Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Noble Guardians. Enjoy the 7300-word chapter. I don't own Halo, Microsoft, 343, and a few others do.
Carter sat in a chair across from Colonel Holland. It was so odd, so… Human to see them in such a manner yet it was far beyond what Holland cared about for now.
"You are 100% sure?" Holland asked as Carter nodded before he sighed. "Damn it all to hell. That matches with the bodies my teams pulled out, seems the rest of the Covenant had better things to do than engage UNSC troopers." Holland said as Carter hummed.
"Sir? We encountered Zealots within the compound. They insisted we bring its body close but per UNSC regulations? It was left somewhere it cannot lead the enemy here." Carter added to which there was silence.
Holland was silent, not simply because of what was told to him but because of what it meant and could mean.
There were Covenant soldiers on Reach. The worst thing in the galaxy had occurred and it had been brought to the heart of the UNSC. Granted, it wasn't in large numbers… YET, but it was far clear they would come, more ALWAYS came and it was harder and harder to think about it.
They had a lot more upon the line to lose, something they could lose and would keep losing if nothing else. They had to strike hard, fast, and more and more terrible than the enemy, or else they'd die a pointless and needless death.
"Maybe we can keep them on the backfoot if we keep hitting them better, we don't even know what's coming but we do know what they're going to do and we know they're going to hit us all soon." He said before he looked downwards at the ground before now.
He seemed to be able to relax once more as of now, whatever he did next? Something that Carter didn't know; he left the tactical thinking to the Colonel who commanded them.
They had more and more to do on the money for the time being as he cracked his fingers.
"If the Covenant is here? I have a hunch they are going to hit Sword Base next. Radar said they're busy dealing with something on long-range scanners and considering Noble is the best weapon I have once more?" Holland said before Carter nodded.
"We're soldiers sir, we kill Covenant all the time… Do you need us to secure Sword Base? How many soldiers are we expecting? Sword isn't something they can take from air, too many AA guns and a MAC cannon." Cart said before he looked downwards and into the Colonel's eyes.
"A corvette… And yes, I'm coordinating with the men upstairs to deal with it. Dot will fill you in on the way if you will excuse me. We're going to be busy for the next few weeks and the last thing I need is more on my mind." Holland said before Carter nodded, grabbing his helmet before he slowly started to think more and more.
He watched Carter leave, unsure and uncertain of what to do next.
Something that bugged him was unsure of what to say and even do, whatever they did next to fight off the Covenant would only escalate such measures.
There was so much upon the mind to try and figure out for now. The UNSC had to keep fighting and running more and more as of now.
They had a lot more to try and figure out about it for now. He seemed to be able to try and think as he looked upward at the time being.
She didn't know what to relax upon as she seemed to be able to look down at the floor, unsure of what to do next. There was a lot more upon which they needed to complete, something that could and would continue.
What he did know was simple. They had to fight and he was sending Noble Team out to fight, to go to war once more.
(Outside Holland's office)
Noble Team easily stood out amongst dozens of soldiers, Army Troopers who were able to relax, unsure, and too easily startled by the group were like tanks standing among mountains.
"I know that face, we got something you don't want to talk about, didn't you?" Kat heard as they looked down at the ground.
"You know some of us don't understand what the face is, right?" Carter heard from Gadge as he looked down at the ground.
"We're being sent to Sword, everyone to the hanger," Carter ordered to which he could only sigh.
"Sword? The Covenant is heading to Sword? Damn it, they shouldn't have gotten anywhere anytime soon." He heard before he looked down at the ground.
"They're the covenant, Jorge. They can't exactly really be stood… Not without us losing half the damn planet." Carter muttered as the Spartans walked down the stairs.
"Killing them is easy, we've killed plenty," Gadge said to which Emile chuckled.
"You got spunk, kid. I like you. You are going to make a fine part of Noble." Emile said as Kat rolled her eyes.
