Chapter 219
Hiccups POV:
It's been six days since me and my family arrived in Egypt and although most of the trip had been peaceful and relaxing for us, there have also been multiple headaches for me, my wives and occasionally for the kids. Fortunately, most of these headaches were easily dealt with by a good glare and occasional growl from Toothless, the girls dragons or one of my sand phantoms who wanted to show their hatchlings the birthplace of their species. I admit things started out alright with me and my family being invited to dinner with Cleopatra on our first night and that dinner was spent catching up with her. Of course, this dinner was accompanied by a performance by the palace's finest performers which the kids absolutely loved which is something they made clear by their cheers which I am relieved to say Cleopatra found adorable instead of rude.
Following the performances Cleopatra requested me to tell her all about the adventures I'd gone on since we last met which was at my wedding to Astrid and even then, we didn't get that much time to catch up. Because of this I spent over two hours using my illusion spider showing her some of my more exciting adventures and answering her questions. By the end we had to carry the kids home since they'd fallen asleep halfway through the adventures since it had gotten so late and they were still young. Before we left though Cleopatra requested, I come by the next day and demonstrate my new skills and gear for her and some of the nobles that made up her council.
I'd normally have no problems if it was just her but with her council there, I knew it would result in multiple headaches since with nobles, news always spreads fast and they'd be bugging me after word spread. Sadly though, since it was a request from the queen I couldn't turn her down so the next day I spent my entire morning in the palace training grounds, going up against various guards using my new skills and demonstrating my gifts from the gods. The gifts that I knew would be causing the biggest headaches though were my ways of transport like my scorpion and ship since the nobles had eyes on them and sadly so did Cleopatra. I knew this would become a major problem for me if I stuck around so the minute, I was done showing my new gifts I left while claiming I promised my family a tour of the city.
Of course, with the nobles' gossip being what it was the news of my god gifts had spread to every noble of every ranking within a single day so the next morning I got out of bed and walked outside to get a little fresh air and was greeted by a large group of people outside my walls. This group was as expected, mostly made up of wealthy traders who wanted to buy either my ship or my scorpion for a very high price while others were nobles, wanting to buy some of my items. Sadly, when I was trying to get these people to leave one of them caught sight of Twilight and the young sand phantoms who were peeking down from one of the windows and immediately offers to buy them were made.
Fortunately, the headaches for that morning ended after the guards lead by Asim came by and chased the crowd off by claiming they were making a scene that was disturbing the peace but as Asim walked away he looked back and gave me a smile which I returned. Sadly, my family didn't get much peace in the afternoon when I took them on a trip to the marketplace as we constantly found ourselves swarmed by people wanting to talk to me. They were mostly my fans who wanted to know about my adventures but there were also traders who wanted to do business with me and nobles wanting to speak with me. The thing that angered me though was the looks some of the men were giving my wives as they were looking at them like they were pieces of meat.
A few of the bolder men even tried to reach in for a touch on their lower backs but they all failed and walked away with bruised or broken wrists since the girls caught them every time. To make matters worse is these crowds made it difficult for me and my family to navigate through the various shops and stands so we couldn't really see what was being sold. I also worried about the kids being lost or taken in the crowd, so I always had Brants handheld by one of his mothers and had Chara ride on my shoulders so at least she'd get to see some things. To keep the crowds at bay I began having Toothless, Stormfly and Lianhua come with us wherever we went just so we could get a little peace on our outings.
This was a headache we all got every time we went out, but every member of my family got their own personal headaches in this land of the pharaohs. The headaches Brant got were from training with the guards whenever he got the chance and received a few mocking laughs from some until he showed he was able to at least hold his own thanks to his ninja training allowing him to attack their nerves. Because of this some of the older kids who were sons of the guards had been going to him for training tips and hoping for sparring matches but I could see that those wanting sparring matches were hoping to prove themselves to their fathers by beating Brant up. None of them succeeded though since Brant was able to take them down easily with a few combats moves both me and my ninja had taught him during the training sessions. Of course, this also got him his own little fanbase with multiple kids his age wanting to befriend him for one reason or another with some of the girls giving him looks I got from my fangirls and like me it annoyed him.
Then there's Chara's headaches which were a few of the older women who'd seen her as a perfect way to get to me so whenever she was out playing with the baby dragons in the garden they'd try to sneak onto the property to get to know her. After the first three times on the first day which ended with her running into the house claiming there was a strange lady in the garden, I had my ninja keep guard at the gate to ensure none of them got near my baby girl. Sadly, when the women realized they couldn't get near her they decided to bring their kids in for play dates whether they be their own kids, nieces, nephews or just baby cousins, it didn't matter to them as long as they could use them. The way it worked is they'd have the kids play with Chara while asking if we could talk while the kids played but it wasn't that hard to figure things out. The women who did this were mostly well of nobles who'd lost their husbands and were looking to marry me, gaining a higher status, good life and a father figure for their kids. The others were middle- or low-class women looking to get better lives or the daughters of traders who came to try and convince me to sell things to their fathers.
