Chapter 250

Hiccups POV:

It's been three weeks since we got back from our vacation at Swan Lake and that time has been spent doing our own things to keep each of us busy with the girls continuing with their own business and the kids continuing their training under my ninja. I on the other hand had been spending my time, working on my projects such as my new library automaton that has come in pretty handy with sorting out the books. This automaton had four three jointed arms with to fingered claws like those of a scorpion with flat ends to avoid damaging the books it picks up. As for its body, it has a torso where the arms are connected with round slots in the back to hold scrolls while there's a thick pipe connecting it to its lower body that I shaped like a small wagon so it could carry books with eight crab legs. It's head on the other hand was oval shaped with a long shovel head like chin and just above the chin pas a short thin pipe that had peer stones withing them allowing it to see while the life stone was in the head. As for the rest of its body, it was mainly made of bronze mixed with gronkle iron using fusion ore and I had to say the automaton was quite useful in sorting the libraries books. Along with that I'd spent a lot of time in the forge, creating new items such as swords, daggers, throwing knives, axes, war hammers, maces and more. Of course, I hadn't focused all my forge time on weapons since they needed other things to go with them such as armor and items to carry them in and it didn't hurt that the forge provided various materials such as leather to create such items. When it came to the holders, I made them normally after the weapon before taking them to the silver dragon together since as I learnt after the first time, it bonded them together as a set. This especially came in helpful with the throwing knife belt I built that goes over someone's chest like a sash, so they'd have easy access to the knives. It also helped with the armor sets that had parts that weren't connected to the other parts of the set so when they into the vault, they came out standing proudly in place together on a single foot tall pedestal.

Despite all the new items, I had yet to bring anyone into the vault to see if any of the items would choose their wielder since I wasn't sure if those, I trusted were ready for these weapons yet. This didn't stop people from pestering me though since word got out about my vault now holding multiple weapons and many people were eager to get their hands on at least one item from it and would not stop pestering me about letting them in to take a look. Now normally I'd turn to my father for help in getting the villagers to back off but the problem with this is he also wanted access to the vault and wants to have the villagers check it out as well since it could really help upgrade Berks defenses. All in all, this entire situation was becoming one massive headache for both me and my family since the people had also been trying to convince me through them.

Other than that, there'd been a few new additions to my vault when I started hunting shipwrecks again with the help of Tephra and my automatons which brings us to now. I was sitting in my submersible ship and looking over the map to see how far we were from our destination which was the sixth shipwreck we'd be raiding today. So far things had been pretty dry when it comes to the raids since so far, we've only been able to gather four stone statues for the garden, three gold statues for the vault and two small chests of gold for the treasury. I wasn't complaining though since this was a time for not only a chance for me to do some shipwreck raids but also enjoy some time with my family while also gathering stuff for the healers. This is why Brant and Chara were with me on this trip along with their mothers with the kids on the bench, watching the fish go by while their mothers were in the kitchen preparing lunch for everyone. They weren't the only ones on this trip with me since I was also had Toothless and Twilight with me who were now at the back of the ship staring outside at the passing schools of fish while licking their lips. Along with those two we also had Ariel and Lumie who were here for the trip, but they were both swimming alongside Tephra outside and with them was my hippocampus' Kal and his now mate, Hali who were here to help loot ships. It was then the newest shipwreck came into view making me smiled and said.

"Time to release the automatons and get to work." I made my way over to the door leading down as I looked at the kids. "Brant, tell your mothers that I'm down in the storeroom taking care of the automatons." He nodded.

"Alright dad, let me know if you find anything cool in the shipwreck."

I nodded and walked into the room that would take me down into the storeroom where the automatons were kept so I could begin looting the ship. When I got to the room, I made my way over to the automatons and released the loot sharks to begin looting the ship with me keeping an eye on what they saw through the eye of the dragon. I watched as they took off towards the ship with my hippocampus' following after them to help the automatons check it for any treasures since they had a habit of finding various items that were hidden in the sands and the rubble of the shipwreck. It was then the loot sharks swam into the ship and began the exploration of the shipwreck with me using their eyes to keep a lookout for anything of value. I pulled out my dragon pipe and began puffing it just to pass the time while keeping an eye on the loot sharks and my Hippocampus but so far there hadn't been anything on the ship that was worth taking. It was then something buried in the sand caught my eye and my eyes widened since this was not something I could let my loot sharks or hippocampus collect on their own.

