patrols and movement near Dorne around the Stepstones. It may be an overestimation on my part but ensuring that the trade routes of Westeros stay secure and the Stepstones stay open for us is important." Will told him. "The Triarch of Volantis know that they can't get to me through the usual means so they may try others by using their maritime power to halt trade."

"Yes, your grace." Stannis replied.

"Would they try that?" Mr. Gibbs questioned.

"The Stepstones have never truly been conquered if only temporarily but its position is important. If the Triarch of Volantis try to act against me in other ways, like say chocking trade with Westeros then this is how they would do it. Our history has shown this area can be important to our enemies from the time of Aegon the Conqueror, King Jaehaerys, and even during and after the Blackfyre Rebellions. I would learn from the deeds of the past to make sure they do not catch us unaware this time." He said and everyone agreed with that idea. Stannis managed a smirk and nodded in approval. His nephew's lessons and his strategic mind were sound. Although he did feel that pre-emptive motion to keep watch over the Stepstones was a solid idea, he didn't think that the Triarch or anyone would try something like that.

"With all due respect your grace, I doubt that anyone would attempt that now." Ser Davos assured him.

"I understand and appreciate your suggestion, Ser Davos, truly I do. But underestimating my opponent is something my enemies do and something I will not fall prey to as well." He stated and everyone agreed. "I also believe in being proactive in my threats and right now two of them are in Volantis."

"Your grace, you mean to move against the Triarch?" Ser Davos asked.

"Just Triarch Malaquo Maegyr and Triarch Nyessos Vhassar. Those two are the Triarchs that hired the Golden Company, gave them the poisoned arrow, and sent the assassins to kill me. From what Missandei was able to tell me, Triarch Doniphos Paenymion likely doesn't want conflict with me but I can be for certain which is why I sent Hercules and the others to Volantis. Their mission is to infiltrate and gain intelligence that we can use to better plot our move." He answered. "But I'm not declaring war on Volantis. I'm not mad enough to do that but justice will come to those who tried to have me killed."

"And how would you do that?" Ser Arthur asked him.

"Like I told them I would. They missed with their arrow. I won't miss with mine." He swore with conviction and everyone believed him.

Give him even the possibility of a shot and he'll take it.

The next day…

Will and various members of his party were now working in the Skahazadhan river today to assist in the development of the area and monitor the progress being made. Like many of the other prince's projects it drew in a lot of work for the occupants of the city both former slave and not. And it wasn't charitable work but actual paying work which was a good thing. That combined with the increase in trade goods from ships and from the land caravans stimulated economic growth. While he couldn't say that the people of the city felt they were better then before, things weren't descending to chaos which was a good sign.

The work Will and Meereenese Council had done at the Skahazadhan river leading to and from the city had progresses tremendously since its inception. Partially due to the well thought out plans of Cedric and partially due to the abundance of help they had. It also helped that Cedric had immense knowledge in what they were doing and was able to get the help of other like-minded experts in Meereen. They were able to build the watermill in the river in record time thanks to the abundance of workers. The flow of the river turned the water wheel which in turn provided power for the process of refining the iron ore being mined in the valley. Using the mills hydro-power Cedric also designed a nifty pulley system so buckets of iron ore could be pulled back and forth along the river making the job easier and not as hard on the people working. Like always it was a group effort with the older and younger men digging, shoveling, and sifting through the dirt for the ore or using pickaxes to chip away at the rocky terrain of the valley to expand the mine. Younger children helped clean and sift through the rubble using brushes or the water from the river along with gathering buckets of clay as well. Women helped with the work or they helped in other ways with food or water.

"Take cover! Cover your ears!" Someone shouted in Low Valyrian so everyone did as they were told. Several seconds later a small explosion was heard that shook the ground a bit and frightened some people while a thick cloud of dust, dirt, and smoke washed over the area from its point of origin.

People fanned away the smoke and dust but it soon dissipated on its own. Its point of origin was further up the river in the valley where there were less people working. The reason for that was because the workers had found some flaks of gold in the river which meant there was a gold deposit nearby in the valley but they needed to find it. Cedric used math and calculated the most likely places it could be in the valley and from there they were using small tubes of black powder to try and find the larger veins. Since they were dealing with black powder, Will kept the work at this position to the members of his party since they knew what they were dealing with.

Will stood with the others wearing his facemask to cover his nose and mouth from the smoke. Others had similar garb on along with cloths to protect their eyes. The smoke cleared from the blast point to reveal the origin where the black powder tube was set. There was small crater in the ground that was smoking and it destroyed the large chunks of hard rock that would have taken hours of hard labor to chip away. Cedric walked forward and brushed away some of the larger chunks of rubble. It took a few seconds since there was a lot but after some time brushing he pulled his mask down and looked at the others. They all looked and saw a streak of gold flowing through the ground they had blasted to get through.

"That is a good sign. Pay up." Will held out his hand and Ser Davos handed him a silver coin. Other people in the group paid up money as well, betting against the finding of a gold vein in the area. "Never doubt Cedric."

"Clearly but how did he know there was a gold vein nearby?" Stannis wondered as Cedric stood up and pat his hands clean of dust.

"There are some common indicators of gold deposits and veins in an area that can guide you in locating it. One of them is the color changes of rocks and terrain. The lighter colors of rocks and debris here are indicative of gold but that alone isn't a definitive marker. However, taking into consideration the iron staining of this area, the abundance of quartz and quartz veins and the general topography matching the areas in Astapor along with the records from the mines in the Westerlands, there was a more then likely possibility of gold here." Cedric explained his supporting evidence. Will smiled in pride and the others were very impressed with his knowledge.

"Suffice to say that my efforts after my trip to the Summer Isles wouldn't be as effective without Cedric's expert guidance, teachings, and his intellect. I have half a mind to put him in charge of the Citadel when I return because he knows more then all the Grand Maesters there." Will pointed out.

"That's not a bad idea, your grace." Stannis admitted.

"Of course, only when Cedric feels he is ready." Will added.

"And I welcome the opportunity with open arms, your grace. But I imagine the transition would take some getting used to. When I was training to be a Maester, one of the reasons I left that path was because of the rules and rigidity of the way things were done at the Citadel." Cedric reminded him.

"And to remind you of the lessons you have taught me…those who can't learn from the past and change are doomed to repeat it." Will quoted and Cedric smiled. "I've had a very good teacher."

Everyone smiled at the little back and forth. It was clear that Cedric and Will had a very good friendship, nearing to an almost familial one like an uncle to a nephew. Even Stannis could see that and Cedric's lessons have had a good effect on his nephew. If Grand Maester Pycelle was left in charge of his nephew's tutelage then he likely wouldn't be the same man he is now. Ser Davos was holding one of the wrapped tubes of black powder and looked at it with intrigue.

