Scene Change: Training Grounds, Fairy's Garden, Year x766

Rep Pov

My head feels like it was run over by an eighteen wheeler.

Though I guess that's to be expected considering I've been training myself into the ground trying to gain more control over my power every day ever since Bruno was injured…

and after I almost killed a man in my rampage.

That was a wake up call, I was right to avoid using any new powers that were untested in the field. Not to mention if I wasn't so experienced in flying at that point I probably would've crashed and burned. Now I'm back to mastering what I have and taking my time with it, though I have mastered Model H I decided to move on to F since it's the biometal with the heaviest emphasis on power.

The transition was strange to say the least, especially since X, Zero and Harpuia all had fighting styles similar in tactics to each other. But Model F was a beast of a different type, instead of hitting hard and fast it focuses on hitting hard and then hitting even harder. It was something to work on, that's for sure.

And boy have I started working on Model F cause while it is hard to get used to it, it's pretty simple. And wow are its kickbacks harsh and not because of recoil. At this point after I managed to uproot a tree by pushing on it without the busters, I'm convinced it's going to be the hardest hitting of all of the biometal fragments in terms of raw strength.

Though its energy reserves are the lowest of them all, maximized output and all but the reserves used to get that output are miniscule to say the least, I can't even boost it using my ether reserves. Model F uses a strange energy compared to the others I've been using so far, one that I can't replicate using ethernano I can only boost it. My guess is that the armor has to use that strange energy due to the armor that Model F has, it's a lot more durable than the others.

And because of that, while I am progressing faster in mastering it than the other fragments. I can't bring out as much of its potential as fast as possible due to just how draining it is. I can't maintain the transformation for more than a couple hours at a time if even that since I still have to train using it. Still though I am figuring it out relatively quickly since Fafnir has a surprisingly patient fighting style for his personality.

It seems that Fafnir actually used a fighting style revolving around tanking and then dishing the damage back tenfold. Unlike the others which seem to be evasion based with durability being secondary to that especially so for Model H. This would explain why Model F is so heavily armored and why the busters are so huge, Fafnir is essentially a walking artillery cannon with double the cannon.

Of course this also translates to the dash jets being incredibly weak. The armor is extremely heavy thus negating almost all of the recoil from the buster blasts, but by that same token my usual tactic of blitzing and blasting using the dash jets is out since I can barely move a meter without stopping completely and the dash jets burning themselves out.

I didn't even know that was possible. Yet another thing about the biometals that I didn't know, just like why the armor of the HX form I used before looked so different to Vent and Aile.

This brings us to now, with me sparring with the kids for the first time in Model F. and just for the record, being punched in the face and not feeling it is funny when you see their reaction though I can't say the same for being punched in the face with lightning. Case in point-

I was standing in the middle of the field in the stance of a certain senator who's arms are very strong, Laxus constantly throwing punch after kick at me and I couldn't even feel it. Cana was even behind me in my blind spot throwing all she could using her Queen's Gambit spell she made after being inspired by my lightning tornado. A spell that created a vortex that got stronger the more lightning magic was thrown around it, a perfect spell for her to cast when working together with Laxus.

Though unfortunately it isn't even denting my energy reserves cause it can't even get past the armor even if it's giving me the mother of all headaches from the constant noise created. Though I guess that's another reason why the energy reserves are so low.

Deciding that I'd had enough testing out the defences of Model F, I punched Laxus away as lightly as I could. Still sending him flying, before I turned around taking a look at Cana's direction and using the new "Projectile Path Guidance System" Fafnir had, blasted her using an uncharged buster-less uncompressed fireball. Knocking her flat from the explosion of it hitting the ground in front of her.

The guidance system makes a lot more sense than in the game now that I've gained Model F's transformation. In the ZX games it felt like it was just shoehorned in to give Model F a gimmick, just like the others. But it turns out that the system was just to make it so that the slow moving attacks that Model F has can land on target instead of being dodged by way of changing course mid-air.

"That's enough you two, I need to switch forms." I said while changing to Model Z, the heavy orange and white armor disappearing with Zero's vest and clothes appearing in its place like I've had it ever since I learned how to alter the forms.