Then there's my wives who couldn't go out without me without some guy walking up and trying to flirt with them even after they told them that they were married to me. It wasn't hard to tell that they were just hoping to share a night with them with a few saying how they just wanted to show them how a real man performs in bed. This got them a glare from Blanca and a death threat from Astrid who released her claws and pointed them at their throats while telling them to keep away from them. This got most of the men to back off but some of the men just smiled claiming they enjoyed the challenge, claiming the harder the challenge, the better the reward. This problem wasn't all bad since the girls took me to bed at night and gave me a nice time as if they were trying to get back at those idiots who thought they were better than me. Besides those idiots they also had to deal with women who were hoping to get close to them and in doing so make it easier to convince me to accept them as another wife. The girls weren't fooled by this in the least and would make up some excuse to get away from the women and move on with their day.
Those were the headaches my family had to deal with and then there were the headaches I had to personally go through everyday no matter what I did. These were the standard headaches meaning fangirls, fanboys, merchants, men wanting to challenge me, Cleopatra asking me to train some of her guards and other headaches like that. The biggest headache of all though was without a doubt, my Egyptian stalker who would never give me some time to myself when I was just enjoying some time by myself. Seriously, if I was just taking a walk to clear my head she'd show up and latch onto my side, if I was out shopping she'd show up claiming she was doing the same and join me, when I'm practicing in the garden she'd come by and ask if she could watch and the list goes on. My family didn't have it any better when it comes to her as she was doing what the other women were doing to try to get into my wives' good graces but they could see the annoyance in her eyes. Then when it comes to my kids she tries to act nice but everyone could tell it's all an act to try and make the kids let their guards down so they'll help her get closer to me. It's gotten to the point that the second Henite shows up around one of the kids they'd run to me or one of their mothers to try and get her to back off.
Now I was now on a blanket on the sand with my wives in front of an oasis while we our dragons lay down around us as we watched the kids played hide and seek with the sand phantoms, constantly chasing after them with Twilight. I smiled at the sight since my family really needed this since when we were in the city, we didn't get much time to just relax, even in our own house. Out here in the desert though, it was peaceful and nobody bothered us so we were actually able to enjoy a bit of time to ourselves and admire the beauty that the desert has. It was then the silence I was enjoying was broken by Blanca saying.
"It was truly a good decision to come out here in order to get the peace we are unable to get in the city." I replied.
"Yeah, well I figured we could use some time away from the crowds, crazy merchants, annoying bastards and crazed fans." Astrid growled.
"Especially that annoying fan girl Henite." I rolled my eyes.
"Forget them for now, just enjoy the peace we have out here in the desert girls."
They both smiled and nodded in agreement but before they could reply our peaceful moment was ruined by the sound of Chara screaming. We all immediately stood up and turned to see her and Brant running towards us with the hatchlings on their tails but what caught my attention was the sand behind them being thrown up by something beneath it. We were all on our feet in a second before I activated my ox flame boots and rushed towards them, grabbing the kids under my arms and rushing back to their mothers while the dragons swooped in and grabbed the hatchlings and flying to us. I quickly handed the kids over to the girls with Astrid taking Brant while Blanca took Chara as I said.
"Get the kids out of here, I doubt what's in the sands is friendly." The girls nodded quickly mounting their dragons with the sand phantoms mounting their mother with Toothless putting Twilight with them as Astrid said.
"Don't tell me you're planning on facing whatever that thing beneath the sands is." I mounted Toothless.
"Sorry girls but I'm not going to take the risk of that thing attacking and killing travelers because we left it alone." She smiled.
"I know that reckless attitude of yours is going to get you killed one day but it's one of the many things that adds to your charm."