"Hard to believe a small bundle of powder and fire was able to do what we just saw." Ser Davos remarked, carefully putting it back into the rucksack with the others that Cedric had made.

"The Valyrians heralded the greatest empire in the known world and for good reason. Black Powder is just one of them." Will said.

"I still find it incredible and baffling that you took a voyage to the Doom. I've met dozens of brave sailors, pirates, and treasure seekers and none would dare venture there." Ser Davos told him.

"I agree with Ser Davos, nephew. That was a foolish idea and incredibly dangerous." Stannis added.

"I understand and I agree but an opportunity presented itself. I took care when we went and everyone who ventured there returned safely and without harm. Plus, the spoils of the expedition have benefitted us tremendously. The gold and jewels found there has aided my efforts here as well as the Seven Kingdoms. And we've recovered some of the lost secrets of the ancient empire and have used it effectively." Will gestured to the black powder tubes and then partially unsheathed Storm's Wrath. His Valyrian steel sword was tied around his waist and the distinct ripples of the steel could be seen along with the black color and streaks of gold and red. "One who never undertook anything never gained anything."

"Hmm, who said that?" Ser Davos wondered.

"I did…just now." Will joked, earning some chuckles from the others.

The next day…

Today William along with various members of his party were in the hills and surrounding ranges for another of the prince's and Meereenese council's projects. Will and Cedric were gathered at a table with one of the leaders of the builder's guild, one of the head stone masons, some other senior builders, and many farmers and herdsman. They were informing them of their plans to build small hamlets outside of Meereen. They would reside in the hills and ranges outside the city where the herdsmen often took their goats and sheep to graze. The hamlets would provide comfortable housing for anyone wishing to reside outside the city along with the farmers and herdsmen who spent most of their time outside of the city's walls. Taking inspiration by what he did in Astapor where he had a small town built outside the city with the developing gem mine, he was going to do the same here. Many of the herdsmen and farmers were confused and worried that they might lose their land but he assured them that would not happen.

He explained that the town wouldn't impact what they did but would instead give them more opportunities and ease their work. With the hamlets being built outside of Meereen, it would bring people of the already jampacked city who were more then happy to work and live outside its walls. He knew that even a dozen of these small hamlets outside Meereen wouldn't drastically affect the population and ease things but doing something was better then nothing. And one of his other projects was working on new additions to building or new buildings entirely in the city for living, city farming and cultivation. The hamlets outside the city would be like Winter Town in the North of Westeros. A town where people were able to go to work outside of the castle of Winterfell and with it being outside the city they could make it as large as they needed to be with plenty of open space. Will was already planning on the pens for the goats/sheep along other farm animals like chickens, pigs, and maybe even cows if they could get them. And while the area wasn't exactly the best for regular farming, a lot of the open hills could be used for terrace farming which gave them options. Oberyn had some knowledge on that as they did that in Dorne as well as in the Vale and while Garlan wasn't a farmhand he knew enough of the farming techniques in the Reach to assist as well.

While the logistics were still being planned out entailing the actual size of the hamlet, how many buildings they would construct and any adjustments the herdsmen and farmers wanted along with any suggestions they thought of, the prep work was being done. Workers were already cutting down trees or piling up stone bricks for construction while the plots for the farms were being dug. That was one thing everyone was able to agree on right away so they could start their work. The faster they got it set up the quicker they could get seeds planted and then food grown.

Will looked back and saw some of the workers talking with some of the men from his company. A few of the men-at-arms had come to help and they were speaking with some of the Meereenese men and women in a regular conversation. He noticed other casual moments as everyone helped one another and seemed to be in a general good mood.

That was a good sign and he hoped it would last.

Line Break xxxxx

One month later…

The work the prince was doing in Meereen was proceeding along nicely. More work was being done in and outside the city. The Meereenese City Watch continued training, many of the hamlets outside the city in the hills and ranges had been built with more to come, the work on the iron and gold mine was done and bringing money to the city. Representative Nestoris returned to Braavos and word was sent that the Iron Bank agreed to the prince's proposal. Not only were the three cities of Astapor, Yunkai, and Meereen now protectorates under the protection of the Prince of the Seven Kingdoms but they now had the financial support of the Iron Bank of Braavos, giving Slaver's Bay financial protection and security. All in all, things seemed to be doing well. Well enough that Will was able to have a moment of relaxation.

Orys, the prince's Golden Crown Eagle let out a sharp cry as he glided through the air high above Meereen. He turned his head to his left and next to Orys was Durran, the prince's blue-scaled dragon. The two were flying through the air together. Durran was still less than a year old but was about the size of a small dog and equal in size to Orys. Durran was growing fast likely from the good care Will and the others gave him along with the food he ate. Considering that the knowledge of raising a dragon and its actual maturation cycle was lost to history they really had to guess on what was going on. Durran was still very young but was moving around more and more everyday and even began gliding around the room so Will decided it would be a good idea to give him some fresh air.

Orys let out a cry before flapping his wings and flying down before Durran screeched and did the same, following the eagle's lead. While the two were completely different animals Orys tended to and cared for Durran like it was a member of its flock which was rather amusing. The two winged creatures flew down closer to the ground and closed in on a rider galloping through the hills away from the city. Orys flew down and flew alongside the right of the rider while Durran flew on his left. The horse was Roach and the rider was Will. He looked at Orys and Durran as they flew alongside him while Roach galloped.

"Sōvēson!" He called out, saying fly faster in High Valyrian.

Durran cried out, flapped his wings, and took off into the air again this time speeding up as he did. If Durran's screeches and cries were any indicator he was enjoying flying around. Orys let out a cry and flew after him, the two winged animals doing a sort of dance in the sky. They flew around one another then one would fly up into the air while the other dove down. It was quite a sight to see.

Will rode Roach through the hills with the horse jumping over a large rock and then slowing down so he could easily maneuver around some obstacles in his way. It showed a great deal of agility and maneuverability for the young horse and in his trust of Will to guide him. They continued galloping through the hills before they started to slow down and neared a small enclosure. It was just a tent and a small firepit where Ser Arthur Dayne, Cedric Angar, and Missandei were sitting and enjoying a little break. Edric and Gendry were training in the city so it was just the prince and three of them. Roach slowed down and stopped at the little tent allowing Will to climb down.

"Good boy, Roach. Nice job today." Will pet his horse on the head and Roach gave him a gentle nudge. Ser Arthur tossed him an apple and he fed it to his horse. Roach happily ate it and gave him an affectionate nudge before he dipped his head down and began munching on the green grass of the hill lands.

"Have a good ride, your grace?" Cedric wondered.

