Author's Note: Well, I've came up with a name for this fanfic. Hopetale (dumb name, but it was the first thing that came to mind). HOPEfully, you'll enjoy it ;). Oh yeah, and Undertale and most of these characters belong to Toby Fox (not that will matter since virtually no one's gonna watch, but that doesn't stop me).

Long ago, humans and monsters lived in peace. Then one day, that all changed, and a war broke out. Humans were victorious, and as punishment, they sealed the monsters in a magical barrier.

But you already know that. So let's tell another story.

"Eve! Eve! EVE HOPEFELL, WAKE UP!"

"HUH!"

Eve woke up. She heard her brother call her from downstairs. She quickly got dressed and went to get breakfast as she saw her older brother, Aman, adding the finishing touches for her breakfast.

"Eve, you still have school."

"Sorry bro, must've slept in."

"Ugh, just because Mom's gone, doesn't mean you can just ignore all responsibilities!"

"Sorry bro, I'll try to wake up as soon as I "pan" tomorrow."

"EVE! YOU KNOW I HATE YOUR PUNS!"

"Come on bro, isn't annoying each other what siblings do."

"Not when they have a lot on their plate."

Eve chuckled as Ino gave her her breakfast.

"What's so funny."

Eve gestured at the plate of food he gave him.

"No, no, that's not what I meant, that's not… GREAT, NOW YOU'RE TWISTING MY WORDS TO MAKE PUNS!"

Eve fell off the chair, laughing as she did.

"EVE!"

"Welp, got to go, school stuff, you know."

Eve quickly escaped out of the room, out of the house, and went to school. She quickly went into the bus, only to realise that she didn't get her backup.

'It's okay, I'll just get it when I come back."

Little did she know, she won't be coming back to her home.

The day went by as normally as possible. She ended up getting a decent score on her test, helped in trash clean up day, and put up posters of her missing sister, Frisk.

A month ago, Eve had a sister. Her name was Frisk. She was orphaned a long time ago, virtually when she was born, and was adopted by the Hopefell family. But, after their mom and dad died, Frisk… wasn't really the same.

When no one was looking, she left for MT. Ebott, a mountain where six other kids went… and never came back. And the same fate befell her.

That being said, Eve still held on to hope. Hope that her sister is still alive. However, others didn't. Her brother gave up hope, and has… never been the same. Everyone else also finds it stupid that she still holds onto that hope. In fact, we're about to see the conflict that starts it all.

When putting up wanted posters, she heard a voice behind her that called her. It was just a group of kids, but she couldn't shake the feeling she knew them.

"Well, well, you seriously still hold onto that," the guy in front said.

Eve didn't respond. She just continued putting up posters of her missing sister.

"You know, she's not gonna come back right?"

Eve just sighed in a response.

"No one returns from MT. Ebott alive."

Eve tries to ignore it.

"And you know why she decided to do it…"

That's when something snapped in Eve. That line sparked something in her. She then just punched the guy, with some serious knockback. But he didn't fight back.

"I see. You're… still in denial. Hey, if… by some miracle your… sibling… is alive… tell them I'm sorry."

He then left, as Eve looked at her hands. She never lashed out like that. Ever. What happened to her? What happened there?

'Maybe nobody saw that'

She thought that only to notice a flash from a camera far behind and notice a large crowd that witnessed this.

'Oh boy.'

(Later)

Eve got into trouble to the point the principal got involved. The kid from earlier stayed radio-silent, but still, everyone saw her. They knew what she had done. She had to stay behind to talk to the principal.

"So… Look, I know losing Frisk was hard on you, but… you can't go around like that."

"What are you talking about, I'm cool as a cucumber."

"Heh… you can make jokes all you want, but I know deep down… you're sad. And afraid."

"I'm not, really."

"Then why did you fight?"

Eve looked down on the ground. There was something wrong with her. Her memories were in shambles. She felt like she had some animosity towards that kid. Why? Had she met him before? Where?

"Look… I know something is going with you. You lost your mother and your sister in the span of 24 hours. I get it. But you can't let your losses define you forever. At some point, you have to forgive yourself and continue with your life."

Eve looked back.

"I… don't know if I can."

"It's okay. It takes time… but promise me you can move on. Ok… promise me."

