Hello! I have officially taken the poll down. I only had two people respond to the actual poll, but I did get two PMs regarding their answers. I'm not sure what I will end up doing. The two that voted on the poll wanted this to be one large story while the two that sent me PMs would rather have separate books. If I do write separate books, it won't be for a long time as this book is going to be long. I am also so sorry it has taken so long. Literally everything that could go wrong has been going wrong. Right now I am having serious carpal tunnel issues, so I am preparing for surgery in the near future. This will most likely slow down updates because I can't really type. Shout-out to HeLlHoUnD555, MysteryShadow1896, and eclipse20020 for favoriting and following my story! Let's continue!

More Christmas Festivities
The next couple of days passed uneventfully. I spent most of my time with my dad unless he had to be in a meeting or something. Then I would hang out with whoever was in the rec room. Occasionally I was with Ratchet since he was teaching more and more about the Bots. Friday finally came though and I was beyond excited. We hadn't gone on many dates before I moved and it had never been anything fancy. Our dates typically started at the arcade in town and ended at the diner.
Don't get me wrong! I love those dates and I always look forward to staying in watching a movie or gaming. But it is nice to go out on a fancy date once in a while. I wonder if we'll even be able to leave base though. The Bots are insanely protective lately...for good reasons. I doubt we'll be able to leave since the Oliver family will come after me the second they catch a whiff that I'm in town.
Everyone jokes that Bella is the bad luck one in the family, but I'm pretty sure I'm right behind her. Surprised the apocalypse hasn't happened with both of us together yet. At the rate she's going though, I am fairly confident that something will happen with her.
I hadn't seen Sam much today, except for the quick second he told me he'd be at my room at 6. He must've been up to something for tonight, but whatever. I'd rather let him do his thing then sit and bug him. It was around 4 when I started to get ready. Everyone knows it takes girls some time to perfect our look. Alice and Rosalie really wanted to design my look for the evening, but I told them no.
Rosalie was fine with that, but Alice was a completely different story. She pouted, begged, pleaded, guilted. It was kind of pathetic honestly. I like the girl, she's one of my friends, but sinking to that level simply because I wouldn't let her play dress-up was a little ridiculous. Bella probably gives in to keep Alice from doing that.
I hopped into the shower to wash my hair with my lily scented shampoo and conditioner before using my body wash that smelled like lilies too. They were the last things my mom had given me before she died and I planned on using them for as long as possible. I quickly dried off before focusing in on my hair.
For once, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it. Sam has usually seen my hair up or half-up, but it's always pulled away from my face. I think I'll wear it down this time. Digging around the drawers, I triumphantly pulled out the curling iron and plugged it in. It started heating up as I dove into the drawer I had claimed as mine from the beginning to find my make-up that I kept on base. There was more at my house thanks to Mikaela's influence, but I didn't use much on base. I only kept some mascara, eyeshadow, and a couple different lipsticks here.
There isn't a point to keep a ton on base since there wasn't many times I could even wear it. I was usually running around with the Bots or working with Ratch, so I don't need make-up for a typical day. I had Mia grab a particular dress and pair of heels for tonight because, as expected, I don't really keep formal clothes on base. I didn't want to risk smudging my make-up, so I got dressed first and let out a relieved sigh that it covered my scars mostly. The one on my shoulder was exposed, but it wasn't big enough to draw a ton of attention like my stomach and leg.
I had wanted to wear the emerald dress to my Christmas performance for school, but at least I could wear it now. The sleeveless dress reached to my knees in front while the back dipped down to the top of the back of my ankles. There was a green ribbon that was slightly darker than the dress and went under my boobs before tying it in the back. The chiffon skirt over the silk had some silver sparkles in it, so I was going to strap on my silver heels as soon as I could. I put a pair of emerald earrings on before clipping my Autobot necklace around my neck. Smiling at my reflection, I eagerly turned to my make-up.
I mixed grey and black eyeshadow on my upper lids before applying a slight dusting of sparkle to it for a little shine. Carefully applying my black mascara, I did my best to avoid lumps or poking myself in the eye. That hurts like ****. I didn't want to really wear a bold lipstick because I felt that would be a little too much, so I applied clear gloss that would just show my lips off a little more.