"I did. Roach is a great horse as always." Will pat his horse on the side before walking over. Missandei handed him a waterskin and he took a gulp. "Orys and Durran seem to be enjoying themselves, don't they?"

"They do." Cedric said as they looked up and saw the two animals flying around. "Like they're two birds from the same flock."

"Orys seems to have taken Durran under his wing. The two have a good bond." Ser Arthur added. "The dragon is growing fast. I reckon in two years' time he'll be about the same size as Roach."

"And therein lies its own problems. The bigger he gets the harder it'll be to keep him a secret. Only a select few people know of his existence but the bigger he gets the harder it'll be to hide him." Will told them when Orys and Durran flew down. Orys landed Roach's saddle while Durran flew down to Will. He held out his left arm and the dragon landed like he was a bird. He nuzzled Durran under the chin and the dragon happily nuzzled into his hand. "He won't stay a baby for long."

"What do you want to do?" Missandei wondered.

"I'm not sure but I don't think I'd be able to bring Durran with me to Westeros. If I did then my father would call for my head, son or not." Will scratched Durran on the head as the dragon jumped off his arm and landed on the ground. He crawled over to the fire where Cedric removed one of the cooked rabbits so the dragon could eat.

"It could bring with it some problems but it could be a protective measure as well. Help give you and your father a more legitimate symbol of the right to the Iron Throne." Ser Arthur suggested.

"Or it might bring on unwanted memories of the past Targaryens and the more irrational could think that William could turn just like them." Cedric pointed out. "Not to say that's what would happen but this is an unprecedent event and we're not sure what could happen as it's never happened in our lifetime. Dragons haven't been around for 200 years and now there is one in the world. There's no easy way to say what the reaction of the people in Westeros would be."

"Considering that the bannermen of my mother and my father banded together against the Targaryens then it might not be a good idea to literally have the symbol of that house. Then again I do share some blood of the dragon so it could help my claim. Cedric is right though. Westeros may not be ready for Dragons again." Will stated. "I'll keep this thought in the back of my mind but we'll come back to his matter on another day."

"And we'll assist you and provide the best counsel we can, your grace." Cedric assured him. "On that note, any more strange dreams your grace?"

"Dreams?" Ser Arthur and Missandei were confused.

"A few." Will admitted.

"I see. Well, fear not your grace. You're not going mad as I knew from the beginning. After some theorizing and speaking with the members of our party who hail from the North, I believe I have an explanation to what might be happening. And it's tied to blood from your mother." Cedric told him and Will was intrigued.

"Wait, hold on. What dreams? What's going on?" Arthur asked so Will began to explain the odd dreams/visions he started to have after they liberated Astapor. Of him flying through the air and for all intents and purposes…seemed to be seeing the world through the eyes of Orys, his eagle. "And they've still been happening?"

"Not as often after I was poisoned but every now and then I have a dream or two." He admitted.

"And I have an answer that is most likely the truth. You are not mad and I doubt your are losing your mind. Everyone here has known you well enough that you haven't started turning mad like King Aerys. I believe these dreams you have are a sign that you might be a warg." Cedric suggested.

"A warg? What's a warg?" Missandei wondered and Will felt like he heard that word before."

"That name sounds familiar but I can't remember." He said.

"Well, it has been a while. I believe the first time you heard it was from the old stories I told you when you were a boy." Cedric told him. "Legend and fables of the North aren't as well known past the neck but I've always felt that stories from anywhere in the Seven Kingdoms are important markers of our past."

"Only through knowing the past can we embark to the future as you so often have told me." Will remarked.

"And it has done you well in your life so far." Cedric pointed out, being ever the wise teacher. "Anyway, the stories of old times, the age of heroes long before Aegon the Conqueror arrived in Westeros were of mythical beasts, giants walking the lands and the efforts of the First Men like Bran the Builder who built the Wall. They also told tales of people who were in tune with the magic of the Old Gods and it gifted them with the ability to meld their minds with animals. They could live inside stags, birds, and wolves, see things as they did and even control them. Now, normally I would have thought such ideas folly and nothing but the stuff of old tales but considering our most recent addition I believe the idea holds some merit."

Everyone looked down at Durran who was about halfway through eating his roast rabbit. "Fair point." Missandei spoke and everyone agreed. "So, what does this mean?"

"Only what you, I, and everyone else here have already known. That William is indeed a special young man." Cedric said before he looked at the prince. "I know this is a lot to think about, your grace and my conclusion may not be right but do not let this deter you from your path and everything about who you are."

"He's right. If anything, this just reaffirms that you are indeed special and that your path through this world is the same. I know that you've often spoken about how you are no different then anyone else but who you are is nothing to be ashamed of. The blood of your father is of the Andals and old Valyria while the blood of your mother is of the First Men. Each of them have made you who are you in more ways then one but don't fear that it will shape you into something that you're not." Ser Arthur assured him with Missandei and Cedric giving him encouraging looks.

Will nodded as he looked over at Durran and Orys. The blood of his father, the Andals and of Old Valyria represented by Durran, a dragon that was bonded to him. The blood of his mother, of the North and the First Men, represented by Orys and the awakening of his Warg ability. An odd circumstance of blood and with it, unique gifts. Hopefully one day he would fully understand and control them too.

Several hours later…

The sun was beginning to set over the horizon in Essos so the heat of the sun was started to dissipate while lanterns and torches began to light the city of Meereen. People were heading home after long days of work or busy days doing what they needed to do. Other people not as much. Will was in one of the training yards residing in the Great Pyramid he and his men were using at their residence. He was in the middle of a fierce training session with Ser Arthur Dayne.

Will parried Ser Arthur Dayne's thrust and blocked his slash from the side before pushing him back and attacking with a series of quick slashes and cuts that were blocked. Ser Arthur parried his thrust to the ground and locked his sword there only for Will to roll over his back and shove him forward. Ser Arthur Dayne lost his footing and fell to the ground but he quickly rolled to the side and got back to his feet, holding his two practice swords up. Will spun one of his swords in his hand before using his foot to kick up the other practice sword and caught it. He held it in reverse grip as Ser Arthur Dayne attacked with a cut that he blocked and parried before attacking with his own cut and then engaged with some cuts to the head and mid-section. Ser Arthur blocked them all and then pushed back against Will's advances, putting him on defense.

Around the courtyard were a few Unsullied on guard. With the sun setting, the morning shift was replaced with the evening one so that all Unsullied were given sufficient time to rest, eat, and would be at peak performance for their time on duty. It was the same process with the entire Unsullied army throughout the city. He had them stationed in key areas and large squares but avoided putting them in bottlenecks or tight spaces and if he did then he did so with Golden Company soldiers in disguise nearby so they could assist. Will knew the strategic nightmare this city presented for his troops so he did the best with what he had.