I smirked at this before mounting Toothless while Heatwave began to absorb the sunlight to prepare his mega blast to strike down whatever was heading towards us. It was then when it was fifteen feet the creature beneath the sand burst out to reveal itself as it let out a loud roar and what I saw was some sort of snake monster that made me actually pause in fear. From head to tail it was at least one hundred and fifty feet long while its frill was six feet near long the neck that it goes up to fourteen feet in length from left to right. It didn't have scales on its body which was made of a bronze skeleton rib cage from and from its chest down to its waist it would have a human-like rib cage with black rectangular ovals that had gold Egyptian carvings in them but lower down, the rib cage is open showing an empty void within while also allowing it to crawl across the ground like a centipede. The same pattern on the rib cage traveled up the head of the body around the frill and right to the very end of its skull and in between the ribs that made the frill there were these large curved spikes and between the ribs of the hood were golden eyes. On its back from the very top of the head down its back was scale like patterned spines that looked like razor-sharp curved blades that looked like they could pierce metal. Its face however was the most eye-catching part since it has the upper skull of a human which has the scale pattern on its forehead along with another Egyptian symbol on it but it had sharp teeth with another human skull beneath it but it only showed it as a secondary upper part of a human mouth with teeth. The bottom jaw was that of a snake but it has the same build as the upper jaw so it has a second jaw behind the first one but the first one is split like catastrophic quaken and has to curved fangs that act like a set of sickles. All in all, it did not look friendly and I was happy the kids were able to get away from it before it could do anything to them as it made me nervous. (AN: Picture is on my pinterest page.) I rubbed Toothless' head and looked from him to Heatwave as I said.
"Ready to do this boys?" They both growled and nodded making me smile. "Heatwave, Toothless and I will keep that thing distracted while you finish charging up and when you're done aim for the head as I do not want to take any risks with this thing." He growled and nodded before I rubbed Toothless' head. "Let's go bud." He growled and nodded before we took off into the air towards the creature.
Nobodies POV:
Hiccup quickly steered Toothless behind the snake and had him let out a plasma blast, striking the beast in the back of the head but it didn't leave even a scratch making Hiccup look at the creature in shock. The snake turned to glare at them before letting out an inhuman roar as it used its tail to launch itself up towards them but Hiccup steered Toothless up just out of reach and barely avoiding the fangs of the creature. Before its mouth closed though, Hiccup quickly pulled out a hand full of orange Loki balls and dropped them down at the beast, striking it in the face but it just roared in anger.
It was then Hiccup noticed Heatwave was fully loaded and ready to release his blast making Hiccup smile but he knew he'd need to hold that thing in place since if it avoided the shot then there'd be trouble. Hiccup quickly reached for his sash and pulled out three black shuriken as he steered Toothless towards the back of the creature to get a better shot at its shadow. When they were ten feet away Hiccup threw the shuriken at the snakes' shadow and smiled when all three hit in the head shadow but then frowned when he noticed the shuriken shaking and then shattering. The snake shook its hood before glaring at Hiccup and Toothless as they took off to try and get out of the snakes as it launched itself up at him again. As they dodged another lunge of the snake Hiccup said.
"Alright bud, I have an idea but you're not going to like it." Hiccup quickly told Toothless his plan and as expected he was not too big on the idea and made this clear with a growl and a slap with one of his earflaps. "I know bud but it's all we have right now and our only chance to give Heatwave the chance to strike since his blast is our best chance to try and take that thing down." He growled and nodded before he steered Toothless to the right to avoid another lunge from the snake. "Alright bud, let's do this."
Toothless gave a hesitant growl and dived towards the snake as Hiccup took out three black shuriken and threw them at the serpents' shadow, hitting up its body freezing its body for a few seconds. Hiccup steered Toothless down towards the snakes' shadow as he released his Anubis khopesh and when they were five feet away from the ground Hiccup, jumped off Toothless. Hiccup quickly tuck and rolled onto the ground before quickly stabbing his khopesh into the shadow of the snake just as the shuriken shattered, paralyzing the snake once more but the paralyzation was more powerful than the one caused by the shuriken. Hiccup could tell it wasn't going to last long by the way his khopesh was rapidly shaking like the shuriken did, so he quickly turned towards Heatwave and yelled.
"NOW HEATWAVE, BLAST ITS HEAD OFF!"
The second the words left his mouth Heatwave let out his sunlight blast right at the head of the snakes' head as Hiccup covered his eyes due to the brightness of the blast. When the light faded Hiccup lowered his hand and saw the snakes' body was still standing but now the place where the head was had a large hole in it with thin pieces of the hood on either side of it. Hiccup smiled at this but then frowned as a cracking sound like stone breaking caught his attention before he released his star sword since his khopesh was still in the shadow and he didn't want to take any chances if there was even the slimmest chance of the snake still being alive. He watched as the snakes' body slowly shattered to reveal an elderly man with no hair, wearing traditional Egyptian burial attire and was clearly transparent as small wisps of vapor flowed off his body to show he was a spirit. The spirit looked at Hiccup with a gentle smile before he said.
"Thankyou!" He then let out a sigh as his body evaporated into the air but before Hiccup could do anything a voice from behind him said.
"Do not worry, he is now making his journey to the afterlife." Hiccup immediately turned around, ready for a fight but when he saw who the owner of the voice was, he dropped to his knees in a bow as he said.