"Kill as many Covenant as you want, boys. We still need to deal with their ships. It doesn't mean a damn thing when they can just glass the entire planet." Kat said as the two IIIs looked at her.
"Ain't happening, not to Reach," Jorge said to which there were nods as the group marched to a Pelican.
"We're going to split up, Jun? You, Jorge, and Rose are on AA, anything that's not the warship either turn it back or turn it to ash." Carter said as he looked down at the ground.
"Gadge? Blow up as many armored vehicles as possible, it will be the biggest threat…. Emile, you, Six, and Kat are boots on the ground, clear out anything." Carter said before he looked down at the ground.
He seemed to be relaxed once more as he settled into the business of the matter. Things in this way were easily dealt with but more than again? It wasn't easy to just figure out what little they could and would take for granted today.
It was a measure of mercy once more, unsure of what to do. If the Covenant had time to plan? So too did they as of now and it would be better if they kept moving.
"Are we getting any backup or are they expecting us to lock the front door and clean the floors on our way out?" Kat joked as the others chuckled.
"We have army and ONI personnel on the ground supporting us. I don't know anything about orbital support." Carter said before the others glanced at him.
"Going to need a MAC round to take out a warship from the Covenant. Damn thing's shields will stop anything else unless you want to drop a nuke on it and hope for the best." Hunter said as they shared looks.
"He's right, even a corvette isn't going to be small pickings. There's going to need to be heavy firepower to try and take it down. Don't know if it's going to be easy to take out even if it's without any escorts." Jorge said.
"I'll ask Colonel Holland… However? We hit there, we cut through them, and we get the base online. AA guns can handle anything they have and the corvette doesn't have anything that can glass us with. The best it can do is bomb everything and that's easy to try and figure out about when it comes down to it." Carter said as the others nodded and figured out his plan.
If they were going to fight? Well, it was something else that could and would allow them to relax and fight properly.
They knew, and each of them was well aware of what to do next as the two Falcons flew through the air. It would be a very long and annoying time before they reached where they could and would be able to focus on their craft.
If for no other reason than they wished to fight? They'd be over the position to deal with it and fight properly. This pointed to something beyond their control again and again.
"When we get there? We fight, with no distractions, and no heroics. Anyone who can't fall in line is dead and if you die? Well, no parade." Carter joked before Emile chuckled and racked his shotgun.
"Don't think we need a parade, sir. Just something to shoot." Emile said as he looked down at the ground.
"Speak for yourself. I'd kind of want a parade, would be nice having someone celebrating us kicking ass for the rest of the planet, isn't it?" Rose asked as the others hummed.
"Maybe. Doesn't mean we get one if we die, some of us die without people even caring, sometimes I even wonder if we get anything." Hunter said before he rubbed at his temples, unsure of what to say.
He knew more and more that if they were going to have a chance at this? They'd hit hard and fast at the same time, nothing else would work if they didn't hit them without mercy and they were aware of it and dreaded it over and over again with amusement.
The others for their point were more amused as the flight continued, they chattered like monkeys and she knew more and more and more that if she could relax for now.
Now more and more did he manage to relax once, he had a lot more to fight for again and again.
There was just more and more they were able to relax upon, for now, something that didn't bug him… What he could and would fear was just how much it was going to bug him to know that he was worn down as a soldier.
They weren't going to be able to relax and they weren't going to be able to protect the planet. They could kill the rest of the Covenant soldiers on the planet and they'd send more and more soldiers to kill everyone.
Carter looked at them, Gadge was busy loading a grenade into his grenade launcher, Kat was busy checking the card she had gotten, Jorge was busy loading his gun, Emile was sharpening his knife… They were doing what they always did, fighting, to continue going in combat again and again.
Carter was not stupid, he knew more and more that fighting the covenant wasn't enough, not when they had to continue the war for more and more time than needed.
It wasn't going to end sometime soon and only a fool would see it that way as of now, only a fool would guess they would back down anytime soon.
There was a lot more to it than this as Gadge decided to speak up. He cracked his knuckles and then seemed to speak a few seconds later.