Now that the ensemble was complete, I grinned at my reflection. I hadn't gotten this dressed up in a while. It felt amazing to actually dress up and go all out. Typically, I wasn't too bothered by just wearing comfy clothes, but it is refreshing to get all dressed up for once. My necklace didn't really match my outfit. However, I know the Bots and my dad would never let me leave without it, especially with what happened in Forks. A small silver clutch was the last thing I grabbed before I left the room. I didn't encounter anyone until I reached the hangar and everyone looked at me, except for Sam as he was too busy pacing beside Bee and messing with his suit.
I smiled slightly before calling out his name. He whirled around like a top before freezing at the sight of me, "Wow." My cheeks burst into flame and I looked down shyly at his breathless declaration. He called me "beautiful" all the time, but this was such a different reaction than normal.
He gingerly helped me in on the passenger side before rushing to the driver's side, but my dad stopped him before he could get in, "Back before midnight, kids, and don't do anything stupid."
Sam turned different shades of red and white as he stammered out that we'd be back before then and that he wouldn't do anything to harm me. I had to chuckle slightly before leaning across the console to look out the window at my dad, "Don't worry, dad. We'll be fine and be back by midnight. Love you!"
He finally let my boyfriend clamber in and Bee played a laugh track as we drove out of the hangar. Sam glared at the radio as I snickered again because these two were just like brothers. It made for some interesting experiences. I happened to glance behind me and saw that Sideswipe and Sunstreaker pulled out after us. Confused, I voiced my observation to Sam, who was just as confused. Bee spoke up, which he typically avoids when Sam and I are on dates, "They're extra protection tonight. Prime and Will didn't want you two to leave base after what happened with Will and the fact the Cons specifically called out for you, Kat. But he knew he couldn't keep you guys locked in, so him and Ironhide debated for a while about protection. If anything happens, I'm to immediately take you two back to base with Sides and Sunny guarding us while the others head our way. Hide and Mia are also supposed to be patrolling while you two are on your date."
We both sighed, but accepted it because there was no way we could fight this decision. It came from the two bosses on base and one was my dad, so I'm surprised there honestly wasn't going to be more guards. Bee quieted down as Sam and I chatted about what had been going on in Tranquility since I left and what I had been up to in Forks. He had been filled in on the Cullens and the wolves once the Bots knew since Bee accidentally let it slip. It took a while for him to get used to it, but I think it helped when he found out that Carlisle had literally saved my life.
Since he was my best friend before we started dating, he also knew about the Olivers. And of course he had to ask about that touchy subject, "So...uh, heard anything about the uh...you know….shooting thing?"
My scars twinged as screams rang in my head before I forcibly shook myself as if trying to rid the ghosts of my memories, "Not much. The guy that shot up the school did it cause of me. The Olivers somehow heard I was in Forks and hired him to kill me, but to make it look like I wasn't the target. The pack has at least one wolf constantly watching me wherever I go in Forks and the Cullens don't go too far to hunt anymore or at least a couple stay back and switch off when the others get back. They're not taking any chances now that they know the full story of why I'm in Forks. Uncle Charlie is working with every contact he has and so is the FBI. Just a waiting game at this point."
Thankfully, Sam must have noticed I didn't want to discuss it, so he quickly changed the subject, "You look great tonight. Really, you do. I mean, you look great all the time, but tonight you look even better. Not that you're ever bad looking!"
I had to laugh at his panic stammering. Poor Sam tended to get himself worked up quite easily. Always had, even when we were kids. He's been getting better, so maybe he'll outgrow it one day. Before I could say anything in response, we pulled up to the nicest Italian restaurant in our hometown. My mouth dropped open a little that he would take me here and I stared at him, "I know your mom and dad used to take you here every year around Christmas and that your mom would take you when you were really missing your dad, so I asked your dad to let me take you this year. I hope that's okay."
I smiled, despite the slight tears in my eyes, as I embraced him, "It's great, Sam. Thank you for bringing me. I thought my dad wouldn't want to go this year."
Sam grinned that adorable smile that always tilted slightly upwards on the right before holding his arm out to me and we headed indoors. We were quickly seated in a quiet corner and I didn't bother looking at the menu. I knew what I was going to get since I had been coming for years and the owner knew me pretty well by now. Sam's chocolate eyes were darting around the menu as he scoured for something that sounded familiar. A warm smile grew on my face as I watched because I knew he hadn't been before and hadn't realized the names were all in Italian since the owner's family came to America from Italy. Sam's eyes suddenly darted to meet mine and I sheepishly glanced at the table, "If you're done staring at me, think you could help me pick something?"