I made my way over to the room that lead outside into the water before turning into my aquatic armor and jumped into the water before swimming into the water and taking off towards the shipwreck. When I reached the shipwreck, the hippocampus's took notice of me and quickly swam up to greet me making me smile before I rubbed their heads and swam down into the shipwreck to see if what I saw was real. I swam over to the spot where I saw the item that caught my eye and gently brushed the sand off the item and smiled when I saw my eyes hadn't deceived me and picked the item up before taking off back to the ship so the loot sharks could continue their raid of the shipwreck. I swam through the opening in the ship's underside and into the room that I left through before removing the armor and walking out only to be greeted by the sight of Astrid waiting for me with her hands on her hips as she asked.

"And where have you been?" I smiled at her.

"Just collecting something from the shipwreck." She raised an eyebrow.

"What was so important that you had to collect it yourself?"

"I'll show it to you and the others over lunch."

"Good because your lunch is waiting for you." I smiled and followed her up to the main room that had taken its dining room form with everyone was waiting at the table that had a selection of sea food and once we were both sat down, Hadasa asked.

"So, what did you get from the ship?" I smiled and pulled out the item I took from the shipwreck.

"This is what I got." I placed the item on the table to reveal to everyone that the item I went and got myself was none other than a dragon eye lens. "A dragon eye lens and I thought I already collected them all." It was then Chara asked.

"What's a dragon eye daddy?" I smiled at her across the table.

"I'll show you and your brother when we get home princess but for now, just know that this single lens has information on dragons that I might not know."

"But you know everything about dragons." I chuckled.

"Sweetie, it's true I know a lot about dragons but the thing about learning is no matter how much you do learn, there's always more to learn and who knows," I picked up the lens. "this lens might have something new like where I can find a new dragon species that I've never seen before." I put the lens away into my spiderpack. "You never know." With that said we continued with lunch while my automatons continued to raid the shipwreck.

3 hours

It's been three hours since we found the dragon eye lens and, in that time, we were able to raid four more shipwrecks along the way and these ones allowed us to find a few more things for the vault, treasury and garden. Through it all, I could not stop checking out the lens since I had a good feeling about the information that it held even though there was no telling what dragon knowledge it held. This brings us to now with me standing in the dragon eye room with my human family and Toothless and now I'd just finished explaining to the kids what the dragon eye is, what it does and it was easy to tell they were eager to see the eyes in action. With this in mind I placed the lens within the dragon eye and put it in place before I rubbed Toothless' head as I said.

"Alright bud, give us a low burn to see what this new lens holds."

He growled and nodded before letting out a low flame shining the light through the dragon eye and projecting the contents of the lens but there was nothing. Knowing this meant it might need a different I twisted the dragon eye's body around a bit to switch out the gemstone that was in the slot with an emerald and still came up with nothing. I cycled through the gems until I came up with an image in purple and saw

it was a map but to where, I didn't know and knew that if it was on the dragon eye lens then it means dragon were there. I cycled through the gems hoping it would reveal some sort of clue as to what kind of dragon species lived there but it kept giving me blanks until I reached a message that read.

To whomever

If you are reading this, then it means you have done what so few have not only retrieved the ancient artifact of my tribe stolen by a dragon loving traitor but accomplished a great feat and captured a night fury. for it is only with the artifact and the flames of the beast that can unlock the secrets of this lens and allow them to be revealed to you. For years I have sought out the artifact using clues left behind by my ancestors who knew the traitor and it is with my discoveries I have discovered how to make the lens you now possess. It is through these years I have travelled to a great deal of islands in search of the artifact and the remains of the traitor who stole it and although I have failed in this quest, I have stumbled upon an island which has a flock of the very beast whose flame you use. It is with the map on the lens that you shall be able to find this island but be warned for these dragons are not as simple as a nadder, gronkle or monstrous nightmare so do not go in alone and remember 'HUNTERS FOREVER'.