"Lord Anubis, it is an honor to be in your presence once more." Anubis just looked at him.
"Arise Hiccup Haddock as we do not have time for formalities." Hiccup stood up and could tell things were serious by the look on Anubis' face.
"What's going on?" Anubis sighed.
"Do you know of the beast Apophis?"
"The beast that is locked in an eternal battle with Ra who stops it from devouring the world." Anubis nodded.
"Centuries ago a single drop of the beasts blood fell onto the mortal world and created a beast known as the pharaohs serpent, a great beast that threatened to devour the souls of this worlds inhabitants and although Ra could not stop it as he was in battle with Apophis the other gods of Egypt were able to defeat it before imprisoning its soul within a statue."
"And judging by that thing I just faced, it was released?" Anubis nodded.
"Why do I get the feeling that the snake thing we just beat isn't the pharaohs serpent?"
"Because it wasn't, it was merely a soul that had been imprisoned in the body of that creature to act as fuel for it so it could act as an extension of the serpents will."
"Alright but what does this serpent thing even want?"
"It devours living creatures to feed on their souls providing it nourishment for its power that it shall take back to Apophis who shall then absorb the beast back into its body and then become so powerful that not even all the gods of this world, together would be able to stop it."
"Then why don't you and the other gods of Egypt stop this beast like you did last time?"
"Hiccup Haddock, the last time it took all our power to stop it and centuries to regain half our original power that we now have." It was at that moment that a blind man could tell by the look on Hiccups face that he was determined to stop the pharaohs serpent.
"There has to be a way to stop that thing." Anubis looked hesitant but nodded.
"There is one way, but I am hesitant to use it as there is a slim chance of it working." Hiccup could see the mild fear in the gods eyes and knew something was up.
"Lord Anubis, even if the chance is slim it's at least a chance." Anubis looked away and Hiccup could tell something was up. "There's more to your hesitation then you're letting on." Anubis turned to face him, but he shrugged. "I'm good at reading others but I would like to know what it is that would make even a god act this way."
"Centuries ago, I after answering to the prayers of one of my worshippers, countless souls have suffered and instead of being sent to the afterlife, have been imprisoned within an item and I fear that this item may only feed the beast."
"Lord Anubis, forgive me but I need to know what this item is and how it came to be?"
Centuries ago, a humble man who was known for his cloth work left to do some work but while he was away his wife and daughter were out getting water for their home when a the noblemen saw them and beseeched the daughter to marry him as he had taken a liking to her." Hiccup nodded. "She refused him and in doing so enraged him, so both women fled back to their home in hopes that he'd leave them be but instead he and a few of his guards followed behind." Anubis looked down. "The noble and his guards broke into their home before the noble ordered his guards to take the daughter prisoner and to have fun with the mother but make sure to kill her when they were done." Hiccup didn't like this one bit. "The mother was violated by all the guards before she was stabbed in her side and left to bleed out but once the guards left, her husband came home to find that that a noble had taken his daughter as a bride and entered his home only to see his wife had been defiled and stabbed.." Hiccup clenched his fists in disgust. "Cradling his dying wife in his arms he asked her what happened, and she told him the story before she died in the arms of her husband." Hiccup shook his head in sadness feeling sorry for the man. "In his anguish the man prayed to us for some way to get redemption for this heinous crime and I alone answered his cries which is when I made him a deal, in which I would grant the man the power to destroy the noble who destroyed his family but in exchange he had to bring me the soul of a warrior who had escaped my grasp for too long." Anubis punctuated this last bit by holding up his hand and then clenching it. "Taking the deal, I empowered the man beyond his wildest dream, and he went on fighting through the noble homes trying to find his daughter." Anubis then got a look in his eye that told Hiccup it was not a good ending. "He found her after a month of tracking, but sadly the noble disposed of her as he grew bored of her and for his own amusement had her mummified alive." Hiccup made a disgusted look on his face. "In his blind rage the man slaughtered everyone in the nobles' home until he reached the very noble who caused him so much pain and gave him to me to be thrown into the prison of all that forsake the gods." Hiccup smiled hearing this. "Afterwards he took his daughter's body and placed her with her mother, from there he went to fulfill his end of the deal." Hiccup could tell this wasn't the end of the story. "A few years later he found the warrior that I desired and the two fought for three days and two nights, in the end the man took an Ankh from the warriors armor and stabbed it through his chest into his heart before the warrior soon took his last breath." I nodded. "It didn't end there though as the man had succumbing to his wounds that he received from the extent of the battle and as he died the blood from both men saturated the Ankh that took in all the negativity and pain they had endured creating 'the Ankh of calamity'." Hiccups eyes widened hearing this as he'd heard the legends about all those who possess the ankh were imbued with all the pain and despair it has gathered, driving them to suicide and leading their souls to imprisonment within it where they would suffer for all eternity.