"Something tells me this ain't the hornet's nest when it came down to it," Gadge said as he leaned forward. "If this is their base? They wouldn't risk it attacking Sword, too big a target to cut their teeth on.
If the thing wasn't a covenant ship? The M71s would take it out of the sky in seconds. Those things would cut the armor off a frigate in seconds and put holes in the bridge." Gadge said before Jorge hummed.
"He's right. A corvette can't have more than a hundred soldiers and this is way more… There's got to be more than one ship, which means they're up to something big. Damn it all." Jorge stated as he sighed, unsure and uncertain for now.
This hurt but it wasn't something she couldn't deal with, not when it meant dealing with the enemy directly… Nope, they just couldn't back down and let someone else destroy everything, not while they still lived, not if it meant winning everything they could stand to gain now.
They would fight to protect Reach when it could be gained again.
Each Spartan was going forward in their way, prepared to die in the service of the planet. If they didn't? A lot more humans would be buried along with Reach.
They had plenty to discuss, plenty to do, to see… It was his role as their leader, their commander, as the head of the team to focus on each move made, putting each soldier in the best place to do for now when push came to shove.
"Dot? What's the ground situation? What did the enemy deploy and how many allied troops are on the ground?" Carter questioned before she looked downwards when it came down to it, they had a lot more to try and do, for now, a far larger battle was to be won.
Each speck of it spoke to the idea that none of them knew what was going on, none of them had a damn clue. Gadge and the others looked at Carter, perhaps pondering what to try and do next with their importance.
"At least 3 platoons, perhaps more. Covenant air power seems focused upon defending the warship." Carter heard as there were chuckles.
"They think we're going to get aboard and mess up their fancy spaceship," Emile said before Gadge hummed.
"Just give me a reason and it'd be resting in the middle of the bay," Gadge said, resting his hand on his grenade launcher with a hum that told him just how famished by it all he was.
Yes, something about it struck him as odd over and over again was the simple idea they had been suffering when it came down to it again and again when it was all over, again and again. He didn't understand for now what needed to be said and done.
Every single little thing he had yet to do before he looked downwards. He was able to try and figure everything out, again and again as he looked downwards before now. What he could do? He would do… Again, and again.
What else had he planned to do next, what else could he look downwards at the ground upon? How would the Covenant strike at them? How well would they brace against it?
"Holy crap…" Rose muttered as the two falcons slowly rounded the corner.
There was a corvette above the base, a massive one, dwarfing the area. Both falcons and banshees, all of which were dwarfed by the craft, buzzed around them with them all sorts of gunfire.
"Think they're overcompensating for something?" Gadge questioned before he readied his weapon. "Meet you when we're done, sir," Gadge said as he prepared to drop.
Kat racked the slide on her magnum and led the other 2 Spartans down and onto the ground. He snorted only to look at them as they flew down, rolling as they did so.
Gadge and Six opened fire with their DMRs, the barrage of bullets nailing a pair of grunts in the back of the head. Both soldiers easily moved up, confronted by a lance of jackals as the covenant soldiers finally noticed.
They had so much to deal with, so much more as the UNSC troops were finally allowed to fight back, reminding them both that something had to be done about dealing with it all.
He had too damn much to try and figure it all out for now, something else he could have dealt with for the time being…
They had to fight or else someone suffered, for now, it was far more than he could and would need to deal with.
If they were to fight? They'd fight the best they could now and for good, again and again, would it end sometime soon, all of it ended for now… They were unable to relax once more and more and more with each passing second of each passing day.
He only served to fall just silent enough, to cut everything apart again and again while he looked downwards at the ground for now as of now.
They had been careful enough to avoid the rest of the covenant firepower directed at them once more. The rest of the Spartans were able to try and figure out a plan as Kat looked at them.
"We're going through them? We're going to be fighting once more? Good. I thought today would be a lot more boring, uneventful." Gadge said before he was cut off by several bolts of plasma aimed at his head.
