Lori had ran all the way back to Striaton City, encountering some sort of man in uniform that may be able to help. A badge and a brown trenchcoat hinted at this.
"You've gotta help me sir!" Lori yelled, out of breath and all shook up.
The man removed his hat, revealing his slate-gray hair, looking down with his blue eyes, pale skin being much more obvious with the hat removed. "Something wrong?"
"There were these Team Plasma guys, and they..." Lori whimpered.
"Okay, calm down." The man replied. "I'm sure I can help. Agent Tedesco, International Police." He showed his more detailed identification badge, verifying his membership of the organization.
"T-Thanks sir..." Lori replied. "I c-c-could show you where..."
"Would be beneficial yes, lead the way." Tedesco replied. Lori, much slower than on the way there, slowly led the agent there. Upon arriving in the cave, he was stunned, not knowing of Ralsei and Susie's special status, and thought that four young trainers had defeated four members of Team Plasma, two of which with quite powerful Pokemon.
"Yeah, there..." Lori replied, sitting down against one of the cave walls.
"What in the world..." Tedesco replied. "How did you..."
"Hey, calm down Inspector Gadget." Susie snarkily replied. "I took care of them."
"That's a new one." Tedesco replied. "Anyways, you a counter agent or something?"
"Counter agent?" Susie asked. "I just know when to kick some ass is all."
"How'd you end up like that then?" Tedesco asked. "You must've been involved somehow..."
"Long story." Susie said. "I'll just say I'm from a distant land where this is something that's just a thing."
"Interesting..." Tedesco replied. "So three?"
"Two." Susie replied. "The Umbreon's with us."
"Anyways, you guys and gals all okay? Nobody needs to go to the hospital or anything?" Tedesco asked.
"No, we should be fine..." Cheren replied, clearly a bit out of it from the fall.
"Well one of you's out cold..." Tedesco said. "Anyways, may as well explain what's going on..."
"Oh Arceus..." The Patrat said. "I'm screwed aren't I..."
"They call it contingency." Tedesco said.
"Wait..." Susie replied. "That's what the nurse thought we were..."
"Odd that they'd have that known, unless that happened there before you..." Tedesco said.
"What's contingency?" Kieran asked.
"Well it's a generic term, meaning a sort of back up plan, but in the case of Team Plasma..." Tedesco replied. "It's those syringes you likely saw, thats why they became like how Susie is there."
"Why does the Patrat thing not know what's going on then?" Cheren asked.
"Well..." Tedesco replied. "It's the last resort for a reason. When a human is injected with the serum, their body is used as a canvas for the Pokemon. That's the Patrat, not the Team Plasma member."
"What happened to them then?" Kieran asked.
"Their soul is used as a sort of energy to allow it to occur. They essentially died to save their Pokemon." Tedesco replied.
"Oh Arceus..." Kieran said. Cheren also fainted over it, it hitting him that they had essentially just watched someone sacrifice themselves for their cause.
"Now there's three of you out, the Muuna, and the two kids." Tedesco said. "We should really get something to help, yeah..."
"But what?" Cheren asked.
"I'll call for some sort of emergency service, just make sure everyone's still breathing and has a pulse."
"Can do." Susie said, making sure that the Muuna was okay while Kieran checked on his two friends.
"Me too?" The Patrat asked.
"Sure." Tedesco said. "I'm sure I could put in a good word for you, if you promise not to keep at the Pokemon theft."
"But..." The Patrat replied. "My master died for me..."
"You're not him, are you?" Tedesco said. "You can be your own person, you could rescue Pokemon in not illegal ways you know."
"Like?" The Patrat said.
"I mean there's shelters and the like, and I mean if you really wanted to there's the police force, there's always abuse and neglect you could take care of, rather than just go and beat up some law-abiding teenagers." Tedesco replied.
"I mean..." The Patrat replied. "I can think about it, right?"
"Well yeah, I mean they'll probably lock you up short term anyways." Tedesco replied. "Just see what you know, then let you go into a sort of rehabilitation program."
"Rehabilitation, why?" The Patrat asked.
"Well just to learn how to be human, well, humanoid." Tedesco replied.
"It's a deal then I guess..." The Patrat replied. "Not that I have much chance in doing much for Team Plasma anyways..."
"Damn, they'd just abandon you like that?" Susie asked.
"Not quite, but I'd likely just be cooped up in some office or lab." The Patrat said. "I liked going out and seeing the world, but they keep only humans in that division, so they can do..."
"That?" Susie asked, as the Patrat seemed to sob some.
"Yeah..." The Patrat replied.
"Kid." Susie said. "You're hurt, emotionally. I'm sure you'll be a great force someday, just make sure it's for good you'll have to deal with me again."
"Oh well..." The Patrat replied. "Giving how you took out three of them by yourself..."
"Wait, you just said there were only two earlier." Tedesco said.
"No, just said two went through with the contingency." Susie said. "Scared two more off."
"Interesting..." Tedesco replied. "Well, I may as well introduce myself. I'm Agent Tedesco, of the International Police. What might your names be?"
"Susie." Susie replied.
"Kieran." Kieran answered.
"Well, Susie, Kieran, you did a good deed today, even if it didn't go quite to plan." Tedesco said.
"Thanks..." Kieran said.
"If this Susie can dispatch Team Plasma members this easily, we might have a shot at taking a bite out of their grip on Unova." Tedesco said.
"Grip on Unova?" Kieran asked, worried.
"It's not strong, like the Pokemon Centers and the Gyms are safe, but you'll see a lot of field agents around.
"Easy enough to deal with." Susie said. "Any way to stop them from doing that though?"
"Give them room to escape? Tedesco said. "We very rarely capture a member that isn't like this."
"Oh...' Kieran said. "Well uh..."
"What now?" Susie asked.
"Well, there should be a group on their way, Nacrene City has a nice hospital in the Pokemon center so..." Tedesco said. "Is the Muuna a stolen Pokemon or one of Team Plasma's?"
"That's the one we were trying to save." Kieran replied.
"Well they can probably go straight to rehabilitation then." Tedesco said.
Shortly after this, an ambulance converted from an ATV arrived. Two nurses' aides came out, and were rather shocked to see the results inside, but worked to get everyone set up on stretchers, and on their way. Tedesco and Kieran walked, while Susie carried Lori, following behind.
"I sure hope everyone's okay..." Kieran said.
"They should be." Tedesco said. "We should get there soon."
The group walked down Route 3, and the Trainers on the path seemed okay with letting the party involved with the emergency pass by without interruption by battle.