"I thought that thing was just a legend."
"I can assure you it is real, and it is powerful with countless souls, trapped within it that enhanced the pain and despair it originally had which is why I hesitate, allowing it to be used."
"It's our one chance since we need to stop the pharaohs serpent before it grows to powerful."
"I am still hesitant Hiccup as it would put anyone who takes it at great risk and we gods cannot use it as we are barely powerful enough to hold the serpent back now."
"If you're all not strong enough to defeat this thing and busy holding it back then I'll take it on." Anubis looked at Hiccup wide eyed. "I know it's risky but it's the only chance we have."
"Hiccup Haddock, are you aware of what shall happen if you fail?"
"My soul ends up trapped in the ankh and the serpent goes on to destroy the mortal realm, but it's better than standing by and doing nothing." Anubis sighed and rubbed his eyes.
"Odin is going to have my head for this." He then looked at Hiccup. "Go north from here until you find an oasis and at the bottom of the waters you shall find a chest which contains the ankh, left their by a man who lost his entire family to it and whished to free the world from its dark power but only pick it up with your prosthetic as the blessings of the gods will keep its power at bay." Hiccup nodded.
"How can it be used to defeat the pharaohs serpent?" He then raised an eyebrow. "Will I have to shove it down its throat or something?" Anubis shook his head.
"It won't be that easy Hiccup." Hiccup inwardly groaned hearing this. "In order for the power of the ankh to destroy the beast you will need to shove it right into the main magic point in its body which is where the magic flows from so you corrupt its main source of power." Hiccup nodded. "This in turn will allow all the pain and despair within the ankh to flow into it and corrupt the serpents magic, rotting it away and in turn killing the beast." Hiccup nodded, understanding this from his knowledge of how nerves can be a powerful weapon. "However, should you miss by even an inch then the serpent shall be able to absorb the souls within it and become so powerful, no force on Midgard will be able to stop it." Hiccup nodded.
"So where can the central magic point?"
"Right on top of its hood within the base of the snake that is its crown." Hiccup sighed.
"Why do I get the feeling things are going to be a lot harder than they already are?"
"Because they most likely are as this part is also the hardest part of its body and it will not be easy to cut with any of your weapons."
"You said it wouldn't be easy, but you didn't say it was going to be impossible." Anubis smiled at Hiccup.
"That's what I like about you mortal, you always have the will to try and do the impossible."
"I prefer to call it making the impossible possible." Anubis nodded.
"Be careful my friend for this beast may prove impossible for even you to defeat." Hiccup just smiled.
"The harder the challenge, the sweeter the victory." Anubis then frowned as he shivered. "Is something wrong?"
"I just sensed multiple souls being taken meaning the pharaohs serpent has claimed another village." Hiccup frowned.
"Do you have any idea where it might be heading so I can cut it off?" Anubis rubbed his chin. "From the location of where the souls were lost it seems to be heading towards Alexandria." Hiccup growled and looked down.
"I'll be damned if I allow that thing to harm anyone in that city." He then looked up. "How long should it be before the beast arrives in Alexandria?" Anubis rubbed his chin in thought.
"At its current speed, it should arrive in Alexandria by dawn tomorrow." Hiccup nodded.
"I'll have to get the ankh and then get back to Alexandria to begin evacuation immediately." Anubis nodded.
"I wish you luck in this endeavor Hiccup Haddock for if you fail then all the world shall suffer." As soon as the words left his mouth, he faded away leaving Hiccup alone before he turned to his dragons.
"We have work to do boys!" With that said he mounted Toothless and they took off.
Dawn the next day
Hiccups POV:
Yesterday had not been a pleasant time once Anubis left, starting with me going to claim the ankh of calamity and although getting it wasn't a problem, dealing with it when I opened the box was an entirely different story. The chest which it was contained in looked like a normal wooden chest, but it was when I opened it did, I understand the true power the ankh possessed. I learnt this when I opened the chest and found a single blood red ankh with golden edges and a pointed, dagger like bottom with the entire thing resting on black silk. When I opened the chest though I felt a great deal of emotional pain while painful memories from my past went through my mind until I slammed the chest closed. When it was closed the torment ended and I decided it best to keep it closed for now to make sure that I did not go through that for no reason, so I'd keep it locked up until it was time to bring it out.
