"Kieran!" Bianca yelled, rushing over to the lagging compatriot. "You should really come and see this..."

"What's wrong?" Kieran asked, unsure of what had Bianca so worked up. The residents of the village had gathered to watch some political manifesto, Kieran didn't know who exactly it was, but it seemed to draw a crowd.

"My name is Ghetsis. I am here representing Team Plasma. Today, ladies and gentlemen, I would like to talk to you about Pokémon liberation." The man leading the group at the speech said. Kieran remembered something that the man who gave him Audrey had said. This was the group that wanted him for some reason. Kieran seemed cautious, and stuck a bit further back, suggesting his friends do the same, just in case.

"What exactly are you on about?" One man in the front of the crowd said.

"Liberation?" A woman responded.

"You see." The self-proclaimed Ghetsis said. "These Pokemon are powerful creatures are they not?"

The murmurs of the crowd seem to agree.

"Then why do we leave them to be enslaved by us?" Ghetsis proposed to the crowd. "To toil for our benefit, when their welfare would be served as the creatures they are?"

The crowed seemed to think on this a tiny bit, but reject the concept, due to the the generally accepted fact that human-Pokemon relations are mutually beneficial.

"Despite the fact that we know so little, we let them into our homes, and around even our youngest." Ghetsis said. "Doesn't that seem dangerous? To explore the unknown and expose it to even the smallest of minds?"

This seemed to be more of a genuine question to the crowd.

"And these living beings have souls!" Ghetsis added. "Some are as intellegent, if not moreso, than we are! Can you really say that these Pokemon deserve to be treated as pets?" Ghetsis proposed. The crowd murmured again.

"That is all I ask of you for this day. To consider the concept of the liberation of Pokemon, as to have them serve as equal members of society. I hope you come to the correct decision, thank you." Ghetsis said, before his guards escorted them off. After the crowd dispersed, Cheren asked Kieran why he was so concerned.

"I promised I wouldn't tell." Kieran said.

"Really?" Cheren asked. "What's so bad that you felt the need to keep it secret."

"I don't know, I didn't get all the information." Kieran replied. "I just know that the party I promised wanted it to remain such."

"Odd..." Cheren said back. "Anyways, you have any idea what they were on about? Pokemon help people, do they not?"

"I think what they were trying to say..." Kieran began to propose. "Is that we don't help them enough."

"Is it not symbiotic?" Cheren inquired.

"They're proposing it isn't, I'm genuinely unsure though..." Kieran said. "I mean I can treat Audrey and Sprout better probably, I'm sure they just mean Pokemon welfare and that..."

Cheren shrugged. "Time will pass, maybe we'll figure it out by the time we're done with our journey."

"You never know." Kieran said. "What about you two?"

Bianca seemed to reject it outright, and Lori seemed to want to think about it more. They were leaning towards no, like Kieran and Cheren were, but felt as if some deep thought was in order.

"Anyways..." Cheren said. "Should we get going?"

"I don't see why not!" Bianca said. "We should make sure those Team Plasma jerks don't get up to anything bad..."

"Be careful if you do..." Kieran replied. "I've heard they're really bad."

"We will!" Bianca said cheerfully.

"Need to get your mind off of things?" Lori asked. "I've heard there's this nice house where these folks play music."

"Sure." Kieran replied, smiling a bit. "I'm sure Audrey could use getting her mind off of things too."

"Audrey?" Lori asked, not recognizing the name.

"That Audino I have now." Kieran said.

"Oh yeah, them." Lori replied. "Shall we then?"

Kieran nodded, and the pair began to walk over, before being stopped by an odd man with green hair.

"What's this about?" Lori said.

"You two seem to have something about you." They replied. "I sense a bond with one of these Pokemon which is quite strong."

"Uh..." Kieran said, unsure if he was being interrogated about Audrey or not. "Let's just say we have an, um, common goal in mind."

"Really?" The man replied. "And what might that be?"

Kieran didn't seem comfortable saying. Audrey seemed a bit worried about the figure.

"Oh Arceus..." Audrey said. "What if they're Team Plasma... I shouldn't have endangered this Kieran guy..."

"Interesting..." The figure said. "Well, mind if we test how close this bond is?"

"I mean I guess..." Kieran said. "I've been meaning to see how powerful she is as well."

"Well I guess I can stick it to whoever it is!" Audrey said excitedly. A battle then begun. The figure was sorely at a disadvantage here, having one LV7 Pokemon, the same level as Sprout, with Audrey being more powerful. The battle went in Kieran's favor, though Sprout had ended up fainting.

"Interesting..." The figure replied. "Your bond is quite strong with your new companion."

"Thanks?" Kieran said, not quite getting it 100%.

"Well, anyways." The figure said. "The name's N." N offerred his hand.

Kieran accepted the handshake. "I'm Kieran, that's Lori, and that Audino you were talking about is Audrey."

"Noted." N replied. "Since you've defeated me, I'll have to be going. My apologies to Lori, I was hoping we'd be able to battle also."

"No problem." Lori replied, with a grin. "Guess you didn't expect us new trainers to be so strong."

"You could say that." N replied, wishing the duo good luck with their journey, and iterating the point that Ghetsis made about thinking about their relationship with their Pokemon compatriots.

"Well he seemed nice." Lori said.

"Yeah..." Kieran said, dwelling on the last thing he said before he left.

"What?" Lori replied. "You think he's one of them too?"

"Possibly." Kieran said. "Could we speak somewhere private afterwards? I think I can tell you what's going on..."

"Noted." Lori said. "Don't know where that'll be, but I'm sure it'll be soon."

Kieran nodded. "So those musicians? Shall we head there?"

"Yeah!" Lori replied.

After about five minutes of walking, the duo arrived at the house, heading in. There didn't seem to be anyone else here for concerty stuff, and the two inside were setting stuff up.

"Oh hey someone's here!" The boy at the drums said. There was also a girl at the piano, and Mincinno, who sort of just paced around. The small Pokemon did not play an instrument.

"Welcome!" The girl said. "You here to hear us play?"

"Yeah." Kieran said. "Thought it'd be good to get our mind off of things."

"Something wrong?" The girl inquired.

"Just those Team Plasma guys..." Kieran said, slightly upset. "Just don't feel like being all philosophical yet, they said to reconsider the human-Pokemon dynamic and I'l just not ready to do that yet."

"Ah, that's not fun." The boy said, feeling a bit bad for the philosophically challenged duo. "Yeah! Us playing could cheer you up!"

The boy began to start time, and the duo began to play. A revive that David had provided to the duo had been used on Snivy, and the quartet, two human and two Pokemon, sat down and listened to the music for a while. After about an hour or so, the group got up, feeling a bit better about themselves.

"Thanks for the help!" Lori said with a grin.

"No problem." The boy replied. "Music's what we love to do, so!"

"Listening's pretty fun too!" The Minccino said. Audrey nodded in response.

"We should probably heal up first." Lori suggested. Kieran agreed, so the two headed out to go heal their Pokemon.

After about another five minutes, they arrived back at the Pokemon center.

"Well welcome back you two!" Nurse Memphis said. "What brings you back here already?"

"Had a battle in town." Kieran said. "Thought I'd heal everyone up before we headed out."

"Fair enough, you know how it works." Nurse Memphis replied, as Kieran returned his Pokemon to their Pokeballs, allowing them to be healed. Lori allowed her Pokemon to do the same, though she had kept her Emolga and Patrat in their balls for the time being.

"Thanks." Lori said.

"Still no need to thank me." Nurse Memphis replied. "But you're welcome anyways."

Kieran let his Pokemon back out, and the group began off towards the next town.
