Hey! You're all probably sick of my excuses, but I've been in and out of the hospital for exams. Then I got better and my dad almost died, so he was in the hospital for a bit. I am truly sorry it has taken so long to write and publish this, but here it is. I'm hoping to get back on the original schedule I set up. REGARDING THE POLL: I'm closing it July 31st, 2019, so you have until the end of July to give me your opinions. Shout-out to Primessparrowforever, , BleachedKurosaki, MissArcticWolf, and zombie-hunt for favoriting and/or following my story. Let's continue!

My legs were pulled under me as I sat in my seat. Hide was silent while we watched my dad talk to my mom's headstone. He glanced at me a couple of times, but I have no idea what he was saying and I didn't ask when he finally came back. Hide started driving to base once my dad was belted in, "Do you want to talk about anything before we get back, Kat?"

Awkward silence rang between us because there was so much I wanted to talk about, but also very little that I wanted to talk about. Finally, I asked him about the Olivers and what he knew about the whole situation. I had been wondering for a while and I needed to ask before we were surrounded by everyone.

He seemed to gather his thoughts for a minute before he actually spoke, "I have so many thoughts about that whole thing. Mainly concerned for you. Have you thought about coming back and being homeschooled? I'm sure Ratchet and the other Bots could teach you and you'd be protected all the time. Bella, the Cullens, and the pack will miss you, but they'd understand."

My eyes shot to him with the realization that he had been filled in on everything in Forks, which included the wolves. Sighing, I had to begrudgingly agree that he had a point, "But I can't just leave them, especially the wolves. They need me, dad. I'm the Lupus Sororis and I have to stay at least until I graduate. Then I'll figure out what to do cause I wanna work with Ratchet after school."

He mimicked my sigh as his hands tightened briefly on the steering wheel, "Sometimes I wish you weren't as stubborn as me."

I gave him an impish smirk, "Who do you think I learned it from?"

A boisterous chuckle escaped both of us and he ruffled my hair as we settled back in our seats with lighter hearts. He disappeared to talk to Epps and Carlisle when we reached base and Sam pulled me away from the others. I doubt it did any good since the Bots and Cullens had godlike hearing, but I think it made him feel better. Ron and Judy weren't anywhere to be seen, so they must be causing chaos somewhere else. I liked them, but they tended to cause some sort of problem when they came (it usually involved Judy trying to make something "safer" for her "baby boy").

Part of me was still upset over his comments about Mikaela and Miles. She was my best friend and he was Sam's, but it sucked knowing your boyfriend still preferred her. I folded my arms and quirked an eyebrow as I stared at him, "Yes, Samuel?"

He flinched, I only ever called him that when I was upset and he knew that, "So, before, you know, on the plane….I wanted- I didn't mean…"

Sam kept stammering until I finally stopped his nervous ramble that he's well-known for, "Spit it out. Is this about your comments on Miles and Mikaela? And how you clearly still want her?"

I watched his hands fiddle with the hem of his shirt and I shifted my weight onto my other foot, "Yeah...I, um, wanted to tell you, well, that I didn't mean...I didn't mean to say it like that. Look, I did want her at one point and it sucks that Miles got her, but I got the better person...girl...I mean young woman."

A smile tried to sneak its way on my face at his ramble because he started going on about how nice I am, how honest, caring, and I finally grinned when he went on about how much he enjoys me being a geek like him. Sam slowly stopped speaking when he noticed me grinning and his voice was hopeful as he questioned, "We good? Like for real?"

Nodding, I laughed when he hugged me, "Thank Primus! So, Bee and the Cullens helped me plan a date for us in a couple days. If you want, I mean! We don't have to if you don't want to. Just thought that you'd enjoy it-"

I cut him off with a chaste peck on the lips. His brown eyes were wide in surprise at my suddeness, "Sounds great, Sam. Fancy? Casual? What day?"

"F-Fancy. I'll...uh….Friday?"

Pecking him again, I smirked and walked away, "It's a date, Sammy boy."

Some of the others, who were obviously listening in, were extremely amused at my poor boyfriend. It's so easy to fluster him sometimes. Especially if he's rambling since he'll already be flustered slightly. Elita and Chromia were both chuckling at Sam by the time I made it over to them, "That poor boy doesn't know what to do."

A snort burst from me, "Eh, consider it payback for his previous comments. So what's the plan now?"

Mia shrugged as a response, so her sister explained more, "Everyone is just hanging out at this moment. Everyone on base is getting together for Christmas dinner, but there are no other plans."

I continued to chat with them for a little bit before wandering off to find the Cullens because they had all disappeared. Searching eventually led me to their room and I was greeted by a frazzled looking Bella, "Hey, what're you all up to?"

She was blushing slightly and I felt a grin grow on my face, "Make-out session with Eddie boy?"

My cousin tried to stammer out a response, but was rescued by her usual savior, "Hello, Kat. The rest of my family is in the rec room. Did you need something?"

His hair was a little more disheveled than normal and I felt my grin widen, "Nope. Just curious what everyone was up to. Be safe, kids."

I then turned and meandered my way back to the rec room, giggling the whole way. Sometimes it was way too easy. The rest of the Cullens were watching some of the Bots and humans play video games. However, I didn't see Carlisle over there. Glancing around, I finally saw him sitting on the Bots' table with Ratchet and they were in a deep discussion.

"Kat!"

My eyes snapped over to see who called me and I grinned at Rosalie. I made my way over and took a seat beside her as Emmett challenged Sides to a racing match on whatever game they were playing. Sunstreaker, Bee, Sam, Mudflap, Skids, and Ironhide were all betting on Sideswipe winning. The Cullens were obviously betting on their own, except for Alice, Apparently they forbade her from betting since she can see the future. That made me snicker because she was pouting from her perch on Jasper's lap.

It was a close competition, but Sides won in the end. His brain is essentially a computer after all. We were all just hanging out unless the intercom went off announcing Christmas dinner. Sam and I grinned before taking off because Christmas dinner is the best time to eat on base. The chefs always do the traditional foods, but they also loved to try new cultural foods every year. This year is England and some type of pudding called Christmas pudding. No idea what it actually is, but I'll try it once.

I claimed my spot beside my dad with Mia and Hide on his other side while Sam sat with his parents and Bee across from me. Ratchet sat on my right with Elita and Optimus beside him as the Cullens and Bella filled in across the table. Poor Bella got stuck next to Judy and I internally cringed. That woman loves to drink on the holidays. Well, she loves to drink more on the holidays.

Dishes were passed around and laughter was ringing through the large dining hall. As I looked around, I couldn't help the warm smile as I saw all the friends and family around me, even strangers. An elbow nudged my side and I glanced up at my dad, confused at the nudge, "What's going on in that pretty head of your's, angel?"

Looking around at everyone, I couldn't keep the smile off my face as I turned back to him, "Just thankful to be here and surrounded by friends and family. Merry Christmas, daddy."

He pulled me close to him and kissed my forehead, "Merry Christmas, Katherine."