He had been unsure and unable to focus down while he was able to understand for now. They had a lot more to try and cut through before he looked down and watched as Six stormed up the ramp, prepared for now.
He leaped over the railing and put a pair of shots into the elite next to him, their armor shaking as she looked up at them. They retreated, and the other Elite opened fire, plasma raking over his shields once more.
He had to keep fighting these pains in the ass as he drew his knife only for Six to slam into one of the elites. He managed to slam into the other elite, slamming his knife into the chest only for another bolt of plasma which burned into his memory all over.
He fell backward, his shields burning downwards as the Spartan's shields sparked once more. He sighed as the rest of the UNSC army soldiers started to open fire, advancing on the rest of the Covenant soldiers.
He was prepared for now as he cracked his fingers. He slowly started to advance upwards, his shields slowly starting to recharge. Gadge looked at Six before he cracked his fingers, watching as the grunts fell to tracer rounds.
The next of the Covenant lines started to push back up the ramp and into the courtyard. He didn't know what their soldiers were doing, he knew they were a problem and he would address it as best.
The Covenant threat wasn't going to matter at the time. They weren't the biggest fish, the covenant ship in the sky was and he didn't at all question what to try and do about that sort of thing for the moment.
All of it sorted to be awkward when it came down to it as he was understanding when all was said and done, unsure and uncertain for now as to what the hell was going on.
He stood up and started to march down the hill, unsure and unable to fathom a single thing besides not being able to do much.
(With Carter and the others)
Carter, like any good soldier, kept his eye on the main goal. The corvette hovered over the base, almost daring the soldiers below into moving.
He knew from UNSC data reports it wasn't hard to take out a corvette since they had very little shields and a single MAC round would punch a hole in their plating.
The ship would be floating scrap in the ocean if a single gun was trained on it. The only problem was the site was considered too vital to fight with heavy weapons.
That left it to them to drive off the ground invasion and ensure that all such enemies were dead and dropped. They had a lot more to try and figure out when it came down to it, a lot more ideas were coming to play.
"Everyone clear the upper levels, there's going to be banshees here. Air support ain't coming to help." Carter ordered as he leaped onto the level.
One of the Banshees opened fire, a bolt of plasma striking the Falcon and sending it spiraling out of control, engines blazing.
He watched the Falcon crash into the side of the building before exploding, only compounding what he said about how air support wasn't going to do them a single favor here.
This bothered him, not even for a second would it help them considering what the hell was coming down the damn wire.
The roars of covenant soldiers reminded him simply how much had been laid to waste already more and more and more for now, something he didn't even get to understand based on it all.
He'd continue fighting all the same. They had so much more to see and do and yet it bugged him again and again how often the tables turned and how easily this would continue to pass again and again for now.
He didn't even know for now what was coming and he didn't enjoy the idea the enemy was right on their damn doorstep again and again and again in this manner.
This was too much for now and would continue to grow now. it wasn't going to manage for now and he knew it more and more.
"Courtyard is secure… Let's move it, boys, everyone to the front gate." Kat stated before there was the sound of metal moving.
"Command, target locator here, do we have any artillery in the area?" Kat asked followed by a confirmation.
"Seems the rest of them are doing well." Carter heard before he took cover. "Commander? Covenant dropship descending, dropping off troops to flank us." Jun stated before he looked downwards at the ground.
Carter was peppered with plasma fire but managed to down a jackal and its two grunt reinforcements. He had no idea why the covenant would land soldiers here if they could just demolish the base with plasma fire.
Jun turned and blew the head off an approaching elite, sending its body tumbling down the stairs for now.
(With Kat)
Kat dodged a plasma mortar that could easily blow their bodies into dust. The cause: A wraith, simply continued to bombard them as the lance of covenant soldiers providing backup simply gave them more hell to fight against for now.
"Six?" Kat asked as Gadge hummed and pressed a grenade into the launcher.
