While Susie and Kieran had gotten their badge, and Lori and Ralsei waited on them to arrive at Fennel's lab, Bianca and Cheren decided to invite Kris on their training session, since the two considered themselves not strong enough to face the gym yet.

"I can't beleive I lost..." Cheren said.

"I'm sure it's fine..." Bianca replied. "I mean Lori barely won so..."

"I need to be stronger." Cheren said.

"I'm sure we can do it." Bianca said with a grin. "I mean it's the first gym, right?"

"Right." Cheren replied.

"Anyways, hey Kris!" Bianca yelled. Kris waved. "You want to come with us? We were gonna train some more."

Kris nodded, and as the trio headed out, a pair of Team Plasma members were walking by. The group went around the back of the two, and went unnoticed. They proceeded down to Route 2, in order to get some training done in order to be able to defeat the first gym. The group had allowed Kris to catch up, and they walked into the tall grass together. Despite being too weak for the gym, the group was fairly strong for the local wildlife, defeating individuals easily. Training had gone well, and into the mid-afternoon, when the group sat down, each Pokemon having grown a few levels, for a quick snack. Kris began to set up a fire, and a spark from her electric-type Pokemon set the kindling and wood ablaze. The Oshawott of Bianca's could put it out, and also provide water for the dehydrated items her father had sent her out with. A simple vegetable soup powder was procured, and Kris providing a pot, as she had a large supply set from her Blitzle's carrying to go off of.

"You sure do pack a lot Kris." Bianca commented. Kris nodded.

"Were your friends always like that?" Cheren asked. "Sorry if it seems intrusive but like, just seems odd." Kris shook her head no.

"Ah..." Bianca replied. "You think they'll be okay?"

Kris gave a thumbs up to that. Susie was a resilient gal, and Ralsei was fluffy still, so he thought they'd both be fine. It's not like they hadn't changed forms before, Kris and Susie, though these were much more mild, and likely just cosmetic, rather than actually biological like his two friends had gone through.

"I mea we could've probably stopped at that cafe, but I thought we'd get some practice in cooking out in the field, right?" Bianca asked.

"Fair enough." Cheren repleid. "Probably should save these for later though after this, in case we actually need them."

"Yeah, I guess." Bianca said. "Thought we could try right?"

"Okay." Cheren said. "Anyways, how long do you think it'll have to go for?" Kris nodded at the previous statement by Bianca.

"Probably only a few minutes once it gets all steamy, I mean it just has to get hot really, its pre-made mix." Bianca said.

"Noted." Cheren replied.

After a few minutes, the soup was done, and Cheren seemed a bit down.

"What's wrong?" Bianca asked her friend

"You think I'll be strong enough?" Cheren replied, worried about losing again. He didn't want to leave his friends behind by being too weak.

"I'm sure you'll be fine." Bianca replied. Kris gave a thumbs up in response.

"You two think so?" Cheren asked.

"I know so." Bianca replied. "Plus, we've been out here since like noon anyways, I'm sure our Pokemon have gotten plenty of practice."

Cheren looked at where the sun was, guessing it was the mid to late afternoon. "You think they went to the next town already?" He asked.

"I'm sure they'd stick around." Bianca said. "I mean those two are waiting on Kris, and Kieran and Lori would want to wait for us, right?"

Kris nodded, and Cheren did the same, as Bianca had pulled out a few bowls, which she had, but not one of the size to actually boil a group's worth of item in. A bowl of soup was given to each one, along with a disposable spoon.

"Thanks Bianca." Cheren replied.

"You're welcome." Bianca replied. "And thanks for the spark Kris."

Kris gave two thumbs up, before beginning on the soup, eating slowly due to its high tempature. Cheren and Bianca had elected to wait for a bit of cooling to occur before digging in. Bianca and Kris offerend some to their Pokemon respecitvely, the Oshawott taking a sip, and the Blitzle declining for now. Kris seemed noticably happy to have company familiar to the world, especially due to their inability to speak. It was always so easy with her mother Toriel, that the goat almost could read his mind. The bond there was quite strong, and Kris had nobody in this world to do that quite like she could. Susie was pretty good at it, but it felt like almost magic with his mother.

"Maybe being here won't be so bad." Kris thought.

"So how is it?" Bianca asked, as the party had tried the soup at least.

"Warm." Cheren said. "It's pretty good too." Kris nodded in agreement.

"Well thanks!" Bianca said. "Was kinda worried about screwing up my first one."

"I'm sure it'd be hard to do." Cheren said. "It's just soup, right?"

"Haha, yeah." Bianca said. "Anyways, what to do with all the rest of it?"

There was about half left of the pot, and an extinguished flame beneath it. The group decided to dig a small hole, and leave it for the wild Pokemon. With the full group of 7, this wouldn't be an issue, the remainder being left for the trainer's Pokemon. Oshawott elected to spray out the dirtied dishes with a spray of water, which worked well enough. Things were quickly packed up, and the group headed back, intending to win at the gym this time.