"That new form of yours is crazy Teach." Said Cana while she stood up, her now being taller than me while I was transformed. "No matter what we threw at ya, it didn't even make you flinch!"

"I'll say," Said Laxus, still lying on the ground. His voice is no longer the high pitch it used to be. In fact he's starting to look like his canon counterpart especially since he took to wearing that jacket over his shoulders, he was just a little shorter. "I've become one of the strongest members in the guild but I couldn't even get you to move an inch."

"My new form is meant for maximized defence and firepower." I said, shaking my head. "If you hit me like that in my other forms you would've taken me down in the first flurry since I wouldn't have been able to dodge it."

The two of them have surpassed me in all honesty, if that was kept up I would've lost due to energy depletion from just keeping the form up. Not to mention they can still do that to me in my other forms too, all of the spars we've had in the past few months all came down to attrition and since that's what I've been working on for over a decade now of course I'd win. Still they can keep up, maybe even win if they get a good hit in and that's frankly terrifying.

"Hey I've been wondering this for a while," said Cana shrugging her shoulders, trying to look casual. "When are you going to join a guild? You're plenty strong already, especially since you trained me and Laxus and we're A-class mages!"

"At this point," I said, walking over to where Laxus was laying spread eagle. "It's less about gaining power, and more about gaining control of the power I've built up."

As I finished saying while stopping in front of where Laxus laid, I held my hand out offering to help him up which he took. Helping Laxus up, I noticed that he's actually a lot bulkier now than the last time I saw him a few months ago. In fact he actually has some of the tattoos his canon counterpart has too.

"Thanks," Said Laxus after dusting himself off a bit. "What do you mean by 'gaining control'? From what we've seen you do, you have near perfect control of your magic. What are you so afraid of?"

As Laxus said that, the image of the burned body of the bandits that I nearly killed came to mind. While I did complete the mission, and I did save the slaves, the method I took to get there…

"My magic is extremely volatile on higher levels," I said, shaking the image out of my head while walking a bit away from the- well I guess at this point I can't call them kids with them being so big now, can I? "It's still impossible to hold back when I kick things into gear."

'And when I give up control.' I thought to myself, adding onto my previous statement.

Channeling a bit of magic and some of Model F's energy into my hand, drawing on the experience Fafnir has with manipulating fire and the data I had from beating Macao all those years ago. I summoned a small flame into my hand before condensing it while simultaneously feeding more and more power into it adding energy from the biometals as I do so.

"Mom," said Laxus in a slightly anxious tone. "What's that for?"

Instead of answering I instead summoned my buster before loading the fireball into it in place of a charge shot and take aim.

"Woah Teach," said Cana, anxiety obvious in her tone. "That is a lot of magic you're loading into that thing. What's going on?"

FIring into the sky above us, at the last minute just as I know the fireball is leaving the barrel I charge as much power as I can into the buster shot without leaving me with no energy left.

"Wha-" I heard Laxus shout as the fireball detonates above us, exploding far into the sky. Far enough not to hurt anyone due to the massive surge I sent into the barrel as it fired.

The shockwave was enough to send the two of them flying, Cana getting flung like a tumbleweed but still unhurt and Laxus was able to catch himself and root himself using a fist in the ground.

The explosion lasted for about ten seconds, and while nobody was hurt, the effects of my attack still showed themselves in the form of random debris both rocks and trees. Some even being the same size as me, all strewn across the clearing. Both Cana and Laxus had managed to recover fully by then and were standing there staring at the spot in the sky I fired at.

"That's barely equal to half the power I used in that mission," I said referring to the mission that started my crusade to gain perfect control over the biometals' combined power. "I hope this shows you why I'm so scared now. Why I still haven't joined a guild despite being so strong."

"Only half," I heard Laxus say under his breath in disbelief "how is that possible?

"That was equal to me casting ten Queen's Gambits with Laxus helping, all at once and you're saying that it's barely equal to half your full power." Cana said an incredulous expression on her face.

"Yeah, roughly estimated" I said now sitting to recover from the rapid drain on both sides of my reserves

'And Hx isn't even my strongest form, in theory Model Zx or Ox could be even stronger.' I thought to myself, remembering the other biometal combinations from the games and how much stronger Model Z was than Model H.