Along with the Unsullied were Cedric, Missandei, Edric, Gendry, Smalljon Umber, Thoros of Myr, and Ser Davos. They were hanging around off to the side with Smalljon, Thoros, and Ser Davos playing a game of dice. Edric and Gendry were resting in some chairs, soaking with sweat from the intense sparring session they had just had. They sipped the water in their cups as they watched their brother continue fighting against Ser Arthur Dayne. It was a humbling experience to them as it showed just how good their brother was and how much they needed to keep training. William was sparring against one of the greatest knights and swordsman in the Seven Kingdoms and it seemed to be a fairly even fight. Ser Arthur Dayne was the more experienced and trained but Will had youth and unpredictability on his side. He had trained with Ser Arthur Dayne for years but adding in his training with Hundred Eyes and his agility it made him a very skilled fighter.

"How long have they been training?" Ser Davos wondered as he sipped some wine. He had just lost a few coins to Thoros who was happily winning their little game.

Cedric checked the hourglass he turned when the prince and Ser Arthur began sparring. "About an hour." Cedric answered as Ser Arthur blocked Will's thrust before catching the practice blade with his two swords and pushing it to the side and immediately stepping into the prince's guard where he held his sword against the prince's neck.

"Dead." Ser Arthur Dayne announced.

"I guess I am." Will acknowledged his defeat and the two stepped back before bowing to one another. "I thought I had you this time."

"Almost but clearly the student has not yet eclipsed the teacher. It's still 27 to your 10." Ser Arthur pointed out. "But your training is progressing nicely. No doubt that you already are one of the finest swordsmen at your age but soon enough you'll be one of the finest swordsmen that ever exists with your exploits told through stories and songs."

"I don't care about what's sung about me." Will stated as he and Ser Arthur walked over to the others. Missandei handed them both cups of water.

"Are you sure, your grace? I've heard the sailors and traders speak of such songs being sung about your efforts here. The song of the Warrior with the Swords." Ser Davos said and everyone looked at him. "Don't expect me to sing it. You'll wish for a quick death."

"What kind of song is it?" Gendry wondered.

"A rather jovial and happy song. I reckon its been sung in taverns, brothels, and wherever wine and booze is likely to be found. A song sung about your efforts in toppling the slave trade here in Slaver's Bay." Ser Davos told him. "Songs have been sung about other figures in history so with what you've accomplished it only makes sense that you receive your own."

"We'll see. Anyway, with the sun set I think we can end our day here. We'll meet for our morning meal. Gendry, Edric, don't forget that you have your morning lessons with Cedric afterward." Will told them and they nodded. The group split up after that, going their separate ways with Ser Arthur Dayne and Missandei following Will. He picked at his tunic and felt the sweat stick it to his body. "I could use a bath."

"The baths are waiting for you, your grace." Missandei told him and he smiled.

"Thank you, Missandei." They walked into pyramid and after a nice long bath everyone got some rest.

The next day…

Will changed his clothing so he was wearing brown pants and a matching tunic with a jacket. The sleeves of his jacket covered his forearm guards and he had his two Valyrian Steel daggers in his boots. And with the help of Missandei he changed his hair and put on an eyepatch so he wasn't as recognizable. Granted, he looked ridiculous but he was able to walk through the streets and no one recognized him. The reason he was wearing different clothing was because he was heading into the city to do some investigating. His allies and network of informants in the city made him aware of a small minority of people who weren't exactly happy with his taking over of Meereen, abolishing of slavery, execution of the ruling Masters and Slavers and generally everything else he was doing. It wasn't news to him considering that dealt with this kind of thing in the other two cities with a small group even attempting a power grab when he had to face the Dothraki Horde outside of Astapor. At the moment, the most that this minority did was just protest and get into fights with the Unsullied. No one was seriously hurt but Will had a feeling that this group wouldn't sit by and stick with protesting and harmless fighting for very long. They called themselves the Sons of the Harpy and the more he could find out about them and the sooner he did it, the better off he would be.

That's what led Will in disguise sitting at a table outside of a tavern in Meereen. The owner had seen an uptick in goods and business with visiting traders and sailors since Will's liberation so he was more then happy with how things have changed. He was one of the informants in the city and informed him that he saw some people he knew were Harpies meet around the area. Will was sitting at a table with Oberyn Martell who was also disguise in a similar manner but not to extreme. He just wore less flashy clothing. Oberyn and Will sat together, eating bowls of stew with Oberyn drinking some wine as well.

"You truly believe the Sons of the Harpy will make a move here?" Oberyn asked him as he poured himself another cup of wine.

"Maybe. If they don't, the tavern owner can at least identify one of them. After that, we follow and learn more." He answered, wiping his mouth with a rag, and taking a sip of some water.

"Not that I don't mind assisting but any particular reason I am here and not your sworn shield?" Oberyn wondered.

"Ser Arthur Dayne and the others are nearby to assist as well." Will said and he was right. Around the area was Ser Arthur Dayne, Hundred Eyes, Ser Garlan Tyrell, Smalljon Umber, Beric Dondarrion, and Thoros of Myr, all of whom were wearing different clothing and their weapons concealed so they didn't stand out as much. "But I felt that other then assisting in the usual strategic meeting you haven't done much since we had to take the city. Figured this would be a better use of your time then sitting around all day."

"If only. Sitting around is fine but in the presence of some better company would be preferred. That would be another possible location for us to watch from. I imagine even the Sons of the Harpy travel to the city's many brothels." Oberyn pointed out only for Will to disregard that idea knowing the Red Viper just wanted an excuse to go. "Come now, your grace. You are no longer a shy maiden and if what my daughter has said about you then I imagine you can find several girls to put that boundless endurance and energy you have to good use."

"But knowing you, you're likely known at every brothel in this city at this point. Subtly is our ally here." He told Oberyn and the Prince of Dorne had to concede that.

"I'm glad that you have become less dower and serious during our time together, your grace. Clearly it has done wonders for your momentum in Essos but I also imagine for the company you keep. You've seen for yourself how fierce Dornish women can be and now that you have taken one Sand Snake I imagine it won't be long before the others have you in their grasp." Oberyn joked and Will just chuckled when two men walked through the courtyard. The owner of the tavern glanced over at Will and gave him a subtle nod before nudging his head at the men who walked past.

"Two men. We follow and see where they lead." Will said to Oberyn. He nodded in response and finished his cup of wine.

"Hopefully somewhere more interesting then this." Oberyn remarked as the two waited a bit before getting up and following. The rest of the Prince's party discreetly followed after.