(Afterwards)

Eve was walking back home since she missed the bus home. Her house was an hours walk away (can't the city be shorter), so it was getting dark.

"Welp, I can't wait to explain this to Aman."

As she walked down, she was passing Mt. Ebott when suddenly.

"Hey… Eve… Can you hear me?"

"Frisk?"

Eve looked around. But she did see something. A faint, blurry figure in the woods.

"Frisk?"

The figure then ran.

"Hey, wait up."

Eve followed the voice into the forest. She kept climbing up Mt. Ebott, following the figure that looked like Frisk. Eve ran up, and got tired. But she was in an area of a cave.

"Why are you bringing me here?"

But when she opened her eyes, the figure was nowhere to be found.

"Ugh, great. Well, at least I'll be able to go home."

But when she looked back, the trees were too thick, and she was unable to see what path took her home. Suddenly, thunder came, and little droplets of water came down.

"Looks like a rainstorm."

She then looked at the cave.

"Looks like I'll have to camp out there until the storm's over."

Eve ran into the cave. She decided to text Aman, telling him that she's sleeping over at her best friend's, Aliza's, house. The storm didn't past, so Eve decided to go and explore. But she was stopped by a giant hole. The hole was so deep, that all she can see is an ever so small bit of yellow in a circle.

"Yerch, I don't even want to know what's down there."

Then, thunder struck near the entrance. Eve jumped in shock and turned around, backing away until she fell into the hole.

"WOAH!"

"THUD!"

Eve felt something soft. She couldn't see though. She scrambled to find her glasses, but realised that they were lost. Lost in this… weird, soft, yellow patch of a fluffy substance.

All she could see were blurry images of a yellow patch of something soft.

When she looked up… all she could see was darkness. All she could see around her was darkness.

"HELP!"

But nobody came.

Eve started to cry. But then, she saw a red glow. She followed it, not knowing where she was going. When arriving there, she saw something that she would never have expected.

"Who are you?"

"Hi there, I'm Flowey… Flowey the flower."

Eve proceeded to laugh horrendously.

"Huh, what's so funny?"

"Yeah right… Flowers don't talk. Also… real creative name if you're supposed to be a flower. You could've gone with a multitude of names like Dandy-lion, or Sunny, but instead, you chose that. Look, if you're going to make a pun that states what you are, at least make it attempt to look like you're trying."

Eve just continued to laugh and laugh, and she can't contain herself.

"Errgh, take this seriously!"

"Sorry, I'll try to… Flowey."

Eve just fell on her back in laughter.

"AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!"

Suddenly, rocks started to hit her.

"Hey dude, sorry I mocked it, but did you seriously need to hit me."

But then she saw a red glow, same as before. But this time, it was coming from her. She looked down, as she realised a heart. A heart glowing red. And with that, she started to see more clearly who was throwing rocks at her.

An actual, talking, flower.

"You… You're… You're really a…"

"Yes, I'm a flower. Now since you interrupted me, I'll just skip to the end."

Suddenly, a bunch of white petals appeared, surrounding all around her.

"What… What are you?"

"I'm Flowey, and in this world, IT'S KILL OR BE KILLED!"

Flowey chuckled, all she can do is close her eyes, letting the chuckling echo the dark, blurry room. But then it stopped. She opened her eyes and saw… nothing. The flower was gone.

"Hello, Is someone there,"

She heard a voice, and as it did, a figure stepped out of a doorway. Eve backed away, slowly, worried it would attack her.

"Oh dear, look at this poor child. You seem scared. It's okay, I won't bite. My name is Toriel, and I'm the keeper of these ruins. What's your name?"

Eve was hesitant. But sighed, seeing as though she wasn't violent.

"My name is Eve."

"Well, Eve, you certainly fell a long way down. Come with me. I'll keep you safe."

Eve didn't know why, but she felt… a sense of comfort. She took the monsters… I mean Toriel's… Hand, and went into an archway, but not before the same flower from before went up.

"Chara… you better know what you're doing."

Author's Note: Well, this is a pretty satisfying first chapter. Everything you need to know about Eve (for now) is portrayed here. She's jokey, and likes to annoy others for the sake of it, but still is kind, and isn't afraid to get into a fight if needed. Maybe this is to broad, but eh, I hope you enjoy.