Looking at my students I wasn't surprised to find Cana was still in shock at how much power I used and what I just said. Laxus though looked a little strange, like he wasn't really all there at the moment, I couldn't tell what was on his mind.

"Something wrong Laxus?" I decided to ask "You look like something is bothering you."

"It's nothing," said Laxus, his face becoming stoic but not in the strange way it was before. "I was just remembering something my da- something he told me a while back."

'Something Ivan told him? Is he talking about the Dragon Lacrima?' I thought sitting up, wondering what exactly Laxus was thinking about.

"He told me about a way to grow stronger than the top mages in the guild back then, and I almost accepted," Laxus said, shaking his head in disappointment in himself. "I was desperate to become stronger. Even if it meant I might die from the transplant, I wanted to prove I was worthy of the Dreyar name."

"What're you talking about Laxus," Cana said in a simultaneously worried yet incredulous tone "of course you're worthy of your own name! You're the strongest mage in the guild besides Gildarts."

"I'm not worried now Cana," Laxus said trying to calm Cana down "I used to be when I was little, before I started training with Mom. He helped me become strong enough to not need it."

Wait, what?

What does he mean "not need it"? Did I change Laxus' progress that much to the point where he didn't accept the lightning dragon slayer magic?

"I don't need power being given to me, not anymore" Laxus said in a hardened tone of voice, if I didn't know him his expression would be more than a little terrifying. "I can earn my power now and I refuse to just be handed it after realizing how strong I can become without taking any handouts."

I really can't be any prouder of him, he's definitely in a better place than his canon self was. I just trained him as a way to gain access to more training partners but now I'm hoping that I can keep helping him grow even after he surpasses me soon enough.

"Well either way," Cana said while shrugging before looking back at the spot in the sky. "If we can get to the same level as Teach here by training under him, then who needs some sort of artificial boost to your magic?"

"With the level you guys are at and how fast you're growing" I found myself saying now standing after refilling my reserves back to full "I can honestly say you'll be stronger than me before the year's up.

"Seriously?" asked Cana with a bemused expression "After what you just did to show us how strong you really are."

"Yeah, I only really showed you how far I have left to go." I nodded while looking around the training ground, not really focusing on anything in particular. "You guys unlike me don't have any limits to how much you can grow your power, I know for a fact you'll be stronger than me."

I honestly hope that really isn't the case, but there aren't any transformations other than the double forms that are stronger. And since Laxus and Cana are only ten times weaker right now, with the potential to become thousands of times stronger. I can't see any way for me to keep helping them, and that scares me. If only I could-

'Wait, can I combine the guardian fragments with each other instead of X?' I thought to myself curious, with HUD responding.

I can

A/N:

OK so for the questions from Remzil Von Enili and MBS41 just after I published chapter HX, Rep doesn't have Model W. I put the reason why in chapter one but to reiterate he doesn't have it because he was only able to receive the biometals that represent either the four guardians, X and Zero, or Omega. He doesn't have Model A either.

As for why Cana is so much older this time, is due to Rep being there in the first place he's made changes to canon whether he wanted to or not even just by existing this in turn changed a lot of things like making Laxus, Cana, Macao, and Wakaba older and even making it so that Macao ended up being a good father and husband instead of being divorced. And for his aging that is both a yes and a no, he ages in his base form but whenever he's transformed his body turns into that of a 14 year old.

Thanks for the reviews LegionnaireBlaze and Abbabby123 for the reviews, for Legionnaire's suggestion about Rep's name honestly at this point not only has it grown on me a bit but I also don't have any idea about how I can go about making the alteration to make Reppu his actual name. And Abbabby thanks for the support, I just worry about taking too long. Though this chapter took way longer than I wanted I went through it multiple times since I could see that I'm starting to stagnate in quality a bit.

Not to mention by the gods there are a lot more people favoriting and following this than I thought there would be. Seriously, I'll definitely need to work on improving my work if you guys actually like this.

Geez long A/N again, sorry. Thanks for reading and Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays for those who don't celebrate Christmas.