Will and Oberyn kept a good distance back from the two men so they weren't spotted. Thankfully, the two men they were following took their path through open streets with plenty of people walking around until they turned into a smaller and more narrow side alley. Will peaked behind the corner and followed them through the twisting alleyways of Meereen's more crowded areas until they arrived at a relatively small square with only a water well and one tavern. The two men met up with another man before they entered through one of the passageways that led to the sewage and passageways underneath the city.

"I figured that's where they be. Rats always scurry in the dark. Remind me to seal up those passageways when we're done here." Will said to Oberyn and he nodded.

The two walked into the passageway and were on alert. The ambient light lit their path but soon that went away and the pitch black of the passageways would have been the end except there was the distant light of a torch nearby. The two followed the light until it got brighter and brighter. They hugged the wall and heard voices so they stayed quiet and turned the corner. There were about six men gathered around a table with torches on the walls or lanterns lit to provide light in the dark passageways. They were speaking too low for Will or Oberyn to hear anything but the light from the torches did give them a glimpse of the knives and makeshift clubs on the table.

"It would seem we found them." Oberyn told Will and he nodded when he heard the rattle of footsteps closing in. Will pushed Oberyn's head down and grabbed the hand of an assailant holding a knife before he could stab him. He grabbed the man's arm and pulled him around so he could slam the man's face into the stone wall before taking the knife and plunging it into the back of his neck, killing him. "Thank you for that."

More footsteps were heard and the six men from the table rushed over with their knives and makeshift clubs but then six more came from the other side holding similar weapons. They had trapped Oberyn and Will from both sides and boxed them in. The men were wearing the old Meereenese clothing of the upper class which meant they were the former masters or elite Will didn't kill and likely doing this out of revenge. "Well, the odds could be better but I've had worse." He reached down and unsheathed his Valyrian steel daggers and held them towards Oberyn. "I'm gonna want those back."

"Thank you." Oberyn took them and got back to back with the Prince. "Just a reminder, if we had followed my plan we'd be at a brothel right about now."

"I know. When one of them charge you let me know and bend over." Will told him and Oberyn nodded before he looked at the Sons of the Harpy. "Let's not let this come to violence. If you all would surrender and lay down your arms, I promise that no excessive force will be done onto you."

The men didn't take his warning and one of them charged Oberyn. "Charge!"

Oberyn bent over and Will rolled over his back, kicking the Harpy in the face. He activated his hidden blades and stabbed the Harpy in the neck. He blocked a club swing with his vambraces and slashed the Harpy across the neck with his hidden blade before kicking back another Harpy in the chest. He pushed the man's body into his friend and then jumped off the wall to land a flying jump kick on another Harpy. Oberyn ducked and dodged the club from one of the Harpies before managing to stab him in the side and then slash his throat with one of the daggers. He pushed his body away and sidestepped a knife to the stomach allowing him to slash the arm of his attacker and then stab him in the stomach. The Harpy held onto Oberyn's arm and didn't let go giving another Harpy a chance to thrust with his knife but Oberyn just moved the man's body in the way as a makeshift shield. The Harpy was stabbed in the back and Oberyn kicked his body away. One Harpy tried to swing his club at him from the side but Will grabbed his arm and threw him over his shoulder to the ground and stabbed him in the neck with his hidden blade.

Two of the Harpies rushed at the prince while he was crouched but one was pushed to the ground while the other received a kick to the face. Will stabbed the Harpy pushed to the ground in the back of the neck and saw Hundred Eyes disarm the Harpy, break his arm before doing several quick chain punches to his chest and then knock him out with a palm strike to the throat. He then threw two throwing knives, killing one of the Harpies who tried to attack Oberyn. More torches lit up the passageway as Ser Arthur and the others arrived with a group of the Unsullied and quickly surrounded the remaining six Harpies. Said Harpies tried to attack but were quickly subdued.

Ser Arthur and the others walked over to see Oberyn and Will alive and unharmed if covered in a little blood. "A successful venture into the city, it would seem." Ser Arthur pointed out.

"Yes, it would." Will agreed as the Unsullied restrained and tied up the Harpies. "Now we'll get a better picture of what's going on with the Sons of the Harpy."

Oberyn walked over and handed the prince his daggers back. "To be honest, I thought they would have had golden Harpy masks. Imagine my surprise and disappointment to see no masks."

"Hopefully we've stopped them before they get masks." Will pointed out and they headed back to the Pyramid. The Harpies were placed in cells underneath the pyramid and after speaking with the Meereenese council about what happened, Will gathered everyone for a discussion. "As many of you know we've captured six Sons of the Harpy and they're currently in the cells beneath the Great Pyramid. They aren't speaking for the moment but we have managed to identify them and the deceased. They're former Masters and High Born Meereenese, likely doing this because they oppose our presence in the city and how things have changed."

"Clearly this group is different from the workings we've dealt with in Astapor or Yunkai. They were clearly planning an attack and would have gone through with it if we didn't stop them." Ser Arthur added.

"The 12 today can't be the only ones in the city, can they?" Thoros questioned.

"Likely not but the men captured aren't speaking." Will told them. "We'll give them the night. Tomorrow we'll do more to figure out who they are and what secrets they know. In the meantime, stay wary and keep your eyes and ears open for any information you can find. The one advantage they have is that they know this city better than we ever will."

Everyone nodded and proceeded to file out of the room one by one until it was just Will and Ser Arthur. "You don't believe this to be over, do you?" Arthur asked Will and he shrugged.

"I can't say for certain. I'd like to believe this is over but I don't think it is." He answered and Arthur nodded.

"On that we can agree. Still, we acted and our it has given us an advantage. We'll see how our advantage works in our favor going forward." Ser Arthur walked over and pat him on the shoulder. "Come. Let's get some food."

The two got some food and then Will fed Orys and Durran. Afterward, Will met with Edric and Gendry to see how they were doing. Then he met with Oberyn considering what happened but the prince of Dorne was fine and had absconded to a brothel with Ellaria. He was fine and as he put it; he always goes to a brothel after a fight. Afterward, he spent some time meditating and breathing when Tyene visited him in his room. She wanted to see how he was doing but also had an ulterior motive. And you can probably guess what it was.

The day after the next day…

Things in Meereen had changed up a bit. With the help of Oberyn who implemented similar techniques on the Lannister prisoners and assassins from the Triarch to get the information they needed they got the names of other Harpies in the city totally maybe a hundred. Apparently that was all the Harpies were able to recruit at the moment but there was a chance that there were more likeminded Meereenese out there. When they got their names they were rounded up and imprisoned. Solid work but they had to keep a watchful eye. The Harpies were silenced for now but more could come soon enough.

A ship pulled into the Meereenese harbor and its origin was the city of Volantis. Sailors and ship hands secured the ship to the docks while traders and workers removed the crates of goods they had. Some was food while others were fine silks or other goods. Disembarking from said ship was Autolycus, Amphiaraus, and Iolaus, returning from their mission in Volantis.