"Six? I'll lock down the wraith, you drop the big guns on them," Gadge said, hoisting his gun and raising it towards the tank. "Ma'am? Maybe we should take a squad each and hit the AA guns and comm center at the same time, take them both at once, and stretch their line." Gadge suggested as Kat hummed.
She knew why he suggested it once the Wraith was down. it was far better to launch a two-pronged attack, strike both targets and cover more ground, the more soldiers they dropped at the same time? The more they'd be able to win this battle once more.
"Take out the tank first, then we focus," Kat said as the three broke cover and slowly started to open it for now.
They had to continue to go forwards, something that bothered them to no end and would continue to do so until the end of the line for now.
If anything? Here they were and here they would stand until the end of the day. He was all too unsure he figured out for now when it came down to it.
All of it seemed to be able to crack his fingers, ready for more and more when it ended for now. This wasn't ending anytime soon, he hummed, ready to keep coming and fighting.
Kat watched as the explosive detonated under the tank, the emp within it causing it to crash to the floor for only a few seconds as a series of seven archer missiles all impacted, blowing away the covenant soldiers and turning the tank into a pile of scrap.
Kat turned and shot another of the survivors as a Pelican slowly yet surely descended, carrying a warthog slung under its belly like a bloated frog. The Spartans all pondered what to see and do next as he hummed to try and figure it out for now.
It was odder and odder still, something that he could not at all figuring it out, there was a lot more to try and understand for now.
He would not change; he would not allow it… But he wanted to try and understand it all the time. Gadge turned in time to see the pelican dip low enough for him and Six to enter.
Kat rolled her eyes as she looked at warthog and its passenger and knew very well that whatever came next? She and they all dealt with it the same.
"All right, two of you with me, the rest? Everyone take defensive positions inside the courtyard; the Covenant won't be happy we kicked them off the front of the base. Let's keep it that way." Kat stated before she looked down at the ground, ready to scream or something similar to that.
It was obvious the Covenant wouldn't stop at Sword, though… If they were willing to laugh a full-grade attack on their base? It didn't benefit either side for long.
No, they'd be ending it today, today, or not at all for now… Today or nothing at all. If they didn't push the Covenant from the world by the next week? They'd be watching the planet die.
Hell, if Reach was their target? Nothing they did would help, not even a little for now.
He had a lot more to see and do next. They had a lot more soldiers to fight through as he hummed to himself before now.
Everything else on their mind bothered them as now… Every single little piece that she had to know about their enemy was bothering her for now, once more for the time being.
"Carter? We're launching attacks on the rest of the sights down here, how are things here?" Kat asked, sitting behind the wheel of the warthog with two troopers.
"Busy, the entire base is fighting tooth and nail and we've got patrols pinned down inside… The sooner you get the power online for the moment, get the communications and AA guns online." Carter stated before he looked downwards at the ground. "Colonel Holland said he'd take care of that ship when we were done with this," Carter stated before he looked downwards at the ground.
Everything spiraled out of concern for now, whatever else was going to happen.
The pelican took off, traveling the short difference in less than a minute. It was clear as of the moment, they had a lot more to work with as the two Spartans and the Army Troopers all deployed, weapons spraying fire.
The two were met by a plasma mortar which forced them to scatter like a pack of roaches. They noticed the problem instantly, eyes locking on a Covenant Revenant, its mortar locking on them before now.
The two Spartans slowly marched towards their objective, ready to get to work for now before relaxing. They were unsure, unsure of every little measure of control as they looked upon the objective.
"Damn it… Six, bring down the rain on that piece of junk!" Gadge ordered, raising his grenade launcher before an explosion sent him flying away, sent skidding along the grunt before now.
A damn mini tank. He hated it and wanted to smash it into scrap under his fists as he grabbed for his rifle, turning to deal with a group of Covenant soldiers who had tried to flank them.
He was annoyed, ready to fight through them all as he almost wanted to ask the Pelican to strafe the small vehicle, ready to fight and die if it helped sort of things.
