Guy, ever predictable was training with Lee. Kakashi was tough and his training wasn't a walk in the park either, but he honestly didn't understand how they did it. It was just raw physical workouts that in reality should have them being huge buff men. What diet were they on?

"Hey Kakashi!"

He looked to the bench to see Sakura smiling at him waving cheerfully

"Hello, Sakura" He nodded and walked over to her

"How was the mission?"

"Technically we succeeded..." he moved his head from side to side "not the outcome we hoped for"

"That a shame. What are you doing here?"

"Stopping an unnecessary explanation to Guy" he shrugged and sat next to her

"He really cares about you" she smiled and Kakashi internally groaned. Great, now the kids were starting "You two are really close huh?"

"Don't" he deadpanned and she giggled

"Oh come on Kakashi!"

"We have had it from all our superiors and classmates, we don't need it from you lot too"

"Well maybe we see something you refuse to" she shrugged and Kakashi shook his head.

He knew for certain there was no feelings in that way for Guy. And he knew Guy would never love again. They were both straight and it was beyond him why people thought otherwise.

"What do you see?" Kakashi asked her leaning against the back of the bench.

"Well you're hard to read, but you love him I can see that much from you. Maybe as much as you love Naruto" she smiled

"So as family?" He questioned and her face fell as if that hadn't crossed her mind

"You see Naruto as family?"

"What did you think it was?"

"I thought it was like... I don't know like you felt responsible for him but" she frowned "I suppose like a kid you watched grow and felt he needed you...but hearing you say it was unexpected" she laughed nervously "but Guy! Guy is easy and he loves you there's no question there" she continued "he doesn't look at you the way he looks at Lee"

"He wouldn't" Kakashi nodded. Guy loved that boy like nothing else in the world and nobody else understood why. Not even Lee himself.

"Or his other friends. You're more important to him than them. The only thing that makes sense is-"

"We're in love?" Kakashi asked doubtfully and she looked to her knees and blushed

"Okay when you say it like that" she mumbled shaking her head and looked a little embarrassed

"Don't worry, you're not first and you won't be the last. Just because it's odd doesn't mean it's more than just friendship"

"Guess your just your generation of Shikamaru and Naruto" she shrugged. Kakashi had to refrain from wincing because that's not a helpful example "polar opposites make the best friends apparently" she chuckled.

"Sakura!" Lee called and landed in front of her "training is done. Thank you for waiting my dear!" His hand outstretched and Kakashi was so pleased by his clear adoration for her he didn't even take offence he didn't get so much as a hello

"I wanted to see you before you go" she smiled accepting his hand to help her up.

"Have a nice time!" Guy yelled from behind Lee

They both said goodbye and Guy sat down next to Kakashi

"Your back sooner than I expected"

"Well , mission went a little awry. But we achieved our objective"

"I know you feel guilty but don't let that cloud your judgement"

"I won't. You know it won't so stop worrying about it. Sasuke is a rogue. And he chose it there's nothing I can do for him anymore, he lost Naruto and Sakura's faith and it was all he had to protect him. He's the second Uchiha to betray the village and I've taken it personal when they come for Naruto and Sakura" he groaned. He was angry about the whole situation, trying to bury it but honestly he had no idea why they had to turn so violently. And why Naruto was the one they came for. He was glad Mikoto and Fugaku weren't around to see it, it'd break their hearts, especially Mikoto.

"That sounds a lot like ANBU you there" Guy said placing his hand on Kakashi's shoulder

"I am an ANBU" he looked to Guy "just because I don't do it anymore doesn't erase that I am. And when people I care for need it I'll be as ruthless as I have to be, regardless of my feelings about it. I know you know what that feels like"

Guy looked back to the direction Lee went off in and nodded

"The Green Beast of the leaf has a scary meaning to it when I think about losing him" he agreed and Kakashi smiled. He never pretended to believe he knew what the love like that felt like. Naruto wasn't his son after all but... he figured it was the closest he would get

"Will you ever tell him?"

"I want to... but he never talks about it. And when it's brought up he genuinely doesn't seems phased that he didn't know avout his parents" Guy said his voice missing its usual joyous volume. "And then what do I say? I left him alone for years"

"You didn't know" Kakashi reassured him "there was no way you could have known he survived it took years for children to be reunited with their parents or families, especially the babies. You know he likely wasn't the only one"

Guy nodded and sighed he had only found out two days before the attack that he had a son and held him once. Lee's Mother away onrecon mission and had had him on the way home. She had sent word she was returning early because she wanted the baby with Guy there. They were only young... then the attack had happened and he never found them, he searched for six months. But Lee had not grown into any features... it was pure coincidence he met him and knew the truth immediately.

"He idolizes you Guy. You don't think he wouldn't be thrilled to know?"

"I'm more concerned he will feel betrayed" he admitted.

They sat in silence for a while and Kakashi felt bad he had brought the conversation to the one thing Guy was unable to get passed. Even now Guy still couldnt explain why he didn't tell him soon after they met.

"Well, I think he'd be good about it. But kids want to know their parents. And you're the only one who has those answers for him"

"Like you do for Naruto?" He asked

"He knows, he understands why he can't know and he is being patient" Kakashi sighed "given how he took the news about his new jutsu, I actually think he could handle it and not get into his overexcited yelling and showing off about it"

"So you'll tell him?" Guy asked surprised

"Yeah... soon I think"

He deserved to know, and he'd grown up a lot, the fact he was able to keep his own feelings to himself because he understood the danger it possessed for Shikamaru, gave Kakashi hope he would do the same for himself. Whether Minato was his father or not. He nodded absently in agreement to his own thoughts, yeah, I think it's time to tell him.

"When do you need to leave for your mission?" Kakashi asked assuming it was a mission Sakura was talking about

"Tonight"

"Want a challenge?" He asked hoping to make up for talking about Lee. Guy rose to his feet fist in the air and Kakashi took in a breath trying to pull in the energy this is going to require glad for his mask to hide his smirk.

I am actually a sucker for the idea Guy is Lee's Dad. So I'm adding it in :)