"City looks better then when we left it." Iolaus pointed out.

"It did. Guess we've been gone a while." Autolycus remarked as the three made their way through the city to the Great Pyramid. They were brought to a meeting room where food and water were brought up. The prince and members of his party arrived to see Autolycus, Amphiaraus and Iolaus finishing up their meal. "Your grace."

"Good to see you three alive and in one piece." He walked over and shook hands with each of them. "Where Hercules?"

"He's still in Volantis with Tydeus and Atalanta. He sent us back to let you know something that couldn't be sent via messenger or raven." Autolycus pulled out a rolled piece of paper. When he flattened it out on the table everyone saw it was a drawing of an area by the water with its streets and buildings drawn on as well. "A rare opportunity presents itself."

"What kind of opportunity?" Stannis Baratheon asked.

"I sent Hercules and the others on a mission to Volantis. To better gauge the city, learn any possible information they could and report back. I doubt the Masters of Volantis or the Triarch will take my success lying down and I'm not going to be caught unprepared this time." Will answered and considering what they attempted and what nearly happened then everyone understood why he chose this course of action. "We've only gotten so far on word of mouth from the sailors and traders so sending people into the city itself would give us more. What did you learn?"

"Things in Volantis have grown…uneasy with your actions in Slaver's Bay. The slave trade is still there, there is no doubt, but its profitability has in fact suffered. Stories and songs have spread about your efforts here with the Red Priests and Priestess of that R'hllor religion speaking your praise. The Masters of Volantis continue to lose ships of slaves thanks to the efforts of your navy. They're forced to commit to land transport which only makes things much harder and much more expensive. Not to mention that hiring the Golden Company cost them a lot of money. The nobles and masters of the city have made their displeasure known to the ruling Triarch which means they have been doing everything they can to appease them. One of which consists of them traveling out of their palace and into the city itself. A sort of show to the city and the nobles that things will get better. It's an attempt to make up for everything they've done. It's set to take place in a fortnight and their path will take them directly through here…" Autolycus pointed to the spot on the map by the water. "…by barge on the Rhyone on the Eastern section of the city."

"Is that important?" Smalljon wondered.

"Well for one thing, the Triarch are known to never leave their palace unless they're being voted out and the new members are voted in." Ser Davos explained. "This is highly unusual."

"Ser Davos is right. I was raised in Volantis and something like this has never happened. Looks like you've pushed them in the right direction, your grace." Thoros told him.

"Question is, what do you plan to do with this information?" Garlan Tyrell asked.

"Simple. I'm going to kill two of the Triarchs." He stated and that took a moment for everyone to process.

"Sounds like fun." Oberyn remarked.

Line Break xxxxx

Planning for the trip began immediately and given the limited information they had and the timeframe, it needed to be simple and quick. Considering the dense population and close quarters, an assassination attempt from up close was out of the question. The Triarchs would have guards and soldiers around them at all time. Even though the guards would be keeping the public away barge and then Triarch when they disembarked. They'd be packed in tight in the crowd and getting up close would be next to impossible before they'd be spotted. And the area by the water where the barge would dock was far enough from a building so Will couldn't climb up and try an aerial assassination. Plus, getting that close would give the Triarchs a chance to flee so up close was out.

Using black powder was also out of the equation as it could cause too much damage and put other people at risk. Will just wanted Triarchs Malaqua Maegyr and Nyessos Vhassar dead since they were the ones who gave the Golden Company the poisoned arrow that nearly killed him and then hired the other assassins. Triarch Doniphos Paenymion, for all intents and purposes, was someone who made no move against him. And from the information Autolycus and the others were able to get, mostly from drunk nobles speaking at taverns or at gatherings, Doniphos Paenymion advocated against conflict with the Prince. He was one of the few nobles who didn't make his money via the slave trade and didn't want a war with Will which made him very unpopular in Volantis and likely to be replaced in the coming elections. So, it was just two targets. Up close was no good, black powder would hurt too many people, and poisoning wasn't a possibility. There's no way they could actually get something for them to drink and it had too many circumstances and variables that could go wrong. That left one option left. A distance kill which was Will's specialty.

Thankfully the map that Autolycus had was well drawn and showed every single building in the area by the barge which aided in the planning. Will sat with the map in front of him and everyone else gathered around or nearby as they tried to figure out the best way to pull their plan off. A marker was placed near the water where the Triarch would disembark and then another marker was placed across from that one, the building directly across the area where Will would shoot from.

"The building seems right, the angle seems right, three exits from which to leave the city, and a vantage point of the whole dock and most of the area. It's a 50-yard shot. Seems simple. I'm not even an archer but give me a crossbow and I could likely make that shot. What's the problem?" Garlan questioned.

"It is simple but that's because it's not possible. We already checked the area and the owner of the building is heavily invested in the slave trade meaning he won't let us anywhere near the roof, especially if we're there to kill the two Triarch who actually want to keep it going. And he's spoken quite vocally about how much he doesn't like what the Prince is doing so the second he senses something wrong he'll let the nearest soldiers know." Iolaus told him.

"And the three exits are only actually one because the second the alarm bells are rung, the gates to the area will be shut closed as quickly." Thoros added, knowing from experience.

"And the gates are at least a six minute walk by foot and running after everything that happens will only draw more attention. That leaves only one exit remaining and that is a tavern about 20-yards away. There are always more paid soldiers there then anyone else." Autolycus finished, putting the pin in that plan.

"So that means our distance option is out. I'm sorry your grace but maybe this is a sign that it shouldn't be done." Beric Dondarrion told him as Will looked over the map and saw a possibility.

"Wait a minute. How about here?" Will placed a marker on the map to the right of where the docks were, just outside the gates of the immediate area. There was a building just past the gates and it was outside the immediate area. "It's outside of the gates surrounding the area where the barge will dock and the Triarch will get out, it has a good angle of the area and it's far away enough for us to leave and slip out to a boat here on the river that can take us back to the ship."

"Sounds like a good idea and Hercules suggested but it's one hundred and seventy-five yards away." Amphiaraus told him but Will was undeterred.

"I can make that." Will stated and many thought he was being ridiculous. They knew he was the best archer there was in the room but a shot from 175 yards away seemed impossible.

Will and the group went into the mountains to test it and see if it was a viable shot. Autolycus and Iolaus walked down a hill with a circular wooden shield as the target.

"All right, that seemed about right. 175 yards away." Iolaus said before he and Autolycus placed the shield against a rock for support before returning to the others.