"There's a lot more to deal with and yet I'm ready to snap," Gadge said before he honestly sighed to himself and looked downwards at the ground, ready to keep fighting for now.
They had a lot more to contemplate, for now, a measure of mercy that could continue to relax once more.
They continued forwards, watching as the grenade launcher he held was snapped up, he fired just as the vehicle turned towards him.
Gadge fired the grenade as the vehicle fired, it rolled under and exploded, bathing the vehicle in the familiar blue light.
It also made him go rolling along as the mortar exploded behind him, draining his shields and making him sigh to himself.
He sighed as he watched Six rush past him, ready to deal with the vehicle as he hummed to himself before smirking to himself.
He rolled and grabbed his DMR, turning to greet a group of jackals trying to flank him. He hoped it was a lot more peaceful and easier going at the OTHER site.
(With Kat)
Kat shot the next Jackal before using its corpse to block a series of shots from the elite in charge of the outpost. It was clear both of them were to continue fighting for now. They had a lot more to see and do today and all of it was just bothering them.
"Boys, are you busy with the communications yet?" Kat asked as she rolled behind cover, watching as the other warthog finished off the last of the covenant soldiers with well-placed gunfire.
"Busy cutting through the remains of them. Why? There's a lot of them still in the way and it isn't going as well… They… Never mind, Six just took care of the armor here. We're be done by the time you get here… Where's Carter? That corvette isn't slowing down and we have no way of stopping it… We need bigger guns." Carter heard as he sighed.
That part he understood, all too well did he understand what was going on, and yet he didn't at all move for now, seeing it coming far beyond what was possible for now and yet all too decided.
If they didn't take out the corvette? It didn't matter how well the ground battle went. The ship could shell them all to hell and back, it wouldn't stop even if they just killed every soldier on the ground.
They had to push back, strike it down and then they would win, without air support? The covenant was done here and they knew it all too well, it was clear they were fighting tooth and nail just to hold the area around the guns.
"Ok, they're dead… Six and I are turning on the radios, damn thing had a Revenant guarding it, didn't think it was something that was a problem… Ma'am." Gadge said before there was a burst of energy.
"Comms to command is on, both me and Six are headed to reinforce Carter for now if that's ok… Noble Three? Mind telling me how many of these guys you've killed so far?" Gadge questioned as the radios booted fully up.
"Far more than you think, Noble." He heard as he hummed.
"Cryptic… We're going to try not to step over any bodies on the way up… Anyone ask Colonel Holland how long until we can shoot the big ship out of our front yard?" Gadge heard before the sounds of gunfire reminded them, they were still inside a warzone.
"Kat? Tell me you're ok dealing with the guns." Kat heard as she looked at the Ultra in charge.
"Just got to deal with an Ultra and I'll be able to get back there… Could use some help." Kat said as Gadge and six hummed.
"Six is coming back… I'll circle, lead the rest of the troops inside and put up a beach head there… Then we can keep going and lock it down." Gadge said before he hummed.
"Noble 9? We saw a pair of hunters downstairs, be careful… Might want to lead them outside, let air support take them." Carter said as Jun chuckled.
"Or I could handle them… Not as bad as you think it is, sir." Jun said before there was more chatter.
"Noble Eight and Noble Nine? Vanguard positions… Seven? You come and take care of their forces in the lobby… Then wait for Kat and Six… We're pushing through them together." Carter ordered as he hummed.
"9 Spartans versus an entire ground invasion? I almost feel sorry for them." Rose said as Gadge hummed.
"I'll do what I can, sir," Gadge said before he was cut off by static.
(With Carter)
Carter was thrown down the staircase by the Elite General commanding the attack, the elite roared and charged with his sword at the ready while Carter rolled, grabbing his DMR and vaulting the railing.
The fall would have killed any regular man, for him? it broke his shields which cushioned his fall and made his legs ache slightly. He turned to see more Covenant reinforcements, probably whatever was left of the Corvette's ground forces.