Amusement laced his tone and I knew he was going to tease me about this for forever, but I ignored my burning cheeks while pointing to a name, "You'll like this. It's cheese-filled pasta with chicken."
He nodded as our waitress walked over, "Hi, Katherine. It's been a while since we've seen you. How are your folks?"
I winced slightly, but smiled, "Hey, Lucia. My dad's good, but my mom passed a little bit ago."
Her olive skin blanched at her accidental hurtful question, "I'm so sorry, Katherine. I hadn't heard about that. Let us know if there's anything we can do for you or your dad. Um, what can I get for your drinks and entrees if you're ready?"
She obviously felt bad and had no idea how to recover, but it was okay. I knew she meant no harm and I tried to convey that with a smile, "We'll both have Cokes please. I'm going to have the lasagne with tomato sauce and he'll have the chicken tortellini."
Taking a hasty retreat, she left as soon as I was done speaking with our menus and I turned back to Sam, "You okay, Kat?"
His eyes were analyzing any minute detail that would hint at me lying, so I was honest, "Yeah, it stings a little, but I've been getting better. Optimus has really been helping me with his sessions."
"How have those been going?"
"Pretty well. It was hard at the beginning cause I didn't want to admit I needed help, but it's going so much better now. He's helped me work through the guilt from my mom's death and now we're working on what happened in Forks. I think I'll always partially blame myself for that, but he's trying to get me to stop feeling that way."
Sam awkwardly nodded as a different waitress set our drinks down with the breadsticks and left as suddenly as she appeared. The rest of dinner was spent on lighter subjects and a lot of laughter as he told me stories of Trent trying to win Mikaela back when he realized she was dating Miles. As we finished dinner, Lucia came back with her dad and each of them carried a plate of tiramisu.
My confusion equaled Sam's as they set the plates down before us and Lucia's dad spoke in his soft, gravelly tone, "I am so sorry for your loss, dear Katherine. Please enjoy these desserts on the house and let us know if there is anything we can ever do for you."
With a gentle smile, I patted his hand, "Thank you, Angelo. We all love coming here and my mom adored you and your family. Please don't worry yourself over us."
He nodded before they left and Sam stared at me, "You know them?"
A small laugh burst out as I nodded, "Yeah, we've been going here for years. My mom and dad came before I was born and Lucia was like five. My parents were pretty close with Angelo and I used to hang with Lucia a few times. We don't have much in common, but she's pretty cool."
He accepted that and eagerly tore into his dessert while I relished every bite of mine. Tiramisu was something I enjoyed when coming here because Angelo made the best. I couldn't eat anyone else's without comparing and none lived up to his. Sam quickly paid and we headed out into the night to find Bee. Sam carefully helped me in and shut the door once I made sure my dress was out of the way before we were flying back towards base.
We were quiet for a bit before I finally decided to speak, "You boys want to have a movie fest when we get back? Relax in pjs with junk food?"
Sam groaned in agreement and I had to bark a laugh at his reaction, "Please. I don't understand how so many guys can wear suits all the time. I feel like a clown."
I gently kissed his cheek, "Ah, you're cute though."
His head instantly turned insanely red and he couldn't form anything back, so I just grinned and sat back in my seat. Once we reached base, Sam walked me to my room and waited till I entered to head to his room with the Cullens and Bella. I greeted my dad and Epps as I grabbed my black fleece pants and purple tank-top, "How was your date, angel?"
I felt like my face would break in half with how huge my grin was, "Great! We went to Angelo's and got to see him and Lucia again. Now we're going to go watch movies in the rec room with whoever else decides to join in."
Since both of them were there, I had to change in the bathroom, which took a bit since I also needed to wipe all the make-up off and throw my hair into a braid. I slipped on some fuzzy socks that completed my outfit since they were black with purple dots. Hide and Mia loved giving me clothes that matched their color scheme and I always wore it with pride. I have the best two guardians after all.
Bee also gave Sam yellow and black clothes as a joke. Sam liked to complain that he didn't need clothes, but I know he truly loved the fact his guardian would do that and Sam always wore his clothes with pride too. Speaking of which, it looks like Sam decided to wear the black sweats and yellow shirt Bee had given him for Christmas. Both of us curled up on Bee's lap with one of the blankets that's always laying around as Bee started up the first Jaws movie. Apparently that's what the two had decided on. I loved the movie too, so I didn't complain. I just snuggled up against Sam as the music started up and we were lost to the movie.