A fellow hunter

As soon as I finished reading the message I took a moment to absorb and analyze the information it had given and realized that the one who left this message was without a doubt a dragon hunter who had knowledge on the dragon eye and was looking for it. On his journey though he was able to discover an island that had a flock of night fury's living on it in the hopes that whoever found the lens and the dragon eye would use them to hunt down the flock. I smirked and pulled out the lens as I said.

"I don't who made this but whoever it is, I thank them for doing what I tried to do for years." I then felt a tug on my coat and looked down to see Chara.

"What did that message mean daddy?" I smiled and put the lens back in the eye before picking Chara up.

"It means I finally have a lead to where I might be able to find more night fury's."

"So, more dragons like Toothless and Twilight?" I nodded.

"That's right princess." It was then Toothless crooned while looking up at me making me smile and rub his head. "Don't worry bud, we'll find more of your kind soon but for now I need to figure out which area their island is hidden on." It was then Astrid walked up and said.

"That can wait since you have to let your parents know we're back and give your father the report on what was found on this expedition." I groaned.

"Why does he always need to know about the stuff I find on these trips." Hadasa answered.

"He does it because he knows that you attract trouble like fresh fish attracts dragons and he worries that what you find will lead you into more trouble." I sighed.

"I would say that isn't true, but I hate to lie to my wives." I shrugged. "It'll at least give me the chance to drop off the sea plants we collected for the healers." I gently passed Chara to Blanca and turned to Toothless. "Come on bud, we've got some deliveries to make." He crooned. "Don't worry, the lens will still be here when we get back." He growled and nodded before we all left the room.

Nightfall

It's been hours since the sun set and even longer since I first discovered what was on that lens and in those hours a lot has happened, starting with me talking to my dad on Berk. When he found out about the new dragon eye lens and what it led to, he told me to be careful since night fury's were considered the unholy offspring of lightning and death for a reason. It was for this reason that he wasn't too big on me going after the night fury's at first but then he saw how eager me and Toothless were along with my mom pointing out they could be the last ones in existence, he stopped but warned me to be careful. I told him to relax since I still needed to figure out where the island was which would not be easy since the ocean is a big thing with a lot of islands so discovering the area where it could be found would take time. After that I dropped off the supplies the healers asked for and accepted their thanks before taking off back home and heading straight to the library to begin my research.

This brings us to now with me sitting at one of the libraries tables with multiple books and maps spread out on it as I searched for the location of the island where I could find the night fury's. It was then I felt a pair of hands wrap around me from behind and sighed as I asked.

"Good evening my sweet flower queen." Hadasa giggled. "And what brings you down here at such a late hour."

"Oh, just wanted to come collect my favorite pillow which I'm lucky to call my husband so I could sleep while listening to the soothing sound of his heartbeat."

"Afraid that's going to have to wait since I'm still trying to find the island where Toothless can find his own kind."

"It can wait till morning when you can get a fresh start after a good rest." I sighed and nodded.

"I guess you're right, I could use a bit of rest." With that said I stood up and allowed myself to be led out of the room to bed but the thought of finding more night fury's kept running through my head and I was not going to stop until I find it.

1 week later

It's been a week since my search for the island where the night fury's could be found began and a week of seemingly endless dead ends as no book nor map had the islands location and I'd gone through every map, book and lens I had and come up with nothing. This brings us to now with me being forced by my wives to take a walk to clear my head since I'd been working through the library for so many hours. Now I was making my way to the dragon stables where I knew I could find Toothless in the hopes that he could have one of the other dragons watch over Twilight while he and I went for a flight like we used to before all this fighting the forces of evil thing began.