"Noble One? I've spoken to orbital command. They said they are standing by to take down that corvette… Just deal with the ground forces, Sword is preparing Longswords for deployment." Carter heard as Jorge cut in.
"Bombers against a Covenant warship? Their either insane or the best soldiers ever." Carter heard as the Elite slowly followed after him, causing Carter to backpedal to the side.
They had a lot more to see and do before they beat back the carrier above and it was clear more and more of which they had been given to be dealt with.
All such measuring tranquil things were not easily dealt with anyway. They had a lot more to try and figure out for the time being, a measure of mercy that seemed to be bothersome as she hummed while he cracked his fingers against the roof.
Carter seemed to be annoyed and utterly unsure, unable to relax once more as he rolled, dodging the sword once more. The blade cut through the floor under them before the Elite rounded on them.
He felt himself relaxing once more as he hummed while he clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth as he sighed, tired for now.
"Commander? Heavy resistance below, where are you?" Carter heard before he looked downwards.
(With Gadge)
Gadge rolled back to cover as an elite ultra rounded on him, its concussion rifle ready to fire as he retreated toward the warthog. He hummed as his shields broke, forcing him to roll to the side.
Gadge hummed as the M41 Vulcan started to rev up before the soldier opened fire, tracer rounds diced through the alien which instead surged at him, probably trying to take him down with him.
He'd applaud the soldier if they weren't a genocidal monster, he lashed forwards before stabbing them, throwing them to the ground before crushing their head under heel.
"Noble? Busy with an elite, how copy?" Carter questioned before more plasma fire forced him to the side.
"Busy, sir. They've got a lot of manpower in the way." Gadge stated, turning and firing as a trio of Army Troopers emerged to support them.
"Punch through it, Noble. We need that Corvette down…" Carter said as Holland hummed.
"We're handling the ship, Noble 1. Just clear the skies and let us handle the rest… Then get back here, we're going over a debrief of what's going on." Holland ordered as Gadge hummed.
"Seems we're going to be busy this week, sir," Gadge said as he and the trio of Army Troopers all opened fire, advancing inwards towards the group of Covenant soldiers all protecting the entrance for now.
They had a lot more to see and do, so much so that it seemed to hurt again and again. What waited for them after this?
It sure wasn't going to be anything good, not when it could be coming to the damn covenant in their backyard for now. They had a lot more to try and understand for the time being when it came to it.
All it seemed to do was bother something beyond measure, beyond all manner of speaking, a manner of at the moment they seemed to try and figure out.
He had a lot more to try and figure out, something that bothered them all for now. It wasn't going to be easy to beat them all for now, a measure of madness that could only continue to grow for now.
A desire to be superior to it all, for now, a lot more monstrous in nature. All it did was drive them to a part of life they could not wait to see in the mirror.
Whatever was dealt with next? It would not matter much for now… Not when it came down to it.
He had a lot more to try and figure out as of now, there was a lot more to try and deal with, something that didn't belong.
Yes, this seemed more and more and more unlikely that they'd be surviving for now… A measure of mercy that was going to bother them more and more.
Gadge turned and saw something move near the elevator. A guttural roar came as a pair of crates exploded, tossing them toward where they had been. He knew that growl and he sighed.
"HUNTERS!" one of the troopers said as Gadge sighed and prepared for more combat, ready to keep fighting onwards, he knew this was going to be a VERY long day.
"Noble 1? We're going to be a bit… Unless you want to send a tank down the elevator." Gadge stated before he hummed. "Fall back! Lead them towards the gate and open up on them, no mercy!" Gadge stated as he sighed, utterly ready to keep fighting for now.
He didn't at all understand it for now… Didn't want to know what was coming next, all he knew was that this was going to be a problem, something that threw it all down the road… Whatever he could and would keep growing forwards as he hummed, something that had to focus more and more.
They had a lot more to see and do something more and more as he clicked his fingers against one another. They had a lot more to see and see and do.