After that I returned to the city with the ankh of calamity in its chest that was in my spiderpack, I had to inform Cleopatra and all her council members about what was coming and coming up with an evacuation plan for the people of the city. When the plan was in place, I went to inform my family about what was happening in Egypt and what would be happening in Alexandria. Before I was able to leave the palace Asim confronted me asking that he and his men be allowed to stand with me against this threat to the world but I turned them down claiming that if they were consumed, they would only increase the power of the beast. I convinced them to instead help the people evacuate the city to help protect as many people as possible since we did not want that thing to get anyone into its body.
When I told my wives about everything they were not the least bit happy and immediately wanted to help but I told them that their main priority should be the safety of the kids which they agreed before they agreed to help evacuate everyone after we drop the kids off at home. Saying goodbye to them was not easy when they found out what was going on in Egypt with little Chara latching onto my legs while begging me not to go and Brant wasn't far behind. I just kneeled down and embraced them both while telling them that if I didn't do this then eventually all of Midgard would be destroyed with all of us being destroyed with it. This helped them understand but it didn't stop the tears before I went to talk to my parents and Gobber about what was to come and to say that they were not happy would be one of the biggest understatements in Viking history. They were downright ready to tie me up, strap me to the ground and have a catastrophic quaken, a gronkle and my father sit down on me to keep me from going anywhere but I then told them what would happen if I stayed and they reluctantly let me go.
Then came time to tell my dragons and animals and as expected, they all wanted to come and help me in the fight against the pharaoh's serpent, but I wasn't going to take any of them as it was too dangerous. I could easily tell Adal was insulted by this, but I reminded him that his pack needed him and when it came to the alpha's I reminded them that their nests needed them. This got them to back down but Toothless wouldn't and neither would Heatwave so they both joined me on my return to Egypt to continue to help with the evacuation. When we got back to Egypt the evacuation had already begun and we quickly joined in helping to get everyone out of the city and either onto ships to take them up the Nile or onto wagons to lead them up the Nile by land with people taking only food and things with sentimental value that they could carry.
Now the entire city was completely deserted and I was sitting on Toothless with Heatwave next to us, my prosthetic was in its dragon claw form and we were all standing five miles away from the city in the desert, waiting for the Pharaohs serpent. It was then the ground began to shake and I knew it was time for the fight so I signaled my dragons to get ready for the fight and it was at that moment that the beast rose up from the sands and I had to ask why things could never be easy for me. The part of the serpent that was out of the sand was already close to a purple death in length and size with a huge frill that looked like it could block out the sun. The color of its scales copper gold black with silver star lights sticking through its body and greenish blue color snake headpiece on top of the hood making it look as if it were wearing a Pharaohs crown.
The scale pattern on the frill was a striped pattern with gold, greenish blue gold, greenish blue and blue highlights on the rim of the frill while the entire back was in the form of a diamond pattern with all of it being gold diamonds but in between them was black space like with silver stars and the middle of that was the greenish blue. It's under belly is in the shape of a down triangle pattern of gold but right in the middle of it all is like millions of blue opals just all in a line in the center of its underbelly. The figurehead of the snake on top of its head had glowing white eyes and was gold with blue stripes on it and behind the forehead just above the eyes are to Golden devil horns sticking from the back forward.
The serpents entire jaw is was ten times bigger than a normal cobra's mouth, so it was able to open it so wide that it was almost able to reach end of the frill on the neck. Inside the mouth looked like a huge empty void that only had glittering stars within it. The teeth were gold and greenish blue and it also had two large copper like fangs. On the bottom of its under jaw there was a long beard piece like the male pharaohs of ancient times wore or styled their beards and I could tell it would work like a plow when the serpent slithers through the sand. One of the most noticeable things about the serpent though were its eyes that were pure white in color and nothing more, so they were void of pupils as they gave off an eerie glow.
All in all, this one mean looking beast but before I could do anything Heatwave let out a roar as he turned to sand and fell to the ground leaving just me and Toothless. I wasn't afraid though since I knew Heatwave was loyal to me and knew he would never leave me for no reason, but it was then the Pharaohs Serpent then began to slither towards us. When it was three miles away with its jaw wide open and its head held back ready to strike I was proven right about Heatwave but also shocked when he burst out of the sands, only now though he was the size of a Green Death and he just slammed his head into the bottom of the serpents' jaw, slamming it shut as he let out a roar. I smiled and looked down at Toothless as I said.
"It's times like this bud, I wonder if the gifts the gods have given me will ever cease to amaze me." Toothless crooned. "Now how's about we help Heatwave handle that dumb snake." He growled as his scales began to glow blue as he went into alpha mode making me smile and ready his tail fin. "Let's go bud." With that said we took off to help Heatwave who just got thrown to the side from a blow, delivered by the serpents' body.
