Forever Mine
Chapter Three
...
..
...
Katie had eventually gotten back to Peter to inform him that she was officially off work and available for a date. They both agreed that dinner sounded like the best choice for their first date. They could wine and dine and could talk about what the other had been up to all these years, specifially Peter. Katie had been curious what Peter was up to all those years. Rumors spread fast that his father had come back for him, but Katie always found it strange that he had just up and left without any explanation. First, Peter didn't know who his father was. Second, surely his father would give him some time to be at the funeral and celebrate his mother's life without leaving? Some kids thought he had been abducted by aliens since there had been news of UFO sightings outside the hospital where his mother passed.
Peter Quill dressed up in a suit and tie he borrowed from his grandfather he was Peter's age. He gave himself one last look in the mirror and drew in a deep breath. Everything else looked good, but he looked at his hair and his beard. They were rather scruffy looking and all over the place. He considered trimming both his hair and his beard, but something was keeping him from doing it. He could hear Gamora's laughter as she played with the ringlets in his hair. He closed his eyes.
...
"I like it!" Gamora exclaimed happily as she lay naked in bed beside Peter. He watched her in awe as she twirled the ringlets of his hair in her delicate fingers. Her eyes were beaming. Peter ran a finger through some of the ringlets.
"I need to cut it." Peter fought. He hated when he let his hair grow too much. It became too curly for his liking. Gamora shot him a look. "It makes me look scruffy!" Peter defended.
"I like scruffy Peter." Gamora leaned in for a kiss and gently placed her lips to Peter's. The kiss was slow, yet sweet and a little seductive if you asked Peter. His cheeks flushed red as Gamora pulled away. She giggled at the sight of Peter Quill blushing like a child.
"Stop it." He chuckled.
"It's cute."
"Oh, is it?" Peter asked as he rolled over on top of Gamora. She giggled more as he began to kiss her entire face. "Let's see how cute you think it is when I make you blush."
"Peter!" Gamora shrieked loudly as he began running his beard against her neck. "This isn't making me blush, this is tickling me!" Gamora wiggled underneath Peter's body as the hairs on his beard tickled her bare skin.
Peter and Gamora stopped what they were doing as a knocking sound came from the other side of their bedroom wall.
"Will you two keep it down in there?" Rocket shouted from the other side. Gamora and Peter erupted in laughter together. It was pure blis.
...
Peter opened his eyes and exited his memory as he heard a knock on the door.
"Come in."
The door creaked as it slowly opened. His grandfather peered from behind the door. "Look at you." He beamed with pride as he looked at his grandson all dressed up. Peter smiled as his grandfather pulled him in for a hug.
"You don't think I look too scruffy?" Peter questioned as he ran his fingers through his hair.
"Well, we can always trim it up tomorrow. As for now, you have to go pick up Katie." He gave Peter the keys to his car and a slight pat on the shoulder. "Have a good time and be safe." Peter cringed as his grandfather winked in his direction. Peter wasn't planning on having sex with Katie. He was a gentleman.
Okay, maybe he wasn't that much of a gentleman. He had one night stands before, but this was a proper first date. This wasn't meeting some chick at a crummy bar. He was actually going to a nice restaurant with fine wine and steak and lobster. He wasn't about to take her out and then screw her. It was too soon and he knew he wasn't ready for anything intimate. He grabbed the car keys and gave his grandfather a small smile.
"Don't worry, Pops. I will be."
Quill followed the directions to Katie's apartment on gps in the car and drew in a deep breath as he pulled up the curb. His heart began to race as he exited the car and watched as Katie exited the complex in a skin tight, small white dress with matching heals.
"Oh boy." Peter gulped.
"Hey Peter!" Katie exclaimed as he opened the passenger door. She gave him a peck on the cheek before climbing in the car. Peter drew in a deep breath as he closed the door and rushed to the driver's seat.
The car ride was quiet and awkward, but once they arrived at the restaurant, there was no moments of silence between the two of them. Katie had explained how after Peter went missing, the rumor mill began to run about what his whereabouts were. She explained how after high school she wanted to be a nurse, but her father got sick and she wasn't able to leave for college and she had been waiting tables ever since.
"I guess I'm waiting for the end before I go be a nurse, but I'm afraid it's too late." Katie explained before taking a sip of her wine.
"Man Katie, that's too bad. I'm sorry." Peter held his hand out for hers on the table and she grabbed it without hesitation. Peter was taken aback by her sudden movements. "I-I know how much you liked helping people."
"It's practically in my blood." Katie said with a small chuckle. "But what about you Peter Quill?" Peter chuckled at the use of his first and last name. "Where have you been all these years? Give me some truth so we can finally put the rumor mill to rest."
"What? The rumor mill is still running?" Peter laughed.
"Oh yes!" Katie joined in. "Be happy you weren't here for the rumor mill during high school. That was scary." Peter drew in a deep breath as his laughs came to a stop.
"Well, what do you want to know?"
"What happened that night?"
"That night," Peter's voice was shaky. "That night I ran out of the hospital. I don't know if I was going to run away from home or beg God to bring her back, but I was outside on the ground and suddenly a light was appearing over me. This great, big ship was hovering above me and next thing I know, I'm being beamed up into it."
Katie wasn't sure if she wanted to believe it or laugh in Peter's face, but she didn't interrupt.
"I spent my life with this group of guys called the Ravagers. Their original deal was to take me to my father, but my father was a pretty messed up guy."
"How so?" Katie found herself literally sitting on the edge of her seat.
"You're so not going to believe me." Peter muttered.
"Try me."
"Okay fine." Peter drew in another deep breath. "My dad was what they call a celestial."
"A celestial?" Katie sat back in the seat of the booth with her arms crossed, not believing a single word that was coming out of Peter's mouth. He always had a wild imagination, it wouldn't be surprising if he still had it even in his adult life. Peter nodded his, already knowing beforehand that she wouldn't believe him.
"Yeah and my mother is the Queen of England." Katie said sarcastically. She got up and threw the napkin that sat on her lap down on the table. "If you weren't interested in me, then you could have just said so. You didn't have to come up with some elaborate, bullshit story to make me not like you."
Katie walked away in a huff as Peter nodded his head. "Yep, saw that one coming."