Will stood at the front of the group with his composite recurve bow. He used a telescope to check the distance and was able to see the shield in the distance before handing it back to Cedric. A pouch was tied to his waist which had some powder so he dipped his fingers into it to make sure they were dry before grabbing an arrow from his quiver. Placed on the drawstring and pulled back to his face, he took aim and adjusted for the breeze and angle he needed. Everyone waited with some using telescopes to look at the target in the distance. Will took a deep breath and when he had the right angle for the shot he released the arrow and let it fly. It flew through the air and sunk into the target at 175 yards away.

"How'd I do?" He wondered as those that saw him hit the target were in stunned silenced. The telescopes were passed around so everyone could see with their own eyes and that he in fact made the shot. Will then drew another arrow and fired it, hitting the target yet again. He smiled in satisfaction when he noticed everyone looking at him. "It's two of the Triarchs."

With the plan now set, a small group would leave for Volantis in the morning. The group would be Autolycus, Amphiaraus, and Iolaus since they knew where Hercules would be and where they would meet up with them. Other then that it would be Will, Ser Arthur, Thoros of Myr, and Garlan Tyrell. They'd be disguised as ship hands on the ship that Ser Davos and Stannis would sail to Volantis. Everyone else would remain in Meereen and act like nothing has changed so as to now draw unwanted attention and risk word getting out of what they were doing or that the prince was in Volantis.

Will was in training courtyard getting in some last minute practice with his bow just to make sure he was set. After putting in a hundred arrows at four various targets he was ready. He walked over and placed his bow in a bag along with his empty quiver when he heard footsteps coming from behind. He quickly turned around and raised his hand, catching a whip. It wrapped around his wrist and hand and he was pulled forward. He lost his footing was knocked onto his back when someone got on top of him only for Will to gain the leverage to roll his attacker over. He got on top and activated his hidden blade to see it was Nymeria.

"Oh…I am quite liking this position." She remarked and gave him a playful wink.

"Nymeria. This is the second time you did this you know." He pointed out, retracting his hidden blade.

"I do and it would seem this time…" She maneuvered her body and hooked her legs around his side before rolling over. She straddled him and wrapped part of her whip behind his head so she could pull him close. "…the sand snake has managed to trap the stag/wolf."

"Really? You don't think I can get out of this and knock you off?" He pointed out when he felt her wiggle her rear into his crouch which is when he noticed something or rather the lack of something. She was wearing her typical Dornish dress with the buckle around her belly but she decided to forgo the pants she wore underneath. In fact, she wasn't wearing any kind of pants. "I take it wearing nothing under your dress was a conscious decision."

She smiled and pulled him in closer so he could smell her lilac perfume she was wearing. "It was. Call me jealous but after our last encounter I thought it would have sparked your curiosity enough for you to come visit me. Imagine my surprise when you did not. And after hearing Tyene go on yet again with how wondrous you are I decided to take matters into my own hands."

"Perhaps we should—mfffftt—" Will was cut off as Nymeria leaned forward and kissed him. And it was a gentle kiss from a lover but a fierce and passionate one. She used the hold on her whip by his head to pull him in close and she wrestled her mouth against his, her tongue wrestling with his. She rocked herself against his crotch and eventually felt him kissing back. She loosened her grip on her whip and dragged her hands across his arms and down his chest before taking his arms and placing them on her rear.

Will got the leverage and rolled them down so she was on the ground. He leaned down and kissed her neck before trailing himself down and pushing her dress to the side so he could grasp her breasts. Nymeria moaned in pleasure before Will kept moving south. He lifted her dress up and dove down. "Oh, are you plan on using your magic tongue. My sister said it was the best thing she's—Oh!" Nymeria let out a sharp gasp and guttural moan as the words were caught in her throat. She wrapped her legs around his head and placed her hands on his head to pull him closer. All Nymeria could muster were pleasured gasps and moans as the prince's talented tongue went to work and soon enough she arched her back and had to cover her mouth in order to muffle any sound.

After that the two retired to the prince's chambers rather quickly.

Several hours later…(1)

Nymeria moaned and let out sharp gasps as she was rocked back and forth by Will who had mounted her from behind and moved into her with long, powerful strokes. She pushed back against his thrusts and reached back to grab his thigh, her fingers digging into his skin. Will grit his teeth as he brought one of his hands down on her ass while the other reached around and grabbed her breasts. She then moved his hand to her hair and had him pull. He did but pulled her up so he could hold her from behind, his hands traveling across her body as his continued to thrust into her without missing a beat. Sweat caked their bodies as they had been intimate for a long time yet Will's stamina held tough as he didn't slow.

"Don't stop…" Nymeria muttered as her breathing got labored before he wailed with pleasure.

She arched her back and let out a powerful moan, shuddering in pleasure that racked through her entire body as Will did the same emptying inside her. Their breathing was heavy but Will held her close as he laid them down gently and kissed her by the shoulder. Nymeria moaned in delight and blissful release as he glided his hands down her body and rolled to the side while also peppering her neck with gentle kisses. Like a gentle lover he made her feel like she was floating on a cloud. She tilted her head and kissed him and he kissed back.

"Hmm, my sister's words did not do you justice." Nymeria managed to turn around and pulled herself in closer, planting kisses on his chest before making her way up to his neck. Her Cheshire grin etched on her face as she traced a finger across his cheek. "Passionate yet fierce. Whoever shall be your wife will no doubt be a lucky lady."

"I will be lucky to be her husband." He muttered and she chuckled, finding it cute that his honor was still there.

"Still ever the knightly prince." She joked. "Well, you're not married yet and until that day you get to experience the pleasure that is Dornish woman. Let this sensation stay with you as you go to Volantis to kill the Triarch. Then return…and Tyene and I will make sure you are rewarded for your efforts."

She pulled him into a fierce kiss and even bit his lip before rolling over and straddling him. She reached down and adjusted the prince before lowering herself down and letting out a pleasurable moan.

Suffice to say that both would remember that night. Will needed the rest as tomorrow he leaves for Volantis for his mission. Whether it goes according to plan or not…that was hard to say.

End of Chapter 12

Game of Thrones: History and Lore of Westeros and Essos.

The Seven Kingdoms by William Baratheon.

The Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. It's history long, storied, full of tales of great heroism from the age of Heroes to blood and battle during the times of conquest. It's land as diverse as the people who call it home. It's beginnings start with the Children of the Forest and the old Gods who called it home, a story known only to the children from the North who still hold to that faith. Stories of the Children of the Forest, Giants, Wargs, and other manner of mystical creatures during a time when magic ruled. All that changed when the First Men appeared…and even more so when the Andals sailed across the Narrow Sea.