Nobodies POV:
Hiccup flew at the battle between the two giants just as the serpent lunged towards the neck of the dazed dragon but before it could reach, Toothless let loose a blast at its head and causing a large explosion when it struck. This didn't do anything to the serpent though, not even leaving so much as a scratch on it, but it did get the serpents attention since it turned to them. Hiccup smiled as he said.
"I think we got its attention bud."
The serpent roared as it began slithering towards them but before it could, Heatwave roared and snapped his jaws down on the beasts' neck, just below the hood making it roar in pain. Heatwave then threw his head to the side as he opened his muzzle, throwing the head of the serpents' upper body to the side but the serpent wasn't harmed in any way by the bite. As its body though, it raised its lower body and swung at Heatwave, striking him in the side which knocked him over but before the serpent could do anything Toothless delivered another two plasma blasts at it, striking it in the side. Hiccup smiled at this until the serpent turned and roared at them with the force of its roar, they were thrown back a little, but Heatwave silenced it by slamming his head under its jaw, shutting its mouth. Hiccup and Toothless used this opportunity to correct themselves before Hiccup said.
"Alright bud, if we're going to beat this thing, we need to get me onto the top of that snakes head." He growled while looking at his rider as if he were crazy. "I know bud but it's the only chance we have to end this cold-blooded beast and if we don't then everyone's doomed." Toothless let out a huff before he began flying towards the serpents' head. "Alright, bud when we get close, I'm going to jump off and spread my wings and glide the rest of the way towards the head and while I'm there, help Heatwave to keep that thing distracted while I handle things on the head."
Toothless growled and nodded before they headed towards the serpents' head at full speed and when they were twenty feet away, Hiccup jumped from the saddle towards the serpents' head as he spread out his wings. Hiccup quickly glided towards the head of the beast and came to land on the head, just above the eyes, tucking and rolling as he did so before coming to a stop, ten feet away from the headpiece. Hiccup stood back up and did his best to keep his balance as the head of the serpent moved around in its fight against Heatwave and Toothless. When he was able to steady himself, Hiccup made his way towards the headpiece while releasing his starsword so he could use it to break through the scales.
When Hiccup reached the headpiece, he immediately began slashing at the base of the snake, but he was barely able to scratch the scales of the beast. Before Hiccup could deliver any more slashes though, a large shadow landed on him and he looked up to see the headpiece had come to life and was now glaring down at him as it reared its head back to strike. Hiccup quickly jumped back to avoid the snakes strike, resulting in it only striking air before Hiccup stumbled to the side as the Pharaoh's serpent moved its head, making him stumble a bit. Before the headpiece could strike again, he slashed at the headpieces outstretched neck, scratching it but it was a shallow cut that was a little more than a small scratch that quickly healed. Hiccup knew he didn't have much of a chance against this snake with the Pharaohs Serpent, constantly moving its heads so he couldn't get in a good strike.
It was then a roar of pain from Heatwave got his attention and Hiccup turned to see that his dragon had been struck hard by the tail of the serpent. Seeing this Hiccup knew that he needed to kill the serpent fast before it was able to harm or kill either one of his dragons but it was not going to be easy with the headpiece attacking him whenever he got close. It was then he was struck with and idea and released his two sentinel metal discs and sent them at the headpiece, having them stick themselves, over its eyes blinding it. The headpiece roared in annoyance as it began to rapidly shake its head to try and shake off the discs as Hiccup released his tail and launched the seven joints at the muzzle. Hiccup willed the joints to stick themselves around the muzzle before rejoining, forming a muzzle while forcing snakes mouth shut making Hiccup smile but he could tell it wouldn't last long.
He quickly ran at the headpiece while switching out his starsword for his Anubis khopesh which he quickly slammed into the headpieces shadow, barely getting it half a foot deep into the serpents' scales but it was enough to freeze the headpiece. Hiccup could tell it wasn't going to last long though since the khopesh was shaking like the shuriken did when they were stabbed into the shadow of the Pharaohs serpent's minion yesterday. Knowing this might be his one chance he ran back to his original place at the base of the headpiece while releasing his starsword before slashing at it, hard and fast slowly breaking the scales, making a small dent in the scales but not big enough to break through to the magical core.
Hiccup prepared to continue his assault on that small spot but before he could the sound of metal shattering along with the loud echoing cry of a jackal and when he looked at the source of the cry was from his Anubis khopesh that had begun cracking right before it shattered. Before Hiccup could react though the headpiece swung its neck downwards, sweeping it across the skin and striking Hiccup hard in the gut and throwing the discs and tail off while knocking him off the serpents' head as he coughed up some blood. Hiccup fell towards the ground but neither Toothless or Heatwave saw as the Pharaoh's serpent was keeping the two of them occupied with its roars throwing them back and strikes forcing them to dodge. This left Hiccup free falling since he was in too much pain to adjust himself so he could release his wings and allow him to glide to safety but as he did, all he could do was try and move around while holding onto his sword and clenching his teeth in pain as he said.