"This is going to be a VERY long mission, I hope you know that…" Gadge muttered, inserting another clip into his DMR and knowing the others would need to keep growing more and more at the end of the day.
There wasn't going to be anything that could do anything about it for now. If there was a way to end it? they'd do it, but he had the plan to seal the deal, see it all crumble down to nothing… He'd not allow this to end properly, not today possibly but tomorrow.
Whatever he did would not help anyone, not even for a few seconds. This ended personally and properly, Gadge could see that the battle was engaging for now.
"Six? Kat? Clear them out then get up here… Emile, get this elite off me." Carter stated before he cut the communication for now.
Gadge did not at all think of it for now, something that was going to keep messing now.
"Damn it, this is going to be a pain in the ass for now, I don't want to push it for now," Gadge said before he clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth as of now.
This was not going to work once more as he shook his head, unsure and uncertain more and more in the meantime for now when it came down to it for now… Something that had to end… End properly, end before it came down to some sort of end, all of it had to.
Gadge continued pushing against the veil, he knew more and more that he could and would figure it all out for now…
All of it hurt and not for a second did it seem like now they were unable to grasp it all, something far more unsure and uneasy to unravel like a ball of yarn.
It would grow upon now, gaining more and more space to which it could not be properly contained to a single area.
Gadge hummed as the Vulcan rotated, whirling to life as 12.7 slugs flashed out from the barrel of the ATV, peppering the hunters who brought their shields upwards to stop it.
Gadge charged forwards as the others spread out. If they returned fire? A single bolt of supercharged plasma would turn the warthog into a pile of smoking scrap and the turret user into a smoking corpse.
(With Carter)
Carter dodged the elite before a knife entered the back of its hip, it turned only for the soldier to stab it in the throat, killing it instantly before it fell to the ground, dead.
Carter felt someone help him to his feet, Emile using his free hand to pull the knife from the dead creature and then sheathing it.
"I think I should head down. Not much I can do up here… Sides, I'd like it to be a fair fight." Emile joked before Carter nodded.
"Colonel Holland? We don't get support? There isn't going to be a Sword Base left to save." Carter said as Holland hummed.
"I've got longswords inbound," Holland said with a sigh. "Clear the air, Noble 1… We've got a VIP inbound then we're bringing your team home, got something of a problem scanner just picked up." Holland stated before he clicked off the comms.
"Damn it, we got a man down!" Gadge yelled over the comm. "Where's six with the target locator? Could use a big gun for these hunters." Gadge muttered as the sound of elevator doors opened.
(Below)
The elevator doors clicked open. Carter heard them … As did he hear the racking of a shotgun.
One of the hunters finally lurched forwards, collapsing as if compelled by something unseen.
The other turned only for the warthog to blast it in the back, causing it to collapse to the ground, Gadge turned to watch the hunter screech before it slowly started to collapse to the ground.
Gadge turned to see Emile, ripping worms from the monster's carapace, cutting into them with his other hand as it screeched. Emile drew his shotgun and racked it before firing a slug into the base of the creature, tearing its 'head' from the creature as it died.
"Gutsy." Gadge quipped as Emile chuckled and pulled his weapon free, looking around with an interest that was going to be bugging him for now and for good.
"Boss man is killing off the rest of them up there… Mind helping?" Emile asked as he stepped off the dead hunter, pausing only to be hit by a bolt from a jackal.
"Soon as we're done moping them up," Gadge said, pointing his gun at them. "Sir? Do we get any AA support or are we going to have to get creative with that corvette?" Gadge questioned, raising an eyebrow at the moment as he and Emile stepped up to engage along with the remaining army troopers.
"Colonel has support coming in when we clear the air… There are too many dropships up here… Noble 5? Take the others and get up… Noble 4? Noble 7? Keep the courtyard locked down, 2, 6? Up here…" Gadge and Emile heard as they snorted.
They still followed orders but it was clear they weren't happy being left out… Everything about it is going to be bothersome… All of it's a lot harder to deal with.