The Seven Kingdoms got their name because of the seven independent kingdoms that thrived on the continent. The Kingdom of the North, the Kingdom of the Mountain and the Vale, the Kingdom of the Isles and the Rivers, the Kingdom of the Rock, the Kingdom of the Stormlands, the Kingdom of the Reach, and the Kingdom of Dorne. That's what Westeros looked like until the time of conquest when Aegon the Conqueror and his sister-wives Visenya and Rhaenys invaded the land from the perch of Dragonstone with a small army and three great dragons. After dragon fire and bloodshed, everyone bowed to the Targaryens with the exception of Dorne but eventually they joined the fold.

The North, ruled by House Stark, Lord Paramounts of the North. They're an ancient House that draws its ties to the First Men during the Age of Heroes. Their seat is the Capital of Winterfell. Their words: Winter is coming.

The Vale, ruled by House Arryn, Lord Paramounts of the Vale. Their ancestor Ser Artys Arryn was said to have flown atop a giant eagle, landing on the topmost mountain of the Vale and defeated the Griffin King, the last of the First Men Mountain Kings. They eventually bent the knee to the Targaryens. Their seat is the Eyrie. Their words: As high as Honor.

The Riverlands, ruled by House Tully, Lord Paramounts of the Trident. They rose to prominence during the War of Conquest when Lord Edmyn Tully rebelled against the King of the Isles and the Rivers, Harren the Black to support the Targaryens. Their seat is Riverrun. Their words: Family, Duty, Honor.

The Westerlands, ruled by House Lannister, Lord Paramounts of the Westerlands. A house with a long history, they are descended by the legendary trickster Lann the Clever who swindled Casterly Rock from House Casterly during the age of heroes. And in their efforts gained control of the vast riches of the regions for thousands of years until they bent the knee to the Targaryens. Their seat is Casterly Rock. Their words: Hear Me Roar. But to be honest, ask anyone not from Westeros and most will say that their words are a Lannister always pays his debts.

The Stormlands, ruled by House Baratheon, Lord Paramounts of the Stormlands. Founded by Orys Baratheon, a general in the army of Aegon the Conqueror and bastard half-brother. He took Storm's End from the last of the Storm King's, Argilac the Arrogant and married his daughter. Their seat is Storm's End. Their words: Ours if the Fury.

The Reach, ruled by House Tyrell, Lords Paramounts of the Reach. They were originally stewards and attendants to the original ruling house of the Reach, House Gardener. But when King Mern Gardener attempted to fight against the Targaryens during the Age of Conquest and subsequently died in the Field of Fire, House Tyrell surrendered the Reach to the Targaryens and were advanced to the position of rulers of the region. Their seat is Highgarden. Their words: Growing Strong.

Dorne, ruled by House Martell, the southernmost part of the continent. It's history is very different compared to the rest of Westeros. Dorne was its own sovereign kingdom before the Targaryens invaded much like the rest of the continent only it was the one kingdom to keep its independence. Formed centuries ago, by the First Men but when Princess Nymeria of the Rhoynar came to the land, she married Lord Mors Martell of Sunspear and was able to conquer the entire peninsula, creating the Principality of Dorne. When Aegon Targaryen invaded, the Dornish refused to meet him in open battle and instead fought the Conqueror in asymmetrical ways. Eventually, causing enough grief that the Conqueror withdrew, leaving Dorne alone. A century later, King Daeron, the Young Dragon invaded Dorne and although he was successful Dorne eventually rose up in rebellion and he died. Eventually, the Dornish were pulled into the rest of the continent by marriage when Prince Daeron married Princess Myria Martell and Dorne was brought into the fold. Because of its unique history, its identity is strong as are its people and many of its customs were allowed to endure since it joined peacefully. Having met the Princes of Dorne, the Dornish spirit is as strong as it ever was. It's seat is Sunspear. Their words: Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken.

The Crownlands, ruled directly by the Royalty of the Iron Throne from King's Landing. Bordering the Riverlands, Stormlands, and the Reach, this region was the first secured by the Targaryens and was their foothold for their invasion. Not technically a kingdom but rather the capital region of Westeros. For most of the three centuries of its existence it was ruled directly by House Targaryen and their vassals but now it is ruled by House Baratheon, my father's house. Containing King's Landing, its surrounding land, and the Island of Dragonstone.

There's one other region in Westeros that you should know about but to be honest I'm only including them because they're still technically a part of the Kingdom.

The Iron Islands, ruled by House Greyjoy. A bunch of bandits, brigands, marauders, and pirates whose only noteworthy accomplishments are their prowess at sea. That was until their leader, Balon Greyjoy attempted a foolish rebellion against the Seven Kingdoms. The idiot actually thought he could declare sovereignty and in doing so he tried to take me as a hostage while his men raided, burnt towns, and took what they wanted. That rebellion was ended as quickly as it started and the Greyjoy's paid in blood. We stormed their castle at Pyke and Balon Greyjoy was forced to bow to my father, Robert Baratheon. And I took his hand that day. Now that I'm older, a part of me thinks I should have just killed him and got it over with but if they try anything like that again then I'll finish what I started all those years ago.

The Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. A vast land with a diverse collection of people who call it home with just as a diverse history. My father, King Robert rules the Seven Kingdoms with the aid of his small council and one day I'll have to do the same. You might be wondering why I'm telling you all this? Why is the history of the Seven Kingdoms so important? Well, it's only through the history that I think I can best rule in the future when I'm ready.

I am William Baratheon, Son of Robert of the House Baratheon, and Lyanna of House Stark. Crown Prince and Heir to the Seven Kingdoms. The blood of the First Men, the Andals, and Targaryens flows through me. I shall return home one day and I will be the prince and hopeful king that the Seven Kingdoms deserves.

The End.

1). Like I said before in a previous chapter, these kinds of abbreviated scenarios or implied situations are all I'll do in terms of lemons.

And that's the end of Chapter 12. I hoped you guys liked it. A lot of has happened, the Harpies have struck but Will has struck back and now he's going to go on the offensive and keep Volantis from making another attack on him. Sneaking into a slave city to kill two of its leaders seems impossible but he's made of habit of doing the impossible before. It'll be a bit of fun.

I hope you guys like the little addition of the History and lore at the end. I watched some of the Histories and Lores of Game of Thrones on Youtube which were extras in the DVDs of each season and narrated by an actor from the show. I wanted to do something similar so every chapter from now on will have a small expert like this one did.

Next chapter, Will's adventure to Volantis and its fallout. Until then, everyone stay safe.

Updates for August/Early September: Adventures through the Multiverse will still be updated but I might need a little extra time to update it to exactly how I want it so unfortunately it'll be updated on September 5th, which is Labor Day. I don't want to rush and give you guys a half-assed chapter so stick with me and it'll be up then. Also updates for September will be next chapters for Spectacular Spider-man and The Perfect One, to be posted on September 30th.