I walked into the stable and looked through the various stables and made a mental note to expand them a bit since some of my dragons were growing and their stables were getting a little cramped. This was something I'd need to handle later since for now, I needed a little time to clear my head and spend some time with my dragon who is also my best friend. Toothless and his daughter are also the main reason I was working so hard to find the island with other night fury's since I know they had the subspecies of his kind from the other realms but I figured it would be good for them to have actual night fury's to bond with. It would do them good to learn the habits of their own kind like how the nadders had that mating dance of theirs which I saw Toothless trying to perform once while trying to get closer to the girls but they just thought he was nuts and hit him. I couldn't blame the girls though since he honestly did look ridiculous with the dances he was doing with his wings, tail and grunting making him look just plain silly.

I pushed the door leading to his personal stable and stopped dead in my tracks since what I saw was not something I was expecting to see in the least. Toothless was proudly laying on top of the rock that he called his bed while all the other furies were lounging around him and just relaxing as if they were in their own stables. It was then I was pulled out of my examination by something pawing against my leg and looked down to see little Twilight and gently picked her up before walking up to Toothless who finally took notice of me and growled in greeting as I asked.

"Am I interrupting something?" He shook his head. "You up for a flight bud?" He growled and stood up before making his way over to me as the females crooned as if asking him to stay. "Don't worry ladies, I'll bring him back to you in a few hours." I then put Twilight down. "Watch over Twilight while we're gone though." Twilight crooned and ran over to where her father was originally sitting while the females watched, as I left with my main dragon for a quiet flight and within a minute we were up in the air.

1 hour later

We were speeding across the ocean at top speeds as I kept my body pressed down against Toothless to cut down on the wind resistance before I opened up his tail and steered him up. We took off into the sky as I cried in joy until we broke through the clouds and flew above them as I smiled since it was times like these I felt truly at peace. It was then I sat up and rubbed Toothless' head and said.

"Thanks bud, I really needed this down time from my research." He growled. "I know I've gotten carried away with it lately, but this is a chance for us to find more night fury's but from what I saw in your stable, you've already got enough admirers." He warbled as if to ask, 'and you don't'. "Trust me bud, multiple relationships can be a real pain if you don't keep the girls happy." He let out a dragon like laugh. "So, tell me, are we going to need to enlarge your room in the stables or make an entirely new stables building for you and the girls mr I have all the females in my room?" He growled and slapped me with his ear fin making me chuckle. "I'll take that as a we'll talk about it later." He growled and shook his head before we continued our flight.

Sunset

I was laying back down in the saddle as we quietly circled the island and I couldn't help but think how far we'd come from being that scrawny little Viking who was looked at as a disappointment and grounded dragon who was trapped in a cove. Now I was a filthy rich, world travelling hero with my own island, three wonderful wives, two amazing kids, an army of dragons and so much more while Toothless was now the king of all dragons, a hero to multiple dragon souls that gave him his own mystic armor, a father to a sweet little hatchling and had multiple female admirers. It was times like these I wonder where I would be right now if it weren't for that night I shot Toothless down since he's the main reason I was able to become who I am today. I know it wasn't just me who was affected by my change in life since we'd been able to help a lot of people not just on Berk but also around the world and stop a lot of evil both magical and mortal beings from taking over. In doing so we were also able to put a couple of people back onto the right path and help the world a bit, like Eret son of Eret and his crew who now worked on Berk as dragon handlers in the stables.

It was then I sat up as realization hit me that Eret and his men had gone to a lot of places when they were working as dragon trappers for Drago, so maybe they might have an idea on where the islands located. I then took a look at the sky and saw the moon was beginning to rise meaning dinner was going to be served soon so I figure talking to Eret and his men could wait till tomorrow. I rubbed Toothless' head and said.

"Alright bud, let's head home for the night since there's a good meal waiting for each of us." With that said we took off for home to enjoy a quiet night in.

Morning

Waking up this morning was not an easy thing for me since when I got back home from the flight yesterday my wives made it clear how much they felt my mind needed a break from my thoughts about the island with the night fury's. They did this by preparing me my favorite meal, preparing me a hot bath with my favorite bath oils, Hadasa sticking around to help bathe me, Astrid and Blanca tucking the kids in, laying out my favorite bathrobe and ending the night with a good time in bed. I had to say though, I didn't mind one bit since getting to enjoy time with all three of my wives was a rare treat for me since it was normally just one of them who was in the mood. Still though, breakfast was a nice affair and I did take a little bit of pride in seeing the girls shake a bit when they stood up from the bed but that was something any man would take pride in.