"I am not going to die like this!"
His will to live and continue the fight against his foe, flowed through his very soul and it was then his prosthetic fully activated, glowing brightly while armor grew from it, covering him from head to toe leaving him in the same armor he defeated the crimson snake when he first met Blanca. With the armor Hiccup had no trouble flipping over and releasing his wings before gliding above the ground, just when he was five feet off it. He took off towards the headpiece once more while flapping his wings hard and flying towards the serpents' body to continue the fight against the beast. Hiccup flew above the body and sped up his speed as he flew over it towards the head while occasionally launching feathers down at the body and although they were able to pierce the scales, they were only able to do nothing more than a pinpricks damage to the beast. As he flew though he was able to summon both his tail and his discs with his tail merging onto the lower back of the armor while the discs flew next to his shoulders.
It took Hiccup a minute to get to the top of the beasts' head before he flew right at the snake headpiece, full-speed and when he reached it he dragged his right wing right through the neck, just beneath the head before landing in front of it. He smirked beneath his helmet as the head fell off, being held on by only a slim piece on the right side but frowned when it immediately began to heal and knew he needed to get to work before it fully recovered. He raised his starsword and began rapidly slashing at the snakes hide where he had originally been striking but had healed in the time Hiccup had not been there to strike it.
Hiccup quickly began striking into the skin again, making up for lost time and quickly surpassing the original amount of damage he'd done, eventually breaking through the scales completely. When Hiccup looked at the opening beneath the scales, he saw a large pulsing orb that was navy blue in color and had multiple pipe like veins sticking out of it that were pulsing with power. Hiccup smiled as he pulled out the chest holding the Ankh of calamity and removed the ankh from it before tossing the chest to the side while glaring down at the core. It was then the serpent's headpiece had fully recovered and was leaning its head back, ready to strike Hiccup but just as it lunged towards him, Hiccup yelled out.
"DIE MONSTER!"
He then slammed both his blade and the dagger shaped bottom of the ankh into the core when the snake was only half a foot away from Hiccups head. The second the two blades entered the core though it froze before it pulled back roaring in pain while the Pharaohs Serpent threw its own head up and roaring in pain. This almost threw Hiccup off, but he held on tightly to his sword and the ankh while watching the core slowly turn black with the blackness spreading through the veins while emitting the sounds of agonizing screams came from the ankh. Hiccup could easily tell these screams were the screams of the souls that had been trapped in the ankh for so long, being released into the serpents' magic and acting as a poison to the beasts' magic.
It was then the core let out a bright glow before releasing a giant shockwave that not only succeeded in throwing Hiccup back but also tearing off pieces of his armor while knocking him out as it did so. As Hiccups unconscious form fell from the sky the Pharaohs Serpent writhed around in pain making both Heatwave and Toothless backup since its movements were so violent. It was then then the serpent's body suddenly stiffened as its body slowly turned to desert stone until its entire body froze up and then began to crumble until all that remained of the serpent were a few boulders that were half buried in the sand.
Hiccup slowly regained consciousness and watched as multiple souls that had been both devoured by the Pharaohs serpent and had been trapped within the ankh gently floated out from the boulders while thanking Hiccup for freeing them. Hiccup just smiled before allowing the darkness to take him back into its embrace as Heatwave shrunk back to his original size and flew down to his unconscious master with Toothless in front of him. They both gently nuzzled Hiccups unconscious form until a blinding light floated down before them and when it faded it revealed none other than the Egyptian god of the sun Ra. Ra looked at the shattered pieces of the serpent and frowned.
"Wretched beast, you will never harm this land again." Ra then turned to the unconscious form of Hiccup and gently picked him up before he turned to the dragons who crooned in worry as he smiled and said. "Don't worry, he'll be just fine when we're done with him." He then took off into the sky with Hiccup in his arms.
AN: And once again another threat to the world has been defeated at the hands of Hiccup Haddock and once again his efforts shall not be going unrewarded. Come by in the next chapter to find out what he's getting for defeating the beast and yes, I know it's another cliffhanger but if I did it all now then the next chapter would take another week so please be patient. Anyway, a special thanks to both 'Red Dragon 112293' and 'Rogue Deity Master' for their help by giving ideas and information for this chapter. By the way 'lukec7585' Hiccup will not be meeting any dragon humanoids as they are more of a D&D beast and not mythical beasts so they won't do. Now please remember to review kindly and I will see you all next time.