Now I was making my way down into Berks dragon stables with Toothless at my side to find Eret son of Eret and his companions in the hopes that they might've seen the islands I'm looking for. It was then we reached the end of the long stairway that leads into the stables and I immediately spotted Eret and his men getting ready to do their morning jobs. Eret took notice of me and smiled before he noticed something and chuckled, making me raise an eyebrow as he walked up and said.

"Morning Hiccup, looks like you had a good night with those wives of yours." My eyes widened but before I could deny knowing what he was talking about he held up a hand. "Don't try to deny it, me and my men have seen the signs too many times to know when a man's gotten lucky but I hope you didn't come all the way down here to brag to us lonely guys." I chuckled and shook my head.

"Very funny Eret but I actually came to see if you guys could help me out with something." This got the attention of all the men.

"We'll try but what is it you need since I doubt you need help tending to your dragons."

"Actually, I was hoping for some help finding the location of a certain island." He raised an eyebrow.

"And you think with all of the traveling we did as trappers; we might know where it is?" I nodded. "Well we can't make any promises, but we'll try." I smiled.

"That's all I ask." I brought out the dragon eye from my spiderpack and pointed it at a wall. "Give us a low burn bud." Toothless growled and nodded before shining a low burn through the dragon eye, projecting the map onto the wall for Eret and his men to examine and for a few moments they examined the shape of the island and the surrounding landmarks before Eret snapped his fingers and turned to me.

"You right to come to us Hiccup, we sailed these waters a lot when we were just starting out."

"Why'd you stop going there?"

"Not a lot of dragons to trap and the waters were way too dangerous with a few whirlpools and large waves that would take our ship down to a watery grave." I rubbed my head in thought.

"So, you're saying you didn't see any dragons there?" He shrugged.

"Nothing other than the occasional passing nadder and monstrous nightmare and even those were rare."

"I take it you guys never decided to try and get to the island." Eret chuckled.

"We may have chosen a job in which we trap dragons, but we weren't crazy plus we'd seen enough ships go down while trying to reach that island." I rubbed my chin in thought.

"If that's the case, I'll have to take Tephra there sometime to do some looting on those shipwrecks." He raised an eyebrow.

"You really think those old wrecks might have anything valuable that hasn't already been ruined by the sea?" I smiled at him and shrugged.

"You never know since I've made quiet the profit from looting old shipwrecks." He smiled.

"Perhaps I should do the same and make a little extra gold." I smiled at him.

"Why do that when you could make some decent gold right here and now?" I reached into my coat and pulled out a leather bag of gold half the size of his fist and tossed it to him as his eyes widened. "That's for the information you just gave me and there's another one if you can give me the location." Eret looked up at me and smiled before holding up the bag.

"Don't worry about that as this is more than payment enough." I smiled at him before I brought out my maps so he could show me where the island could be found.

3 hours later

I was looking down at the items that were now sitting in the enlarged mouth of my spiderpack as I did one last check up on the inventory I was taking with me and Toothless on this trip. What I was taking was mostly dried food for me, fish for Toothless and possibly the other nightfuries, a few cooking supplies, my tent since I'm not sure how long we'll be gone and a few other things. The reason we weren't taking my ship even though it would be more comfortable and faster is I didn't want to spook the night fury's and I figure Toothless would enjoy the flight. I nodded seeing we had everything that was needed for this trip, including the map to the island Eret told us about before I had all the things get pulled in and closed up my spiderpack. I then looked to Toothless and said.

"You ready to do this bud?" He growled and nodded making me smile. "We just need to say goodbye to everyone, and we'll be off." He growled as I left to say goodbye to my family since even with Toothless, the journey alone would take two days but I knew if we could find more night fury's it'd all be worth it and once the goodbyes were done we took off into the air to find more night fury's.

AN: And that brings an end to this chapter but the question is, will they find what could be the last flock of night fury's or does disappointment await them.
